Chegg Review: Inaccurate Solutions and Terrible Customer Service
Chegg has been a real headache for me. I've been using it for three of my major classes, but I've had so many problems with it that I'm not sure it's worth it. For starters, some of the solutions to problems are just plain wrong. I've seen multiple users point out the mistakes, but Chegg still keeps them up on the website. It's frustrating to pay for a service that doesn't even provide accurate information.
But the real kicker was when Chegg locked me out of my account for 48 hours for "suspicious activity." I was just trying to use it on two of my devices, but apparently that was enough to trigger their security measures. I understand the need to prevent multiple usage, but two days is a long time to be locked out. When I reached out to customer service, I was met with the worst service I've ever experienced. I was on hold for 30 minutes, transferred around multiple times, and had to explain my problem over and over again. It was a simple issue that should have been resolved quickly, but instead I was on the phone for over an hour.
After that, I didn't have any issues for a while. But then, the day before a final, my account was locked again. I called customer service at 9pm, but was left on hold for over 30 minutes. It was frustrating to wait so long for no one to talk to me. At that point, I decided I was done with Chegg. It's just not worth the $15/month for inaccurate information and terrible customer service.
Overall, I would not recommend Chegg to anyone. The mistakes in their solutions and the poor customer service make it a waste of money. If you're looking for a reliable study resource, look elsewhere.
Chegg Review: A Necessary Evil for Engineering Students
I gotta say, Chegg is a real doozy. I mean, where do I even start? First off, they don't even let you give them zero stars, which is a real shame because that's what they deserve. And don't even get me started on their website. It's like they want you to feel like a baby trying to navigate it. Want to talk to customer service? Good luck finding the chat option because it's hidden somewhere in the abyss. And when you do find it, it's not even a real chat, it's just texting. Like, come on, Chegg, get with the times.
And don't even think about trying to manage your payment options on their site. You have to call or text them like it's the Stone Age or something. And even then, it's not a smooth process. You'll probably end up getting lost in their site and feeling like a complete idiot. I mean, I've tried to navigate their site so many times and I always end up feeling like I need a degree in computer science just to find what I'm looking for.
It's not just me, either. I've talked to other people who use Chegg and they all say the same thing. The site is a mess and the customer service is non-existent. It's like they don't care about their customers at all. And it's not like they're hurting for money, either. They're making millions of dollars and they can't even offer a decent customer service chat? It's ridiculous.
But, I will say this, as much as I hate Chegg, it's a necessary evil for engineering students. Their textbook solutions have saved my butt more times than I can count. But as soon as I graduate, I'm dumping them like a hot potato. I can't wait to be done with their terrible website and non-existent customer service.
Chegg Review: Inaccurate Resources, Unhelpful Tutors, and Strict Cheating Policy - Not Worth the Risk
I recently decided to give Chegg a try after seeing their ads for tutoring and academic resources. As a STEM major at a competitive university, I was hoping to find some useful study materials. Unfortunately, I was sorely disappointed with what I found.
First of all, their online resources like test banks and guided answers are almost always incorrect. Even when I did find correct answers, they were not guided and expected me to simply copy and paste them into my work. This is obviously not helpful for actually learning the material.
Next, I decided to try out their tutoring services. I was shocked to find that even their "accredited tutors" were often unable to help me with worksheet problems. In fact, some of them even admitted that they didn't know what to do! It turns out that Chegg pays their tutors even if their answers are wrong, so there is no incentive for them to actually provide accurate help.
But the biggest issue with Chegg is their policy on cheating. They will work with your university to track you down if you copy and cheat, which is definitely not worth the risk. And even if you do use Chegg for legitimate purposes, they track every single click on your account and will turn over all your information to universities if asked. This means that anything you do on Chegg, including specific questions and comments, can be viewed by your school's judicial services.
In my opinion, Chegg is a waste of time and money. Their resources are often incorrect and their tutoring services are not helpful. And with their strict policy on cheating, it's just not worth the risk. I would not recommend Chegg to anyone, especially not to students who are serious about their education.
