During a recent mammogram, Banner Imaging injured a muscle near my shoulder (armpit area). The machine was digging into my armpit area and I heard something pop. I woke up the next day with a non-functioning arm. I spoke to the office manager who put me in touch with risk management. I had to pay for my own MRI because insurance wouldn't cover it. All I asked was they pay my $100 copay for an MRI or the $250 cash pay. 3.5 months later it still hurts and I avoid using that arm. Banner denied my claim and is not taking responsibility for my injury or costs. I have never had an issue with my shoulder before visiting them. I will not be using them again which is a shame because I have been a customer for many years.
On August 28th, 2023 I finally paid for the MRI (7 weeks after the incident). They didn't even wait for the doctor's fax to deny it. My MRI states there is Infraspinatus subtle hyperintensity. For this condition, conservative treatment is best and consists of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medication (NSAIDs), ice, rest, and physical therapy. Common NSAIDs are ibuprofen (Motrin) and naproxen (Aleve). These medications reduce inflammation and swelling and promote healing.
I was unable to do any of this right away because I couldn't get the MRI approved to know this was the issue.
