unauthorised credit card charges
Avast - on sunday 11/12/2016 i noticed a credit card charge on one of my accounts for an amount of $49.99. This is an aunauthorised and illegal charge. You are required to return the amount of $49.99 to the account from which it came within 72 hours to avoid further action. I do not own any avast products nor do i want any in the future.
The refund of this amount must be processed upon receipt of this complaint.

avast internet security
I was billed twice for an avast internet security product both within a few months of each other, and I also do not have it activated or downloaded on my computer.
I was billed $49.99 on 29 september 2016 via digital river ireland, ltd via paypal for (as shown on paypal activity statement) dri*avast software transaction id33e915868y5152933, invoice id35150114400.
My current avast security was deleted or disabled before that time by an it technician due to a virus fix, and I was trying to enable it again, but avast had charged me for the same product that was paid for before.
Second incident, I was charged my annual charge for the same product on 17 november 2016 of $69.99 via digital river ireland, ltd via paypal for (As shown on paypal statement) dri*avast software - transaction id6mj15811h5537745y, invoice id: [protected].
I already have avg security (Product of avast) which is currently active, whereby avast product is not active on my computer. I have copies of both these transactions on paypal activity statements, but cannot scan them into my computer's hardrive, but am able to fax them to you if needed. Your help would be much appreciated, as I cannot get in touch with avast to obtain a refund and discuss this matter. Have tried on their website - contact for complaints is not easy to find. Thank you.

I tried installing avast antivirus and using it. It worked to remove two viruses but started to overwhelm my computer and slowed it down to a crawl!I tried removing it.This was the free version. I did not want Yahoo as my default search engine . Now it won't go away or change back ! Apparently it hijacks your browser so beware!I hope that Avast see's this and just remember that I voted for President Trump because of bullcrap like this along with other reasons. If this is what the free version does then what do think could happen if you pay for a subscription. There were times when I had to reinstall the O.S. so beware ...try another first.

avast free antivirus
I have been thinking about upgraded the software so I upgraded each time you told us about to upgrade for the free program. Well I have had nothing but issues. When I upgrade it does not ask you to restarted your computer etc, it just give you are hard time and it takes 15 minutes or more to make it work. I still do not know how I make it work when it says it is not connected. It has never told me what to do to it to work. I am in the middle of a face book chat and all of a sudden I tell me avast is not responding and It freezes everything for 2 to 4 seconds and goes back to normal. It is driving me crazy. I had to spend $@79.95 Canada to have someone tell me it is vast soft ware. I realize it is free but I tried it before I pay. At this point the money I would have paid you I paid to a computer etc. Your Vast SafeZone is worse. It will not let many programs open because it does not think they are safe. Today it would not open Internet exployer because of something about the ads on the yahoo web page. Please at this point Your response to this complaint will tell me if I will find a new program for my programs. It will also help me decided if I will let face book friends to pass the word. I have been trying to work with your soft ware for 6 months and I do not know what else to do. It is in your hands now. Please tell me how to have faith in your program

Hi,
Avast sent me an e-mail, requesting I update my card details for my subscription to re-new.
There was no mention of a charge being placed on my card. What is more concerning that a charge of $1.44 was added then removed, then another charge of $1 was added.
Can you please advise why I have been charged for updating details that were requested by the company in question. Surely this should be a charge incurred by them not me?
Yours Sincerely
S F Wadsworth

support service
I am absolutely fuming. My Nan, a recently widowed vulnerable woman clicks on a link accessible from the free antivirus software because she is frustrated with her slow computer. She pays the amount requested at the beginning. A man calls to deal with her problem but wait surprise surprise before he can finish, he needs more money. I tell her to hang up immediately but she won't listen to me because she strongly believes it's legit because it was a link allowed by Avast. Wrong. She ends up paying £200! They tell her she can cancel within 30 days but they make it near enough impossible... I have never been more disappointed and disgusted in a company. One word - Frauds. You should never allow this to happen, and should be protecting people from this, not taking advantage!
billing
Dear Sir/Madam,
I am writing to you to explain that I have recently been charged twice for the same avast service. I was charged on the 23rd March 2016 for £34.99 by a company called 'Newway' on my paypal account and have also received an email confirming this. My order number is: [protected]. I was then also charged on the 3rd April 2016 by another company called 'Digital river Ireland ltd' for also £34.99 order number: [protected] receiving again another email from yourselves confirming this. I have not ever authorised this second payment to be taken, so I am confused and concerned as to why this happened. I would like to get this rectified and the money put back into my account. Please can someone get in contact with me and explain how this happened.
Kind Regards

