On 10/07/23 I booked a passage to St.Vincent on Caribbean Airlines via Port of Spain and Bridgetown. The flight was scheduled to leave JFK on 10/14/23 and arrive in St.Vincent the same evening and was confirmed the same day (10/07/23) with a confirmation number 2XMZ9I. On the night of10/13/23 when I was preparing to go to the airport for my 7.30am flight to Port of Spain I was notified that my flight was delayed 4 hours and would be leaving at 11.30am instead. Later that night I was also informed that my flight to St.Vincent via Barbados was also changed and I would be leaving Port of Spain on 10/15/23 via Tobago and Barbados and I would not be in St.Vincent until 7.15pm on 10/15/23. Caribbean Airlines arranged for me to stay in a hotel at Piarco and although I was treated very well I spent most of the evening pointing out to two airline clerks, that it was very important that I get to St.Vincent very early on 10/15/23 because my reason for making the trip was to celebrate my friend's 100 years birthday. I was not able to leave Port of Spain until the afternoon of 10/15/23 and got to St. Vincent late that evening and missed my friend's 100 birthday celebration. To make matters worse my friend has since passed away. There was also a problem with my luggage which I pointed out on a survey that I sent to Caribbean Airlines a few weeks ago. On my flight to St.Vincent they tried to charge me for a piece of luggage in Trinidad, but I pointed out to the supervisor that I was intransit and had already paid for that piece at Kennedy and she agreed I did not have to pay again. On my return leg however I was made th pay for the same piece in St.Vincent then later at Piarco. I pointed out to the supervisor that I only paid once on the downward leg but she ruled that I had to pay again.
Desired outcome: I would like to be compensated for part of the $1300 US I paid to Caribbean Airlines for the trip and to be refunded the luggage fee I paid at Piarco.
