Our Mother Eileen Renier, SS [protected], died in 2021. Eileen owned an annuity valued at $121,000 plus. Payouts were made to the beneficiaries. Spring 2022 Bankers life sent out a 1099 in Eileens name for that amount and we immediately filed her taxes. Shortley thereafter. Bankers sent the beneficaries their 1099s including their sum of the $121,000. We all paid our taxes on these amounts.
The result was that we had to do an ammendment on Eileens which to this date the IRS has not paid back. We contacted our local Representative Jim Banks to see if he could help. The end result is we had to send all the 1099s back into the IRS and this resulted in another charge from our accountant.
As of today 9/29/23 we have not received the refund.
Due to Negligence on Bankers we are asking for a refund for the extra monies we had to pay to file this extra paperwork which is $295 for the Ammendment and $195 for correspondence on the 1099s for a total of $490. This does not take into account the hours spent dealing with the IRS and accountant.
What is my next step to get this resolved.
Thank you
Ron Renier (Executor)
