Mixed Feelings About Bethesda
As someone deeply invested in the gaming world, I have mixed feelings about Bethesda. While their games like Doom Eternal offer thrilling experiences, the insistence on online features and social data integration can be frustrating for solo players. The recent updates causing issues with mods and gameplay have left many fans disappointed. Despite the solid game foundations, Bethesda's approach to DRM and updates needs improvement to truly satisfy their diverse player base.
Bethesda's In-Game Economy Woes: Merchants Need More Coin!
Bethesda's platform has been a bit of a mixed bag for me, especially when it comes to the in-game economy. It's like, you go through all the trouble of collecting loot and gear, only to find out that the merchants in the game just don't have enough coin to buy it all off you. It's super frustrating having to wait an entire in-game week just to offload all the stuff you've worked hard to gather. I mean, it's not rocket science, right? Just give the vendors a bit more cash to work with so they can actually buy things from players without us having to twiddle our thumbs waiting for them to restock their funds. It seems like such a simple fix, and I'm not sure why the folks over at Bethesda haven't thought to address this. It's a basic idea of commerce, really – if you want to keep the economy flowing smoothly in your game, you've got to make sure the merchants have enough money to keep up with the players' selling needs.
Doom Eternal: A Shining Example of Bethesda's Capabilities
I've been reading through some of the comments and reviews about Bethesda and I gotta say, I'm a bit puzzled by all the negativity. Sure, there's always room for improvement, but I think it's important to give credit where it's due. I've been diving into Doom Eternal lately, and honestly, I'm pretty impressed with the game I've received. It's been a blast to play, and I think it's only fair to acknowledge the good work they've done on it.
Now, I'm not saying they're perfect – no company is. I've had my fair share of issues with some of their other games in the past, but I believe in giving props when they're deserved. Doom Eternal is a solid game, and it's clear that a lot of effort went into making it. The graphics are top-notch, the gameplay is smooth, and the overall experience has been really enjoyable for me.
I think sometimes people are quick to jump on the hate bandwagon without considering the positives. I'm all for constructive criticism, but let's not just spread bad info for the sake of it. Bethesda has put out some great titles, and while they might not always hit the mark, they've definitely got some wins under their belt.
So, let's try to keep things balanced. If you've got issues with Bethesda or their games, that's totally valid, but let's not overlook the good stuff they've done too. I'm looking forward to seeing what they come up with in the future and I'm hopeful that they'll keep delivering games that are as enjoyable as Doom Eternal has been for me.

Bethesda's Microtransaction Model: A Loyal Fan's Disappointment
I've been a fan of Bethesda for a while now but I've got to say, the way they're handling microtransactions and memberships lately is really starting to get on my nerves. It's like every time I log in, there's a new DLC or some fancy item in the in-game store that they're pushing, and the prices are just ridiculous. I mean, I get that companies need to make money, but it feels like they're taking advantage of us gamers.
Take Elder Scrolls Online (ESO) for example. It used to be such a great game, but now it's like you can't get the full experience without shelling out a bunch of cash for over-priced DLC and microtransactions. It's a real shame because it feels like the game's potential is locked behind a paywall, and that's not what gaming is supposed to be about.
On the other hand, I have to admit that the games Bethesda releases are generally top-notch. They've got a knack for creating these amazing worlds that are just a blast to explore. The quality of the games themselves is usually worth the initial cost, which is typically around $60 to $100. It's just a bummer that the experience gets tainted by all these extra costs that keep piling up.
So yeah, I'm kinda torn. I love the games, but I'm not a fan of the direction Bethesda's been going with all the extra charges. It's like, can't we just enjoy the game without all these distractions? I hope they take a step back and reconsider how they do things, cause it would be a real shame to see such great games get bogged down by greed.
Bethesda's Latest Release: A Glitch-Filled Letdown with No Refunds
I've had a pretty frustrating experience with Bethesda lately, they're selling a game that's just not working right out of the box. It's like, you buy it expecting to dive in and have a good time, but instead, you're met with a bunch of glitches that make it impossible to play. And it's not just me, seems like pretty much everyone who's tried to play this game is running into the same issues.
