food goji berries
I purchased Goji berries from the Windermere Booths store on Friday 28th June and the best before date on the product is 21.06.2019 which I noticed today. I struggle to understand why you would put products that are out of date back on the shelves.
I'm aware that Booths store prides it's self on selling quality products and has an excellent reputation hence me bringing this to your attention.
I would appreciate a response as to why this has not been picked up in store. My details Diljit McCabe email address is [protected]@aol.com.
I look forward to hearing from you shortly.

three for two drinks offers
I live in Keswick, am a cardholder, and have shopped in the store at least twice a week since it opened. I regularly buy Otima 10 year old port and especially when it is on special offer. There is always plenty in stock.
There was a 3 for 2 offer running for a couple of weeks up until Tuesday 4th June and I went in at least five times to buy 3 bottles. There were never three in stock, but always one or two. On enquiring I was told that 'we only carry low stocks of the port as it is not a popular drink'. I went in today and of course the offer has now finished. There were 6 bottles on the shelf at the full price!
I find it increasingly difficult to believe in the integrity of this store. Resolution would be to sell me 15 bottles of the port now for the price of 10

carrier bags
Morning
I was shopping in one of your stores on sunday afternoon 3rdf eb in preston lancashire and was quite happy until I got to the till and was told by the assistant that she didnt have any carrier bags. I was then sent to hunt one down my self from self serve but was unsuccessful. I checked with other assistant but u was told again"sorry I don't have any". I managed to find one with a snapped handle and left with my shopping in my arms. I felt very embarrassed leaving the shop and struggling to open my card door. You may find it petty but for a store like booths I found it quite disgusting to have no carrier bags.
Yours sincerely
Jan
southern fried chicken sandwich and vegetable crisps
I came into the Keswick store today; Friday the 18/1/19, and bought a southern fried chicken sandwich and some vegetable crisps from yourselves and over the last hour or so I have been getting sickness, stomach cramps and other symptoms. Which I think are because of the food I ate from your store. The sandwiches were located in the food on the go fridges.
sourdough bread
Having bought one of your loaves today Sunday 6th January 2019, I was absolutely amazed when cutting in it to find there was no actual bread in it, just a large hole & so naturally my husband was fuming as it was for his Breakfast and lunch tomorrow. He has to set off to York at 5am there will be no time to exchange the product and as the shop is closed with no possibility of getting anything else or exchanging the loaf. £2.00 on fresh air, extremely disappointed, will return for exchange tomorrow but a real waste of my time and a very hungry husband.

butchers
My wife popped into Booths in Garstang today (24/08/18) to get some Rump steak for my tea. On approaching the Butchers dep, she saw a very large piece of Rump she liked the look of. The Butcher came over to her and asked her what she wanted.
She said " Could i have a piece of the large steak on display)...the Butcher replied "I can cut you half of it" my wife said " Half is a bit small, could you cut me a bit bigger piece than half"...he replied " No, you cant have more than half as i need a piece i can sell"
It wasnt a problem because she went to Morrisons who give the customer exactley how much they want. Not only Did the Booths Butcher loose a sale for the firm, i tried to stop he firstly from spending more money. What in idiot, especially as they sell home made rump burgers, where any cut of rump could be used.
service
I called at my local Booths Supermarket in Lytham this evening for some milk which costs £1.10. I used the self service till to check out as I was in a hurry. After I had paid by credit card using contactless, there was problem with the till and it would not produce the receipt for my purchase. I was not bothered with the receipt as I just wanted to take the milk and leave. However the staff "helping" insisted that she will have to make sure the milk was paid for by rebooting the computer. I had to stand at the till waited for at least 15 minutes for the computer to work again. This staff then printed out a couple of receipts which were not for my purchase. She then came to the conclusion that the milk had not been paid for and I needed to pay AGAIN! I had enough by then. I was embarrassed and felt that I was being accused of trying to get away with not paying £1.10! No way I would pay for something twice so I had no choice but to Ieave without the milk that I had already paid for. I then went to Sainsburys to buy milk instead.
I checked my credit card statement when I got home, sure enough the £1.10 had gone through.
Basically Booths Supermarket took my money but refused to give me the goods purchased unless I pay twice.
As a loyal, regular customer, I would expect a degree of trust and good will from Booths and not treating me like a suspected shoplifter over a bottle of milk!
I had enjoyed shopping as well as using the restaurant in Booths until this nasty experience.
I look forward to your response.

