B&H Photo Video Buyer Beware: My Experience with the Solarmax III 70mm H Alpha Telescope

I'm a professional photographer from Spain who's currently based in Chile. I've always been fascinated by astronomy, so I decided to invest in a new H Alpha Telescope. After reading some reviews, I settled on the Solarmax III 70mm, which comes with a nice new two-speed rack & pinion focuser that sets it apart from the older version.

I ordered the product from B&H Photo Video, and it was shipped to Chile via DHL Express. The delivery arrived on time, which was great.

As a newcomer to this technology, I started testing the telescope right away. However, during the first month, I couldn't get any detail on the inside of the sun disk, and I noticed a reflection on one side of the sun, almost like there were two suns. I thought it might be because I was using an RGB camera, so I decided to buy a monochrome camera instead. Unfortunately, even after running some tests with the new camera, I still couldn't get any detail on the disk, and the reflections persisted.

I reached out to B&H Photo Video for help, and they put me in touch with Meade. However, since the 30-day refund period had passed, B&H Photo Video couldn't offer any assistance, and I had to deal with Meade directly to go through the warranty process.

As it turns out, one of the etalons in the telescope had come loose during transportation or from the factory. Now, I have to pay for the transport to Meade in the US and then pay again to have it shipped back to Chile. The total cost will be around $1000, and it will take around 8 weeks to have it repaired once it arrives. This is a lot of money and time to spend on a new product that turned out to be defective, and I'm disappointed that no one is taking responsibility for selling me a faulty product.

I would advise anyone who's considering buying a new product like this to review it carefully during the 30-day period. If you're not confident in your technical skills, you should consider the potential issues that could arise, like the one I experienced, and the additional costs and time that could be involved.

If I had the chance to do it over again, I wouldn't buy this product internationally, given the lack of support from the seller and the money I've had to spend on a warranty claim.

I don't think this is the kind of service that customers should expect from a seller. They should be responsible for at least a year in case of any defects, and there should be an after-sales department to help customers with any issues that arise. It's frustrating to spend so much money at a shop and then not receive any help when you need it.

B&H Photo Video B&H Photo Video: Deceptive Sales Tactics and Poor Customer Service

I went to New York in April 2019 and stayed at a friend's house. I ordered some equipment from B&H Photo Video via the internet and decided to visit the store on the last day of my stay in the USA to see some other items and decide which ones to buy. I ended up spending a total of 550 USD on my shopping.

One of the items I wanted to buy was a tripod for my DSLR camera. I went to the department and met a middle-aged Chinese man who showed me two tripods printed from their site. The first one cost 24.95 USD and the other one cost 34.95 USD. Both were in stock. I explained to him that I wanted the taller and lighter tripod they had, so he gave me a ticket receipt and told me that it was the best and cheapest option for me, even though I never asked for a cheaper option. I had a lot of things to buy and the store was closing at 7:00 pm (we thought it closed at 9:00 pm, our mistake), so I took the ticket and went to the cashier to pay.

When I returned to Greece (as we were leaving the USA the next morning), I realized that the tripod was too short, heavier than the higher ones that I saw with the employee, and cost 21.54 USD, almost 3 USD less than the one I had chosen online. It was my fault that I didn't check the tripod when I was in New York, but it was unacceptable to me that an employee at such a big and famous store could deceive customers like the shop belonged to crooks. And all this for an amount of 21.54 USD, when I had paid a total of 546.77 USD to the store!

So I decided to contact the customer service of the store via email and inform them about this mess with every detail of my orders and the receipt from the shop. As the tripod was with me in Greece and the cost of international shipping was very high, I asked them if they could send the correct tripod to my American friend's house in the USA (who had made the e-orders for me) and send back the useless tripod for me by the beginning of September with her (after her return to the US).

They refused to accept this solution, writing to me that they cannot accept returns after "4-5 months(!)". They probably didn't recognize that it wasn't my fault, but their employee's fault! And I wonder, this tripod costs me 21.54 USD. For sure, they bought it much cheaper. So for this amount of money, they prefer to "risk" their fame.

I really didn't expect this answer from them! Probably it was my fault that I trusted them! I will never do it again, as I travel often to the USA. For sure, there are more stores like B&H and I hope they are more reliable!

B&H Photo Video Defective B+W Polarizer: Poor Quality Control and Unhelpful Customer Service from B&H and B+W

UPDATE

So, I asked B+W again about my defective polarizer and they finally replied! I have to give them 5 stars for recognizing the issue and taking action. However, I have to give B&H zero stars because they didn't do anything except say that the warranty was no longer valid. They didn't even try to help me out. It's frustrating when a customer has to do all the work to get fair treatment.

Anyway, B+W authorized a replacement for my polarizer, which is great news. Unfortunately, my version has been discontinued, so they're sending me a replacement under part # 66-***. It's an 82mm MASTER HTC C-POL MRC NANO. They apologized for the delay and asked me to confirm my address so they can ship it out.