Chegg Review: Faulty Algorithms, Terrible Customer Service, and a Risk to Your Academic Career
My first experience with Chegg was not a good one, and unfortunately, it will be my last. I may have made the mistake of doing business with them again, but I will never go back to them. Their algorithms for detecting multiple users on an account are so backwards that it's almost laughable. When I spoke with them, they told me that there was no record showing that I shared my account, and that my account was active, but they lied. If you work and study on your work computers, you'll have to reset your password every 4 seconds. If you use library or lab computers, you'll also have to reset your password because Chegg thinks you're account sharing. If you use a VPN, you'll be blocked from accessing the site. Finally, if you complain about any of it, you'll have your Chegg account deleted with no refund.
They also get sneaky about billing you extra too. Using Chegg is a risk to your academic career because your school can contact Chegg at any time and get exactly what you accessed and looked at and the time you were on. Basically, if you use anything other than buying books, you can get in trouble for cheating. Chegg will throw you under the bus. Their customer service lady was rude and kept talking to me like I was wasting her time when I kept telling her why my account was suspended. Chegg doesn't care! Once they have your money, their opinion is, "Tough luck suckers! We just got at least one month of fees out of you. More if you don't take the hours to unsubscribe."
This site is a joke! Enter at your own risk, some people like to learn the hard way. Chegg is like a really small scam. They provide tutorials, but they just steal your money even after you stopped the contract. If anyone is reading this, DON'T MAKE AN ACCOUNT WITH THEM. They are not even responding to my emails.
In conclusion, Chegg is not a reliable source for academic help. Their algorithms are faulty, and their customer service is terrible. They are sneaky about billing you extra, and using their services can put your academic career at risk. It's best to avoid them altogether and find a more trustworthy source for academic assistance.
Chegg's Multiple Device Access Restrictions are Frustrating and Unfair
I'm really not sure what's going on with Chegg lately. I've had to reset my password so many times, it's getting ridiculous. I like to use my computer to access my online textbooks because it's just easier to read them that way. But I also use my phone for the Chegg Study app and sometimes I look up problems on Safari. This was never a problem before, but now Chegg seems to think that multiple people are using my account if I access it from more than one device. It's like they don't trust me or something!
Just today, I got an email saying that my account has been locked because of "multiple people accessing it." But I'm the only one who has access to it! Why would I pay $15.94 a month just to share it with someone else? I reached out to Chegg on Twitter and they just sent me the same message that was in the email. They said my account is suspended for 48 hours while they decide whether or not to delete it permanently. This is crazy! And it seems like other people are having the same problem.
I asked Chegg if they could refund me because it doesn't make sense to pay for something and then be restricted from using it. But they said they can't do anything until a decision is made. It's just frustrating. And it's not just this issue - sometimes the "experts" on Chegg give you the wrong answers or say your image is unclear when it's not. It's like they don't even care about helping you anymore.
Chegg used to be really helpful, but now it's just a headache. And for $15.94 a month, it's not worth it. I hope Chegg can figure out a way to let their customers use their service on any device they want. It's not fair to restrict us like this.
Mixed Experience with Chegg.com: Great for Selling, Terrible for Buying
I recently had an experience with Chegg.com that was both positive and negative. I sold two used books to them and was pleasantly surprised by how quickly they paid me and how much they paid. It was definitely more than what my school's bookstore would have given me. This positive experience led me to believe that buying books from them would be just as great. Unfortunately, I was wrong.
The first book I received was in terrible condition. It was torn inside and out, had dirt inside the covers, and had writing throughout the book. I was disgusted and immediately contacted customer service. They apologized and said they would send me another book. They even offered me a 10% discount on my next purchase. I was happy with their response and waited for the next book.
The second book arrived and it was just as bad as the first. It had a hole in the front, was torn, and had water damage. I was extremely disappointed and contacted customer service again. I pointed out how strict they are with the quality of used books they sell and how disappointed I was with the two books they had sent me. They offered me a 50% discount on my purchase and said they would send me another book. While this was a good offer, I was frustrated that I would have to drive to a UPS center to return the two terrible books (since they don't offer pickup service). It was at least a 20-minute drive for me, but I decided to give them one more chance.
