faulty engine / very bad customer service
Took my BMW 520 d 2007 into BMW Dick Lovett Ltd Bristol for routine service. They overfilled the engine oil and I returned the car to dealership to fix the problem. After checking this, the service advisor used the corporate bull line of "oil is at optimum" and pointed out to me that as my car was a revised model it was equipped with both electronic oil level sensor display in iDrive and manual dipstick. When I checked again myself both readings corresponded as "engine oil level too high!" which can potentially damage the engine as advised in BMW handbook. Contacted the dealership again to rectify the problem and check a new problem of possible engine bearing noise, on a car with approx. 52k on the clock. First the good news, they reduced the engine oil level, the bad news, engine timing chain permanently damaged as a result of loose timing chain tension-er and also possible damage to crankshaft. Because the car was out of the 3 year manufactures warranty, I was given a bill of approx. £3, 500.00, which I refused to pay on the grounds of me adhering to all BMW servicing requirements and the car having done less than 60k and only 4 years old. (After all this is supposed to be the "Ultimate Driving Machine!") After a while, I reluctantly agreed to pay approx. £1, 300.00 on condition the car was repaired in 3 days on advice and promise from the dealership themselves. Car repaired not in 3 days but over 2 weeks later and no apology from BMW or courtesy car given or goodwill to write off the bill. Would you believe it, they overfilled the engine oil again " ABSOLUTE COWBOYS! ".
It's worth pointing out that the service advisor asked me where I purchased the car, I replied truthfully from a BMW specialist auction. The BMW Dick Lovett deputy dealer principal said the dealership and BMW UK would not cover the approx. £1, 300.00 bill because of me buying the car at auction and not from within the dealership network. What is shocking is that the deputy dealer principal admitted to me, that they also buy BMW's from auctions to sell on their forecourts! " ONE RULE FOR THEM, ANOTHER RULE FOR US! ---- AVOID THESE COWBOYS LIKE THE PLAGUE! ---- BUY YOURSELF A KIA WITH 7 YEARS WARRANTY! ---- BMW SHOULD STAND FOR = BELOW MINIMUM WARRANTY! "
unethical & illegal business practices
During the sales process of a BMW X3 2008 ($35, 000) BMW made a written quote stating that BMW will provide an dextended warrranty of the vehicle until 2016. They provided twoo documents to this effect (the quote and the options doc).
At contract signing time (after they received Bank Drafts for payment of the vehicle) the contract had been modified to show warranty only unitl 2014.
The condition to purchase this vehocel from the client side was precisely to have BMW warranty the vehicle until 2016.
The staff at BMW West Island behaved in an unethical and illegal manner contrary to BMW international standards for client satisfaction and relationship management.

I have purchased from this dealership and I am very satisfied ... very good service and very helpful
Ive purchased from this dealership and I am very satisfied ... very good service and very helpful
Hi, I bought an used BMW X3 from BMW West Island dealership last July 2011. My sunroof was broken during January 2012 within a few months of the purchase. I was told during purchase that I had an extended warranty for almost all parts of the car. I too have an 2 year extended warranty and it is a BMW certified car. When I approached the BMW West Island to fix my Sunroof, I was told that it does not cover under warranty and I need to pay a total of $2050 ($217 for parts and 12hrs labour $1560 + TAX). To my shock, I approached all the relevant department's managers to sort this issue and cover my service under warranty. I was denied my justice. Last month I was asked to bring the car for diagnosis and to re-estimate the cost. Now this time the parts list has gone up to around 2000 dollars! and the labour of 15hrs! When I showed my earlier work order BMW west Island played safe and agreed to honour my previous work order price. I left the vehicle for sunroof servicing on May16th 2012 but got back my vehicle only on June 13th Wednesday. I am asked to pay for the car rental $500! When I left the car for servicing on May 16th 2012, Dino Yanakis promised me that as long as the service is done the customer pay only $29.95 for the rental. They told me that the parts are not available with BMW canada so they kept my vehicle for 1 month and charged me the car rental of around $500.
Could someone please help and advise if I could file a suit for this type of customer services? Thanks.
I spoke with the sales representative Dustin Porporino followed by the sales manager Johan Wertheimer. Discussed my issue with the technical advisors Peter Arsever and Dino Yanakis. Having the issue unsolved took the matter with Warranty administrator Eujene Laferrierre followed by service manager Gilles. Also the customer service manager Normand Masson could not help. Finally I spoke with the General Manager Yves Chabot but of no use!. I have been under going this inconvenience and frustration for last 4 months now.
I feel I should not pay any money for this defective parts. Also they charged me the car rental for 1 month as the parts are not available. Please advise me what should I do now? Thanks. I left the car for sunroof repair on May16th 2012 and got back my car on June 13th 2012 after 4 weeks! I have been charged the car rental of $575 (incl. tax). The reason quoted for 4 weeks delay was the incorrect parts supplied by BMW Canada and parts back order