Original review follows:

I live in Canada and I bought a B+W 82mm XS-Pro MRC Nano Polarizing Filter from B&H Photo Video. Unfortunately, it developed two issues over time. First, it falls apart every few hours of usage or so. Second, there's a "delamination of the polarizing foil from the glass surface" that's now showing up in my photos when I shoot at F22. This filter cost me $150 USD and should have never passed quality control. I didn't return it within the 30-day window because I was out in the field, and then the pandemic hit, so I didn't use it as much. I resigned myself to re-screwing the filter regularly as needed. I don't think I used it for more than 8 weeks total.

When I asked a rep in Canada to diagnose the issue, they suggested I take it up with B&H. But B&H refused to do anything, saying that the B+W warranty is only one year. So I wrote to B+W USA and got a reply saying that they don't warranty B+W products sold by B&H because they choose to buy from a source other than Schneider Optics. They told me to handle the matter through B&H.

So, the rep in Canada says B&H should address the issue, but B&H says it's been more than a year, so tough luck. And B+W says I have to handle it through B&H. It's frustrating that both companies are passing the buck and not taking responsibility.

I even wrote to B+W in Germany as a last attempt to get some help. I pointed out that their company name appears on the filter box and in the email I received, so they can't just wash their hands of the issue. I asked if there was anything that could be done. You can't sell faulty products and then pass the blame to someone else.

In conclusion, I would avoid buying overpriced B+W filters that fall apart and delaminate. And I would avoid buying from B&H because if you have any issues and don't return the product immediately, you'll lose your money and end up with degraded photo quality eventually. It's just a matter of time.

B&H Photo Video Disappointing Experience with B&H Photo Video: Defective Product and Unfair Review Practices

I gotta say, I'm pretty disappointed with my experience with B&H Photo Video. I bought the Vello LW500-u back on Black Friday in November 2019, and let me tell you, it's been nothing but trouble. First off, the product itself is labeled as just "LW500," regardless of whether you're getting the version that transfers photos to your computer or the version that transfers to your computer and Lightroom or Capture One. That's just not cool, man. There's a sticker on the outside of the box that tells you which one you're getting, but who's to say you got the right one? It's a terrible business practice, if you ask me.

Anyway, the LW500-u is supposed to support wireless file transfer to Lightroom or Capture One, but I couldn't get the software to work on either of my MACs. I have one running Mojave and one running Catalina, and neither one would load the program, even after I went into Security and allowed the app to open on my computer. I called Vello several times, and they finally told me there was a software problem. I also told them I couldn't understand why a product that normally costs $349 couldn't be properly labeled. They finally told me their marketing team would look into it, but that was back in December and I haven't heard anything since.

So, I returned the product and tried to leave a review of my experience on the B&H website, but for some reason they refused to publish it. I tried again in February, and still no luck. I don't blame B&H for the defective product, but if they're going to pick and choose which reviews they want to publish, that's just not fair. Reviews are an important factor to consider when deciding whether to buy a product, and if B&H is going to distort that process, then I'm done with them.

Update as of July 12, 2021: I wanted to respond to B&H's claim that the Vello LW500-u is incompatible with Mac OS 10.15.1. I have several screen shots that show there is no information on either the B&H or Vello website that states this. In fact, both websites explicitly state that the LW500-u is "compatible with Catalina 10.10 or above." I also tried downloading the Vello app on my Mac running the Big Sur 11.1 update, and it still wouldn't install successfully. I don't understand why Vello hasn't fixed their app yet, and why B&H is still selling the product on their website. It's just not right.

B&H Photo Video Poor Customer Service Experience at B&H Photo Video: Rude Employee at Returns Section

I recently had a really bad experience at B&H Photo Video, which has made me lose years of patronage to the store. I've been shopping at the store in Manhattan for many years, but this was the first time I had to return a camera, only to buy something better. However, when I went to the returns section, I encountered a really rude guy who made some remarkably rude but subtle innuendos which took me some time to digest.

The guy was a big white guy, who I think was Jewish. He started by asking me if I kept the memory card that came free with the camera, which I had left inside the camera when I returned it. After glancing at the contents, he asked, "So you kept the card?" It was subtle, but I got the impression that he thought I was trying to steal it. I gave him the benefit of the doubt, but then he looked inside the camera and found the card. He said, "Yeah, it was not here. So!" Then he proceeded to open a box which was tightly packed, but not that badly either. The second he opened it, there came another canned response. "You don't have to squeeze everything in, just because you are returning it!" I was in shock! I asked him to repeat what he said 2-3 times, after which he dismissed me by waving his hand.

I don't know if it is B&H's strategy to dissuade people from returning stuff, by placing such people at the returns section. Because the canned nature of his remarks came so naturally to him that I am sure he must have been doing this for a while, to a lot of customers now. I did consult a lawyer about this and am considering my options because even after trying to let it go for some time now, I can't. Someone has to stop these people.

I received a response from the owner in the last week, which I found to be quite unsatisfactory. They said that they regret my dissatisfaction and that the conversation was entirely innocuous and open to any misinterpretation. They also said that B&H does not have a strategy to dissuade people from returning stuff and that they are happy to accommodate them. However, I don't think the employee at the returns section was happy to accommodate me at all.

