I went to Cell C Westgate Mall to buy a sim card and try to get sim swap done. Right at the door, which was locked, came a manager to open. She instructed me to sanitize. I informed her that I brought my own sanitizer which I wish to use because I have a skin irritation problem. There are sanitizers in the mall that burn my skin. Right there she told me, you either use ours, or I am not letting you in". Practically she was bullying me.
I said to her so basically you store places no consideration to people 's health. She still emphasized that I wont get in if I don't use cell C sanitizer. By the way, the store sanitizer is not even branded, at least mine was bought from Edgars store and is branded. I used that store sanitizer and my hands started burning in about a few minutes and it was unbearable.
Here is the thing, you are a big retailer and surely should be well vested with covid 19 regulations. It has been widely reported that some of these sanitizers cause skin irritations on some people, but your organization comes with a stupid and racist decision to force use of your unbranded sanitizer on customers. I can confirm that this does not apply to Clearwater Mall which is in Roodepoort because it predominantly services white people. It is widely known that Westgate Mall services black people. This was a shock for me because all stores in Westgate mall, allows use of own sanitizers, well except Cell C.
Seemingly your store is so backward such that you feel very confident in treating black people just like Clicks stores. This is exactly the same racist narrative pushed by Clicks management of degrading and looking upon blacks with disdain and inhumanely. You do not place the lives of people first but, profits. So you don't give a damn that a sanitizer can cause skin irritations just so long as you can cash in your money at the end of the day.
Your Westgate store is just rubbish. This policy of using only your sanitizer in your store will cost you dearly, its just a matter of time. By the way, the lady who was behind me, serviced by the same rude manager did indicate that the lady"UYADELELA" meaning she is disrespectful. Your staff can remain uncouth, and you can treat people anyway you want. I am done with Cell C. Once my contracts end, I will move to another service provider, that I can assure you of. A sanitizer issue might be minute to you, but to me, its not. These media reports that your business is not doing well and drowning hmmm! are serious.
