If you are a Senior Citizen and a victim of romance fraud that includes opening a wireless account for someone to help them that turns out to be fraudulent use of the account, then ATT will hold you financially responsible and threaten your credit rating. They will demand information you can't possibly have or get and tell you to take your complaint to the local police. The local police have NOTHING they can do to help you at all. ATT knows this is going on daily and THEIR POLICY is to make the senior pay the bill.
Nobody at ATT Fraud will answer a phone. They want you to fill out forms and provide documents you can't possible have. It's a scam to frustrate you and make you pay up out of fear. The only way to get to talk to a person is to file a complaint with the FCC and then a "Senior Manager" who really isn't will call you and tell you that OFFICIAL ATT POLICY in romance fraud cases is for seniors to pay up and call your local police to track down a thief in Nigeria! Uh huh.
This is typical of large crooked corporations like ATT. The Wireless sales person Josh who directed me to Fraud Dept said he could tell this was a fraudulent account by the activity after a month. However...NOBODY at ATT bothered to notify me to tell me. Why is that I asked the Manager? No answer..."Our policy is that you will pay the bill" and then you take it up with your local police. They have a lousy reputation for a reason.
Desired outcome: Delete the charges on the fraudulent account that ATT has already closed because it's FRAUDULENT.
