Comenity Capital bank recently took over Dell Preferred Credit accounts. The account transfer process is a fiasco.
Comenity sent new account numbers via USPS but, for many of us, the mail never showed up before payments were due and the not yet receive account number is needed to sign up for online access.
To infuriate customers even further Comenity sent email stating:
"Your new account number was sent in the mail in late September. If you haven't received it yet, don't worry! Simply contact us at [protected] (TDD/TTY: [protected]), and we will assist you promptly."
That number is answered by an automated system that delights in telling you that it will not disclose account numbers over the phone. Working the automated system through several prompts to get a live person gets you the same result from the representative - no account number over the phone but we will USPS mail it to you again. How very helpful - not!
This was entirely the wrong way to handle the account transfer. The right way would be to create new Comenity accounts with the ols userid/password. Or use a secure online method to disclose the new account number. One can buy a house online and transfer all legal documents securely - why cannot Comenity pass account numbers online securely?
Desired outcome: Have Comenity disclose my "Dell Pay Credit Account Number" before my October 14, 2023 due date so I can register the online account and pay my bill on or before the due date.
Totally agree, this is a nightmare I have been calling, and nothing. Also, for some on the credit report shows dell credit as charge off..hurting the credit. They didn't even asked me if I wanted the transfer, i didn't received any disclosure agreements, fees or rules
It has been a total nightmare this whole transfer process over to comenity. I also did not get my account number in a timely manner so got charged a $29 late fee, which should be on dell and comenity for doing this to all of us without our approval. Also dell/comenity have my alienware balance at 29.99% highway robbery anyone? Ended up just submitting a pay off request tonight and will no longer carry a balance with them on the account, and only will keep the account open for my extended service contract.
My next computer will be an HP after this whole fiasco as well, Dell just lost my future business by transferring us to comenity.
