Ask.com Mixed Experiences with Ask.com

As someone deeply invested in finding answers online, I've had mixed experiences with Ask.com. While some users have praised its ability to provide accurate information, others have expressed frustration with issues like unwanted toolbars and unexpected charges. It seems that Ask.com's performance varies greatly depending on individual experiences. As a potential user, it's essential to approach Ask.com with caution and be aware of the potential drawbacks highlighted in various reviews.

Ask.com ask.com is a great alternative to google

ask.com is a great alternative to google. I would reccomend ask to anyone looking for something that is difficult to find on google. Ask.com is also great for educational material, they have a fact of the day which i have learned many intresting and wierd facts from. ask.com is good if you would like to search the answer to a question, as you can type the question into the search box instead of one or two words of it, however you might prefer trying yahoo answers first.

In conclusion, ask.com is a good alternative to google however when compared to google ask.com is not amazing.

Thanks for reading my review.

Ask.com A few days back I was reading some comment from the

A few days back I was reading some comment from the man who owns the company which owns Ask, also known as Ask Jeeves in the UK, whence it originates. The gist of it was, that if asked were he considering selling the service, he would reply that it had no value to him, so why would it have value to anyone else?

It's a shame, because Ask isn't appallingly slow or inaccurate and can do well up against Google. For example I chose an entirely random keyword, "lemoncello", to do a search on both Google and Ask. Ask correctly returned the most likely subject of my search, which is limoncello, the drink, but also included results about Lemoncello, the Scottish runner. Given that the latter was what I had actually typed, I think Ask offered me the right balance between what I'd asked for, and what it thought I might have meant. On the other hand, Google decided that I'd made a typo and offered me only the drink, not the sportsman, but with an option to choose at the top of the page, and Bing didn't know anything about the sportsman anyway. I preferred the way Ask thought on this one, and it returned results of equal relevance and at equal speed. It looks good, too, somewhere between the minimalism of Google and the glamour of Bing.

I think in the end there will be room for only one search engine, and this isn't going to be it. The original philosophy was fine - ask a question and get an answer, as opposed to just looking something up - but it didn't catch on. Google tapped into the zeitgeist and Ask Jeeves didn't, but not for want of trying.

Ask.com I wish I could give that crappy, parasitic app a lower

I wish I could give that crappy, parasitic app a lower score. I was trying to download a java upgrade, which never got done. But this slimy leach program crawled onto my Chrome app, and no matter how many times I uninstall it, it comes right back like a plague. I ever went to the disgusting Ask site to ask how to uninstall. (A big hint is the entire first page is about questions of how to uninstall.) It said to click on the wrench icon in the upper right corner, then select the search engine you want. I clicked Google, closed out, reopened, and again the virus that is Ask appeared Until they allow me to get their tentacles off my search options I will be sharing my view with everyone I know.

Ask.com Unauthorized credit card charge.

I asked a question with Just Ask as I was looking to confirm a cell number of Man I met on a dating app.

I was trying to confirm he was in fact in the area he said he lived in.

Turnes out he was a huge scammer and I had to get the police involved. He was trying to get me to extort money from the UK.

Anyway, I am ok with the $2.00 CND (Oct. 1/23 Charge) for the information but not ok with the $40.00 (Nov. 1/23) I did not authorize.

At this point I realize the loop from a bot (or whatever she is called posing as customer service) will never fix this so I am now trying to find a solution as to how to get my $40.00 back.

Claimed loss: $40.00

Desired outcome: Please refund

Ask.com JustAsk.com

You can get free real-life experiences/expert solutions through sites like YouTube. If you are looking for free local referrals, check out sites like NextDoor. (An aside: I prefer Next Door because the prices the provider charges are lower for you and the provider if you contact them directly rather than through sites like Angie's List or Thumbnail, for instance. The provider pays a fee to the referral service. The providers are usually small or family-owned businesses.) Your neighbors will refer affordable local providers. Paying Just Ask $5 + $39 to ask a question is not worth it. You will have to pay that $44 for that month and will require you to go back into the account to cancel future charges.

