Selling car with engine trouble
We purchased a vehicle from them and almost immediately we began having engine trouble. We took it in to the shop and they stated that we needed a motor. After a couple of months we got the motor placed but it was used and again almost instantly began having problems with that motor. We again brought it back to the shop and it has currently been there for...

I purchased a 2016 jeep patriot in February 2022 for 16,999. I should have known this was bad because I went in to buy with a 625 credit score and got a 16% interest rate and still was paying $490. So the very next day the car is dead (can't get to work) I call drive time and was told to bring the car back, yes even after I tell them it's dead, I get it to...

I purchased a Chevy Malibu 2019 from Drivetime on July 22,2023. The same night the engine light came on. I was told by the manager and sales person the warranty company will take care of it. I called the warranty company and was given several numbers to call from a list. I called and and also drove to several repair locations whom which no one wanted to...

Fraudulent sale
I purchased a 2018 Nissan Pathfinder on July 26,2023 from DriveTime Owings Mill. I initially wanted to purchase a Chevrolet Traverse which didn't have a/c,rust everywhere and a passenger side window that didn't work. They quickly showed us what they advertised a 2018 Nissan Pathfinder SV (it is really a Pathfinder S) it had 45k on it and drove pretty well. When we asked for service records and carfax they showed a Experian Auto Check Score and said there wasn't any service records because not every mechanic reports it. We were ensured that if we purchased this vehicle we would be covered for major mechanical through dealer warranty and extended warranty. We also had 5 days to return the vehicle. Our vehicle has been in the shop for the last two days which is the end of our 5days, because the engine is unsalvagable. This vehicle was sold without the proper checks and test for it. SilverRock the company that handles the warranties is giving both the shop and us the run around. They won't even start covering for a rental car for us.
Desired outcome: Take the car back and a full refund of our money.
is whent thru 3 different vehicles cause on car had misfire and several codes 3 rd car has a transmission issur

Desired outcome: want some satisfaction out of getting it fixed without any other issues
Auto sales
Purchased a vehicle from drivetime and it was advertised as a fiat 500x trekking. In the process of trying to switch insurance companies i found out it's actually a 500x easy which is false advertising. Then the car started having mechanical issues and had been in an accident which they kept dodging giving me the carfax. Now I know why. Went to trade the vehicle in on a different vehicle at a completely different dealership and they informed me it had been in an accident and it's only worth $1700. WOW whatta shocker.
Desired outcome: Take the vehicle back and dissolve the contract as to not leave a black mark on my credit. I won't even ask for reimbursement for the over $1000 in repairs I've made in the 10 months I've had the vehicle.
Car purchase
On April 12,2021, I purchased a 2015 Hyundai sonata from Drivetime. I was told a different price for my down payment online but when i got in store,it was a lot more, with the same information i gave online. I should have walked then. I continued with the purchase,we went over the information and i went home. Less than a week later, the check engine light came on, so i went to Drivetime to speak with them and asked them to run a test to see what the issue was. They said they wouldn’t and that i was no longer to be dealing with Drivetime, all of my service inquiries would be through silver rock and questions for payments would be to bridgecrest the financial company they use. I was told i didn’t need to call them or come by because once i purchase the vehicle they could not assist me with anything else. I worked with silver rock the warranty company they use and attached to my purchase, the referred me to a place to have it checked. I took it to the pep boys and they said it was due to the gas cap not tightening all the way bringing a code for an evaporation leak. I’ve not had any other problems until 3/23 when the car out of nowhere lost power and i had to pull off the hwy with my child and wait 6 hrs for a tow. It was towed to a repair facility and i facilitated all communication with silver rock and the repair shop. Today i found out that bridgecrest and Drivetime are the same company,my vehicle has a refurbished motor that was replaced and fixed under a recall by the previous owner which was a rental car company. When this was done,Hyundai placed an extended warranty on the motor, which essentially voids the silver rock warranty i pay for with my car payment every month at least pertaining to the motor as silver rock will never be allowed to cover this motor in this particular vehicle. I contacted Drivetime via the customer service line and was told they did not know the motor was refurbished and had no of knowing that because they state the rental car company it was purchased from by Drivetime did not tell them. My car has been at the shop for almost a week, i had a repair facility ready to accept all requirements from silver rock,i was looking at a total of 200 dollars out of pocket, and a turn around time of 1-1/2 weeks to get my car,he found a low mileage motor for me. Silver rock was forced to deny the claim due to the extended warranty on the car. I am now being forced by hyundai to pay to have my car towed to their facility at my expense, where they will inspect the vehicle again and decide if they will cover it or not,if they do they will be taking apart an old Hyundai motor and putting it back together to put another refurbished motor in the vehicle, i have adamantly requested this not be done and to please explore other options. My only other options? Pay out of pocket, or risk sending it to the dealership to be charged however much they decide, because I also will be paying for any and all broken parts or they will be put back on my vehicle. They have said they will reimburse for a rental but will not provide one to me. I spoke to Bridgecrest/Drivetime who informed me i could surrender the vehicle at a total loss,no money back no replacement or anything. I’ve spent days and hours trying to get this resolved and can not. I want to see if i have rights and other options. Had i known this from the beginning, i wouldn’t have purchased a vehicle with a refurbished motor in it. I still owe for 2 more years, and there is a chance i may lose this vehicle due to Hyundai forcing me to use them as i don’t trust these people after talking with them and i don’t believe they have my nor my vehicles best interest in mind. Any help and guidance would be appreciated as their “help” is treating me as if i am supposed to know all of this complicated information. I feel like i have been deceived into buying a car that is not going to last, i have zero confidence that this issue will be resolved in any way for me through Drivetime, bridgecrest, silver rock, or Hyundai.