customer service in ulverston
I spoke to a gentleman on the customer service/till where tobacco and newspapers are sold at the front of the Ulverston store. The gentleman (who appeared to have some learning difficulties) was reading the newspaper when I approached him. I reported the ladies toilets were in a mess and needed attention. He said This had already been reported. I answered that clearly nothing had been done about it and he rudely replied that we can't just sort it out straight away you know, we have to get someone off the tills to go and do it! I have never been to such a badly run, untidy Booths store with such rude staff. I have always thought of Booths as an upmarket supermarket but this store really lets your company down. I look forward to hearing how you are going to respond to this problem.
Kind regards

butternut squash bake
Please see attached the photos of a product that I bought which is within date and is going mouldy and is inedible. I only noticed when I was preparing tea and am now having to go out and get something else. I am most disappointed as I was really looking forward to having it. Please refund me the cost. Thanks.

food in the restaurant
I purchased a jacket potato with salmon and creme fresh from your Kendal restaurant. Although it was tasty, I must complain about the number of fish bones in it 10in all. This was not only unpleasant but downright dangerous as I could have chocked. I would think that as the salmon was mixed with the sauce time would have been taken to at least take out the larger bones and not leave them for the customer to find. I do use booth's and will continue to do so but this needs to be brought to your attention as an accident could occur
booths tomato and mozzarella pasta pot
Hi,
My name is Natalie Dixon,
I regularly purchase your booths Tomato and Mozzarella Pasta pot from my local booths store which is Scothforth road, Lancaster . Recently when I opened the pots and began to eat it I can honestly say that it contains 2 Mozzarella pearls or less.. I understand that it states on the product information that it only contains 4% Mozzarella pearls, but surely 2 bits or less is not equivalent to 4% I have found this problem over the last past few weeks I would say a few months back you got quite a few Mozzarella pearls but recently it has been near to none.
food products smelling of washing powder
Dear sir/ madam
I regularly visit the st annes stores on heyhouses road.
Several months ago I bought some cheese from the pre wrapped fridge, (cheese that is cling filmed by staff) when we came to eat the cheese it had a definite smell of washing powder. My husband tasted some of the cheese and said that he could smell the washing powder as he was eating it. I took the cheese back and was given a refund, but this wasn't the first time I had noticed that the cheese was contaminated in this way. My feeling is that the cling film is stored next to the washing powder somewhere in the store, which takes on the smell of the washing powder and then transfers to cheese, contaminating it. Last week I bought filled pasta from the fridge and the outer packaging smelt strongly of washing powder. How does a chilled product come to be anywhere near washing powder. Today I have bought potatoes and a Savoy cabbage and found that they too smelled strongly of washing powder. Either in store or during the distribution chain washing powder is being stored next to food items or items that are coming into contact with food. As a food technologist myself I would strongly point out that this is not good practice as contamination via chemicals is taking place on a regular basis. I would very much appreciate if this matter could be investigated as it is not a problem that I have come across shopping in any other supermarket, except the Booths store I shop in, in st annes. As I have already mentioned this to staff in the store when I returned the cheese, it is a problems that has not been rectified.
Look forward to hearing from you. Jill wilson
hot food
Hi
I would like to just say I'm a booths fan and I have been for a number of years and I use the stores a lot whilst in and out of work and so do a lot of my friends, family and work colleagues, the stores I use are Longton, Penwortham and Fulwood, I particularly like the hot food counter where i regularly purchase hot chicken wings, Now at the Penwortham and Fulwood store the wings are delicious but at the longton store they are just awful and they have been for a number of months now! I honestly don't know how they can be sold! It's like eating pure charcoal and the quality never gets better! Because of this I will not buy them anymore as I just can't eat them! And neither will my work colleagues friends or family As every time it is a compete waste of money, I feel that this will give booths a bad reputation because if the public taste them they will think all booths chicken is like this and that is the standard when it's not.
Many thanks for reading my email

