I purchased a triple 6-pack of paper towels from a target in MA last week. The next day, we noticed a terrible chemical odor in our basement. It almost smelled of strong plastic chemicals. We had to call our handyman and several others over to our house to investigate the smell (almost the fire department) to ensure there wasn’t a dangerous gas leakage of some sort. It was unlike any odor we’ve smelled… it was extremely disruptive - we checked every electronic device and appliances plugged in, our oil tanks and furnace, etc. and could not figure out the smell. We aired our basement only for the smell to come back the next day.
Finally, we figured it out the odor was coming from the Bounty paper towels. Once we opened the package, it was unbearable. I’m not even being dramatic. We even had to wash our hands after touching. I’m shocked because I’ve been purchasing bounty paper towels for nearly 10 years from the same Target. Has Bounty changed something? Is this an issue of quality control? Is the chemical scent dangerous? I’m concerned others are experiencing the same issue!
I have no plans to use the paper towels as I assume they are harmful and/or will continue to make my entire house smell like chemicals.

Desired outcome: Desired outcome is an explanation of the chemical smell. In addition, I’m very concerned of other beings exposed as well. P&G may need to address with their factory and potentially recall this batch of product.