Desired outcome: Unsure, would like to discuss with someone if possible,
The vehicle that I have purchase
I purchase a vehicle on Jan 4, 2003. I ask if I want to add repair coverage, but due to being a full-time student, it would have raised my payment to double the cost of my payment, which I could not afford. After driving the vehicle for less than a month, and 700 miles more than a 30 days/1,500 warranty. The vehicle had over five concerns with the vehicle.
-water pump needs replace-$4,020
-turbocharge (left and right) need replace$6,714
-lower control arm-1,529.67
and a few more items
My concern for a vehicle that had gone through a 23-point inspection, is how is it that none of these issues be reported. I have driven the vehicle a little more than 700 miles over the projected warranty(1,500). But with all these concerns, I am sure they were there before I purchase this vehicle.
I was wondering why my salesperson keep pushing me to purchase the 5-year warranty. But that would have put me in financial hardship, being a full-time student. My monthly payment would have doubled.
The vehicle has not being used since late February, it is parked.
Desired outcome: All I am asking is that Drivetime does the right thing.
Drive Time
I purchased a vehicle from drive time in March 2022. I put a down payment on it, and financed the rest. Right away the vehicle started to have issues, and I went to them and reported this. I had purchased the very expensive warranty, but found out very little was covered under it, so I canceled it before the 30 days. I was able to get the catalytic converter replaced under GM warranty thank God. But there was still almost $800 in repairs that I had to pay for out of pocket. eight months later I am putting out over $1000 more for another issue. I would like to sell the vehicle because it’s becoming such a burden but I will only get half of what I paid. They completely took advantage of me in a vulnerable situation, knowing that I desperately needed a vehicle and sold me a lemon and overcharged me for it on top of that I would never ever ever recommend this company or use it again, and I will warn others to stay far away from drive time.
Desired outcome: I would like some compensation for all this money I’m losing. I am actually losing about $10,000.
Selling broken/mechanically unsafe vehicles as safe
I bought a vehicle from drivetime. The vehicle was said to be mechanically safe however within a couple months of purchase the car broke down. The mechanic told me the car had sever mechanical issues and should not have been sold. It had been repainted to hide previous accidents and had a fraudulent equifax report. Since the initial incident the car has had extensive repairs including an entire engine replacement. Bridgecrest will not change the contract and tells me I need to contact drivetime. Drivetime Will not acknowledge the fraud and tells me if I have an issue I need to contact bridgecrest. I have been scammed and this vehicle has caused my family extreme hardship emotionally physically and financially
Defective auto
I just bought a car from drive time in August 2022 and have been experiencing problems with the car. The sunroof leaked so bad that Tha car was flooded on the passenger side. The front end is not flush I took it to a place in silver silverocks network and was told by the mechanic that the car had been in an accident which was not disclosed in fact they gave me a printout that said the opposite. The entire brake system is badly corroded, the check engine light will not go off I'm also being charged bi weekly for payments. I have done everything they told me and now I have heard nothing and was told that I couldn't bring the car back. I don't have money to just throw away they knew the car had serious issues when they sold it and now they don't want to fix them.there are new issues almost on a daily basis. I should not have to pay a car note and car repairs for a car I just bought.
Desired outcome: The car repaired or a replacement car
I would like to be added to the class action suit.