I think B&H needs to train their employees on how to behave with customers. The customer is not your sink to vent out frustrations and complexes. I hope that B&H takes this feedback seriously and makes some changes to improve their customer service.

Took way too long to get lenses and my frames seem much looser than when I sent them off. Now my glasses slide down my nose. Theyre Oakley frames I use for cycling so this is a problem. The actual lenses are good, light changing and I am satisfied with them.

B&H Photo Video B&H Photo-Video: A Nightmare Refund Process for a $2,000 Purchase

I had heard that B&H Photo-Video was the best place to buy camera equipment, but my recent experience proved otherwise. I made a large purchase of about $2,000, which included two Olympus TG-6 waterproof cameras, one black and one red. However, when I received the cameras, it seemed like the red one had been opened, so I returned both of them.

The refund for the black camera went smoothly, but the refund for the red camera has been a nightmare. As of today (9/2/21), I still haven't received the refund, even though B&H received the camera nearly three weeks ago (8/16/21). I have made about 20 phone calls to B&H, and each time I've been given a different excuse or promise that it would be resolved soon.

For nearly two weeks, the camera wasn't even showing as returned in their system. After multiple phone calls, I found out that B&H had lost the camera/package somewhere between the shipping department and the returns department. They finally informed me that I needed to sign an "Affidavit" to declare that I had indeed returned the camera, even though FedEx had already confirmed delivery.

The process of receiving the "Affidavit" via email was a comedic farce. I was given multiple promises that it would be sent, but it never came. When I called on Thursday (9/2), I was told that there had been confusion over the red camera vs. the black camera, and no one had bothered to send me an Affidavit for the red camera. I was promised that it would be taken care of, but it would still take another 48 hours (or maybe just 24 hours) to get the Affidavit sent to me. Then, once they received it back and reviewed it, the refund process would be started. But actually getting the refund credited would take another 7-10 business days.

I was fed up with the whole process and decided to file a "stop payment" fraud investigation "payment dispute" with my credit card company. I even told the customer service representative that I was going to do so and asked for a manager to call me back to resolve the issue ASAP, but no one ever called.

In conclusion, I would not recommend buying camera equipment from B&H Photo-Video. My experience was frustrating, screwed up, and filled with incompetence. I'm never buying from them again, even though I receive 3-4 email marketing/advertising announcements from them every day.

B&H Photo Video Disappointing Customer Service: My Frustrating Experience with B&H Photo Video

I used to be a regular customer of B&H Photo Video, and I always found their selection to be top-notch. However, my recent experiences with them have left me feeling disappointed and frustrated. It seems like their customer service has taken a nosedive, and they don't seem to care about their customers anymore.

My most recent experience with B&H was a complete disaster. I ordered a piece of equipment that I needed by a specific date, and I gave them plenty of time to deliver it. However, when the delivery date came and went, I started to get worried. I contacted B&H, but their responses were unhelpful and vague. It was like they weren't even reading my questions. Finally, after several emails, they told me that they wouldn't ship a replacement item until the original package was 10 business days overdue. This was frustrating, to say the least.

To make matters worse, when we tried to track down the lost package, B&H didn't seem to care that the tracking data showed that it had never been mailed. It was like they had lost it in their own warehouse, and they didn't want to take responsibility for it. They made me wait an obnoxiously long time before agreeing to express ship a replacement item. But even then, they neglected to tell me that the item was back-ordered and wouldn't be available for a while.

I was so frustrated at this point that I didn't even care if I got the specific item I ordered. I just needed something comparable, and I needed it fast. But B&H wouldn't even consider express shipping me a comparable item. I even escalated the issue to a director in the company, but he didn't seem to care either. It was like they were more interested in making excuses than in helping me.

In the end, I did eventually get the product I ordered, but it took a lot longer than it should have. I had to spend hours reading and writing emails just to get it. And I wouldn't go through that experience again if you paid me.

If you need something quickly, or if you think you might need to return the item, I would recommend taking your business elsewhere. Find a local camera shop or independent business that can special-order the product for you. You'll get better service and support, and you won't have to deal with the frustration of dealing with B&H's customer service.

B&H Photo Video Disappointed with B&H's Customer Service and Lost Package Investigation

I recently made a purchase on B&H Photo Video's website for an Apple 12.9" iPad Pro (Early 2020, 256GB, Wi-Fi Only, Space Gray) on March 24. I was excited to receive my new device and paid an extra $20 for overnight shipping, which was supposed to arrive on March 25. However, I was disappointed when the package did not arrive on time. I waited for a week, and when I checked my email on April 2, I was told that my order was out for delivery, but I did not receive it.

I live in an apartment complex with a gate code, so sometimes packages are delivered the next day despite being marked as delivered by the driver. However, when the package still had not arrived the next day, I became worried and checked with the main office to see if it had been left with a receptionist or neighbor. Unfortunately, I found nothing.

