Recieved a letter in the mail from a collection agency which is being run out of a house in Carson City NV. The letter states that I have charge that is in collections for somthing, someone called Pure Garcinia. I have attempted to call this shady operation but not to my surprise, there is no one who answers the phone. Would be curious to hear from others who may have recieved a similar letter as I will be pursuing legal action to it's fullest including making a trip to his little yellow house and dragging him out into the street bu his ears.

Got the same letter from Collect Pros saying in collections for US Weekly Magazine. Owe this amount $365.75 same as above other commenters. Just what I thought it is a scam. Will fax a copy to US Weekly tomorrow regarding this scam about their magazine.

We received a letter demanding $274.05 for the US Weekly collection - we had not even heard of the magazine at the time. Faxing the letter to US Weekly, posting the scam on Facebook, and turning the letter over to our local law enforcement.

Received a letter from them yesterday for US Weekly. Says I owe 299.25. Never ordered or received this magazine. I will be contacting US Weekly today. I've reported them to the consumer financial protection bureau help.consumerfinancial.gov this is also against the fair debt collection practice act. There are complaints with the better business bureau, the company never responded to. If you get a letter from them don't pay and make sure you file complaints against them. I will be sending a letter to my state attorney General today. And maybe our postmaster, couldn't this be mail fraud too?

I received a letter from COLLECT PROS stating I owe them $365.75 for a magazine order from February 2015 to now for US Weekly magazine. I have never ordered any magazine from anyone. When you call the phone number on the letter it does not give you an option to speak with a rep. This letter is very intimidating & intrusive. Not only that, I am getting phone calls left & right telling me that someone is trying to hack my computer & they ask me to get on my computer now. I told them I will call my technician & then they hang up. Tired of these crooks, someone needs to do something about this ASAP!

Received the same demand for payment for supposedly receiving US weekly Magazine and demands payment of $365.75 First of all I would never order a subscription of a magazine, wanted ever magazine I want to read I buy it at the supermarket. And they Demanded I remit the money to Collect Pros, P>O> Box 4133, Woburn, MA 0188.
And when you cannot even reach someone by phone you know it's a scam. Turning this letter over to our local law enforcement as well and the FTC and the FCC. Gail the shedder

Well COLLECT PROS has hit my mail box. They are trying to collect $274.06 for a subscription to US Weekly Magazine that I have NEVER subscribed to or had one magazine of this name in my mail box. I am a senior citizen on a fixed income & have no use for magazines of this kind. I subscribed to a magazine through Publishers Clearing House so I wonder if there is a connection as to how these people got my name & address. Who knows... I am headed to my BBB & my local news paper to alert them so it might stop some other person getting scammed.

I received a letter from Collect Pros saying I owed $365.75 for US Weekly Magazine. I haven't received that magazine in over 15 or 20 years, not since my son who is now 34 was in grade school. So I know this is a scam I don't know what they are trying to pull but I am not buying.

I also received a collection notice on May 11 in Las Cruces, NM. I called the 1-800 number to confirm what this was for.It was an automated system. It then asked me if my address on file began with certain numbers(it stated 3 numbers). i said " no", but it was the beginning address of a home I used to live at. The automated system then went on to say something to the effect that the call could not continue as they needed to speak to the original debtor (going off an old address). Now that I see others have received these in the last couple of days, I know it's a scam!

I have also received a collections notice from collect pros, stating that I owe $330.50 for us weekly magazine. I have never in my life subscribed to any magazine. I called and asked to speak with a manager or supervisor, I was told they couldn't do that. I wasn't able to get a name or phone number to contact someone higher up. I then asked if this was even a real company or if it was a scam and then I was hung up on. Please advise elderly family members about this. I will be contacting my local authorities about it tomorrow. I'm in buffalo ny.

THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH, Rp0205 for posting the toll free number to US Weekly. I am re-posting here, because that number was invaluable to me.I could not find it. Phone number- [protected]. I too received that pink letter from Collect Pros and flipped out. I've never even heard of the magazine. I called there and spoke to Victoria to tell her that when I tried submit a dispute online and pressed the key to submit, nothing happened. She asked me to try again and so I did. Nothing happened, so I called back w/ the intention of speaking to a supervisor. Much to my surprise Victoria answers again (!) and I tell her this web site is just garbage and I wish to speak to her manager. He is in a meeting. I want someone above her pay grade; she's it. I asked her if she's the only employee there to which she just responded that I should send a hard copy letter with my dispute. I told her that this is a scam and a poor one at that, and that I would be reporting them to the FBI and shame on her for doing this. I called the toll free US Wkly mag and spoke w/ a terrifc young lady who told me to ignore the letter, took my name, address, phone and told me no need to fax it. I WILL hold onto this letter and told her I hoped her firm would contact the FBI. Too bad these idiots exist and there ARE folks who WILL pay them unwittingly. I am so glad, I think (?) that I found this site and you all shared your experiences. God luck to all of you. I am sorry. thank you again.

Just got a letter for a US Weekly debt. Clearly a scam. Wouldn't even tell me who the original creditor supposedly was until I paid them. Spoke to a woman who hung up on me, and a man who claimed he could not transfer me to a superior. I am calling the Attorney General's Office.

Similar case happened just now... a pink letter from Collect Pros for US Weekly Magazine of $365.75 value. I thought my husband accidentally clicked something on the internet, but he said no, and not even familiar with the magazine's name. I'm glad I found this forum, and few other sites informing this exact scam. It's definitely a scam! Thanks guys for posting all of the above. Hope the authorities can produce a just action on them.

Received a letter for collection of an unpaid U S Weekly magazine subscription for $332.50. I never ordered any magazine and had been in the hospital during the time this was to have happened and was never at the address for the subscription . I went on line to their website and filed a dispute and after filing the dispute a message came on the screen that they wouldn't make any further attempt to collect this debt and would provide me with the name and address of the original creditor. Can't wait to see how that turns out.

I got a letter from the same address stating I owe $249.10 for a Entertainment Weekly Magazine. I have severe medical
Problems and my heart was racing. Tried to call but all automated calls for payment. How do they get away with this? I called the magazine company and I was told to ignore it. How can you do this when they state to dispute the charges on webste or in writing? The magazine didn't care. The website only takes payments. They run 2 addresses. One on the envelope and one for payment. This is a Federal crime across state lines. I am in NC. The magazine said they have received several calls about this.

The problem is the laws. They can scam but you have to prove damages. The amount they are asking for is not worth an Attorney to bother with so they just hope you pay up. All you can do is file a complaint with your Attorney General and they send them a letter. Case closed.

I have also received a letter from collect pros. It stated that I owed 332.50 for entertainment weekly magazine. I don't read magazines, have never purchased them, and have no interest in doing so. I called the number listed on the paper and I got to talk to a human, which could not tell me who the original account was from which is shady because all thit'd party debt collectors are able to tell you this. I told them not to send me anything else and that I was disputing it and reporting it. Just hope my identity was not comprised.

Just received mine and it was for Entertainment Weekly Magazine for 299.25. Never did free trial or order entertainment weekly in my life. I called and actually talked to an individual who told me what i already knew which was on my letter I received. She told me it was from last may and was probably a free trial that never got canceled and been charging me all year. Then click. Hung up on me! I knew it seemed fishy. Probably trying to get me to dispute it and call me back later and ask for social security number. Yeah I agree that this should be brought to an news outlet.