engine failure at 40,000km
We bought a new bmw 325i, id no: wbawn310x0py99286, in november 2007, from bmw dealer, bavaria, baneasa, bucuresti.
Our bmw was submitted up to now to three periodic technical revisions to bavaria service and we have right according to purchasing contract to submit the car for revisions up to five years, free of charge.
All three times we were assured that the car is working perfectly.
After only 5, 000km since the last third technical revision, with a total of 40, 000km on board, we found a noise on engine and an abnormal running of engine.
Immediately we brought the car to bavaria service.
When they received the car informed us that is good they got it, because they will replace free of charge all injectors, as a decision of bmw group, (The existing injectors being not suitable for the engines).
After a period of about one month, we were informed that one piston is defect and for this, they will replace the engine with a new one.
On 19 january we were informed by bavaria service that we should support half of the cost of replacement.
warranty
i bought a used BMW 328 last year with a certified warranty. The ty rods went out recently and they are refusing to fix, saying this is a 'wear item;' like brakes or tires. I have never heard of ty rods going out on a car that has less that 50k miles.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
I am outraged with this organization. I purchased a certified pre-owned vehicle in April 2005. I told the sales rep that I would only purchase the vehicle if I could get a warranty plan with it that would last as long as the 60 month note. I knew I would not exceed the 100, 000 mileage due to the close proximity of my job. My only concern was the length of the warranty. He sold me a 100, 000/72 month extended warranty. I took it in for service this Monday and the dealership is trying to charge me $2500.00 because they say it is out of warranty. I am being told that the 72 month period actually started when the vehicle was originally retailed which was November 2003. That is OUTRAGEOUS! Why the hell would I purchase an extended warranty from the time I didn't even own the vehicle. This is ludicrous. The salesman committed fraud and all their customer service can say is sorry about that.

parts and service scam
Asked United BMW to install a suspension upgrade kit on a new 2011 BMW.
United BMW only installed half of the parts. The parts they did install were installed incorrectly. They rounded-off a few bolts. A four wheel alignment performed as part of the installation was massively hosed up.
United BMW said that they sold me a different suspension that did only contain half of the parts, but cost the same amount of money.
The service invoice cited the BMW part number of a product United BMW advertised prominently featuring the missing parts.
United BMW asked for another $1, 500 to complete the suspension upgrade with all the required parts.
United BMW insisted the four wheel alignment was done correctly even though toe-out was massively out of spec on all four wheels, and there was a .5 degree difference in camber between the two rear wheels.
United BMW billed me ten hours labor to hose up my suspension. A local tire store did the same work and only billed me four hours labor, 2.5 times less.
By the way, check out prestoreviews dot com. PrestoReviews is a company that creates fake positive reviews for auto dealerships (*cough*CAEEDUCKETT4606 et al*/cough).
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
United BMW is not a god place to do business. They are massively out of whack with their fees and quality. I suggest taking them off your list.
bmw 5 series problems
Bmw 5 series 2011 misting problems, ac problems, steering problems
The new 5 series 2011 model has problems with economy as well as misting up at times at start up. Rear ac problems, freezing air from rear central vent, bmw says this is normal for the 5 series. Do not trust the reviews for this vehicle. Dealers do not mention inherent problems. The new 2011 5 series is a huge disappointment, and definitly not recommended.
The BMW 2011 new 5 series is really not what they say it is.
Purchased the car new June 2011. The car was booked with BMW dealership for two days to check and rectify the problem. Re-programmed AC and updated all software. The problem still persists. The instruction manuel says this car mists up on occassions. The dealership had explained that they are BMW Franchise Dealership Sytner, and I need to contact BMW UK as there is nothing more they can do. I contacted BMW UK, there response was that I should book it in at a BMW dealership, its known as passing the buck here in the UK.
Discussed this problem with another BMW dealer, Coopers, who said it is normal occurance in the 5 series to mist up, and the rear central console only blows out cold air, there is significant temperature difference compared to the front vents, and that I need to turn it completly off at the rear to avoid freezing rear passengers. This is an inherent design fault in the 5 series that BMW refuse to accept. Bmw has clearly stated the existing problem in the instruction manuel. I would sell the vehicle sooner, but too busy at the moment.
How long ago did you buy the vehicle? If it was not that long ago then you should take it back to the dealership and have them inspect it. Complain to the dealership manager. Usually BMW dealerships are very good at customer service.

