Stay away from aspen dental torrington, ct!
In 2008 I went to aspen dental. I need a lot of work root canals, couple bridges filings, that what they have told me.
They did x-rays and exam. Estimate they prepare show that after insurance I have to pay $3000.00 out of packet. I have applied for care credit biggest mistake ever. They transfer all the money from care credit to their account that same day I apply for it, without my permission.
They charge care credit in advance for work before it was done base on estimate.in other words they charge for services not rendered.
I have find out that after I have root canals done they charge $1500.00 for one!
Normal price is around 800.00. After explanation of benefits from may insurance I pay out of packet $330.00 for one. But they refuse to give me credit back, because I have root scaling and planning “cleaning” done before root canals, that insurance don’t pay for yet.
Cleaning is cover in 100% they charge extra $45.00 for something that I don’t need and is not cover by insurance. They give me electric toothbrush as part of the visit they don’t ask if I like to purchase that item. They charge $125.00 for it.
I fight to get my money back for month, they refuse to cooperate. They told me that no credit will be posted until they receive all payments from insurance.
Office manager lie to me from beginning she prepare estimates, she transfer many from care credit to aspen account. Toothbrush was send back I don’t se any credit for it also. After few meting with her she was very nasty I have to contact corp. Office they been unhelpful either.

Beware! Beware!
Aspen dental is a big rip off
I have NOTICED this. I used Unicorn financial and they did the same thing and billed the services before the services were done. Each time I asked for a bill showing my adjusted credit balance after each bit of work was done... they only gave me the days receipt.. sometimes.
Then, it did not reflect what credit balance I still had on hand, the price after my (at the time)discount plan and a benefits plan and now I find out they billed my current insurance for work done 14 months ago that should have fallen under the discount plan and the benefit plan.
I believe it is against the law to bill my dental insurance for claims that originated prior to the insurance being in affect.
I also believe it is illegal to hide the costs being deducted from a credit balance in which you have NO explaination of where the money is going.
I think it's time the federal government investigate Aspen dental for their questionable billing practices as all of the claims for the last year have NOT been billed to my insurance. Claims from the previous year...were NOT deducted from my credit balance AND NO ONE CAN TELL ME WHERE THE BALANCE WENT.
IT HAS ALSO COME TO MY ATTENTION THAT YOU CANNOT BILL MEDICAL OR DENTAL SERVICES THAT ARE MORE THAN A YEAR OLD AND EXPECT PAYMENT. IT'S ABOUT TIMELINESS OF CLAIMS.
ASPEN DENTAL HAS SOMETHING VERY FISHY GOING ON. DON'T TAKE CRAP OFF A BUNCH OF PEOPLE IN AN OFFICE WHO WANT TO MAKE YOU FEEL LIKE YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND YOUR INSURANCE.
I USED TO WORK IN THIS FIELD AND THEY ARE TRULY FULL OF CRAP.
I can tell you that you sound as though you had extensive dental issues, including periodontal disease if you were treatment planned for scaling and root planing, and if you really needed all that you mentioned in your rant. I don't understand why someone who goes to a doctor after not taking good care of their oral health is then shocked or surprised that they might incur a large bill for the required dental procedures to restore their mouth back to a healthy state. Also, you can't be so unaware that when you sign up for a credit card for your medical and dental (because you don't have any other means to pay for your situation) that you have received this gift of being able to pay a smaller, affordable monthly amount because there is a relationship with the company you are doing business with and the bank financing your giant dental bill. Your ignorance is no excuse for blaming everyone but YOU.
I agree 100%. It's feels more like a used-car dealership in there than a respectable dental office. They tried to sneak in a tube of toothpaste into my "treatment plan" that was somehow worth about $30, among other things. I'm surprised they didn't include VIN etching on my molars or a floormat for my tongue.
Laurie is probably a hygienist, dentist or a dental assistant as she seems to know what she is talking about. The original poster sounds angry that he/she didn't understand her dental health or the best way to fix it & wants to complain now. Cork, you have no idea what some of the fluoride formulation tubes cost the dental office to order. The cost & some markup does get passed on to the patient, it's called keeping a small business profitable & keeping americans employed. Do you complain when you pay for a filter or some other part for your car at the dealership that you could have gotten cheaper at autozone? Get over it.
hmmmmm, sounds to me like some people on here are from aspen. They are crooks through and through. contact the better business bureau about them. force them to resolve the issues.
They tried billing me for stuff that was not done until I refused to pay for it.
first time going to aspen dental, it did feel like they pressured me into things i did not need. when i left i had a credit card bill, didnt know what i was getting into. jeeze scammers..