The third book arrived today and I am beyond disappointed. Once again, there was writing throughout the book and an unacceptable level of tears. It was clear that they would never accept a book in this condition if it was sold to them. I have decided that I am done with Chegg.com and will not be using their services in the future. It's incredibly disappointing to have had such a negative experience after such a positive one.
Frustrating Experience with Chegg: Poor Customer Service and Unhelpful Policies
I had a really frustrating experience with Chegg. I tried to cancel my book rental after 45 minutes, but they wouldn't let me. I understand that this is their policy, but it's really inconvenient and seems a bit shady to me. However, my main concern was that I wanted to file a complaint about their operations. As someone who studies businesses and operations, I know that complaints can be really helpful for companies to see where they're going wrong and what systems need to be updated.
When I called the customer service number, I was hoping to speak with a supervisor. I had previously chatted with a helper online, but they weren't able to help me. Unfortunately, the agent I spoke with on the phone was really rude and refused to transfer me to a supervisor. He even told me that many companies have similar policies, which I don't think is true based on my own experiences shopping online.
The agent was really combative with me and kept talking over me and cutting me off. I never accused him of anything, I just wanted to log a complaint about the system in place. It was really frustrating that he wouldn't listen to me and kept badgering me instead. I even wanted to file a complaint about him, but he told me that the only way to do that was through him. That seems really unfair to me.
Overall, I think there are a lot of systems in place at Chegg that negatively impact their customer service. I even wonder if they're trying to scam their customers by not allowing them to cancel rentals and insisting on receiving the book back. Maybe they're hoping that people will forget about it and pay the full rental fee. I don't know for sure, but it's definitely a possibility.
Based on my experience, I don't think the savings from Chegg are worth it. Their customer service and client relations don't seem to be a top priority, and that's really disappointing. I hope this review helps other people who are considering using Chegg.
Chegg Review: Terrible Customer Service and Fraudulent Charges
I recently rented a book from Chegg and unfortunately, it arrived two days later than the promised delivery date. To make matters worse, when I paid for my order through PayPal, Chegg attempted to charge me $126.00 for a $29.00 order. I was shocked and confused by this unknown charge, and to my dismay, they also tried to charge my account two additional times for the $29.00. As a result, PayPal automatically switched the charges to come from a different account because I didn't have the funds for the $126.00 charge. However, this caused my bank to give me two $32 charges on my second account because I didn't have the funds in that account either.
I tried to contact Chegg repeatedly, calling them four different times and begging to talk to a manager or the financial department, but to no avail. I provided all the information that the student representatives asked for, including my bank information, but the company never returned my call to retrieve that information from me or explain why they tried to charge me $129.00, which destroyed two of my accounts.
As a student, I don't have a lot of extra funds in my accounts to cover incorrect charges, and I was extremely disappointed with the lack of assistance from Chegg. My bank informed me that if any charges try to come through on my account from Chegg, they will be automatically declined for fraudulent activity, and my account will be frozen from now on. I would caution anyone who uses Chegg to be wary of the charges they may try to put through that aren't associated with your order.
Furthermore, the customer service experience with Chegg was terrible. The hold time was insane when trying to talk to a student representative, and I was extremely disappointed with the lack of compassion or customer service skills displayed by the representatives. Each and every person perfectly gave me the runaround and quoted the same things to me during each call, which made it seem like they have these issues often and have a script for dealing with disgruntled customers.
After my call with Chegg customer service, I received an email that was a survey/review and promised that if I wasn't happy or if my issue wasn't resolved, they would return my call and remedy the situation. However, they never did, neither did the supervisor or the financial department.
In conclusion, I would not recommend using Chegg. They do not provide any assistance whatsoever when it comes to handling their mistakes, and their customer service is terrible. If you choose to use Chegg, be prepared for potential fraudulent charges and a lack of assistance from their representatives.
Chegg Review: Terrible Customer Service and Plagiarism Scam
So, I had this paper that I thought was all good to go, but then I got hit with the dreaded plagiarism accusation. I was freaking out, but then I remembered hearing about Chegg and their plagiarism checker. I figured I'd give it a shot and signed up for the 3-day free trial.