I contacted B&H customer service on April 4, and they informed me that they would file a claim with FedEx and investigate the missing package. However, I did not receive any updates until April 6, when I was informed that the package might have been sent to the wrong apartment and that they would follow up with FedEx. They also stated that a representative would contact me within 5 business days.

I contacted them again on April 7 to ask about the investigation, but they did not mention anything related to the initial claim they had filed. When I asked a different representative, they had to "updated request to set up a new claim." I began to doubt whether they had ever started an investigation in the first place.

It has now been more than two weeks, and I am still unsure if they will ever locate the missing package. I am worried that even if they do find it, the item will be damaged, and I will not be able to return it since it has exceeded its return date. If they do not find the package, or I have to file a police report, I will never be able to get my money back.

I am disappointed that I paid extra for overnight shipping, yet the package was not delivered on time. Even worse, the package is now lost, and I feel that customer service is not doing enough to investigate the matter. I am beginning to doubt their credibility and whether they even care to retrieve the missing package.

I understand that we are all struggling during these difficult times, but this situation has caused me a lot of stress and financial strain. I hope that B&H can resolve this issue soon, and I will update my review accordingly.

B&H Photo Video Terrible Customer Service Experience with B&H Photo Video for Lenovo Legion 5i Pro Purchase

I recently made a purchase from B&H Photo Video (bhphotovideo.com) for a Lenovo Legion 5i Pro and a 3-year accident protection plan. The order number was ***178 and the total cost was $1888.02. The item was shipped on March 8th, 2023, and I received it on March 10th. At first, everything was fine, but the next day, the screen wouldn't turn back on after an auto-update. I called B&H to get it fixed, but they didn't even try to troubleshoot with me. They just told me to send it back to them for an exchange. They also suggested that I call Lenovo's tech support directly, which I did. However, Lenovo also didn't try to talk me through troubleshooting and told me to send the computer to them to look at.

I called B&H again, and this time, I was told not to send it to Lenovo but to send it back to them. The agent checked their inventory and told me that they had the computer in stock and would send me a new one once I returned the old one. It would take about a week, which was frustrating, but I would still get the same computer. I sent the computer back on Monday, and I received a 'received' email the following Friday with an RMA number. I also got an email from one of their techs saying that the computer was locked, and they needed the PIN. I emailed all four techs in the email the pin code and waited, but no reply came that day or all weekend.

On Monday, March 20th, I called B&H to see the status of my exchange. The first rep I spoke to told me they were issuing a refund, which I did not want or agree to. I was told that the computer wasn't in stock and was discontinued. I was transferred to a sales associate named 'Alfred,' who was extremely rude and unhelpful. I suggested perhaps giving me the newer replacement model at the same price that I purchased the original laptop, but Alfred just scoffed at me. When I asked to speak to a manager, he told me that he's not available and must have left early. I asked to be returned to customer service, and this time I got 'Ben.' Again, I told Ben that I did not want a refund, and I wanted my computer back, a direct replacement, or the model replacing the one they promised me for the same sale price. He looked up my case and told me they were still missing the PIN. So I re-emailed all four techs and included the main customer service email. I got an automated reply that the email was received. Later that day, I got another email from 'Melody N' which said that the refund was issued. My response via email was again that I did not want the refund, and I preferred to have the computer so that I could send it directly to Lenovo.

Finally, on March 21st, I received an email saying the 3-year accident protection I purchased together with the computer was refunded. One other email from one of the Techs originally asking for my PIN saying my order was received and a refund was given. This is the first time I'm speaking/emailing the same person. I've replied to 'Chastity' (Tech) that I specifically asked for my computer to be returned if they couldn't send a replacement. And her reply is that there was no message stating what I just mentioned, and if I want, she can send me a replacement. Two minutes later, I got an email from a different customer service rep (Samuel B) saying my computer is processed and cannot be sent back.

To sum up my experience with B&H, I sent a defective computer and was promised a 1 for 1 replacement if I sent it back to them and not directly to Lenovo. I spoke to three agents on the phone (unknown, Alfred, Ben) and received emails from three customer service reps (Melody N, Stefan K, Samuel B). I sent pin emails to four Techs (Chastidy R, Luis O, Heath H, Jazmyne C) and only received a reply from Chastidy after speaking/emailing six other agents. They don't care enough about the consumer to have one rep assigned to a case, and/or they have terrible interdepartmental communication. Samuel B has "requested" a $25 gift card be sent to me, which I won't be using as I will never purchase from B&H again.

I recently got myself a printer that works with my iPhone from B&H Photo Video. Let me tell you, they have been around for ages and they really know their stuff when it comes to providing top-notch products and services.

B&H Photo Video Trustworthy and Top-Notch: My Experience with B&H Photo Video

B&H Photo Video Tech Haul Heaven: B&H Photo Video Review - Great Selection, Service, and Sustainability

I gotta say, B&H Photo Video is the real deal. They got everything you need for your photo and video needs. And if you're like me, who doesn't know much about cameras and stuff, their staff is always ready to help you out. They'll give you advice on what camera to get, what lens to use, and all that jazz. And they don't make you feel stupid for not knowing anything. They're patient and understanding, which is a huge plus in my book.