false advertising
I drove many miles round trip to see a car advertised on their website and on an online cars for sale site. My email confirmed my appointment with the internet manager but when I got there the car was sold. I went online to check them out and saw that they have done this before. Best of all BMW USA lets them get away with this.
How would you feel after driving 2 hours and the advertised car is not there ? What a scam -lure people to dealership by adveritsing cars that are already sold.
Great job in protecting consumers BMW USA

dissapointing purchase
Bmw india
Hi,
Please be patient in reading this email from an aggrieved loyal, hence taken for granted customer.
due to pathetic, deplorable and shocking product quality, I had to face end number of problems which seems has no end!
i have purchased bmw 320d high line monaco blue color bearing chassis no vk61166 on 25/03/2010 from navnit motors mumbai & I must say that my horrifying experience starts herewith and seems it was the worst decision of my life.
i had to go through tremendous agony and pain in getting my new bmw serviced in the very first week of its purchase, truly unbelievable.
set of problems start from here -
surprise # 1 & ndash; after 3 days of purchase, I get a message on the mid, stating lhs tail lamp failure. I went ahead and showed it to the service station and asked them for an explanation on how a failure can occur in a brand new bmw, reply received was unexpected and unacceptable as they had no clue and stringently replied that it’s an electronic failure, and cannot do anything about it.
surprise # 2 - when I told them to get it fixed, they replied very abruptly that the stock for lhs tail lamp is not in and need to wait for 15 days, when asked for reason on non-availability, no proper response received.
surprise # 3 - after that on 14/04/2010 they call me up to get it replaced, which I got it done and thought this was the end of my troubles, but I was wrong.
surprise # 4 & ndash; the very next day the rhs rear light stops working, and I follow the same above procedure to get the same replaced.
surprise # 5 & ndash; a week later to all this troubles, I get my rc card & to my horror, I read that my bmw car is sept 2010 manufacture, which means that I was sold a 6 months old manufactured car by navnit motors.
surprise # 6 & ndash; I still somehow manage to anguish my pain and the feeling of being cheated & fooled by bmw india, but soon another problem occurs, suddenly the horn stops working while doing my regular highway stints & when I call the dealer, they say that they don’t have the spare part available & will take 2 weeks to get it fixed.
i not only risked my life but also risked the life's of the occupants of the car by maintaining the speed limit on indian highways to avoid any mishaps & you people talk about safety in your promotions programs and advertisements.
surprise # 7 & ndash; the car paint has started fading & I must say that my hyundai car looks much more new then this bmw car. When asked for this to the advisor at navnit, he replies me in a very funny manner that the car paint thickness in bmw is less as compared to other cars, is it true?
i must say that I have completely lost the trust in this brand now as for each and every thing I have to wait for 2 weeks, even like a small thing like horn, makes my anger grow on a much faster pace in choosing this brand.
so let me just remind you that within 6 months of me purchasing a brand new bmw 320d from navnit motor's - mumbai and my car has already been to the workshop 3 times due to some or the other technical faults from manufacturers end.
do you think this is justice to my hard earned money, my feelings attached to this car and all the mental & physical harassment of taking the car & getting issues fixed at the service station?
i think it’s a stupidity on my end in trusting a brand like bmw by not checking the manufacturing date before taking the car delivery, which makes me feel cheated now!
Isn’t it an insult to my brand new bmw to be driven without the lhs tail light / rhs / horn / color fade issues which still stands unanswered?
i have been cheated by the most trustworthy, globaly reputed & relaible bmw company for provisioning such a defectful product to their end users.
The only positive thing that has come out from this entire horrific experience is that the sales staff at navnit bmw has been very courteous and have always addressed my problem before during and after sales.
Please advice me how you address this concern.