Well, let me tell you, it was a total waste of time. The "plagiarism" they were flagging was literally just the name of a company - Detroit Water and Sewage Department. Like, seriously? That's not even close to plagiarism.
Anyway, I decided to cancel my subscription before I got charged, but when I logged into my account, it said I didn't have a subscription. I knew that wasn't right, so I contacted their customer service. They told me that there was no subscription under my email or the card I provided, and that their billing team would contact me in 3 business days to sort it out.
Well, 5 business days went by and I hadn't heard anything. So I messaged them again, and they told me that they had figured out that I did have a subscription, but that I must have made a typo in my email when I signed up. I know for a fact that I didn't make a typo, because I got the welcome email at the same time as I signed up. But they kept insisting that it was my fault.
It was so frustrating. The "typo" kept changing throughout our conversation, and I felt like they were just trying to get me to give up and agree that it was my fault. Eventually, I demanded a refund, and after a lot of back and forth, they finally agreed to give me one.
But I'm still not convinced that they won't try to charge me again. Their customer service was so sketchy, and I feel like they were just trying to scam me. It's especially messed up because they know that their target audience is students who are already struggling financially.
So, my advice? Don't bother with Chegg. It's not worth the hassle, and their customer service is terrible. And if you do sign up and try to cancel, make sure you contact them right away if it says you don't have a subscription. Don't fall for their plagiarism prompt either - it's a total scam.
Terrible Customer Service Experience with Chegg: No Response, Rude Staff, and No Refunds After 21 Days
I had a really bad experience with Chegg. I needed to return a book because I dropped a class, so I called customer service. I had to wait 40 minutes on hold before I could talk to someone. When I explained the situation, they said it was no problem and they would mail me a shipping label with my book. But when my book arrived, I couldn't find the label anywhere. I tried calling and emailing for three weeks, but I never got a response.
Finally, I called again and was answered within five minutes. But the girl on the phone was really rude to me. She told me that I was wrong and that no one had told me they would mail me the label. She said they had emailed it to me instead. But I checked my email and spam folder, and I hadn't received anything from Chegg. I told her this, but she didn't care. She said it was my fault for not reading their website, which says there are no refunds for returning a book after 21 days.
I asked to speak to a manager, but she refused. She said the manager would only tell me the same thing she had already told me. I had to ask two times before she finally agreed to let me speak to the manager. But even then, the manager could only give me a 25% discount. I was really frustrated and tired of talking to her, so I just accepted the discount.
During the entire phone call, I could hear someone in the background coughing and talking about smoking weed. It was really distracting and made it hard to hear the girl on the phone.
Overall, I was really disappointed with my experience with Chegg. They didn't respond to my emails or calls for three weeks, and when I finally did get through, the girl on the phone was really rude to me. I don't think I'll be using Chegg again in the future.

Fraudulent Charges
I noticed back in August a charge from this company since going through my statements and I was notified by my Capital One Card that since 2020 Chegg was charging my account. They told me this was for school books or work related to college etc..
First I never heard of this company and second I graduated in 1985 so this was not my request from this company and these charges are over $1000.00 and I am waiting for a representative to get back to me. This is extremely upsetting and a lot of money that was stolen from my credit card.
Desired outcome: The credit back to me.
I canceled my account
I am beyond pissed right now. I canceled my chegg account and I keep getting charged for it. I was charged last month as well as this month. I want someone to get back to me immediately and refund me my money for the charge for this month that is pending in my account. It would not let me take my card out of the system and I am furious. I will never be using this service ever again nor will I be telling anyone I know to. Get back to me immediately
Desired outcome: Refund me

Homework questions
Inaccurate Answers and Poor Customer Support
Chegg is a website that many college students use to help them with their homework. Professors are often lazy and use the same homework questions for each course, which is why Chegg exists. However, the accuracy of the answers on this site is not great.
I used Chegg last year during midterms to help me with some of my homework. I paid $15 per month for the service, but the textbook questions and answers were only 60% correct. This is not worth the money.