But what really blew me away is their delivery. I ordered a camera and some accessories, and I got it the next day! I mean, how crazy is that? And if you're not satisfied with your purchase, returning it is just as easy. No hassle, no fuss. Just send it back and they'll take care of the rest.

Overall, I think B&H Photo Video is simply the best. They got great selection, helpful staff, and lightning-fast delivery. I don't think there's anything they can improve on. So if you're in the market for some photo or video gear, check them out. You won't be disappointed.

B&H Photo Video Mixed Feelings: My Experience with B&H's Service in 2021

Been shopping at B&H for more than two decades now, and I gotta say, I'm a bit disappointed with their service lately. It's a bummer that they don't take orders on weekends, and they don't ship during their 10-day holidays. I mean, come on, guys, it's 2021! But hey, I'm not one to complain too much. I recently had to cancel two orders from them because I needed the items ASAP, and they just couldn't deliver. So I went ahead and ordered from another online store that's pretty popular. And guess what? The items arrived in just two days! That's what I'm talking about!

Don't get me wrong, I still like B&H. They have a great selection of products, and their prices are reasonable. But sometimes, it's just too frustrating to order from them when there are other online stores that are more reliable. I mean, when B&H finally ships your order, it takes about a week for it to arrive. That's just too long, man. But like I said, I still like B&H. I just wish they could step up their game a bit and offer better service.

B&H Photo Video Poor Customer Service: B&H Refuses to Replace Defective Gimbal

I recently purchased a gimbal from B&H Photo Video, and unfortunately, the item was defective straight out of the box. I was out of the country when the item arrived, so I wasn't able to open it until I returned home. When I finally got around to opening the package, I was disappointed to find that the gimbal was not working properly.

I reached out to B&H customer care to see if they could help me with the issue, but I was informed that since it had been over 30 days since the purchase, there was nothing they could do. They suggested that I contact the manufacturer instead. I sent an email to the manufacturer, but I didn't receive a reply. I then called them, and they told me to contact the seller to get a replacement.

I'm frustrated with the back and forth between B&H and the manufacturer. I feel like B&H should take some responsibility for shipping me a defective unit in the first place. I didn't pay for a broken item, and I shouldn't be expected to keep it.

I've always valued B&H for their quality and good prices, but this experience has been one of the worst customer experiences I've had. When I purchase an item, I expect it to be in working order. If there is a problem, I expect the company to take steps to fix it. After all, customer satisfaction is key for retaining business.

One of the reasons I shop with Amazon is because of their excellent customer service. When I had an issue with a pair of Beats By Dre headphones that stopped working after 6 months, Amazon sent me a replacement unit right away. This kind of service is what keeps me coming back to a company.

It's disappointing that B&H won't exchange a new, unused, straight from the box defective unit. I spent over $400 on this item, and now I'm stuck with a piece of junk. I hope that B&H will take steps to improve their customer service in the future.

B&H Photo Video Disappointing Experience with B&H Photo Video: Used Moto G Smartphone Not in Working Condition

It has been almost two months since I placed my initial order with B&H Photo Video for a Moto G XT1625 4th Gen. 32GB Smartphone (Unlocked, Black) Used Cat.# 1750902 MFR # 00971NARTL. I received the phone on April 12th, but unfortunately, it was not in good working condition. On April 19th, I filed an RMA complaint stating that I have purchased used technologies from many companies including HP and BestBuy, but I have never received one in such poor condition as this phone. Despite loading the requested update ten times, the phone still did not work properly and could not connect to my phone provider. I requested a replacement phone that actually works and is in the same perfect physical condition or new for shipped for free.

On April 22nd, I received the RMA label and pre-paid return label(s) attached to an email as a PDF document. However, it was not until May 14th that I received a replacement phone. To my dismay, the phone appeared to be the same exact phone with the same exact issues as the first one. It could not connect and kept requesting an update.

On May 18th, I contacted B&H via chat and expressed my frustration. I have been a loyal customer of B&H for over 25 years and have always received great service, but this experience has been appalling. I was informed that they are unable to replace the phone since it is used. I strongly believe that B&H should not sell what they cannot deliver in working order or substitute with a working model.

I even filed a BBB complaint, but unfortunately, they refuse to get me a working phone. It is disappointing that after all these years of being a loyal customer, I have to go through such a frustrating experience. I hope that B&H can rectify this situation and provide me with a working phone as soon as possible.

B&H Photo Video B&H Photo Video Review: Defective Product and Poor Customer Service

Yo, so I gotta say, I ordered this dive light from B&H Photo Video for $300 and it was straight up defective. Like, one of the main functions was missing and I was not happy about it. And let me tell you, the whole process of getting a replacement was a pain in the butt.

First of all, I had to pay import taxes when I ordered the light, which was fine at the time. But when I sent the defective product back to B&H, they sent me a replacement without pre-paid import taxes. So when the carrier delivered the new light, they hit me up for another $75 in taxes. Like, what the heck? I already paid twice for the same thing.

