Reading all the reviews, and got scared
I was reading all of the bad reviews, and I was running into some issues because I wasn't totally sure on all the rules behind their system. I was nervous, so I called my landlord to see how the checks are coming in and if everything is ok, and he's like everything is fine. I sent a ticket, they got right back to me, fixed my issue lightning fast. There really isn't any other option, I maybe wrong to get credits for paying rent, so just for that I have to throw them some positivity. Then boom, pop on Amazon, and have credits lined up, I mean, is it really that bad? No yearly fee? I am just saying
Worst experience
Approved for BILT credit card on April 7th.
Confirmed receiving the card on May 3rd.
After 2 weeks, this BILT app is still showing “account information unavailable, will be updated once it’s approved.”
Spoken to customer service for almost 40 minutes, got transferred 6 times, got kicked around like a ball. Need to verify my personal information and explain my issue EVERY TIME. Yet NO ONE can help me.
WORST banking experience. I have had banking experience with Wells Fargo years ago and it was unpleasant. This one is even more horrible. I would stay away from Wells Fargo for a life time.
Initially called the phone number on the back of my card [protected], got cold transferred to [protected], then cold transferred to [protected], then cold transferred to [protected], then transferred back to 2272 number, then transferred to [protected], then transferred back to 2272 number. Worst nightmare, closed account and be done with Wells Fargo.
My money was taken out of my account without my consent!
I recently got my money taken out of my personal account for the rent fee WITHOUT MY CONSENT from Bilt Rewards! Tomorrow is the last day of the rent, and I can’t even talk to this company to get my money back! I have called the APT Management to find out what happened, because I have been paying with my eCheck for the last 4 months. I even gave my personal check in person for this month because we are moving out. When I reached out to our Management, they told me that I should report to the bank for Fraud and stop the transaction immediately, and I did. Make the long story short, I have to go back to the bank tomorrow first thing in the morning again, because I couldn’t get it done today. Also, I have to notify or call all the autopay as well after I get my new account. Currently, my account froze, and I have to cancel my original check. Then, I have to pay and make a Cashier’s check tomorrow from my new account to pay the rent fee! The funny thing is, even our APT Management don’t even have Bilt Rewards contact number as well! All we can do is just to get a ticket from the app and wait for them to contact us. This is totally RIDICULOUS!
Fake Reviews, this is a step backward, sketchy
Don't let the many good reviews fool you. Most are manipulated.
Bilt has been aggressively partnering with large rental communities - and slowly forcing to use the app. In my own community I've seen it go from "Bilt is optional" to "We really want you to use Bilt" to "We're making website changes that further discourage making any payments outside Bilt".
Rental community management loves it. Residents don't. The benefits they tout look interesting - but read the fine print. The rewards are near impossible to get anythjng meaningful with - it's just a crappy credit card points program. Reporting rent on your credit report sounds nice - until you read the fine print on BILT's terms of service for the feature and see that they almost completely remove all obligation to fix reporting errors. This means if Bilt, or your community, screws up rent payment processing, it will ding your credit report and Bilt isn't on the hook to fix it. Read it - seriously it's shifty.
Next is the app itself. The app regularly misreports the balance and differs directly with what my community reports on their portal.
And then is their autopay. Rent due on the 2nd? Bilt will submit the payment at 3pm ET on the 2nd - nothing like a photo finish to see if Bilt will make your rent late right? And then let's say you see that and try and make a manual payment and cancel this month's autopay? Well - BAM you just paid your rent twice - because they won't stop/change the autopay if your balance changes. Double charged - call support and get it reversed.
Seriously. All real experiences. RUN. Avoid this app as long as you can. It's too good to be true, and my experiences have been mirrored by people in my community too.
And now - they're pushing advertisements via thier mobile app with no way to turn them off. Slimy.
Seriously - I was so excited about Bilt but after being involved with them for several months it's just been one big corporate sketchfest.

Rewards
I bought some tickets for Universal Studios on September 12... to enter on September 15 with rewards points and I showed up on September 15 with my confirmation and I couldn't enter, the system said they were for September 14. I'm asking the return of my points..

Bilt Rewards travel confirmation - Sep 15 - (Itinerary # [protected])
Terms and conditions
Hello, my ticket for this transaction is (756353). My complaint is, I did not receive any points for transactions I made on the first. This was because of Bilt new terms regarding Curve. If you’re going to change the terms, I employ you to send out an email regarding the changes rather then simply making an update for the app. I was not aware of these changes that accrued and because of this my rep I spoke with (Brianna) told me their wasn’t anything she could do. So your ok with taking the charges so the bank can get there money but you won’t give me warning or my points? That is terrible customer service and reflects poorly on the company.
Desired outcome: Give a one time pass and give me all the points I would have received for my transactions.
Bilt to liaise with Wells Fargo to rectify the adverse impact on my credit score due to the system glitch.
Hello everyone, I wanted to share an experience I've had with Bilt and am hoping to find a resolution. In brief: I've been trying to set up AutoPay via the Bilt platform. When trying to pay rents from the my account, instead of the MasterCard, I encountered problems. Although I followed the process thoroughly, and even received confirmation emails, the...

