I was hired by CarMax 2/23/24 given a start date of 3/11/24. I completed all paper work and submitted drug test. the day before my start date I was told my start date had to be put on hold Because my background check was not completed yet. It took six weeks for it to be completed and my offer rescinded. I fully committed myself to CarMax, I gave my 2 week notification to former employer who promoted someone into my position and I also turned down other job offers. There was no personal communication from anyone in the HR department. I had to frequently ask location manager for updates on my status, he had to send numerous emails to try to get any information from corporate as to my status. The location manager was very nice and sympathetic as to what transpired. I was very excited to be able to work for him and the company. No explanation was given as to how my criminal record would affect employment. status. I feel I was discriminated against.
Desired outcome: To be reconsidered for employment and contacted by someone from corporateoffice as to why I was denied. I feel I should have had an opportunity to talk tosomeone about my case.