booths advertisements
Thursday near the ending of September 2017, I was walking in through the main entrance of the Hale Barns Booths when I saw an awful thing. It was a red and gold sign, which said 'Tis the Season'. Now, I was rather upset when I saw this, and bearing in mind it wasn't even October yet, you can imagine how horrified I was. This, I must say, Is what I feel ruins the whole spirit of Christmas. Advertising Christmas when summer is barely even over is simply ridiculous. This is the reason I am never excited for Christmas. So, if they take away the sign until the 1st November, I will be grateful. Thank You. [removed]

free drink
I was in my local Booths store in Chorley today as I am most days. Yet again they were out of hot chocolate sachets and yet again the coffee machine was out of order. It must have been weeks and weeks now since chocolate sachets were available and the coffee machine spends more time out of order than working-in fact it is a joke. Either you have purchased a machine that is not suitable for the amount of people using it daily or the engineers who repair it ( I use this term loosely) are doing very poor work!
I would like my disappointment passing on to Mr Booth himself as I am sure that if he knew how the free drink benefit has become almost unusable he would be as upset as I am.
Please note the above complaints are not recent issues but longstanding ones.
carrier bag
I purchased a carrier bag from the Garstang store in Lancaster, and felt very embarrassed when I boarded a bus for work at lunch time, of which the carrier bag had not been sealed correctly at the bottom. Which lead to the whole contents of the bag coming out Whilst I was purchasing my bus ticket. I had a chicken breast, 2 tomatoes, and a container of Pilo rice in the bag.
The chicken breast and the tomatoes rolled off the bus and onto the floor, the lid of the rice container came off which resulted in the rice spilling all over the bus, i had to use a large envelope containing important documents to clear the rice up off the floor of the bus.
A member of the public offered me a pep and co carrier bag, I apologised to the bus driver, who could not move the bus until the bus was cleared due to health and safety reasons. I felt publicly embarrassed and humiliated due to the incident which had just occurred.
I also had to purchase more food for my lunch. I am still in possession, of the original carrier bag and on examining it, it looks like when it was manufactured the carrier bag was not sealed properly. I am a regular customer in your store, I have never had a problem like this before. I do not know if they're a bag for life but certainly wasn't today. On reflection I was well and truly embarrassed but on the funny side, I thought my chicken breast going for a walk off the bus was pretty comical.
Hope you can give this your immediate attention, as it inconvenienced me, buying more food as it took time to purchase food which as a result didn't have time to have a coffee before I started my job.
The reason I shop in your Garstang branch is because I have property in the local area.
Hope to here from you within seven working days

staff/service.
At approx: 1:15pm on Friday 18-08-2017 i was as often was the case shopping at the cooked meat counter as i had always been satisfied with the basic quality of the goods and service. On this occasion however after i had been queing for a very considerable period of time without service i eventually became indisputably next in line for service and began to recite my order to one of three members of staff behind the counter. In the meantime another female customer had appeared from nowhere, stood at the front of the line and interfering with my ordering and was served by your staff in preference to me even though i was clearly first.Obviously i protested at this and asked to see the manager and only after some time and arguing was the only male person behind the counter brought to listen to me.As it quickly became clear that this person was not the main shop manager i persisted with requirement to see that person and only after some considerable time/arguing was the manager eventually brought down to see me and offered absolutely nothing in the way of apology or assurance of future improvement. All the staff involved demonstrated a strictly "no can do" and arrogant attitude to me a long standing customer of Booths. My custom with Booths has now ended on a permanent basis and, moreover, i will be actively soliciting my relatives, friends and acquaintances to do the same to the extent that if they do not they will lose my friendship.

Not happy
chicken standard
Chicken purchased Booth Ripon on 18 June 2017. Cooked 19 June and when carved extensive green discolouration of meat seen. Presumably green muscle disease as found in cheap broiler chickens. All the meat plus packaging was returned to Booths on 20th and a replacement and refund recieved. I spoke to manager Jonny Sime and explained that I was less concerned about a replacement than to understand how Booths could sell such meat under with an expensive free range label. I asked to be informed about the investigation of this matter. He assured me this would happen but I have had heard nothing from Booths. I think this is a very important matter.
I only shop at Booths beacuse they sell high quality local produce. I presume expensive free range meat should have the highest welfare standards. I cannot purchase anything further from Booths until I am reassured how this has happened.
