I took my car into Mr. Lube today (Feb 11, 2023) on Baseline Road, Sherwood Park, Alberta. I asked to have an oil change and coolant flush done on my car.
When the service attendant pulled out the oil filter he told me that a "oil bypass"f valve was missing. I asked him where it could have gone and he told me often times they get stuck in the oil filter that is being changed out. I asked if it was in the old filter and he said no it wasn't, he didn't show me the old filter. He said it was an easy fix and he ordered one from Part Source, I assumed this was covered as it must have come out with old filter. He talked to the manager, Steve, that was in for the day, and they went ahead an ordered the part. As I did not give my consent for anyone to order this part, I assumed Mr. Lube was covering it. When I enquired about my bill, the attendant summoned the Manager. I voiced my concern about the bill and the part, and stated that I only come to this Lube centre for my services (17 yr customer). I told him I wasn't asked if I wanted to order this part, they just went ahead and ordered it. I said I have shouldn't have to pay for a part that I didn't lose nor did I agree to have it ordered. He bent over to my Drivers side window, looked at me in a somewhat threatening way and rudely said he wasn't paying for it and then walked away. I was later told this man was the Regional Manager. I found his behaviour absolutely unacceptable, and after 17 yrs, I will never come back to another Mr. Lube because of this treatment.
Desired outcome: I would like full reimbursement for the part I did not give consent to have ordered or installed. As well this manager needs to have some customer service coaching the very least, and learn not to make decisions on behalf of the customers.

Hello Mr Keller
I came across your complaint on the complaints board website here and I noticed it’s a very recent post. As soon as I got to the bottom and saw you mentioned, this guy was the regional manager I know exactly who you’re talking about. I’m currently looking at suing him and the organization because they put in water down oil in my rear differential of my F350 it cost me $3700 replace at the gear centre here in Edmonton, when I brought the oil sample back to Mr. lubed, the manager called this regional manager and the regional manager’s response was bring us the parts. Of course I’m not logging around rusty F350 rear differential parts as a matter of fact, I don’t take my mechanical issues to my oil change place. This guy has never returned my calls. He owes me near $4000 and I’m going after him , I appreciate this post as I’m gonna add it to my email when I fire off a letter to their corporate division starting at the top I’m gonna send off an email to this character as well as the top 10 executives in this company. I’m gonna make sure that this guy is dealt with I’m very glad to come across this post and I’m sorry about what happened to you but if I get my way this email was gonna go across the very owner Jim himselfs desk
