We prepaid a visit to this hotel on an advance purchase. Upon arriving at the hotel the clerk informed us that our reservations were not correct. We went through this numerous times with her that this was an advance purchase. We thought we had it worked out till we returned home from our trip. We found out that switched our reservations and that she added...

I still don't understand what happen but I was told because my address an email didn't match my point balance had been reversed and all my previous stay credits were void? My head is still spinning I hate I called for this promotion. I have been a choice member for over 5 years and never had such mess. I am done but not with sharing this experience! Bad! violation of infection control, safety, and security
My husband, Anthony Noonan checked into your Mars, PA (cranberry township) Comfort Inn (confirmation # [protected]) on the evening of August 22-2015 after traveling from Chicago, IL. He entered the room and it was not prepped (dirty towels, TV left on, garbage everywhere). He went back down to your check in person who issued him a new room. My family was later greeted by a family entering their room with a card key. The manager was called to clear up the double booking of the room. The Manager of your Inn exclaimed rudely "they" did not have any confirmation in the computer that he was checked-into a room.
I telephoned to follow up on the various violations your hotel had made to day manager Joanne. She was extremely rude, condescending, and unprofessional. She told me to call back tomorrow to talk to her GM (whatever that means), and hung up.
Is this the way a mangers operate your Inns?
1. Failing cleanliness, by checking people into a non prepped room
2. Failing to provide safety, by allowing another family access to the room of sleeping guests
3. Failing professionalism of hotel management (night and day staff), by confronting two families that they are the cause of the violations of a clean and safe environment and not the incompetence of their management skills of the front desk and environmental services.
4. Failing professionalism of hotel management to handle consumer complaint; by confronting, correcting, unprofessionally handling, then passing on their responsibility to another GM. This was the general conduct of your staff at this Comfort Inn.
This encounter was a violation of a customer's basic expectations and rights to a clean, safe, and secure room. In addition, a violation of a manager basic job duties to manager their Inn's staff, customer service, and communication skills. It is our hope the you really appreciate our input! As we did try to handle this matter internally at your franchise located in Mars, PA, management staff, but had no success. Further, it is our hope that you correct this miss managed Inn so that your reputation is not scared.
For further details of this encounter of August 22-2015 at your Comfort Inn, Mars, PA please contact Tony Noonan at [protected].
Oh please.
room condition
We stayed at the Ocono Lodge in Lacrosse, WI.
September 16 & 17th. The beds had tears in the sheets, no toilet paper holder. The room smelled.
Our bathroom was not cleaned for the second day. I had to ask for towels at 4:00 when we got back to the room.
We were put in a room near the back door. We did not know this was an area to take dogs out and to smoke. Several young people congregated outside the door to smoke and would not move to let us in or out. I would think they would put us in an room away from people who had dogs.
We will never stay at the Econo Lodge again.
multiple issues
My family and I had the displeasure of staying at the Econolodge in Waukegan, Illinois from July 9, 2015-July 12th, 2015. The facility was dark and very dirty. Our rooms smelled like stale smoke. Our screens were so bent we had no choice but to close the windows or be eaten by mosquitos and other bugs. Our carpets were tacky from spills and your feet were black if you walked on the carpet. Our rug was not secured under baseboards. The bathroom tiles were cracked and crumbling and our bathtub was full of dirt. Our housekeeper handed me 1 towel and ran the vacuum in a straight line one time and walked out. I asked if she was going to clean and said she was done. She never changed the sheets or removed the old towels. The floors in the building sag when you walk and I turned my ankle causing me to fall on the floor. We had to report multiple times that the wireless internet service was not working and we even had the lovely treat of dog poop in the hall from someone who kept a pet in their room. That was there for 5 hours after I reported it 3 times to both cleaning staff and the reception area. This building is in desperate need of cleaning and renovation. The secure entry ways were not working so anyone could walk in without scanning their card. The flip latch on our door was broken and my daughter got stuck in the bathroom twice because the lock would not disengage. We tried to find another hotel in the area however due to it being graduation for the Navy, which is why I was in town as well, there were none to be found. I had 2 different rooms reserved (316 and 109) and both rooms were very poor. To top everything off I bought a box of candy while I was on base and had stored it in my refrigerator. To my amazement housekeeping "cleaned" my fridge and the only thing they took was the candy. They did not touch the other goods I had stored or the beverages. I sincerely hope Econolodge will visit this hotel and see how poorly maintained the hotel truly is.
hotel not up to choice privileges standards
The room was Dirty, out dated by years, no room service, toilet was loose and about falling off the wall, hotel grounds were littered with trash everywhere, ralings on steps to upper levels have rusted rotted spots and steel on some steps had rusted sharp edges. I stay at lots of Choice Hotels and this one is deffinately not up to Choice standards i believe, for what i've stayed at in the past. Over all BAD shape, a BAD Stay.