credit card billing issues
After numerous phone calls, tickets, and e-mails concerning auto renewal of clean up software. I could never get it to work Since it was auto renewed in January I can have now paid for two years of a product I don't want or use. All I need them to do is change my e-mail address to one that is active. Their customer service is useless, particularly concerning anything that has to do with money. When I got Avast Pro for my new computer the confirmation & license key came from a company called Digital River. Apparently, Avast's billing is handled by Digital River. If you are having trouble with billing, refunds, credit card charges, and/or automatic renewals, you need to talk to these people. The confirmation e-mail included the following statement concerning automatic renewals:
Auto-Renewal Plan Terms
By completing your purchase, you have authorized Digital River to automatically renew your purchased license for successive renewal terms equal in length to your initial license term but no longer than 1 year, at the then-current renewal license price (plus applicable taxes) using your payment information provided for your initial purchase, until you cancel.
At least one email will be sent to you to remind you of each upcoming renewal. The Digital River Terms of Sale and Privacy Policy will apply to each renewal transaction. You also agree that Digital River may, upon notice to you, transfer your responsibility for the processing of renewals of your purchased license under the Auto-Renewal Plan to Avast Software a.s. ("Avast"), in which case Digital River will transfer your billing information to Avast or their payment processor, and Avast's terms of sale and privacy policy provided to you in Avast's reminder email will apply to each renewal transaction.
You may cancel your auto-renewal plan at any time by logging into the My Subscriptions portal (access information are included in this email or on the Customer Service Help page), selecting your product, and selecting the option to disable automatic renewal.
Here is the link to their website.

Why the "customer service representatives" leave that out when people ask for help with billing is a mystery.

Similar complaint about billing error for avast Pro. ! After many years as a user, renewed for 3 years. They billed my credit card 3 times @~$80 for $240 ! Tried Searches to get a Billing Tel. #, got wrong #'s, not available. So used their E-mail link to get a tel. #, no response. Should have used one of the Free Anti-Virus. They changed Service to constant annoying pop-ups threatening if not buy additional expensive & unneeded options - very bad! Dr. John, D.B.A.
secureline vpn
I am a long-time user of avast antivirus and have no complaints about that service. I opted for their secure line vpn trial program, and when that expired, I bought their two-year full vpn program. I have never been able to connect with it, for whenever I click on the icon, only the trial version appears to tell me that it has expired, and I cannot find any way to uninstall the trial version. Avast is very slow to respond to customer queries, and when they do, it seems that they do not fully read one's questions. They do not seem to know how to resolve the problem. Maybe one cannot use the vpn at the same time as their security program? But why not? Anyway, I have asked them again to resolve this, or if they cannot, to refund my money. They have not responded. I certainly hope that avast keeps abreast of customer issues through publications like yours. Thank you.
To whom it concerns.
I got a free trial with downloading Avast, then I found it useless so I removed it from my computer but after I had paid about 19 euro for it and I had uninsulated it, they are still looking for money, how can I get my money now and refund my credit card.
If this is a way of doing business then I wished I never downloaded it, I do not have avast on my computer so why should I pay anything for it.
A very unhappy customer of avast.
Kind regards
James
payment fraud
Avast is an internet security program that I have used for a few years. I usually let it auto-renew, therefore my banking information is contained within the app, just as with any other billing program.
I was laid off and to ensure I was not billed further for any extraneous charges from any source, I logged into Avast on July 30, 2015 and stopped the auto-renewal. I received an automated confirmation from Avast, dated Thursday July 20, 2015, and time-stamped 6:10 a.m., confirming “We have stopped auto-renewal for your Avast security”.
On August 15, 2015 at 2:07 a.m., I received an email from Avast reflecting my “license” has been renewed. However, please note – the actual expiration date for Avast was scheduled for November 2, 2015. There was absolutely no reason for the renewal to be processed by Avast on August 15, 2015 as I was still a current customer and had approximately 3 months remaining on my current subscription.
Eighteen (18) days after stopping auto-renewal, and well in advance of any potential renewal date, Avast charged my card in the amount of $39.99.
I sent numerous customer service tickets to Avast through their customer service portal and not once did I receive a reply from any representative.
I then called their customer service number of [protected] (they picked up and immediately hung up). I then called again and was on hold a good portion of the 9 minutes. When I spoke with a man (he refused to provide his name) and briefly advised him of the problem and asked for a refund of the unauthorized charge, he stated; “Oh honey, you’re not getting your money back”.
I filed a fraud dispute through my bank and they removed the charge.
At the beginning of March 2016, I was checking my accounts, only to find an Avast charge on one of my never used credit cards! Needless to say, I don't use Avast and would never have charged anything with regard to Avast. I again had to dispute this charge with my bank.
Please DO NOT order or use Avast. They are not even Better Business Bureau (BBB) Accredited, with 464 complaints logged.

