We have had nothing but trouble since aaa switched from bank of america!
I cannot tell you how much we absolutely hate (!) the new aaa visa through comenity bank!
We are very likely going to cancel the card after having used it as our primary card for nearly 20 years. Their web site and customer service could not be any worse. When bank of america had the business we had no problems.
• half the time their website is down and not responding (happened again this morning and i’ve used three different browsers and my phone to try to login)!
• if we send a secure message it takes 2-3 days to respond.
• because my husband is the primary name on the account and I am an “authorized user” they refuse to give me customer service by phone or messaging. (boa never once refused any call of mine with questions or concerns.)
• we even sent a secure message to them from my husband stating that he wanted me authorized to manage the account since I do all of our finances and banking; we can’t open the website to see their response, even though we received an email saying it was there in the message center.
• the very first time was made a payment after the switch, they said the bank rejected the payment and charged us a $25 return fee! When I set up the payment information on the new site I directly copied and pasted our bank information into their form so there is no way I typed it wrong. We had to fight to get the $25 returned, re-entered the account information, and sent another payment that they again said bounced and again charged the $25 fee. Finally a supervisor took care of the request and we now have a paid in full balance with a $50 credit sitting on the account.
• we won’t even use the card at this point because it has been such a major pain in the rear!
• someone at aaa needs to know about this. It cannot possibly be just us. Our credit scores are well over 800 and I don’t want them damaged because these clowns can’t seem to manage a new major account.
Desired outcome: FIX YOUR BROKEN SYSTEM and send us a refund for the $50 credit on our account. ABSOLUTELY one of the worse companies I've dealt with in the last 40+ years.
You are going through the same thing with us. I have talked to someone 5 times. I received my card, but they never sent my husband's. I am going to look around for another gas card. Bank of America did us wrong by switching us over to Capital One/Comnity. Wish you luck. You are going to need it.
I just cancelled my AAA card. I never knew they were making the bank switch until my card just stopped working one day. And I still (mid November) have not received a new card. Customer service is a disaster. I'm done. I really only used it for gas/travel anyway. Good luck to the rest of you.
Totally agree with the comments above. Person at Customer Service was barely comprehensible despite my being on a land line. I was charged interest even though I paid the balance in full which reached them by the due date. Trying to dispute a charge (duplicate in my case) was impossible. I will not use the card in the future as it has been nothing but trouble since the switch from BofA.
Absolutely agree. It appears that AAA tried to get a new card service provider “on the cheap”. We have had numerous problems with Comenity (better yet” comedy”) Bank’s computer system and web site. The president of the bank recently sent out a letter apologizing for the service problems. We never had any problems when Bank of America was the issuer
I would not apply for this card unless and until Comenity Bank gets it’s systems working. For now at least, they are in over their heads
I concur with the above complaints, in general. Fingers crossed, I have not had any payment issues (yet). The Comenity Bank website is garbage, I could not activate my "AAA Travel Advantage Signature VISA" card using the Comenity website. I have also experienced multiple login issues.
Another issue, Quicken does not recognize this new Comenity Bank AAA VISA Card, so I cannot connect Quicken to Comenity Bank. I agree that the Comenity Bank VISA experience has been less than stellar.
I lay the blame on the fools at AAA that opted to switch their credit card service provider from Bank of America (BofA) to Comenity Bank. I am disappointed in AAA's business decision, in the case.