injury
I stay at this hotel on the 4th of July weekend. Check in July 3rd check out July 5th. On Saturday my daughter banged her leg on the side of the bed. Then the next day of banged my ankle in the same bed. It hurt so bad, got a little bruised and cut my skin a little. I looked at bed, lifted up bed skirt and there was a piece of metal sticking about an inch away from bed. Then i realized that was the same thing my daughter hit. When I went to check out I told the clerk what happened. She said she would let the manager know and he would call me the next day and may give a discount for stay. At the time I wasn't asked if I was ok or if I needed anything. I did not receive a call, I waited 4 days and still no call. So I decided to call. The manger knew what happened because he apologized my ankle getting hurt, before I could explain. (So that shows poor judgement knowing there was an accident in your hotel and you don't call to check on guest) and offered to give me a 20% discount. Which feels like nothing, if I hadn't call would have they given me anything. They didn't care that a guest got hurt in their hotel, from a hazard that should have been prevented. I would like to see a full refund of hotel stay. That would seem like a fair deal.
So you got hurt so a free room will make it ok?
unfair policy / website mistake
Booked online, got email, was wrong location! Called within 10 minutes of booking and choice hotels and econo lodge groton unwilling to help in any way! Plus, econo lodge didn't speak english and said doesn't understand, can't help! Least to stay vacation ruined!

My wife and I booked a room for two nights. The first night we had a room with an air conditioner that was not working properly and so loud we could not talk to each other without yelling and we could not hear the T.V. unless it was on very loud. we asked for a room change the next day so we would be able to sleep that night and was allowed to change room...

Read full review of Choice Hotels and 3 commentspoints for stays not credited
Choice Privileges is a SCAM. I travel and stay at Comfort Inns throughout IL, IN, OH, PA, NJ, NY and MD so my issue is not with a single state, city or establishment. They do not credit me points for my stays and the resolution department with Choice Hotels tells me I was a no show or booked through Creative Lodging Solutions and because they get the discounted rate ($9 off per night) you do not get points for that stay. I stay 2 different stays and never get a free night ! Either way when I complain about missing stays/points I go back into my account and find out that previously credited stays are now missing so I have the supply documentation to get them to add again. There is so much going back and forth for a handful of stays that it is like a full time job and really just need to start staying at a competent place. I will be turning in my points for a $50 card (takes about 19 nights at $80/night to reach the 15, 000 points that makes you eligible for a $50 gift card) and not sure if I do turn in points that I will even receive card. I WILL NEVER STAY AT A CHOICE PROPERTY AGAIN and I will make sure that everyone I know and even everyone I don't know, not to stay at Choice Hotel properties either. Pay an extra $20 a night and get a competent staff and points program that you don't have to constantly micro-manage.
I am confused... My Choice points are only earned if I book the rooms myself. I have known this from the start. They have never told me any different. I find it hard to believe that they ever told you different.
dangerous / dirty rooms
My family stayed in this hotel a few days ago and I can truly say it was the worst experience! First off there were cockroaches crawling up from the sink and bathtub drains, gross. But even worse there was a needle hidden in between the toilet seat cover! Thankfully it was noticed and no harm was done to myself of my family! But who knows what could have...

Recently a junior manage by the name of Ashley Cooper had befriended my common law wife who also works there as a front desk clerk. Ashley is under 24 and my wife is 48.
Ashley had asked my wife if she could move in with us in our trailer in sunset and I had said no as she has two dogs and two cats.and I was healing up from a surgery and also thought her to be arrogant and rude.
On one occasion when I was deliverying supper to my wife her and my wife had made the comment that I looked like their senior manager when wearing my glasses and my wife jokenly said that if she was to get into bed with either of us in the dark it would be difficult to tell who was who and ashley ignorantly spoke up and said she wouldn, t be able to tell who was straight abd who was the homo as their senior manage is gay and they both got a big laugh from that which I was extremely offended and thought them both very unprofessional.
Over a short period they continued the comparison at in a later time I told lisa my wife to stop it that I did not like her doing that I found it degrading to me and rude to their manager.
as few days past I found lisa to be buying ashleys cigarettes also her meals and I told her we barely can afford to buy our own stuff so stopp buying for that arrogant girl.
Now comes the kicker, lisa and I had been argueing about our pets having destroyed our home and so we got rid of them and lisa left our home because of that ore so I thought at the time and was gone 4 days when I was stopped by police and was arrested on allegations of assult, choking, threats, mischief, unlawful confinement and assault with a weapon all alledged by lisa. at the time julie our mutual friend was with me working on my dumptruck in front of the econolodge and I had my pickup and tools their when the arrest took place.
julie took my pickup back to lisa and my home where she witnessed lisa getting out of a police car, no marks, walking perfectly and all in her face attitude as well as ashley and at which time the two women were bragging about having me arrested and ashley and lisa was making plans to move in together into my and lisa, s trailer. don, t it seem that the girls had it preplanned and made false allegations as way of removing me and making way for ashley and her two dogs and her two cats to move in.