internet security
1/21/16 a pop-up for a update for my online security with avast. I followed the instructions and gave them my credit card info and hit the submit button. all it did was sat "loading" for a very long time and would not do anything else. I re-submitted my order and the same thing, I then tried a two year "premier plan and it wouldn't load. I figured that something was wrong with their sight so I gave up for the time being. Later in the day I was checking my e-mail and lo and behold I was charged 87.75 for the attempts that i had made. I contacted them and of course was on hold for a long time and after explaining my problem I was transferred to another person. I explained that I was o.k. keeping the "premier" package for 39.99 but didn't want the other two which were duplications. The female rep I spoke to couldn't hardly speak english and I had a very hard time understanding her. She was giving me some kind of code and another web sight that I would have to go to. I called my bank and of course they had already withdrawn their funds so I closed down my account to stop them from any more withdraws. I would never recommend them to anyone, their web page wouldn't even install the "premier" package after following the instructions. I am now out 87.75 and mad as hell, and feel I have been ripped off.
protection license - double billing
I received an email last December - my credit card was expired to renew my license. I went to my account and updated the credit card - immediately a prompt suggested I should renew the license I did on January 8. I downloaded and used that license. I found a second charge for this renewal license on January 26 - same license number and never used! I have contacted Avast immediately and requested that I get a refund for the second charge - nothing February, March, etc.! I contacted them again in December and filed a ticket as I was instructed to do. Avast has NOT responded to this at all - not a word! No credit, nor refund, no response. I have NOT renewed the two active license protection accounts. Why should I - I do not do business with dishonest companies! If this were Go Daddy, it would have been settled immediately, honorably and with great customer regard. You get none of that with Avast - just ignored!

internet security & total support
I purchased the avast security on 11/19/15 for 59.99. i Called them a few weeks latter to complain about the performance of the hard ware . I was told my PC was cluttered w/crap but I could purchase the total support package that had a teck that goes in & cleans up my pc 24/7 for a year for 179.99. so I got the total support w/the teck guy on 11/28/15. they go into my pc & spend an hour or so cleaning or doing whatever they do. I work out of town so I'm home for 2 weeks & gone 2 weeks. When I get back home the pc is still slow & just not how it was before they got ahold of it. so I call the teck & like before they go into my pc for 2 hours or so but this time they uninstall all the security & total support that I had purchased. I called 3or4 times couldn't get any satisfaction got the run around from everyone I talked to. I had no other option than to start this line of action. stuart adney
unauthorized credit card charges
Í Authorized Google Avast to take out 14.99 and 19.99 from my credit card account, no problem. Just to find out I had on 2 different days from Dri Avast money taken out of my credit card, October 16, 2015 in the amount of 31.79 and then on October 19, 2015 another 31.79. Why? I would like my money back and someone who can give me the Dri Vast phone number. Every number call, no one has the number for them. they have technical support for your software, but no actual number for them stealing from me! Help!
scam
Avast is a scam. After I downloaded their antivirus software, it kept freezing my laptop to the point that I had to reboot (the Avast “tech support" guy actually said “did your computer freeze?” before I told him what the problem was) After rebooting many times I called their tech support and a sleazy guy with Mexican accent reading from his notes said to open msinfo32 (system information) and asked me how many errors there were (every computers has tons of these Fault Bucket errors). Classic scam, he said that’s bad and for $199.99 his tech support would fix it.
I had the exact situation. Their software apparently contains a bug that controls your computers performance. My performance was continuing to degrade over a period of several weeks. I received three alerts from them saying my computer was running slow and I needed to purchase a program to clean it. I cancelled each alert. Today my computer completely froze, couldn't do anything. Had to manually shut it down. Contacted Avast rep who took control of computer and said their product was operating fine, but he could fix the laptop for $179.00. When I refused, he then could repair it for $119.00. I uninstalled the avast software and it was a MIRACLE!. The laptop is functioning is normally. Run from avast.