Comenity Bank is a nightmare in every aspect of the word. Customer service is non existant, the web sight doesn't work properly. Lots of apologies but no resolution to any of our issues. Attempted to pay off the existing balance FOUR times starting Oct 17th,2022.Credit the payment ,return the payment, charge a return check fee and keep repeating the action until finally on Dec7th the transaction was completed and balance was at zero. No one in the banking world had ever seen this before. Lastly just received a letter today telling me the account is closed due to security issues. DO NOT USE THIS BANK
The Comenity switchover has been a disaster. The website is totally dysfunctional. Despite the fact that all of my information (email address, home and mobile numbers) is located in my account, I get constant prompts to provide my phone number. If I log in on a new device, the option to obtain a confirmation email is grayed out, with a note saying there is no email associated with the account. I provided information by phone to add a family member as an authorized person to discuss the account with, yet when that person calls, Comenity says there is no information. I don’t like Bank of America for a number of reasons, but using their app when the card was with them was amazing. Crisp, clear, easy to use, not riddled with BASIC errors. So the issues with Comenity are magnified for people accustomed to going through Bank of America’s professional and streamlined, easy to use website and app. Comenity’s customer service is abysmal. I understand people work from home, but I can never hear the agent I’m speaking to. The “contact us” option on the website just doesn’t work. I have attempted to submit multiple questions/requests, only to have the site say “this service is not currently functional.” It hasn’t been functional since September when the switch from Bank of America to Comenity occurred. I pay by check as soon as I get my statement, and for 2 months straight I have had to pay 20$ to post a stop on my check. I called a few days ago about the latest “lost” check. I asked about the website and whether they have received complaints-the agent initially said no, but when I indicated complaints are all over the web, he admitted they have. He also said he couldn’t help with that, but also said there is no technical support number! Comenity Bank issues cards from over 130 businesses. They are a sloppy bank. If they can’t fix basic issues with their website over 4 months, how on earth are they trusted with money?
My experience has been similarly awful for all of the reasons mentioned by the original poster and commenters. I have attempted to cancel my card because of it. I say "attempted" because even though I contacted customer service and theoretically cancelled my account, today I received an e-mail stating my new statement is available. Hopefully, this is just a stray e-mail even though my account is canceled, but since I can't be sure, I'm going to have to waste my time calling customer service to make sure the account is not still active. This is by far the worst credit card experience I've ever had with any bank. AAA made a huge mistake switching to Comenity.
I've had nothing but problems with the new AAA Visa credit card, my goodness it's just impossible to get anything resolved...You can't even understand anything what these service providers are trying to say...plus they have no idea what you are trying to explain to them so that really makes things frustrating. When I do call to get any help they want to charge me $9.00 even to fix their mistake, I'm not putting up with this horrible service when there are so many other better credit cards available...I don't like these bottom third world countries having all my financial information. I lost over 16,000 points from my old AAA Visa card that this new bank cant find just by AAA switching over to this absolutety horrible Visa credit card! I will be looking for a new card!
People don't do it.I was with AAA when it was with Bank of America for 30 years never an issue.commenty bank is the worst I just hope triple A got a discount going with these clowns.when you call they answer the call in India and cant understand the idiot on the phone.they call you and harass you for a payment even when it's chump change.I sent a check for 102.00 paid in full and cut up my card card there loss its not like I can't get other credit cards.
Had this card for many many years with BoA, worked just fine. Got alerts, fraud protected, payments went through, website decent... This new bank AAA switched to, Comenity is hot garbage. Since I got this card I've been able to use it ONCE. The charge is still pending... though my credit has been reduced even if it IS on hold, doesn't want to work a second time. Website tells me card isn't locked however its acting like it is. No messages, No Fraud Alerts telling me it's locked. Yet can't make ANY purchases with it despite having plenty of credit. This is a useless card, ridiculous service. I wish AAA never switched from Bank of America and I don't even care for that bank!
What a disaster AAA had done to its loyal customers. That switch was the biggest mistake by AAA. I called AAA to complain about the switch which had caused me more trouble than I thought that AAA would do good to its customers. That new bank just want to charge you interest on uncollected amount even when you have an automatic payment set up. Worse than that this new bank wants to collect the entire amount due on your card at the date of payment not the amount shown on the statement which you had received and reviewed it for accuracy before a payment is deducted from your bank checking account.