I had been present once before when I heard ashley say to lisa to get rid of that sick old man and I, ll move in with you.
I think ashley has forced a breakup of my and lisa relationship by coorcing lisa into making allegations against me and has also put econo lodge in a conflict of interest that I am pursueing and will be charging econo lodge if my lawyer says its doable and also personal lawsuits against both women.
I know couples split every day but I for the life of me don, t see why they needed to destroy me in the process.
I hope they both are fired and get charged themselves for falsely accusing me
will their manager should not have allowed them to be and include himself to overly friendly and a better manner of professionalism and distance maintained between the employee to boss structure and feel also that corporate owes me for my loss and expenses as it is their employeees who have caused me such hearship
MY POINT IS, WHEN HAS IT BECOME PROPER AND PROFESSIONAL FOR A PERSON OF AUTHORITY TO USE AN EMPLOYEES MISFORTUNE OR RESOURCES TO ENHANCE THEIR OWN PERSONAL GAIN OR TO RIDICULE OR MAKE FUN OF THEIR OWN MANAGER OR SPOUSE IN SUCH A MANNER THAT IS DEGRADING TO EITHER THE MANAGER OR SPOUSE.
SEEMS LIKE A CONFLICT OF INTEREST AND POOR TRAINING TO THE POINT OF BOTH REPRESENTING THEIR COMPANY IN AN UNPROFESSIONAL MANNER. SHOULD THIS MAKE IT SEEM LIKE COUNSELING IS NEEDED THEN I WOULD GLADLY ACCEPT SUCH AN OFFER.
would not let me get my money back
I got the room around 7:00pm and paid cash. I only got the room because i had nowhere else to go. I went in my room and left everything the same way it was i just got on my cell phone to try and find somewhere else to stay. I got in touch with someone so when i tried to get my money back; which was 46.00 he said he would give me the money back he just wanted to check the room first so we walked to the room and he tracked snow in the room and said it was me then said the room was used just because i sat on top of the sheets on the bed then he tried to say that i was there for 2 to 3 hrs that's why he would not give me my money back! I really need my money back because i'm struggling right now that's why i decided to leave the hotel in the first place. He was really rude to me walked away from me and didn't say another word to me then accused me of stealing his key when he would not take it back because i already paid for the room. If you could please contact me back so i can get my money back i would really appreciate it! [protected]@gmail.com

We checked into our room on May 15, 2015 in Woodstock, Virginia. This is the second Econo Lodge that we have stayed in, in our many years of staying in motels/ hotels. I hope that CHOICE HOTELS remove Econo Lodge locations from their grouping of rooms to let. They are the worst ever rooms. They stink of a foul odor right from the front desk to the room. Although they try to make a room clean, there is nothing like a foul smelling room. And upon leaving said foul smelling room, one takes the nasty foul smell with them. There was no place to put our luggage, the vanity was very small, there was no coffee set up in the room and the "free" breakfast was poor. Econo Lodge should pay customers to stay in their rooms. The pictures and description of their rooms look and sound nice, but upon getting into the room, it is a great let down. I wonder where they take their pictures from. Maybe other Hotel/Motel chains. Therefore, I will NEVER book with Econo Lodge again. I will sleep in my car before spending a night in one of your rooms. I gave you a fair chance.
What you should have asked for was to be charged for a "day room" with it's reduced rate. That way you would/could have perhaps received some money back. But, giving you a break or refund is solely up to the motel's discretion. You did rent the room and use it, albeit for just a little time. However, that's the way it is.
double billing for room
Booked a two night stay through Hotels One, prepaid, at Econolodge Inn in Overland Park, Kansas. At check in the manager swiped my debit card, which I thought was routine. The next morning I found my card had been charged $94 for the room. I asked the night manager about this, since the room was prepaid; he was evasive, and told me I had booked through Expedia and I would have to talk to them. I work nights, so the next morning I asked a different night manager about the double charge. She told me they do that for internet reservations, and the money would be refunded. The third day, when I was checking out I saw the original manager and asked him about the charge. It was difficult to understand him because of his Pakistani accent, but essentially he said it was because they had not received payment from Hotels One yet, but my money would be promptly refunded. Three weeks and two emails later I had still had not received a reply or a refund. I emailed Hotels One asking them for a receipt I could present to the motel manager. They immediately replied, apologizing for the problem, and refunding me all the money I had paid them. I was absolutely astounded! I never expected this level of service, especially from an internet site. Hotels One get an "A" rating from me, and Econolodge gets an "F" for failing to advise me on check in of the charge, and failing to follow up. The room was excellent, but I would not recommend the motel.