many problems with the car
I bought the 316 coupe from bmw in egypt, before i reach 50, 000 kms
I found an engine fault error, they changed vanose & solonoids, then
The error disappeared but the car contined to suffer
From power loss & instability in the engine, they changed what we call in arabic"mobina" all 4 parts, & still problem existed,
Then i changed the fuel injectors, the car improved,
But i still suffer from rpm fluctuations at low speeds as if the engine
Will stop, i wonder how come the car ahowed all these faults & changed all these parts so soon & i wonder how come bmw produces such poor quality car..the car is 2008 model & i'm tired from all the continious visits to the service center, i want my car fixed & i want to enjoy the famous bmw quality which till now i couldnt experience, thanks

I feel left out in the cold from the BMW dealer in Erie, Pa. They traded my 2008 X6 for a 2011 X6 and when they made the trade and the deal was done, they called and asked were are the original tires and rims they where told they got stolen 9 months prior. I told them they new this as i purchased the snow tires and rims from them they new this at the time of the appraisel since they walked aroung the car and took it for a test drive and gave me the trade value amount and i agreed to it. Well then they sent a letter telling me my car will NOT be serviced with the same respect unless I paid them 3, 500.00 dollars more after the deal was complete and since then my car has been there for 6 weeks and no date given as to when i may have the vechicle back not even a call in the six weeks of having the car. There is only one dealer in the area. What should I do?

battery replacement
Dear sirs
I bought a bmw 530 2009 chassis no (.. ) with a 5 years service contract from abu dhabi motors company, on sunday june 13 2011, the engine refused to start with a battery alert icon on the dashboard, I send the car the next day to the dealer and I was very disappointed by the treatment I received by the bmw representative, they are rude and very arrogant, they told me it will take more than a week to replace the battery and they will start working on it next sunday or monday!, because the have a lot of cars waiting to be repaired..In the same day the guys called me and said you forgot the hazards lights on for 12 hours and that will void the warranty ! I told him this is not true but he insisted on me paying 2400 aed (Aed 2, 365.47) for a battery replacement.. I wonder how a big company like bmw would allow things like this to happen, now i'm considering taking the car without any fix and replace the battery outside. And to be honest i'm also considering to sell my car.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
Autozone in the USA, has replacement batteries for your BMW with 36 month replacement warranty for $120.00 US and you can easily replace the battery yourself.
I bought my battery from Autozone as BMW service anywhere is a rip-off. BMW batteries are over priced and only last two to three years anyway.
Good luck.