One major issue with Chegg is that you can vote on how helpful the answer was. and still nothing. They have answered questions from FOUR YEARS PRIOR that had 200 downvotes and only 10 upvotes, yet it was still the only answer available. This is not helpful at all.
Customer support is another issue with Chegg. They do not offer refunds for any reason, even if you cannot use the service. I tried to get my money back from my bank, but their terms of service explicitly prevent refunds.
Overall, I would not recommend Chegg. Yahoo Answers was surprisingly more helpful.
Desired outcome: REFUND these questions are not all correct.

Chegg Review: Shady Business Tactics and Sneaky Pop-Ups Everywhere
I gotta say, Chegg is not the way to go. They got some sneaky tactics that'll leave you feeling scammed. First off, don't even think about putting your credit card on your profile. I made that mistake and it was a nightmare. I was just trying to retrieve some saved citations from my mobile and bam! Pop-ups everywhere. They tryna lure you in with a "free service" but you gotta use the 3-day free trial to access it. And if you slip up and forget to cancel, they'll hit your card faster than you can say "Chegg".
But here's the kicker, you can only cancel from a computer. Who carries a computer around with them all the time? Not me, that's for sure. So I tried removing my credit cards from my mobile but nope, you can't do that without customer service assistance. And let me tell you, their customer service is a joke. I was working 12-14 hour shifts in the field with no access to a computer. I had to stop everything to borrow an iPad and I still couldn't get it to cancel. And get this, the only way you can remove the card is to call or text customer service. But it feels like you're talking to the same person using different automated names.
It's like they want you to stop everything in your life just to chase them down and cancel a service that you don't even need or use. And once I finally got them to remove my credit cards, they hit me with some more BS. They tell me I can never put that card back on my Chegg profile again and I'll lose immediate access to the service even though they just took my money for a month of access.
It's a trap, y'all. Pop-ups everywhere, no refunds, no access. Sounds like some shady business tactics to me. I'm contacting my bank and the BBB and hoping for a class action lawsuit. Don't fall for it, folks. Stay far away from Chegg.
Chegg Review: A Total Scam - Save Yourself the Hassle and Go Somewhere Else
I gotta tell ya, if you're thinking about using Chegg to save a few bucks on textbooks, you might wanna think again. I mean, I've bought books from Amazon countless times and never had a problem. But when I tried to get a couple of books from Chegg, it was a total disaster.
I thought I had bought both books, but apparently one of them was a rental. And now they're telling me I have to return it, even though it's listed for sale at $125! And get this - they want me to pay an extra $115 if I want to keep it! That's more than $200 for a book that's only worth $125! What a ripoff!
I tried to talk to their customer service, but all they could say was "sorry for the confusion". Like that's gonna make me feel any better. And don't even get me started on the shipping costs. It's like they're trying to stick their slimy hands in my pockets and rip out my wallet!
Honestly, I'd rather just go to a bookstore or order from Amazon. At least I know I won't get screwed over like this. And the book I was trying to get - Mastering the World of Psychology (5th edition) - is way cheaper on Amazon anyway. You can get it for anywhere between $15 and $45, depending on the edition. But on Chegg, they want you to pay $78, plus tax and shipping. What a joke!
I've ordered stuff from Russia and China before, and I've never felt this disgusted. Chegg is a total scam, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Save yourself the hassle and go somewhere else.
Disappointing Experience with Chegg's Textbook Buyback Program
I gotta say, I'm pretty disappointed with Chegg. I was trying to sell some of my textbooks and couldn't find any good options, so I decided to give them a shot. Their prices seemed decent enough, especially compared to what my school was offering. I sent in a bunch of books and got some checks back, but when I looked at my account, I noticed that one book was still "in transit" even though I had shipped them all together.
I tried calling their customer service, but I was on hold for what felt like forever. Finally, I got through to someone and they told me that my book had been marked as "poor condition" and that I could either donate it or have it sent back to me. I was pretty upset because I knew for a fact that the book was brand new - I had never even opened it! I told them to send it back to me, and after a week or so, I finally received it.
