Chase has a banking practice in their checking accounts to take the largest amount and go to the smallest if more than 1 transaction is processed on a given day, creating multiple overdraft fees. The policy to help their customer should be to go from smallest to largest creating fewer fees.
This is supposed to happen first qtr next year and they can do a thing about it now, so we are screwed until then, time to find a new bank. Or better yet a credit union!

count me in, I have about $330.00 in fees alone. I made a huge mistake calculating my account balance. My account is overdrawn due to 6 items presented for payment on one day. A couple of days later 2 items and the next day 2 more items.

Since Chase gave authorization for payment ( because the money was in the bank at the time) they paid all of the items. By the way, this was caused because I wrote an unexpected check for my drycleaning of $100. Technically, I should be overdrawn in the amount of $100. My account is overdrawn by fees of $330.00 plus the amount legitimately owe.

I have told Chase I admit fault and one fee per day is reasonable. I am torn whether to pay the fees as I do not want a bad report to chex systems on my name when trying to open an account elsewhere.

Should I suck it up and pay and hope to get it back in a class action lawsuit?

That why congess will not allow wal-mart to start their own banking company. all banks are rip off and the money is shared some how. that why i cash my paycheck at wal-mart and pay my bill by moneyorder. it is the safest and fee-less way to pay. chase bank is a f*&^%ing rip-off bank. I deposited my paycheck one friday by night deposit and stated sending out check for bill the next day that would mostly get processed to tuesday depending on the mail. some came thru wensday and chase was charging overdraft fees because the rep that processed the check put a 7 day hold on the check, even thought the check was paid by the bank that monday chase still didn't release the hold until i called them thursday morning. no one would explain or give me an reasonable answer why funds don't get released if they are paid so when i got paid that following friday i cashed my check at wal-mart for $3.00 and went to chase and paid the rip-off fees in full and asked to closed my account. a manager came over to try to convince me to remain a customer he even offered to credit all the fees. i really found that funny that now i want to close my account i can get the fees refunded but when i called on the phone there was nothing they could do. but that wasn't going to help me at all because i still had to get merchant paid for returned checks and they charged a return fee as well so i told chase u only get one chance to ### me and u had your chance come my account now and have a nice day.

I am in also! Jlmeyer9476@yahoo.com They now owe me about $500 in fees due to an error on their part. I had two different people tell me I would receive my money back and then never recived it. I have complained to the BBB, and wrote a letter to the CEO in New York and the president in cincinnati, oh!

I heard the National Consumer Law Center has a class action suit for that and also there is one for credit card fees and credit reduction in California. Join in! The response from Chase when I asked about their methods is that "the customers have asked us to hold their smaller debits and put the large debits through first so as not to miss an important payment". So they hold "pending" debits for days until one comes that can start NSF fees. I would like to know one customer who "requested" this method. Try Citibank, they process debits as they come through, I am told.

I used to bank at WAMU before it was swallowed by Chase. I have a savings and checking account. The two accounts are linked. I keep little in the checking, since I write few checks, and a substantial sum (approaching $100, 000) in savings. In the past, when I wrote a check, the overdraft amount was automatically transferred from savings to checking, plus $25, with NO FEES. I have had the accounts for eight years, and I have been satisfied. I opened my December statement, and discovered that Chase is now charging me $10 each time money is transferred between accounts. When I called customer service and finally managed to speak to a human, all she could say was "I'm sorry you're having problems. There is nothing I can do." I have had the same experience at my local Studio City branch. The manager REFUSED to even consider reversing a charge for a safe deposit box, even though I qualify for a FREE box. He was so incredibly rude, and did not even bother checking my balance or the length of time I had been a customer. If this is the way CHASE treats good customers, they won't have many for long. I am moving my money to a local bank or to my credit union.

I'm on a fixed income and had no problems with washington mutual since 2003. since chase took over i've had nothing but problems as far as overdraft fees as of this past week i'm up to $434.20 and thats checking my acct. at least 2 times a day. theres also charges i have no idea were they come from. and when i called to talk to some one twice i'v gotten the same person, this guy is very rude (more then the rest) he tells me "if i don't like it go somewere else and do my banking" now that lets you know whats up with this so called bank. They sure gave washington Mutual a bad name.chase bank is a ripp off ! How can they sleep at night knowing what there doing to people.