And to make matters worse, B&H is refusing to reimburse me for one of the import taxes. I've been emailing back and forth with their customer service since September and they haven't offered any solutions or compensation. They always start their messages with "Thank you for contacting the Customer Service Department at B&H Photo Video and Pro Audio" and end with "Please let me know if you require any further assistance." But they haven't actually helped me out at all.

I did some research and found out that European customs have the same process as US customs when it comes to import taxes. If a product is imported and then leaves the country for any reason (like a defect), it's up to the payer (in this case, B&H) to file a drawback claim and get the taxes refunded. But B&H hasn't done that, so I'm stuck paying for something that wasn't even my fault.

Honestly, if I had just asked for a refund instead of a replacement, I wouldn't have had to deal with all this. But I wanted the light and I thought B&H would make it right. Turns out, they don't really care about their customers.

B&H Photo Video Beware of B&H: Tricky Returns and Defective Products

I gotta say, I had a bit of a rough time with B&H. I mean, don't get me wrong, they had some good prices and all, but they can be a bit tricky when it comes to returns. I had returned a few binoculars before, but that was only because they were already opened and used by other customers. You know what I mean? Like, the strap was just laying loose in the box and all that. So, I figured it was fair game to return them.

But then, I went and bought this fancy $2200 Vespera Telescope from B&H. I was pretty excited about it, and I planned on keeping it for sure. I mean, who wouldn't want a telescope like that, right? But, when I got it, it turned out to be defective. I was pretty bummed out, but I figured it was no big deal. I mean, I could just exchange it, right?

Well, that's where things got a bit tricky. B&H sent me an email saying that they wouldn't exchange it because my return rate was too high. I mean, come on, that's not fair, is it? I've returned stuff at other websites before, and I've never been banned from returning items. So, I filed a dispute with the BBB, because I think what they're doing is pretty unfair.

I mean, I get it, they don't want people returning stuff all the time, but come on, if something's defective, they should at least exchange it, right? It's not like I'm trying to scam them or anything. And, if they're worried about losing money, they could just return the scope to the seller and get reimbursed. It's not rocket science.

Anyway, I just wanted to warn you guys to be careful when buying from B&H. Make sure you're not going to return the item, and hope that it's not defective. If you do need to return something, you might run into some trouble. And, if you look at the reviews, you'll see that I'm not the only one who's had issues with B&H. There are a lot of one-star reviews where people complain about receiving used and returned items, and cases where B&H was reluctant to allow returns and exchanges.

So, yeah, just be careful. B&H likes to sell stuff, but they don't like taking returns, no matter what their Return Policy says.

B&H Photo Video Poor Customer Service Experience with B&H Photo Video for International Shopper

My experience with B&H Photo Video was not the best, but after reading some reviews on other sites, I realized that I was not alone. As an international shopper, I had to submit a verification, which is understandable, but I had to do it 4-5 times. I also contacted their customer service 3-4 times, but every time I emailed them, they sent me a useless reference number that I couldn't use to follow up.

After 6 days, I decided to DM them on Twitter, and I was able to get in touch with one of the directors (communication). He seemed helpful, so I emailed them my last verification with my ID and work email, and I asked them if they needed more information. However, I received no reply, just another reference number. I waited until Monday, but still no response.

By this point, more than 15 days had passed, and I had received a lot of reference numbers. I decided to email the latest one to their communication director, hoping he would give me an update. Instead, he replied to me in a discriminatory tone, assuming that because I had an Arab name, I must still ride a camel and live in a tent. He did not explain what had happened with the verification team, but instead told me that the number I emailed was not the order number.

I was very unhappy with this response, so I decided to cancel my order. I typed my reasons for canceling, hoping that someone would get back to me for clarification, but they canceled it instantly. I was disappointed that I wasted so much time following up with their bot and receiving useless reference numbers.

Overall, my experience with B&H Photo Video was not great. I hope that they can improve their customer service and treat all customers with respect, regardless of their name or nationality.

B&H Photo Video B & H Photo & Electronics Review: A Wild Experience with Terrible Customer Service

I gotta say, I had a pretty wild experience with B & H Photo & Electronics. I was feeling pretty excited when I ordered a MacbookPro for a whopping $3000, and I was eagerly waiting for it to arrive at my office via Fedex. The delivery was supposed to happen on a Monday, so I was keeping a close eye on the tracking number. But then, when the tracking said it had been delivered, I went down to my doorman to pick it up, and he couldn't find it. I was freaking out, and to make matters worse, the Fedex guy had signed my name on my behalf! What the heck, right?

I asked the doorman to check with the Fedex guy the next day, but there was no luck. So, I called up B & H Photo & Electronics to explain the situation, and after waiting for a whopping 38 minutes, a representative finally took some notes and said they would open an investigation. But then, 3 HOURS LATER (yes, you read that right), they sent me an email saying that the investigation was closed and they couldn't help me. They told me to file a claim with Fedex or something. I was so shocked and disappointed. I mean, $3000 is a lot of money to just forget about, you know?

