I have been a Capital One Auto Finance customer since 2003. I recently purchased a second vehicle in 2008. I experienced some financial distress and signed up for their Car Pay Catch Up Plan. I was told that if I signed up for the plan my account would be caught up and no negative information would be reported to the credit bureau. This was a lie. They reported a 30-day late to my credit report and when I called they would not do anything about it. I have tried to speak with someone in customer service but it has not helped. I am thinking about hiring a lawyer filing a class action lawsuit. They have the worst business practices of any company I have ever transacted business with.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
I agree. They are currently calling me on my job. I am about 16 days late and about to make a payment this week. I told them I will but they still want to do a check by phone. I am not comfortable about doing stuff like that with people getting your information and using it. I have had problems making payments once and it is like they harrass you. They have called me a total of 5 times at work today (a few minutes ago they just called and I picked it up and hung the phone in their ear). I wonder if there is a way that this can stop. I work for the government in a hospital and I am always getting important phone calls for patient care. I don't and can't need this. Is there something to make it stop. I am almost paid up on my car and they act like I just got the car and not making payments. Please help.
I also was a victim until they took my car...
OK, being that i am actually a capital one finance associate and am current as of 6/27/2010... here are a few things you, as the customer, need to know... 1. if you are past due, get that paid down asap! we will call you until the cows come home. 2. while on any payment plan aka Car Pay Catch Up or that in conjunction with an extension, you may still continue to receive late fees (if your state is eligible for them) until the past due balance is paid. once this is done and u maintain your monthly payments ON TIME, aka u pay on your due date, at that time u can guarantee to yourself that u will not incur any late fees or be reported as over 30 days past due. Honestly, depending on how far behind your loan is, what i would do is call in, the number is [protected], and find out what is available to assist you. Depending on when your last extension was that may not be an option. Last and finally if you decide to go with a CPCU again, please ask the associate if that will "cure" your account and when your next due date will be after your final payment. If you are not satisfied or feel that the associate is not giving you proper information please ask for a manager. I hope this helps, and trust me i work in collections and hear about this all the time and make it a priority for it to not happen to those that I help.
Twinkie,
Simple answer... let them know that u risk being fired for receiving calls at work :)
Annodam420..
I wouldn't be so quick to release internal information from Capital One over such forums.. Just know the internet is a wonderful thing and people like yourself are always being watched ;).. Go work your dead end job and stop blabing online acting as if you have something up on these individuals.. You're just as financially weak working for the company's these people run from..

You are a joke. I too work loss mitigation (collections) and I'll be honest, ya for the most part it's a dead end job. But guess what? It pays the bills, unlike many of the people on these forums. In response to Shondak, unfortunately when the account is delinquent over 30 days past due, it often gets reported as such! It seems you were misinformed. And to Twinkie, tell them it's a work number and you can not be receiving phone calls! If they are putting your job in jeopardy and continue to put your job in Jeopardy, then by all means take legal action!
