Refund request due to Covid 19.
Website booking made Jan 31st and full booking fee of $622.90 was taken directly from my credit card. The booking was for Car hire from 1st June 2020 to 27th June 2020
March 21st I cancelled booking on line due to announced travel ban and
was locked out of website with no confirmation of cancellation on following site cancellation instructions.
Emailed the UK office March 21st and they eventually responded March 23rd and only acknowledging the cancellation - no other information. 24th March I emailed again asking for a refund. They responded March 24th saying no refund was possible, I should have taken out protection insurance. However would keep the booking on hold (what does that mean?)
Subsequently I have sent multiple emails explaining my personal circumstances - now unemployed, financial pressure over 60 and reason for travel at the time now has passed and don't expect to be in a position to go to UK within the next year or two at the earliest. Have asked Car Hire UK for clarification of what 'on hold' means, could I have a cancellation reference number, could I have a credit voucher at least until Dec 2021, can I have a refund and so on - all questions and multiple emails ignored! I have also tried through their website contact to get a response - nothing! I genuinely need a full refund. I gave reasonable cancellation notice (not my fault either, Covid 19) over 2 months. No service has been provided yet they believe they are entitled to 100% of my money, could more likely re-hire the vehicle locally. This is a scam given the circumstances.
Directors Michael Stephen GOODWIN, Maurice William GOODWIN, should be ashamed of themselves going by the dozens of reviews over a very long time that unfortunately I have now seen to late of this repeated and disgusting behaviour.