But when I opened the package, I was shocked to find that it wasn't even the same book I had sent them! It was a completely different book, and to make matters worse, it was a complimentary copy that wasn't even for sale. I was so frustrated that I had to call them back and go through the whole process again. Now I have to send the wrong book back in order to get the right one.
Honestly, I'm just so done with this company. All I wanted was to sell my textbooks and get some money back, but instead, I've wasted so much time and energy dealing with their mistakes. It's really frustrating, and I don't think I'll be using Chegg again in the future.
Chegg Review: Frustrating Experience with Late Book Delivery and Poor Customer Service
I've been using Chegg for a while now to get all my school stuff, but this semester has been a real pain. I ordered my books two weeks ago and I still haven't received them. I'm already behind on my assignments because I was counting on those books to get my work done. It's not my fault that I don't have my homework ready, but my professors won't believe me. They think I'm just making excuses.
I've contacted Chegg three times now, and they keep telling me that they can't cancel my order. They finally found my books, but they won't be delivered for another week. That's a whole month of waiting for textbooks! And they can't even guarantee that I'll get them. If I do get them, I'll have to waste my time and money printing out labels to return them. And then I'll have to go to the nearest shipping place to send them back.
I'm so frustrated right now. I don't have time for this. I need my books to get my work done. I can't believe I have to reorder from Amazon now. I should have just gone with them in the first place.
So, if you're thinking about using Chegg, I wouldn't recommend it. Unless you're ordering months in advance, don't waste your money and time. You'll just end up like me, behind on your work and frustrated with the whole process.
Disastrous Experience with Chegg: Canceled Orders, Wrong Editions, False Advertising, and Inappropriate Promotions
Chegg is a website that offers textbooks and other educational materials to students. We recently made an order with them and it was a complete disaster. We had multiple issues that made us regret ever using their service.
Firstly, they canceled one of our books before we even received it. They claimed it was an "early return" but couldn't explain why it was canceled. They refunded us and said we could re-order, but the price had gone up by $100. It took us 45 minutes on the phone to sort it out and get the book re-ordered at the original price. However, we had to wait another three days for it to arrive.
Secondly, when we finally received our order, we found that we had been sent the teacher's edition instead of the student edition. This was a huge problem as the teacher's edition had different content and was not suitable for our needs.
Thirdly, we were disappointed to find that the book we ordered was falsely advertised. The title of the book said that Inquizitive, etc. was included, but it was not. There was fine print that said these items were not guaranteed, even though they were clearly stated as included. We had to pay again to get the other things we needed so that our child could complete their assignments. Chegg considers these things as supplemental options, but our instructor said they were required.
Lastly, every box we received contained a can of Red Bull "energy" drink. This was a personal preference issue, but we felt it was inappropriate to be pushing dangerous products to students. People are dying from these drinks and we don't think it's right to promote them in any way.
To their credit, Chegg did offer us discounts of up to 80% and refunds for our troubles. However, the time, hassle, frustration, and disappointment we experienced were not worth it. We will not be using Chegg again and would not recommend them to anyone.
Mixed Experience with Chegg: Lack of Communication and Fraudulent Behavior
I've been using Chegg for a couple of years now and I have to say, it's been a bit of a mixed experience. While I've found the service to be helpful in answering some of my questions, I've also had a few issues with my account being locked and not receiving responses to some of my inquiries. Communication with Chegg representatives has been lacking at times, which has been frustrating.
Despite these issues, I continued to use the service until I graduated in December 2017. However, when I was balancing my checkbook recently, I noticed that Chegg had been withdrawing money from my debit account for an additional 14 months after I canceled my subscription. I was shocked and immediately called Chegg to request a refund. The representative I spoke with confirmed that my account had not been in use for 14 months, but still refused to issue me a full refund.
I was extremely disappointed and frustrated by this experience, as I ended up losing $210 due to Chegg's mistake. When I spoke with supervisors at Chegg, they even asked me to provide a recorded conversation of me canceling my subscription. I was taken aback by this request, as I don't have a recorded line on my personal phone. It's not something that I ever thought I would need to fight off fraudulent behavior.
