I have called and emailed almost every day for over 61 days. Each time I call, I am told my complaint will be escalated and I will hear back from someone. I am also told that a background check will take approximately 3-5 days.
IT HAS BEEN OVER 61 DAYS!
I am missing out on income at a time when I really need it. I am missing out of the opportunity to earn money for my family.
I went to the local court house and was told that the counties in Michigan no longer perform background checks. It is now done at the STATE level.
I have given the website to a supervisor at Uber. Checkr hired out the criminal portion of the background check to HireRight. HireRight has stated "that isn't the
way they do things" and will no use the new website for background checks.
The website is www.michigan.gov/ichat

The 70th District Courthouse no longer does background checks due to the "Clean Slate Law."
Stop Responding
The Clean Slate Law is a legal provision that allows individuals with criminal records to have their prior convictions set aside or expunged from their records. The law varies from state to state, but the general idea is to help people with criminal records to move on with their lives by removing barriers to employment, housing, and other opportunities 12.
In Michigan, the Clean Slate Law was signed into law on October 13, 2020, as Public Act 193 of 2020. The law includes a group of bills collectively known as the “Clean Slate” package. These bills have impacted the rules and procedures an individual may use to have prior convictions set aside. In addition to making several changes to the existing paper application processes and eligible offenses, the Clean Slate package also created a process to automatically set aside certain convictions without an application. The new automatic process required the Michigan State Police (MSP) to make technical changes to the Criminal History Record (CHR) database. To make those changes, the legislation provided for a two-year development process, making the effective date April 11, 2023 1.