Hotels One immediately emailed me, and refunded my advance payment. How this problem happened I'm not sure, but the company was outstanding with their follow-up service. Econolodge didn't seem to care at all; I won't forget that.
If Hotels One refunded you money then I would think they realized the mistake was at there end.
rewards program misleading
Choice hotels had a highly advertised promotion featuring stay 2 nights and get 1 free. I was already a member, and had a few points saved up from 3 separate stays at the same hotel (a Comfort Inn in Marietta, OH). I had mixed feelings about staying at this hotel again because of their rapid decline in cleanliness and lack of repair, but they are right off I-77 directly half-way on a trip that I make several times a year. Because of this promotion, I decided to stay here 2 more times (on the trip going and coming back). One would think the points earned staying at the same hotel every time, and booking for the promotion offering a free night would apply to that same hotel--but, NO. They work on the points system, and not only did this promotion (plus my 3 previous stays) not provide me with enough points to book a night free at this hotel, it didn't provide me with enough points to get a night at ANY of their hotels anywhere within 50 miles of this area or Charleston, WV along a very busy interstate! It is simply misleading and I am VERY disappointed.

not clean room
Found a room at this EconoLodge three days after the horrendous tornado on May 20, 2013 through AARP website. Only room we could find to book for three days since the relatives we were visiting in Moore OKLA. for an anniversary celebration were displaced after the tornado ripped their neighborhood apart..
When arrived, did not give AARP discount. Said the discount they give is all there is.
Room had patches of paint on walls, no nonskid on tub, patches in concrete on the outside walks, and bedskirt was very wrinkled, like it had just been taken out of box. Towels were paper thin less than one would find at Motel 6.
Two piles of dog poop were near our door the next am. I reported it and they said they would take care of it. Second day when we arrived back at room, it had not been cleaned. Called desk at 11:00 pm. was told no one in charge was there. He had gone on vacation for the weekend. No housekeeping people were there. Said all they could do was send up new sheets and we could change the bed. I said, then I don't think I should have to pay. ten minutes later a woman appeard at the door. W hen we opened the door, she walked in uninvited carrying the sheets and towels. My husband took the towels to the bathroom. She proceeded to change the bed stating I must keep in mind it was unintentional the room wasn't cleaned. They were booked and very busy. People make mistakes. I stated it seemed more people shold have been called to work then. She said she was in charge and she didn't like how I talked to her girl. I stated I was not impolite, merely asked why our room wasn't cleaned, and if I had to change the bed, I should not pay for the room. I stated the point was it wasn't cleaned. She argued with me and then said, if I didn't like it to just leave. When I asked where she thought we would go, she said she could call the police and have us kicked out. I asked if Police kick out people from hotels because we are unhappy the room wasn't cleaned. My husband came in the room and she told him to calm down his woman. HE told her she needed to calm down and stop being so rude. That I wasn't loud like her. I asked her to just leave. She had taken off the pillowcases, and when she kept ranting, I told her again to leave. She threw down the pillowcases, and said Fine, I was going to change the bed for you, but I am not now. She threw down the clean sheets and left. Sheleft the dirty towels outside by the door, and they were still there the next morning at 10:00am. No new amenities were delivered. A few minutes later she called and stated she had talked to housekeeping and they siad my husband had told the housekeeper when she came to clean up the poop to not clean the room all day. He talked with her and she told him the same. He said we were told no one was in charge and no housekeeping was there. How did she get that information. No notice was put on door, and he did not say that to the housekeeper. She yelled int eh phone, "you need to calm down your woman." He said she isn't even on the phone. She hung up on him. We checked out, not staying the third night we had reseverd. We made sure we would not be charged. Charges for the third night were on our credit card. When I called about it, thewoman stated we would have to deal with the manager, and they only saw two nights at their end. Later the third night was removed from our credit card. She stated they woud report the incident with the room not being cleaned and the rude woman to the manager, and he would have to deal with it. He sent an email and stated the housekeeper was told not to clean the room. He said he dealt with the complaint. We have asked from the onset to refund the charges for the second night since we did not have a clean room, and were frightened with the threats and rough talking from the low class woman who barged in our room.
I am wrting AARP to ask for the same. AARP should not recommend this hotel to anyone, and put them through what we went through. If you don'ttake our word for the conditions, I invite you to do an undercover boss visit and see for yourself. Based on the many complaints about EconoLodge, I think AARP should not include them in your recommendations any longer. We never dreamed it would be this bad with our previous times staying at EconoLodge. Rudy Araza. [protected]@msn.com