I agree, Bank of America was ok, Comenity is horrible. I cannot even figure out what my balance is, it never seems to reflect my latest payments. I cannot get through to customer service on the phone, so I try the online messaging. They never respond. Looking for another card. Disappointed in AAA.
Comenity is the worst company on planet earth. The customer support for their US customers are not even required to speak English! I just spent 20 minutes on the phone with another Comenity representative who did not manage to express herself in English. I have no idea what she said. But she manages my money! So scary! Also, Comenity intentionally features a non-working "Unsubscribe" button on their marketing emails, which is illegal. I understand AAA's revenues suffered during the pandemic but this is completely unacceptable.
Switching to Comenity Bank from Bank of America is a joke. I agree with all of the above but I haven't dared to use the website yet.
I have received three credit cards with the wrong name on them. I just spoke to a "Customer Service" and spoke to a supervisor who assures me that the new card will have the correct name. I am not holding my breath. The thing is that the bill and other correspondence has the correct name on it. When I inquired as to what name is on the account, I was told that they couldn't tell me. I haven't activated a card since the switchover. Whatever AAA Travel saved in switching from Bank of America will prove negative as they continue to lose customers.
I agree with all the negative comments about AAA Visa cards from Comenity. I asked AAA why they switched from Bank of America and I was told AAA customers wanted a better awards program. Well, I hope all you (fake) customers are happy.

Similar experiences with Comenity Bank. Setting up the card after the transfer took hours on the phone. Recently, for no apparent reason the card was frozen. There was no email or text with a warning. I just tried to use it to buy coffee and was told that I was unable to use it. It was embarrassing. I checked their website and there was no message indicating that there was a problem with the card (ex. fraud alert). When I called customer service I was told that in order to use the card I must provide a laundry list of documents, similar to those needed to apply for a passport. This happened because during the transfer they were missing those documents. I don't think I was ever required to give up so much information to any credit card company before. I am on vacation and do not have access to the documents required. Fortunately, I have another card that I am able to use. However, what if this card was the only one I brought? Poor communication, poor customer service and it looks like if I don't reinstate this card I lose about $100.00 of rewards credit. Hmm, coincidence?

After today's experience with the customer service of Comenity AAA credit card, I have to agree with the above statements.
I provided a lead time of 10 calendar days via the United States Postal Service for my check to arrive to P O Box 650967 in Dallas, TX; due date was February 27. While waiting to be transferred to a live person (a representative) Comenity automated service informs me the check was processed March 6. I call today to have late fee and interest removed since I ALWAYS pay on time and even OVERPAY all the time. Well, the agent and supervisor were able to get the $25 late fee waived. There is nothing they could do to remove the interest charge because the interest was over the allowed amount. The magical number for interest charge is $4, if over that...they cannot remove the interest charge.
While on the phone with the supervisor I was transferred to, I repeatedly asked OVER and OVER and OVER is there was ANYONE IN THE COMPANY that could/can override/waive the interest charge? Response..."NO".
With that type of service ... my next step is to cancel the Comenity AAA VISA card and get a plain old regular Bank Of America card. I can care less about points, I rather have good service than X times cash back.
Comenity Bank has to be one of the worst credit card companies on the planet.I was with AAA bank America for 30 years as soon as comenity sent me a new AAA credit card the problems started.Good job AAA I cancelled your insurance when you jacked up my rates now I cancelled your credit card and got a new one from Bank of America.when you start losing customers maybe you'll realize money isn't everything.
Agree with above comments. 837 credit score evidently is not acceptable. They write they need more information but no one answers the phone to discuss. Capital one has a 3% cash back card on grocery store purchases. A better way to go.
I have had the same experience as others posting complaints. We are thinking of cancelling our AAA credit card after decades. The transition to Comenity was awful and we incurred fees because of negligence on Comenity's part (late statement, cards arrived late, unable to access website to make payments, etc.). The website is horrible especially if you want to make scheduled or auto-payments.
For what is it worth, I went to the AAA website and used an online contact form to voice my complaint directly.