So, I decided to call up Fedex directly, and I was transferred to a manager of manager who told me that B & H Photo & Electronics didn't even open a claim! In fact, they had no record of them even calling on this tracking number. But then, the manager suggested that I check another address in a building few blocks away since it was very similar to my address, and they saw that few times packages were left there because of the driver's confusion. What the heck, right? But then, I checked that address, and luckily, the package was there.

But honestly, after all that, I decided to return the MacbookPro and not give B & H Photo & Electronics my hard-earned money. Instead, I went to Adorama or even better, Amazon. But guess what? When I requested a return, they said they would deduct the amount from my order. What the heck, right? I mean, I was already so disappointed with their service, and now they were trying to rip me off even more.

So, I gotta say, if you don't want to get ripped off by B & H Photo & Electronics, stay away. I hope my story can help other people save their money.

B&H Photo Video Mixed Review: Great Deals, Poor Customer Service at BHphotovideo

This website is a great place to shop for items that are sold at MSRP price. I personally love shopping on this site because I don't have to pay tax. But what really keeps me coming back are their daily sale items. If you're looking for a particular item on sale, this is the place to be.

However, I must say that their customer service is not the best. If you're used to shopping on Amazon, you'll know that you can always count on them to deliver your item on time or compensate you if something goes wrong with your order. Unfortunately, BHphotovideo doesn't offer the same level of service. If your order arrives late or if there's a problem with it, all you'll get is an apology.

Let me give you an example. Two weeks ago, I ordered a $300 item that was on sale for $155. I paid $20 for shipping because apparently "everything ships free" except for that item. Unfortunately, UPS messed up my shipment and damaged it in the process. They never even attempted to deliver the item, they just returned it to the sender without my consent.

When I contacted BHphotovideo to ask for a replacement, they said that they wouldn't send me a new one until they received the damaged item back from UPS. I asked them to contact the manufacturer to send me a new one, but they said that the item was discontinued and they couldn't order another one for me. However, I found the exact same item on the manufacturer's website and sent them the link. But the representative I chatted with said that he couldn't open the link, even though I copied and pasted it directly from my browser.

So in the end, I won't be receiving my order and they refused to send me a replacement because they ran out of stock and refused to contact the manufacturer to send me a replacement. If you decide to shop with them, just be aware that you're taking a risk. They do have great deals on some very specific products, but there's always a chance that something could go wrong with your order.

B&H Photo Video Poor Customer Service Experience with B & H Photo Video

B & H Photo Video is a website that I recently made two purchases from on July 5, 2011. I was excited to receive my packages in Miami, as I had ordered them from Peru. However, I was disappointed to find that neither package had been delivered. One package was held at UPS, while the other was returned to NY for no apparent reason, even though both packages were supposed to be held in Miami. When I contacted the B & H Call Center, I spoke with Gabriel Mu?oz, who provided me with terrible service and made promises that he could not keep.

I also requested that the package that was in NY be sent to Miami with urgency, as I needed it within two days. B & H charged me a low fee of $41.90 for this service, but I believe that they should have assumed the cost, as it was their mistake. When I spoke with Gabriel Mu?oz on July 18, 2011, he was unable to resolve the issue, and I lost an entire day dealing with the problem. I had to go to UPS three times, and each time they told me that they had no knowledge of the arrangements that Gabriel Mu?oz had supposedly made. When I called B & H again at 5:30 pm, I was given a different version of the conversation that had taken place earlier in the day.

I would like B & H to listen to the calls that I had with Gabriel Mu?oz and David Lopez, as they were both unhelpful and rude. David Lopez even made me cry on the phone, which is unacceptable behavior for someone who works in customer service. I have made purchases from B & H in the past, and I had no problems with my order in 2009, which was for $1223.00. However, after the poor treatment that I received this year, I do not want to use their services again. I hope that B & H will take action to improve their customer service and prevent similar incidents from happening in the future.

B&H Photo Video B&H Photo Video's Customer Service is Disappointing and Unhelpful

I used to be a big fan of B&H Photo Video, spending a lot of money on their website every year. However, my recent experience with their customer service has completely changed my opinion. I had placed an order for a single item before 11AM and paid for overnight shipping, as it was crucial for my business to receive it the next day. However, I received a notification that the shipping label had only been printed a few minutes before 7PM, making me suspect that the item had not actually been shipped. The next morning, I tried to cancel the order, but the representative I spoke to was unhelpful and told me to wait and see if it arrived on time. I called back a few hours later when I noticed that there was no activity on the UPS tracking, but was met with the same unhelpful response. Despite my pleas, no one seemed to care about my situation or the fact that I was a loyal customer.

Fast forward 15 days and 6 phone calls later, and I am still dealing with the aftermath of this one order. Each representative I speak to seems to be disinterested in helping me, and I am left feeling frustrated and unimportant. To add insult to injury, my refund did not include the shipping charges, meaning that I am paying for their mistake. I even emailed customer service, but have yet to receive a response.

