Climate Design Systems of Methuen, MA visited my home in
December, 2009 to perform a winter maintenance service of my
home heating system at a cost of $158 to us. As part of that visit,
we were also looking into subscribing to regular maintenance visits
by this company.Needless to say, now we're not.
Part of their service call was to clean and adjust blower components.
Blower components consist of what? A fan, a motor, and a capacitor.
Opening the blower component two days after their visit to check on a
noisy startup condition (that they had no answer for other than "we'll
clean your blower wheel for an extra $79" but it could make it worse, or if the motor is bad, we'll replace it for $877" -- although the part is
only $125) revealed that NONE of the blower motor components had even SEEN a vacuum, let alone be cleaned by one.
Needless to say, I stopped credit card payment, took some REAL nice pictures of my dirty components, and will NEVER go back to those THIEVES! Looking forward to meeting them in court!
HA! I KNEW I wasn't alone! Climate Design/Merrimack Valley Sheet Metal of Methuen, MA are thieves and liers. STAY AWAY!
Mike, Glad to see you have enough time sitting around visiting this group although it’s understandable that when you have Merrimack Valley Climate Design technicians out there charging for work not performed or their lying service managers posting outright lies about conversations that took place between the lying service manager (or technicians) and the ripped off customer, you probably don’t have many repeat calls coming in anyway, right? Too bad you don’t put more effort into addressing Merrimack Valley Climate Design technicians not doing their job, or actually working on realistic pricing for blower motor replacements rather than trying to price gouge customers for $877 to replace a motor that costs $125 and takes a novice under 2 hours to remove, pick up a new one, and install it. Man, at $425/hour, I should have gone into HVAC at Merrimack Valley Climate Design! But then again, unlike Merrimack Valley Climate Design, I couldn't actually walk into a customer’s home and charge them $158 for work not performed. If your company did one thing right Mike, it opened my eyes to thieving service personnel and now unfortunately gives me a greater mistrust of many who are most likely quite reputable.
Despite what the other poster said, just because a BBB complaint may not be resolved to the customer’s satisfaction, that doesn’t mean they have no other recourse -- they can always choose to have their credit card companies withhold payment, or even pursue it in small claims court if necessary, right? Interesting that ‘satisfied customer 11’ took the time to post about your recently acquired BBB rating – when you didn’t even have a rating at the time I filed my complaint – I wonder how many REAL customers would go to that effort keeping tabs on their favorite companies BBB ratings, or even reading a complaint blog considering they're so satisfied. So how much does it cost to be a BBB member? Money always talks, right?
As far as the missing motorized damper that you chose to address in this forum, your tech did tell you that a police report was filed and that the police did talk with him (which realistically is all I could do by law without having photographic or video evidence), right? And as far as any threats of bodily harm that you claim I made -- you, your tech and I all know that’s complete and utter BS right?! Geez, I would have thought you'd go to the police with alleged threats like those! Oh, by the way, I’m still waiting for the subpoena suing me for slander -- then again, just another lie, right Mike?
Have a great day!
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
My name is mike Chauvette I am the general manager of Climate Design Systems. This customer did call me and expressed his concern. I offered him his money back and to send my lead tech over there to reclean the furnace if needed. the customer then started to swear at me and threatened to run our trucks off the road if he sees one. At that point the offer was off the table, I would not send any of my techs to his home due to this guys anger problem. A couple of days later this customer sent an e-mail claiming that the service tech stole a motorized damper from his property. I addressed this with the tech he denied it and got very upset. This tech has been with me for 6 years and i never had a complaint about this kind of issue. To be noted there are several motorized dampers hanging around the shop and dumpster (replaced due to age) my tech could have just by asking me. When my tech confronted the customer about this he swore at him and hung up the phone. Just to let you know ther is a law suit pending from my tech to the customer for slander and a Laywer has been retained. You notice he does not bring this up in his complaint and if it were true you know he would have. it is my opinion that this guy has issues and should seek help.
Interesting! I am dealing with similar issues with Climate Design Systems aka Merrimack Valley Corp aka Merrimack Valley Sheet Metal Corp. Let's see what the BBB and Small Claims have to say.
Definition of Irony: Going to the court house to file small clams paperwork and seeing one of their trucks parked at the court house. Seems to me they are no stranger to this type of situation.
If you check the BBB rating on Climate Design you will find A+ rating and no complaints...
@ Satisfied Customer 11 - Umm, learn how the BBB ratings work. If a complaint is filed against a company and the company resolves the issue or makes an effort to resolve the issue (regardless if the resolution is sufficient or not) then the BBB does not view the complaint as valid and it will not affect the rating. Complainants also forfeit their right to small claims procedures. This is great protection for companies that perform poor service which is why companies like Climate Design join.
this is funny, these guys use the BBB to air there complaints. When the company address there concern, and these guys are found to be in the wrong, they complain about the proccess they started.. My 8 year old son does the same thing...LOL
Just by your responce it is easy for anyone to tell what kind of a Hot Head your are. Because I don't want to get you going any more than you are. i will drop this.
Good luck
Well her it is October 2015 and technician gave my lady friend a quote of $675 to have her noisy boiler draft inducer, ac unit contactors replaced and a 8 foot insulated ac flexible duct work. Technician was there for 1.5 hours and cost charged was $675.00. T
As an engineer I watch the worked being performed and could not believe how this company can price gouge and act like thieves.
We asked for a detailed parts and labor and the office said we quote as a job only.
So I looked up parts on line and found OEM draft inducer for $159.99 with free shipping.
AC contactor 2 pole, 30 amp, 240 VAC $18.00
8 inch diameter x 25 feet insulated flexible duct with metalized jacket $40.74
.
Total cost for parts $218.73
That works out to be $456.27 for labor. $304 per hour.
I am an educated Engineer and I have never ever made that hourly rate.
Talk about a company ripping folks off. Stay away, far away from this Company for they hurt their customers.