Used 2014 chevrolet cruze
falling on hard times after losing my Car due to flooding in hurricane Delta, I had little to No Choices in getting financed for a new car. I was elated when I Stumbled upon the add for this dealership that helps people Iike myself get financed for a vehicle. I was even more pleased when I learned of the low down Payment. I had been driving a Rental car (out of Pocket expense) to go to work and had saved up a little Bit of money. I drove from Louisiana to Houston arriving just before closing. The salesman was young But super friendly. His Sales pitch was almost as if he was reading an invisible Script. Before looking at cars, I was sat at a desk where I shared my hardship and what led me there. I provided a few documents and was told I qualified for a vehicle which was such a Relief. I was then given an option Between 2 vehicles. I drove Both in the Parking lot and ultimately chose the 2014 chevy cruze. After Being sold a dream, including all the Bells and whistles of warranties and anti-theft stuff (which I never used once to this day). I Drove Back to Louisiana (which automatically voided my choice to Return or exchange ) . The first week I noted the car was not Running right. As a woman, I didn't know what was the problem. Thankfully, a family friend did a complete tune up including changing plugs, wires, air filter and an oil change. Perfect. The Car continued to allow me to do my job. in spite of the almost $600 car note and almost $300 insurance, I did have a little left over for utilities, food and gas. fast forward a few months. I again found myself with a decrease in my working hours and a huge decrease in income. At the same time, the car started having coolant issues. It would overheat and Show warnings on the dash. No leaks detected. It was Burning coolant. I had the water pump changed, which helped for about a week Before it started overheating again. I bought coolant system leak Repair at Walmart which was not effective for about 3 days. Then Suddenly, it was no longer overheating. Problem solved. I did Research and discovered there were many Recalls on this year and model car. No evidence of Repairs. I did find that the Vin number on my car lead to 3 different listings for Sale. Each listing had the car a different color. Seems fishy or at least questionable. On a Saturday night as me and my granddaughter were traveling from South Louisiana to North Arkansas, it suddenly overheated. As I pulled over and filled the Reservoir with coolant (as I had become a pro at doing), it took longer than usual to cool down enough to get Back on the Road. Well this time it only took about one mile Before it started loosing power and showing high temps and warning lights, Thankfully, I was able to pull into a gas station where I paid almost $20 for a gallon of coolant that did not help in anyway. Needless to say, I was stranded 3 hours away from home and 3 hours away from my husband who thankfully came to the Rescue. Upon arriving, he attempted to find the problem. No luck. The only option was to leave the car there and Return when we could. In the meantime, an emergency in the family had me trying to get Back to Louisiana. Attempts at Renting a car were unsuccessful. (another upsetting prey on Consumers). Ultimately we had to spend more than $300 in gas for my husband to Bring me home and immediately Return to Arkansas. One more attempt was made at Repairing my car. My husband purchased a thermostat and Returned to my car and changed the part (in the dark). Did NOT WORK! The car still overheated after another $20 gallon of coolant. (more consumer abuse). So here I am with a car that don't run, no way to get to work which Results in no Money for car insurance (flag on license = More money owed and more issues) or car note. Not once did any extra incentives I purchased help in any way. I am now facing Repossession and no chance of financing for another car loan. So It is true, as I Read from another consumer " Drive time (BridgCrest) does not sell you a vehicle. The Sell you debt ". Oh and on a 2014 Chery cruze, I owe $27,000.00. Who loses in this situation?
Desired outcome: Repaired Reliable Vehicle as a fair price. No special favors. Just asking to get what I pay for.
2014 Kia Forte
I put $500 down on June 20th 2022 and a week and a half later my battery died I had to jump my car until I finally had to buy a new one I was told I had 30 days or 1,000 miles an I supposibly went over but it was under my 30 days so they didn't cover it. Now I have to have my fiance drive me to work due to something wrong with the tires and my breaks are going out I also went to trade this car in and found out it is worth only 6,000$ Kelly blue book in good condition and I'm having to pay $258 every other week on 20,000$ car so they wouldn't take it my transmission is go in ng out on my d ok agnostics test it said it need new rotors break BB lines break pads ball joints basically ALot I have a screen shot in can attach or send that tells you what all is wrong and needs inspected I'm to scared to drive it I make my fiancee take me to work everyday and don't like having my children in n the car either I already had to pay for a battery that I shouldnt of even had to replace of only having it a week and a half and now all of these other issues
Desired outcome: Different and new car or get it fixed with a rental paid for until it is fixed free of charge and cheaper payments
2016 kia sorento
I would like to be added to the Class Action Lawsuit against Drive time for selling me a lemon. I purchased a 2016 Kia Sorento from them on September 17th, 2022 and my engine died on me November 19th, 2022. Drive time pushed me to the warranty company that I purchased with the vehicle and was told they just sale cars and not fix them. Long story short the Kia Dealership ended up replacing my engine with a new one almost 2 months later because of a class action lawsuit for certain engines. I had to pay for a rental car for 45 days until my vehicle was fixed. Drive time was no help at all and rude at times. Just took my money!