When I asked the representative why Chegg's representatives tell me that I will be on a recorded line when I call, even though there's no recorded line, she didn't have an answer for me. This lack of transparency and accountability is unacceptable, and I will not be using Chegg again in the future.
I'm actually going to grad school for Mathematics in August 2019, and I will be encouraging all of my colleagues to cancel their subscriptions to Chegg immediately. It's just not worth the risk of dealing with fraudulent behavior. I would recommend finding another program that is more reliable and trustworthy.
Chegg Review: Terrible Customer Service and No Care for Students' Needs
Chegg is a company that is only interested in making money and does not care about the students who use their services. Their customer service is terrible and they do not follow up with their customers. I made a mistake and accidentally sent back a book that was not rented from Chegg. It has been almost a year and they have not been able to find my $200 book. They have the book in stock but they will not send me one of their copies or give me any sort of credit to purchase a different book. I am a student putting myself through law school and this is a lot of money for me.
When I first tried to find a solution to my problem, I searched their website but the answer was behind their paywall. They want you to pay their monthly fee in order to see the answer to a customer service question. This is ridiculous and shows that they do not care about their customers. I have found out that this has happened to a lot of students and they have not received any follow up, credit, or their book back.
I am sure that Chegg is now renting out my personal book and making a profit on it. The best they can offer me is a 10% coupon on my next purchase. This is not acceptable and shows that they do not care about their customers. I would not recommend using Chegg to anyone. They are only interested in making money and do not care about the students who use their services.
Chegg Review: Overcrowded with Tutors, Lack of Control, and Spoiled Students
I have been a tutor on Chegg for some time now, and I must say, it's not the best experience. The platform is overcrowded with tutors, and there aren't enough students to go around. Most of the students who do come on the platform are only interested in getting free answers to their questions. They spam tutors with questions, hoping to get a response without paying a dime.
One of the biggest issues with Chegg is the lack of control students have over open written lessons. These lessons can be quite expensive, and there is no guarantee that the tutor will be able to help you. What's worse, there is no customer or employee support to help you if you have any issues with the service.
The only good thing about Chegg is the tutor alerts that notify you when a student needs help urgently. However, these alerts are often misleading. They claim that a student needs help ASAP, but when you check, it turns out to be a robot program pretending to be a student. The program directs you to a question that you can't answer, and there is no option to click and answer the question. This is just a ploy to get tutors back on the website during times of low traffic.
Another issue with Chegg is the lack of regulation. Many students on the platform are spoiled brats who expect tutors to give them the answers to their homework assignments. They then copy the answers and submit them as their own. This is a major problem, and it seems like 90% of the students on the platform engage in this behavior.
If you're a tutor, I would advise you to stay away from Chegg. It's just not worth your time. If you're a student who must use the platform, be extremely careful. Watch your bill because they will charge you for everything, and the tutors have no regulation. Customer service is like an insurance company. They will not give you your money back and are not paid to help you.
Chegg's Lack of Security Measures: A Concerning Issue for Users
So, I recently logged into Chegg after a long time and was prompted to reset my password. I changed it, but to my surprise, there was no security check or code required to do so. This means that anyone with access to my email address could change my password and access my payment details. It's scary to think that Chegg doesn't have any security measures in place to prevent this from happening.
What's even more concerning is that there is no option to cancel your account on the website. The only way to change your email address is to contact customer support. This seems like a deliberate attempt to make it difficult for users to protect their information and cancel their accounts.
I must admit that I was initially very suspicious of Chegg and thought that it was an elaborate scam. However, I have since realized that the situation is not as scandalous as I first thought. Nonetheless, it's still very unsafe to add payment details to Chegg and buy anything from them. If someone gains access to your email account, they could easily change your password and access your payment details.
In conclusion, I would advise anyone using Chegg to be very careful and not add any payment details to their account. It's always better to be safe than sorry, and in this case, it's better to err on the side of caution.