What's worse is that they're not even offering refunds. People are out here telling them, "Hey, this isn't what we were promised when we bought your game," and they're just turning a deaf ear. It's really not fair, you know? You pay for something, you should get what you paid for, or at least get your money back if it's not up to snuff.
On top of all that, there's a bunch of stuff that was supposed to be in the game – features and content that got us all excited – but they're nowhere to be found. Bugs in the game are keeping us from experiencing everything we were told we'd get. It's a real letdown.
Honestly, after this mess, I'd think twice before buying anything from them again. It's just not worth the headache. If you're considering picking up a game from Bethesda, my advice would be to hold off and see if they sort out their issues first. Otherwise, you might end up just as disappointed as I am.
Doom Eternal Review: Frustrating DRM and Forced Social Stats Ruin Experience
I recently purchased Doom Eternal on Steam, and I was already a bit frustrated with the "always online" DRM that Steam has, especially considering that internet connectivity isn't always reliable for many people around the globe. But then, to my surprise, I found out I needed to create a second account for Bethesda.net, and the game kept nagging me for not having it just to track social stats. I mean, come on, it's a single-player campaign, why would I need social stats for that? It's just unnecessary.
I'm seriously considering deleting it now. In my opinion, it's almost like it should be against the law to have to manually set up a firewall rule just to cut down on data usage for a feature that I don't even want and can't disable. A lot of people in developed countries rely on LTE-based Wi-Fi or have to make do with a slow ADSL connection. It's just not right to hog their bandwidth with pointless social data for what is essentially an offline feature.
I could maybe understand the need for a data connection if there was some kind of multiplayer aspect that required it, but until Bethesda removes the social data feature or gives us an option to disable it in the settings, I'm keeping the app blocked with my firewall.
And I'm telling you, if Bethesda releases an update that makes the game unplayable without a Wi-Fi connection, I'm going to find a way to crack it. I've paid for the game, and I believe I have the right to play it without data flow. The developers shouldn't be able to take that away from me.
It's just insane, now with a recent update, even my firewall rule isn't enough—the game just locks up. It feels like a crime, how aggressively they're trying to use up my limited data, and honestly, it feels like this should be challenged legally.
I've reached a point where the only sensible option seems to be to download a pirated version just to bypass this ridiculous aspect of the game that devours data and renders the game unplayable if you can't connect to the internet. I mean, there were a couple of times in the last six months when my internet went down—once because someone actually cut through the telecom cables with a sawzall.
So here I am, contemplating cracking a legally purchased game because the DRM has become so invasive that it feels like a crime to leave it as is. I should be able to enjoy the game I bought at any time, with or without an internet connection.
Bethesda Complaints 1
Doom eternal should not need an account
I bought doom eternal on steam so you already have the picky "always online" drm of steam despite internet being less than 100% stable for a large fraction of the world
Then I need a second account and get complained at when I don't have it for social stats? On a single player campaign? Just no
Delete it now
I deem it should be illegal to have to create a manual firewall rule to reduce data usage for an unwanted feature with no "disable" button as a large fraction of the first world has LTE based wifi or uses a slow ADSL line that should not be legally clogged with meaningless social data for a normally offline feature
Maybe if you added some form of multiplayer you could re-enable data connections just for that but until you remove social data as a feature I am unable to disable in settings it will remain a firewalled app
If you push an update that stops the game working without wifi I will crack it
I have the right to have no data flow if I paid my dues and you have no right to stop that demand
Holy $#*! now a recent update has made a firewall rule lock down the game
This is literally criminal how much they want to push using up your limited data connection and should be legally destroyed
I am now at the point where the only rational choice is to download a pirate crack to destroy this useless aspect of the game that eats at data and breaks the game if you can't connect to the internet like when my internet was down for several hours twice in the past 6 months first time due to somebody literally taking a sawzall to telecommunications cables
I have to crack a legal copy of a game because drm has literally become a crime to leave intact as I have the right to play the game anytime even without internet