Desired outcome: Compensation for the inconveniences, stress and frustration. Especially by still having to pay a car note, insurance and a rental causing me to fall behind in bills. It was very depressing and frustrating.
2014 volkswagen jetta
In January 2021 I purchased a car from drivetime in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania out of sheer desperation. I had lost my job and that made my credit score low and was beginning a new job so I needed transportation. This was the only place with an adorable down payment. I gave $900 down and was told I was signing a 2 year loan. I have not missed a payment and I pay an extra $45 every 2 wells on top of the payment due. It’s now august 2022. I financed 14000 initially and today I owe over $15000,00. How is that even possible? I can’t get any information online about when this will be paid off and contacting them is a joke. They posted upon me in a time of nerd and I fell for it out of desperation. Predatory lending is illegal and they should be sued out of business.
Desired outcome: I will return the vehicle and they will consider the loan paid in full.
False Information Given/ Lies To have me Return The Car!!!!!
So I just moved to NC and I really need a car because I needed to get to work. I knew I should have waited but I went to drivetime. When the guy was talking he seemed okay. I mean I keep questioning and then He finally gave me a deal I thought was good. I was hustled. He told me one thing and then he told me there would be things he added. I told him I needed it in writing he stated that it was done on the computer. So once I paid for everything I was there for like 6 hours they were actually closing the store. I was just so ready to go. The next day I went over the paper and nothing we discuss he put down. hen I called and no one know who helped me. They said they could honor it. Going forward there was an engine recall on my car and at 1st it was new no one knew how to deal with it. saying different things. I called Bridgecrest and asked what my options were on a recall that could not be repaired they said to pay out of pocket which was more than what the car was worth or let them come get and void it out. Of course, I trusted the rep and I let them pick it u[p. Well, I have not heard anything since 2019. I am just hearing something now 06/30/2022. I just spoke with both complained They were so rude and called me a liar.
Desired outcome: I want this item removed from my credit report because it was based on a lie.
Ruined My Life and Credit
I got a 2008 Ford Edge. It was almost paid off when the computer went out. The repairs were $5,000. The amount owed was still $12,000. The car was worth $1300. I did everything I could to try to get the car fixed. I could not trade it in because I was upside down. I told DriveTime/Bridgecrest several times to come pick up their car. They refused. I offered to pay the KBB on it and they refused that offer too. They literally said, "we will not come get the car because it doesn't run. It has no value". Instead of midigating their damages. They charged the car off for over $12,000. I was forced to store their car for over 2 years. I moved to another state for work and had to have the car towed. I am now homeless because I cannot find work. I'm an accountant but have been denied jobs because of this charge off on my credit.
Desired outcome: Credit restoration, compensation for storing their property for 2 years, and 1 years worth of salary.
Automobile
8 days after my purchase my Elantra shut down while in work. After ,3 days with the mechanic they shop determined I was sold a car without oil. They checked the dip stick and it was dry. Is that something I should've checked? Like isn't it being sold out of a dealership the usually looks under the hood before the sell it. I tell you DRIVETIME cleans the...

I purchased a 2018 Kia Soul in September 2021 at 75,000 miles at DriveTime in Gastonia NC. I wasn’t given Kia information on the vehicle at the time of purchase. I maintained al routine checkups and oil changes on the vehicle. I’m April 2022 the engine blew. I contacted SilverRock Warranty (which DriveTime required me to purchase in order to buy the vehicle) and they directed me to take my car to Meineke. I did that-they directed me Kia. I contacted Kia Consumer Affairs and they told me to take my car to their dealership. They then inform me after diagnostics were ran they they would not cover my engine due to me not activating my warranty at the time of purchase.
I informed them that DriveTime gave me no information on that. So now I’m stuck with a car payment with a vehicle that won’t run. I’ve only had the car for 9 months!
Desired outcome: A new Car or my Engine Replaced
Harassment
I bought a car from Drivetime almost a year ago. I have been late a couple of times due to losing my job and waiting for unemployment to kick in and then waiting on my first paycheck when I got a new job. Yes, I do understand that they will call if you are late. I even understand them calling you daily. But I receive between 3 and 8 calls PER DAY from their...