If you have a valid complaint with that bank, I suggest calling the branch manager, and if it is still not resolved, you should report it to the bank's regulator - an office of the US Treasury Dept. I had a claim against Wells Fargo some years back and at that time the regulator was the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency. Laws have changed recently - not sure if they still regulate all commercial banks at this time. This is very important - just bringing up the subject of reporting to their regulator will probably move them to help you since the last thing they want you to do is to report them - they hate that big time!

Chase is in the business of extorting money by any means available. I asked the to reverse charges that were unauthorized and was charged numerous overdraft fees as a result of those charges. I was denied investigation into those charges and told to contact thos companies directly for refunds. Some did some didn't and Chase never refunded a single Overdraft before closing my account and attempting to collect the almost $400.00 for overdraft against the $120.00 unauthorized charges. If Chase would have not allowed a .99 transaction to go through then they would not be able to charge a $33 fee.

Very bad business and wished WaMu nevers sold to Chase.

Chase charges interest on a federal unsubsidized Stafford loan but does not send statements about this interest.

My husband had not helped me to figure this out: Chase would not have notified me about this interest until I graduated and I got their bill for the loan and interest incurred.

This is criminal.

Please count me in this law suit. We had recently tried to apply for their overdraft credit line protection and was turned down. When we opened a savings acct. so that funds can be transferred when the checking is overdrawn, the $ was taken out by their collection without us knowing. We now have a zero balance and no approval for overdraft protection. I contacted Chase and was told that they cannot help us. This bank really takes advantage of the hard working class.

count me in they ripped me off for 200.00 and it will cost more to file a suit. After cying in the bank they offered to split it in half if I would stop crying and not cry on my way out. Chase is not alone all the banks are ripping people off by every trick in thier book to get you to overdraft. The law must be changed. And the excuse I read by the banker about not able to notify everyone is bull the computer can be program to notify you or just insuficient funds when using card will do nicely or at least the atm can notify you of no funds and give you the option of accepting the charges. It is a very profitable racket all the banks are doing and it will not stop untill the laws are changed. Maybe a class action email to the goverment I am sure an million plus people have been ripped off by thier bank. jetmyster@hotmail.com

Have experienced similar situations in past with Chase... now the online banking fiasco, it's been 2 days and no legitimate reason is being given.

Tired of being transferred to customer service reps outside of continental U.S. Tired of dealing with supervisors who are unprofessional and aren't willing to take the effort to resolve issues. Tired of depositing funds which are accepted immediately.. but am not able to access my money when i want. My money is in that bank 24/7... i know that Chase has the means to afford the best specialists and systems. I spend most of my time out of my home state and do most of my banking either online or via telephone. Damn us, me if i want to access my money on saturday or sunday. Never any reps or supervisors available on weekends. Why is that. Is it because Chase and many other large banks are playing a numbers game... they have access to our money 24/7 but in essence we have access to our own money deposited with them, only so many hours a day... and for 5 days. Hmmm rigged game if you ask me.

Yeah, count me in. I don't have a lot in NSF fees, but what happened to me is I was robbed at gunpoint down in Mexico, they forced me to give them all they could take from the ATM card (about $480 US) This made a few things go NSF when they tried to collect (from items alreadycharged). Chase happily charged me NSF fees to the tune of about $160.
I have 2 accounts linked, and still had money in the other account, so I made it to my destination, but as soon as more money was added, they took it and put it in the overdrafted account (collected their fees from my misfortune, yes, I told them what happened). But there wasn't enough to cover all of it. Later, they took the rest out when the account was low, this did not cause the account to fall below 0, but the next transaction, which would have been covered, caused an NSF. My financiers have ceased to fund me through Chase because of their "leaky" accounts. Since then, the NSFs and daily negative balance charges have been building up. I have written to them and they keep saying they have a right to "balance out" a negative balance, basically, take money from one account and put it in another, without notification, whenever they want. Had the action caused a direct NSF, they say they would not have charged a fee, but since it caused an indirect NSF I would have to pay the charge. I said that manipulating my accounts and causing fees as a result is stealing. They call it banking.

That isn't all. When you walk away from a situation like this, they try to collect and it goes on your credit and some other record banks share, so you can't open another account elsewhere.

Definitely. Make this happen.