Horrible customer service
The customer service is so bad that I have been waiting for the past 2 hours trying to login to my account. Every 15 minutes I am being told that someone else will be taking over my problem. To login I am being asked to enter a one time code that has been sent to my email and that the code will expire within 5 minutes. However, every time I request a new code to be sent (have requested more than 10 times), the email that I get containing the code is sent to me after 5 minutes, making the code useless. After some time, the emails stopped coming altogether. I have been chatting with different members of their team on Messenger and WhatsApp, as well their interactive bot for more than 2 hours (nearing 3). Now after telling me that I should change my email, they tell me that there is no subscription under my name. I sent them a photo showing the receipt. Due to so many issues and such a poor customer service, I am cancelling my subscription.
Not recognised membership
Hello,
My name is Liliana
I live in UK and recently noticed some transactions from you that I do not recognise. I never ordered your service or had a membership but you are being billing me since 2021.
I would like this to be investigated in a proper manner please, and I request the full refund of the amounts taken.
I already chatted with someone who tried everything to identify me in your system and it wasn't possible. One thing is sure: you have my bank details!
My financial institution is saying that is too late for a dispute, so I appreciate you to solve this.
I appreciate your response please.
Best regards
Desired outcome: Refund. I've been billed since 2021
Charging my bank acct
I had cancelled my subscription because this service was no good. I received an email confirming my account had been cancelled and four days later they charged my bank account. They withdrew money from my bank account after I had already cancelled. I contacted them and even though they could see that I cancelled and not used the service they wouldn't refund my money. Sent use chegg, they are frauds and will steal your money. Cancel your cc because they will continue to charge you.
Desired outcome: I'd like my money refunded and foe them to delete all my information from their database.
Double charging for over 2 years
You have double charged my credit card for over 2 years. I am billed on the 3rd of every month $21.80 and on the 15th of every month $21.80. I have went round and round with you guys on this and I WANT MY MONEY REFUNDED! My credit card company was able to refund me for 4 of those months but said Chegg is responsible for refunding the remaining balance. Which is $392.40.
Charges Started April 15, 2021 and So far the last month charge was January 15, 2023.
Desired outcome: I want refunded the money for the double billing/fraudulant charges!
Complaint
Chegg tempts students into cheating by providing answers to problems from their textbooks that they can copy paste into their homework and tests. While getting answers from Chegg for your homework may not be that nefarious, Chegg in general cannot be accessed while running a VPN, making privacy protection grossly compromised. If a school administration requests records from Chegg on student IP's and names, in general, Chegg will provide that information to the school. This is a scandalous practice, as Chegg is the one that provides the temptation for students to cheat in the first place! Many students don't find out until they're deep in danger. Because of Cheeg's practices, they may end up getting expelled or failing classes, and ruining their GPAs because of Chegg. Chegg is like a dope dealer luring scared and vulnerable kids into something that seems at first like a lifesaver.
Furthermore, like many websites Chegg makes it appear that you would pay month to month when in actuality, it is a subscription. I was not planning on renewing my Chegg subscription, but it happened automatically and I was very angry about that to be fair the across-the-board on a lot of Internet sites it's a horrible practice, and it really needs to be stopped.
Desired outcome: 1. Chegg guarantees anonymity and does not divulge IP activity to school admins. Conversely, Chegg does not allow answers to homework or exams.2. Chegg warns students that using their services will affect their Turnitin results.
eReader app
The last time I had used Chegg for ebook rentals, I had access to the eReader app, which was incredibly easy to use and very accessible on my phone and iPad. This year, I decided to rent ebooks once again under the impression that the eReader would still be available (it is still on the app store, and previous textbooks still popped up on the app).
However, once class started and I needed to start reading the material, I was not able to access any textbooks through the eReader app. After some research reaching out for help, I was told that the app is basically useless and the only way to access textbooks is through a web browser. I tried using the browser, but found it was nowhere near as easy to use as the app. I asked if a refund would be possible due to the lack of transparency, inconvenience, etc.
While the two representatives I spoke two were patient, I was told that Chegg policy would not allow them to provide any refunds. Basically, I'll just have to struggle through this semester's readings. In addition, purchased ebooks cannot be transferred to kindle or any other app, so you can only read it on the Chegg website.
Desired outcome: Please refund.