It is disappointing to see a business that does such high volume treat their customers with such apathy and laziness. I am no longer a customer of B&H Photo Video, and I caution others to be wary of the frustration they may face if they have an issue with their order. I would much rather do business with a company that values their customers, communicates any issues with shipping, and genuinely wants to resolve any problems that arise. It seems like too much to ask for from B&H Photo Video, but perhaps other businesses can learn from their mistakes.

B&H Photo Video Beware of B&H: Disappointing Quality and Customer Service

I recently had an experience with B&H that I feel compelled to share with others. I ordered some new equipment from their website and paid $795 plus an $82 delivery charge. The ordering process was straightforward and the delivery was fast, which was great. However, when I received the goods, I was disappointed to find that some of the suction cups did not hold suction for more than two minutes. I paid an additional $97 in tax and returned the goods, which was a straightforward procedure and B&H provided good support in issuing return labels.

I received replacement equipment, but this time I had to pay an additional $110 delivery charge and a further $104 tax on delivery. To my dismay, the equipment was well-used stock with numerous marks, dents, scratches, and a vital attachment thread stripped rendering it unusable. I contacted B&H to advise them that I was not satisfied, but they refused to accept that the goods were used and asked for photographs. I provided photos that clearly showed signs of use, and the manufacturer confirmed that the condition was not the same as when it was supplied new.

Despite this, B&H continued to maintain that the items were supplied in new condition and refused to acknowledge the possibility that a mistake might have been made. I pointed out that they had two used units for sale on their website priced at $500, but they only offered me a $75 refund. I refused and after considerable time and inconvenience, I received notification from B&H that a refund of $226 had been made as a final offer. They did not ask if this was acceptable to me, nor did they give me an opportunity to respond.

By this time, I had paid $513 more than I should have for a used item that was unusable. Understandably, I was not happy with the refund of $226. I then advised B&H that I would not accept their offer and that I would like to return the item for a full refund. However, B&H responded by stating that they would not accept the return of the item as it was now used!

Overall, my experience with B&H was disappointing and frustrating. While the ordering process and delivery were fast and straightforward, the quality of the equipment and the customer service left a lot to be desired. I would caution others to be careful when ordering from B&H and to be prepared for the possibility of receiving defective or used equipment.

B&H Photo Video Pixel 6 bait and switch

I pre-ordered a Pixel 6 with a case from B&H's online site.

They held my purchase for over 2 months with no updates or heads up, despite Google stocks not showing any signs of depletion.

They got back to me with a sudden message saying they will not stock it, and removed the Pixel 6 from my cart, then sending out the case anyway.

They refused to compensate me for the shipping fees or the cost of the case, despite my reply within 24 hours telling them to cancel the shipping.

Desired outcome: B&H should fully absorb the cost of the case without return.They should apologize for wasting customers' time and promise to be more transparent about pre-order status.

I have purchased Canon Lens from B&H Photo Video website and received the wrong model. Customer service was absolutely unhelpful. They tried to assure me to keep it and said that they will refund the price difference. I refused and demanded a full refund but they said no. Lens which I received did not match with my camera, there was no way I could use it. Because of these scammers I lost my money!

B&H Photo Video Very disappointed

Ordered a laptop from B&H Photo Video website and when my laptop finally arrived it was damaged. I contacted customer service right away and asked for a replacement.
They said that first I have to send the broken laptop back and only then I'll get a new one. I asked for a return label and they said that I need to return it at my own expense. It was quite expensive but I had no other choice so I paid for the return shipping. Later they contacted me and said that if I wanted to get a replacement I was suppose to pay for the shipping!
Avoid them at all costs!

B&H Photo Video Review not published which against B&H on their own website

I have purchased nikon lense 50mm 1.8D from B&H. it shipped to me used even i purchased as new.
i return item to B&H for new replacement. but at same time i left feedback on item which contain problem i passed through.
this review was against B&H so they never posted on net. after 6 weeks latter i received email for sorry. i asked why my review feedback not shown on their webpage as reply to email. below is reply i got.

addendum -
as replacement i got new lense without and questions. i like b&h return policy. but they should show my trouble which i left as review.

I decided to make transfer from nikon to canon and purchased canon 5D from B&H Photo Video. I paid almost $5k for my camera and as present they’ve added flash unit to my order. At least they’ve promised to add it but in reality I’ve never received anything besides camera.

We regret the customer's dissatisfaction and his confusion. There was never an offer to include a free flash unit with any Canon dslr camera. The customer ordered a camera & lens kit, memory card and spare battery. We shipped exactly that. When this order was placed Canon USA had two rebate programs which included a discount of the customer bought a camera and printer together, but none for a flash or speedlight.

We appreciate the OP's comments and regret his dissatisfaction. We have a review system for customers to tell us about their shopping experience and whether or not they're satisfied. We read each, take them all seriously, and use this feedback to help improve our service. We also maintain a system for product reviews and for those we require the review be on topic and limited to a discussion of the product itself, excluding the shopping experience which is not relevant to a product review, We advised the OP of this and suggested if he wanted he could resubmit an on-topic review of the lens and advise of us the specific nature of his dissatisfaction with our order fulfillment separately.
