My name is Annette Leathers. Our account # is 246649. My husband and I are bronze owners. We decided to exit the program for the following reasons:
1. Limited availability to make reservations.
2. Rising maintenance fees.
3. Decreasing property standard.
To add to this, we had our reservations cancelled by Bluegreen in May of 2023 for a mid-July booking in Ormond Beach, Florida. I booked two rooms in August of 2022. In October of 2022, the resort was hit by a hurricane and closed for repairs and was due to open July 1, 2023. If I had been informed of the closing at the time it happened, I could have made a decision on whether to risk the resort re-opening on time, or canceling my reservations and book at another beach-front Bluegreen resort. As a result, our family beach vacation that we had been eagerly looking forward to was now impossible. There were no rooms available 90 days from our vacation. Needless to say, we were beyond upset.
I called Bluegreen in May of 2023 to exit the program. I was advised at that time that the cost for exiting would be one-years maintenance fee (approximately $2,000.00). I was also advised that most people wishing to exits would wait until their maintenance fees were due to exit, as you would have 60 days after paying your fees to use your points even though you were exiting. I followed that advised and have waited until now, November 2023 to begin the exit process as maintenance fees are now due. I was just informed that the policy has changed and the exit fee is now the cost of two and one half years maintenance fee (approximately $4,700.00). I am furious! I followed the advise of your department. I trusted their advised. I should be given the terms that were in place in May of 2023 when I called. I asked to speak to a supervisor and told that there was none. After insisting, I was told that she would send out some emails and see if she could have someone call me. I am waiting.
Desired outcome: I want the terms for exiting as stated to me in May of 2023.
