Bad experience
I recently had to have my car recovered by the RAC, after the ignition collapsed, and they towed it to a repairer. He then contacted the local Peugeot dealer (which happened to be the same dealer that sold the car in the first place - Robins & Day in Coventry).
The Parts department told the garage that they needed the Key Code to replace the ignition. I went to a lot of trouble to have this card sent to me (obviously I didn't breakdown at home!). This was a plastic card with a picture of a Key & the word 'Code' written next to it. When the garage called, this is the wrong number! They now need a key number which would be either on a metal tag or written in the Service Book.
Of course, no number in the Service Book. I bought the car a year old from an authorised Peugeot Dealer, and I have EVERYTHING I was given when I bought the car. No metal tag, but I have the original receipt. This receipt has Chassis Number, Engine Number - and a space for the Key Number, but of course this has been left blank!
I contacted Peugeot Customer Service, they didn't want to know just told me to contact the Dealer I bought the car from Arbury, Nuneaton. They also told me that they can get the code from an external Company for a 23 GBP charge! Hold on, why should I pay when I was never given the number in the first place - and Peugeot Staff failed to do their job correctly?
I contacted the Dealer who sold the car, and they were the most helpful of the three. They had no record of the Key Number, but told me the Dealer that sold the car originally should have a record. Of course they didn't!
The Dealer who sold me the car then offered to get me the Code for half price - 11.50 GBP.
My Car has been sitting in a Garage, repairs have not even begun for over a week and I need a vehicle. No one has a record of this Code and basically now I am held to ransom by Peugeot in order to get this Code.
Reluctantly, I agreed to pay this price, as I cannot afford to have this drag on any longer. I want to stress the girl at Arbury was helpful, but I have no other choice, through no fault of my own!
But why should I be held to ransom by Peugeot Dealers & be made to pay for their lack of organisation & mistakes. Why would I ever consider buying a Peugoet in the future when I know all the problems that will occur later - and the complete disregard for After Sales?
I have paid thousands to them in additional service costs, and this is how I am treated.