Dear team,
My name is ahmed al adham and I just bought a used bmw e90 car model 2007 and I am the 2nd owner of this car, but since the first owner of the car and there is a usual problem with the car doors lock, and when I contacted the service center in egypt they confirmed that this is a dead lock error on the vechial computer and need to replace the local machines in the 4 doors, and from the history log I can see it is a common issue with this car so they offer from the begining 3 years warranty on the car as a compensation but still the lock issue outstanding, moreover the 3 years waranty ended last year and I am still stuck with a dead lock problem with the doors, kindly advise as this is my first bmw car I own and my first experiance with the car which really makes me unhappy with the car.
Thanks

Dear Team,
Thanks for the fast response as I have received some mails from BMW both Germany and Egypt, but after I have the hope that things will get fine soon and BMW will get to the bottom of the strange common door-lock failure in E90 cars and specifically my vechial, I have got the below response from Mrs. Rania, the Supervisor of the Bavarian Auto customer care in Egypt that the maximum they can do for me is giving me 10% off on the replacement of the 3 doors' lock which really strange as it is something related to the manufacture so how should I pay for something I have not screwed, taking in consideration that Bavarian Auto in EG extended the warranty on the E90 cars mainly for this issue which ended on Dec. 2010, and I am not sure that they have solved the root cause of the door-locks but they only let the customers pay for something out of their hands, I have a freind who is working in Valeo Automotive in the R&D department and he use to say that BMW are one of the best and always keep their customers happy, so looking for your support to overcome this night mare I am living now a days and to be happy as meant to be.
note: I have given the car to Bavarian Auto in EG and I am now using rental car on my own which is another cost on my shoulder unplanned.
So kindly do the needful to sort this out so I can enjoy my car which I have not since I bought it month ago..
Thanks
Ahmed El Adham
I agree with Ahmed El Adham;
My E91 330d has suffered a failure of the locks. This is a common problem and my dealer took the car back under warranty and fitted a larger fuse (20A). This is in accordance with their procedures as the original 15A fuse has been shown to be too small to cope with what BMW call "Amperage spikes".
My car has now blown the 20A fuse and also another one that I replaced it with.
This is a serious failing as, when the fuse blows it is impossible to open any door other than the Driver's (if they are locked).
I believe that BMW should recall all the cars known to be susceptible to this fault (up to late 2008) and replace the door locks with the later units, which are evidently more reliable.
This is a serious Safety issue that should not be allowed to remain unaddressed.

Dear / bmw
Greetings
I bought anew bmw 7 serial model 2007 from riyadh, within the first three years I have noticed unformal sound in engine, I urgently toke the car to the egency where they found that the oil becam greasy, that happened because in the indication in car shows the the oil have be changed after 35000 km, the cylinders have been effected, and my car kept in egency for 47 days waitting for spare part, within this time they refused to gave me a replacement car for this period, I was following with them in dialy basis, which forced me to pay around 8000 sr for renting acar during this period, where this is agency mistake, which caused my car engine to be opened that effected the price of the car in saudi arabia, in the same time I have paid around 12000 sr for extension warranty which will cover 5 years maintenance or 100000km and this is still valid.
The second bad experience with bmw is happed when I have seen an alarm (airbag function error) I immediately got appointement for fixing this faults which was happened many time before, just three days after this alarm happened the two air bag infront blowout without any accident, I parked the car in egency garage before 40 days for the bmw in german to investigate, they have sent two reports the last report said there was a crash under the car and the extension warranty will not coverd, which wasnot the reason as this may happened when the car lifted in tow truck, within the 40 days I have paid 7800sr renting a car, I seek your support as I had bad experience with my bmw and that was not my expected, I think bmw should covered this faults as I have extension warranty and the airbags blow out without any accident, my car licence is (أ ن هـ 7878) , chas no ds9023.