Can't use reward points, no customer service
I first contacted Bilt August 2nd because I was receiving a "problem processing payment" error message. After retrying only using points and contacting customer service numerous times, I was told it's an internal issue with my account. Since August 2nd I have called and messaged numerous times. It's still broken and now there is no phone number to even call for help, as it has changed to a french travel agency.
Desired outcome: Fix my account
Can’t add home address
I can’t even add home address in app. After I entered my address it pops out a page saying ‘your home is yet not part of bilt reward alliance’ and when I click the close tab upper left it returns to homepage. It never allows me to add my home address. Very frustrated as I am not able to pay rent by this card without adding my home

Avoid an extra credit card!
The app is full of bugs and I haven’t seen it improved. The support is not very helpful and the pass you to Wells Fargo support most of the time (the whole reason for getting bilt was to avoid big banks but here we are again).
The travel portal is provided by expidia and there are so many good cheaper options outside of it.
I would not recommend it!

They lied
They said you can pay with credit cards with no fee. You can’t. It’s a 3% fee. Which at my apartment meant an extra 40 bucks to my rent.
Ignore the developer response. That is a lie. I was with their customer service for almost an hour for them to finally tell me, “there will be a 3% charge if you use a credit card to pay rent.” Do not get use this service.

LISTEN TO REVIEWS
I rarely write app reviews. But beware this has no customer service. App is about getting rent rewards BUT WILL NOT EVEN SEND YOUR CHECK. Then, trying to reach out to some type of customer service is playing a back and forth game of whose department process.
And Developers don’t respond by saying reach out to Theo because obviously that doesn’t work either.

Buggy
Was approved for the Bilt card on Wells Fargo’s end but this isn’t reflected in the Bilt App.
Today I logged out of the app in an effort to see if this would enable me to see my card in the Bilt App. Instead of working as it should, the app glitches every time I attempt to log in. I’m hesitant to use my card and pay rent via the app until these issues are resolved.

Can’t set up payment and abysmal tech support to help
Maybe this is good if it lets you actually pay rent. But so far I’m unimpressed and feel like the “support” team is one teenager who is playing video games and occasionally texting the same question over and over without helping.
There’s a bug in the app that doesn’t let you add your home which doesn’t let you pay your rent. Kinda a big problem. The instructions don’t match the UX.

App NOT customer friendly l
The idea behind what BILT is trying to do is terrific. The problem is the interface is so confusing, you cannot quickly see your account balance and what you owe. Long processing times often makes rent payments late incurring penalties.
Reward program as well lacks an easy way to find what you’re looking for. When it comes to rent setting up Zello or auto pay from your bank account is much easier and less risky of Late fees.

Double charges for rent several times
If I had not spent hours on the phone with them several times and checking up on my account over and over again, I would have ended up paying double rent at least 3 times, even after alerting them to the issues. Their payment system is terrible, fraudulent at best. I stopped using this card simply so I would not have to check up on their inept “service,” which cost me time, money and headache. I will never use them again. Not at all worth the trouble.

Horrible customer service
Was really displease by the lack of customer service. I tried to connect my bank account through “plaid”, but it wouldn’t connect. I hate that it FORCED me to enter my personal bank info manually. Why offer that option if it won’t work? I tried all different ways, even through my Chase account. I looked for their contact info only to text a number and a response that said “a human” will get back to me. Hours later no call back. Let’s hope you improve over time.

Confused
Every time I pay rent I get a different set of rules for my points and how they are applied. I paid in November and got almost 2900 points. I paid in December and I got 250.
It’s very close to being too much trouble to deal with except no other payment app does Anything.
These people do rebate sometimes so slightly better than nothing.
Their Customer Service people are obviously swamped as they are trying to get to the next customer so again, slightly better than nothing.

Beware if you watch your credit inquiries
I applied for the Bilt credit card but I have a fraud alert on my social security (this has been no big deal with other banks they verify my identify and run my credit). Not Wellsfargo. They ran my credit then tried to verify my identify ran my credit again without my consent. Two hard pulls and TERRIBLE customer service. I withdrew my application and will take my business elsewhere. Bilt sounds great in theory but the partnership with Wellfargo has ruined my opinion of them.

Customer service is non Existent
Customer service is absolutely non existent. You will never get ahold of a person. I have been trying to get in contact with someone for almost a week now. Calling, texting, emailing and their chat bot. The will write fake “ticket” numbers and never respond. Then when you get ahold of a phone number they transfer you to random places until you get to the “customer service” that every time you call says “3 customers are ahead of you” and keep you on hold for hours. No one will ever reach back out to you.

It’s a trap!
To pay rent you need all the funds on your account, so what’s the point of being a credit card?
They don’t tell you that you need to have the funds so I submitted the payment on my ResidentPortal and since the payment failed I had to pay a fee of $75 plus 10% of my rent ($300) for late payment, since they don’t tell you the payment failed until a day or two later, which is after the deadline.
All this without counting the highest APR I have seen on a credit card.
When I contact BILT support they were helpless!

Do not recommend
It’s not worth it! the customer experience is an absolute nightmare. It is not worth the hassle, was repetitively, charged late fees and interest on a $0 bill. Too many service departments to be bounced around between and told different information. Every first of the month I spent at least two hours on the phone. Ended up canceling the card because on the last day of the month my account was flagged for “fraud” without any contact. Rent payment was stopped- now incurred more late fees from my management company that outweigh any value of this card.