My problems with Community Capital Bank a subsidiary of Bread Financial and their AAA Visa Card:
1. They rejected my payment and charged me a $30 fee even though I had plenty of money in the account and the account numbers were correct but they said that they are unable to find the account it seems to be that they don't take payments from savings accounts even though every other credit card company I know does. They have been so far unwilling to reverse the fee even for a first time issue that was their fault. Some people on the phone I talk to with them so that you could take payments from a savings account and others said that you could not.
2. They didn't bother to send me an email or a text that my payment didn't go through. Luckily I caught it quickly but I'm assuming they don't notify you in order to send you more fees.
3. If you read the fine print of the auto pay system that they have it says that the auto page is not take effect for one or two billing Cycles again they seem to be just intentionally trying to create the opportunity for more fees.
4. They no longer allow direct deposit of your rewards points into a bank account unless you do it over the phone which takes at least 10 minutes through a long complicated process.
5. They do not allow you to pay your statement balance with auto pay only the full amount or minimum payment again seems like they are trying to cause people to have more fees.
I am not a happy camper. I am happy that I found this complaint site and I am not the only one suffering. I have been a satisfied AAA BofA Visa card member since 1987. No real issues. Then Comenity comes along, constant and consistent ISSUES! I use my card primarily for auto payment and occasional small online purchases. I pay it off in full monthly. My reward for being a conscientious customer is that they suspend my automatic payments, causing my loosing services. I get notices that my account needs attention days after they stop payments. My statements have unwarranted late fees. Calling customer service, I get people whose accents are too strong for me to understand. Problems can be solved. The best way to do so with the Comenity problem is to cancel my account.
Three weeks of misery! But I finally cut the Comenity cord! I won’t go into all the gory detail, as it’s been well documented by nearly all here and my experience mirrors all of you. But:
Comenity claimed that I didn’t make a payment for two months. I only found out when I went to use my cell phone one morning and found it wasn’t in service. After researching and calling, Comenity confirmed that they refused to honor my auto payment. I received no word from them that there was a long standing issue with my account and they froze my card. Even though I had nearly full credit limit available.
I immediately changed all my auto payments to my wife’s credit card. All of them were coming due within the week.
Those two months that I reportedly didn’t pay, I did and had check numbers and dates mailed. I used the enclosed envelopes supplied with my statements. I was made to feel that I was a bad customer. Over two weeks I spoke with four representatives with no resolution. Except dropping of late fees that they imposed; only after I was highly agitated and took it out on one of the representatives. Who, by the way, waived them by himself without having to get permissions from others while transferring me from one to another and another.
I withdrew a certified check for my now two month plus old charges (I always pay in full monthly) and put it in their supplied envelope (I stopped by the post office and found my July statement before going to the bank). To date, 17 days, they’ve not received it. Comenity claims it’s not their fault that the post office didn’t deliver. Neither is it mine. But I incurred late fees and was made to feel like a bad customer.
This morning I put a stop payment on the certified check. I called Comenity and made a one time payment in full off of my checking account in person. When asked if there was anything more that they could do for me, I told them yes, cancel my account.
Last week I ordered a new credit card through my local credit union. I hope this is the end of my problem. I never had any problems with my quarter century long relationship with my AAA Bank of America Visa card.
No its not just you
AAA Comenity decided I should go paperless without letting me know! because of that I never got their statement and so had my credit rating wrecked because of these [censored]
I wrote to AAA about a month ago about this, never got a reply back
And yes I could never access their web site
Do not apply or use any credit card associated with AAA Visa Signature® credit card that has Comenity Bank. It is a fraudulent bank, it hides interest in your account and does not add it to your today's payment due each month, so the bank can keep on charging you more and more interest. Comenity Bank should be brought up on charges. Triple AAA made the biggest mistake by switching to this bank and assigning their name to a Visa Card. Now you have to wonder about Triple AAA judgment.