Ask.com Ask.com

I sighed up for a trial subscription at Ask.com for $1 for 7 days. They (Ask.com) said I could quit anytime. However after realizing that their service was not for me, I opted to cancel before the trial period ended. Well I was wrong! I spent hours trying to do that and was railroaded and had every trick in the book thrown at me making it impossible for me to quit the subscription. I will probably have to cancel my card to avoid further unwanted charges. Can you help me? I only have a few days left before the trial ends. I would like this subscription to be canceled.

Thank you,

Ask.com I used the Vet service.

I used the vet on ASK.COM in October after I was told I would be charged 5 dollars the first time I tried it. Instead, after the one and only time I tried it, after giving a tip for the vet, of $9.00 on 10/17/ 2022, plus giving 5 stars, the very next day, I was charged an additional $44.00, which was not what I agreed to. Secondly, today I looked at my account I was shocked to find I was charged yet again an additional $44.00 in 11/12/2022. I spoke to the vet on the 17th of October strictly to find out if my cat cleaning himself excessively warranted a trip to his vet. It wasn't. That isn't a $89.00 consultation. I could have called my cat's vet for free. I was testing it to see if I had a real emergency, I could speak to a vet who was knowledgeable. I did not expect to be exploited.

Desired outcome: a Refund of $88.00. Just the over charge fees that I never agreed to.

Ask.com Will not refund my money

I inquired about an item's worth via Just Answer. Y

Yes, I did sign up, but only because they lead me to believe there would be $5 charge for my question. Come to find out that it was actually $60 for membership for my question to be answered, not $5. When I realized they mislead me I contacted them and ask them to cancel my subscription and refund my $60.

They emailed me back and said that the $60 was displayed on the same page with I entered my billing information. They are very misleading as they make you believe it's $5 to ask a question, but they don't say the $60 is binding once you enter the billing info. If I had understood that to be the case, I would have never asked a question.

I will never use them again! I hope others read this and don't fall into the same trap I did.

Desired outcome: I want my $60 refunded to me.

Ask.com My money refunded in full

I asked a question & it popped up that you wanted $1.00 for a free trial and gave me the option of paying $39.00 for a membership or whatever. I'm not interested in that & can't afford it either. I said NO. Now a week later you have taken $46.00 out of my account that I paid the $1.00 with. I DID NOT authorize that. I am a disabled senior citizen on a very low fixed income of $840.00 a month. You have helped yourself to my medication money & also my milk & eggs for the next month. I have access to federal disability attorneys if need be. It would be extremely easy for you to just put my $46.00 back on my card account. Simple. Avoid all the BS.

Ask.com Unauthorized credit card charge

I think it around five texted just ask and got an assistant she took my information down and told me it would be $1 I waited about 40 mins or more for them to find me a technician. He didn't help all he did was tell me what I need already but what I hoped I could avoid. Then when we got done texting I noticed I was charged $46 on my card. I did not authorize you to take $46 for a membership. So if I am signed up for a membership I want it cancelled and my money returned.

Desired outcome: Please refund my money. I would appreciate a response.

I did not willfully join any membership. I ask a question but realizing it would be a time consuming ordeal I respectfully ended the session without any answer and did not dispute the $35.
Now I discover they have taken a second payment of $35 and I've done absolutely no business with these folks this month. I don't want or need anything but a refund for this last debit to my account. Later today i will file a dispute thru my bank- they're probably familiar with this anyway.

Desired outcome: Refund

I am in the middle of this one now myself. Due to the codes that were in my checking/debit withdrawals I had thought this was part of my ala-carte style entertainment choices. I had no idea until today when I questioned my bank about the transaction and they gave me a phone number that wasn't in the withdrawal nomenclature. So that's how I found out this was a monthly sub to Just Ask. After a week or more of waiting I also never received an answer to my query and didn't think about it again after that. I only look at my account when specific charges are made and I want to check them. I really can't afford to throw money away but that's exactly what I've been doing every month. I was able to stop the so called membership today. I don't think I will get a refund for the dues either. Even though I never agreed to a monthly subscription. IMO they just stole it.

I was charged 46 dollar and they won't stop messing me. The answers I got were not helpful and I would not recommend these services if it's regarding your cellphone. I asked a question online and was sent to this portal and it said answers for 1 dollar. It's a lie I was charged 1$ then 46 dollars after receiving nothing but useless banter. I want my 46 dollars back or I'm going to call the authories.

Desired outcome: I want my money back