very bad service
This is to state that i j a dos ramos, am very dissatified with what took place yesturday, i fell that this branch has no right in which to treat its customers the way that it treated me yesturday. On the 3 rd of may i ook my bmw 650 n for a service, and collected it yesturday, i left the branch at about jusy on 12 h00, have a look at the log book. I then drove out the branch and wen in the direction of fourways, only to relise that something was not right, with this car, it seamed to be get pulled back like i was applying brakes, i had my brother inlaw in front of me as we had to be at an appointment at fourways mall at 12h30, inwhich i told him to drive it further as it felt very wierd. When he did this, he new straight away that it must be the brakes or hand brake that must of been set to tightly, and in which he then left back to randfontein as i had phioned the branch and had asked them to please come out to me as there was a problem and i also had to collect my son in krugersdorp at 13h45, and that he been very young and alone would not be good, and that was a very clear message from me, you dont let your child waight for you as you know that in todays life things are not great at all. Any how they said they leaving straightaway. And i waited. Every time i called they were going to leave and they had left but no one came, i also placed an order with a lady in the front at sales mrs vanisha pillay, for a 120d full house and we hve been busy with this deal for the last two days, whom after waiting for one and a half hours, only 5 kms away from them, then called her and told her what had happened, she could not believe this nd tried to assit, i then took it on my own to drive to the nearest bmw wich was about 1 km away romwhere i was stoped, as i was in diastraights, and where they then had a look at the car and saw that the brakes were indeed se to much this was at cedar isle auto. When i asked the workshop manager at club motors to please help me, i got a very bad answer that how could that be, and that i should wait as he is now going to drive another client around first, you know what, i dont think that that is proffessional at all, and when i left cedar isle auto, the car was finr, a little bit futher on my way to randfontein it did the same so i think that some thing is propperbly not right there i actually think that the brake disk must be shot as when i looked at them when this happened it wast red hot it was white hot they must fix this, please dont hesitate to call me, mrs vanisha pillay is i fell an assit to bmw, i have had many bmw cars bought through you you can have a look, ive bought, 323 a m 3 a x 5 and 650

I'm a BMW E90 owner. On Monday(21st May 2012) my car was breakdown at highway due to my tyre puncture and i drove the car to the nearby tyre workshop try to change it but the could't make it cause the adapter for the special nut they use it was broken. Then i have no choice i that the risk to drive my car to BMW Glenmarie Malaysia. When i reached there and they use their adapter try to open but broke again and i need to bare the cost. So i have no choice i need to buy another new adapter. Since they couldn't help on this i try my luck and drive to the tyre workshop but on half i need towing to tow my car to the workshop. But when i reach the workshop i only realise that the adapter nut they pass it to is same series no 31 but diff model. This really make me frust with BMW. Is it almost evening 7.00pm i hv no choice and just left my car in the workshop and on Tuesday(22nd May 2012) i went back to BMW Glenmarie Malaysia to change the adapter and i reached the workshop they try to open using the adapter, it broke again. Then i call up BMW for their rescue team to help out and when they reached the workshop they use their adapter try to open the nut the result also the same. It broke again and he claim that the workshop is using air gun to install the nut. I think this answer really not reasonable. The next thing is he just left without my knowledge. At the end i have no idea, so i ask the tyre workshop to drill out the special nut and they did it. I think the outsider workshop is more professional than BMW which is so call specialist. I think that is not the way BMW treat their customer like this. If this is the way, i think the are chasing out their customer to others brand.

Dear editor/s/motor ombudsman
I have been a bmw driver for the last 20 years, having driven and owned about 45 bmws. i have been fortunate enough to have owned most of the models from the 3, 5, 7, z and x5 models.
Of all the models, I have been in particular really impressed with the 5 series models, having owned 6 of them, these cars were mind blowing and were workhorses of note, some with mileages as high as 350 000km still running strong on the original engine.
Of the six 5 series models I owned, I only spend around r2500, 00 changing wheel bearings on the one, of course not to mention the usual services and wear and tear.
In 2006 I purchased a bmw 530d. the car was priced at r380000.00 and had 60000
Or so km on the clock and was an approved bmw car from auto umhlanga.
Soon after delivery, the car picked up rattles and squeaks which became very unbearable. I contacted the
Dealership but was obviously given the run around as they had already been paid and really didnt give a damn
About me.
So after some two months bmw customer care had the official complaint of the problem.
A senior technician from the head office was sent down to durban to look at the car.. the report was clean but they could not seem
To figure out the rattles and so the story went on and the car, a premium 5 series bmw, just parked in the garage and was hardly used as I was to embarrassed to even take family or friends in it.
Then it seemed to be more in the bmw workshop having problems ranging from active steering wheels, to clutch at 80000km and propshaft problems.
The car also had a mechanical breakdown in swaziland where some pulleys had collapsed and had to be
Replaced. this left me stranded in swaziland with my nine year old son.
Around march 2009, I was driving to durban and the car had a total electronic failure and shut down on the freeway just outside durban.
The electronic failure put the car in a lock mode causing suspension collapse, steering wheel deactivation, odometer shut down and
More. fortunately I am an experienced driver and the car is a manual so I kept very calm, pressed the clutch in and tried to restart using the kick start method which worked and I quicky brought the car back to controll although everything had shut down. I managed to drive the car back home with no instruments working, suspension collapse and no lights.
It was a hell ride, but I had no option as my life was endangered if I just sat on the freeway waiting for help.
This incident was reported to bmw customer care. at this stage the car had around 94000km just out of motor plan with time.
I was asked take the car to bmw in pietermaritzburg, and was to be re-embursed for all towing costs which I never received.
So the car was diagnosed at smg bmw, and found water had been entering the car and was pooling in the tyre well
in the boot, which housed electronic modules.
These models were eroded as they had been floating in water for some time and there was no problem with the
Rubber seals on the boot lid.
so where did and how did the water get
Into a premium 5 series bmw worth half a million rands. so bmw paid for the parts replaced at their costs.
This raises questions: why did bmw pay for the replacement of these parts.
So I went on investigating this problem, as of concern to the public road users and other bmw drivers, and have discovered from bmw technicians that this car does have a history of this problem and bmw is aware of such problem but it has never been released to the public and these cars never called back. apparently these electronic modules have never been properly insulated at time of manufacture and the buck simply passed on to the motor plan. I could have killed myself, my family and innocent road users as this car switched of and locked on a freeway.
around september 2010 this car had an engine failure. at just over 100000km, and rated the best diesel engine in the world
apparently a swirlflap on the cylinder head broke and entered the engine causing damage, some r160 000.00 damage.
yet again bmw wants to pay half the cost of repairs which seems so so strange. this car was parked at smg dealership in pietermaritzburg while futile ongoing negotiations with bmw took place.
In the interim, I have beeen paying the monthly installement and insurance of approx. r7500 p/m and car hire costs.
Finally in march 2011, bmw agreed to pay 80%of engine cost, and I had to refinance the shortfall of r30 000.. once again incurring more expenses... not forgetting the ongoing car hire costs.
Last week, the very same bmw530d, swtiched off on the highway again, with no controls working. even the hazzard lights were not functioning.
The car was towed at my costs to cedar isle auto, upon inspection, the car has water on the inside. water seems to be leaking into the car from the engine compartment, and settling near the driver side pedals.
We are once again suffering damages, we have not been compensated in any way for costs incurred as a result of this defective car.
I want to be compensated and this motor vehichle must be replaced by bmw.
Bmw contact: lawrence titus.
Having done only 35000km or so in 4 years for a car that I paid some r600000 for with
Finance charges, leaves me with a spend of r17000, per k/m... wow that should go on the world book of record.
...
Bought a car with 60000km on the clock and complains about manufaturing defects? - complaint seems one sided and subjective.

bmw cpo warranty
I bought a used bmw x3 from a dealership and it had the manufacturer 100, 000 mile cpo. I took the car into classic bmw after detecting a leak in the car. The leak was determined to be coming from the transmission cooler line. This line is an integral component of the transmission and it should be covered under the cpo but the dealer advised that it was not covered as it is "hose". The "line" is solid metal pipe about two foot long and is in no way a wear and tear item, an upkeep item or a "hose" as the definition of hose per webster includes the fact that it bends. I contacted bmw of north america and they claimed this is an issue for the dealer.. The dealer told me to complain to bmw north america as they determined it was a "hose". I called bmw north america again and they said dealer made the call. There is no means to get this worked out as each bmw entity point fingers and meanwhile i'm out $1000 for parts labor and rental car. Don't buy bmw products thinking major components are covered under warranty as they find loopholes to not cover repairs under cpo warranty program.
