I have a small trucking company and I have accounts with Compass Bank, one for payroll and one for operating (daily expenses). I make deposits regularly and transfer funds between these accounts as needed. If you deposit monies in your account, before closing, to cover items that are sent out they will tally at the end of the day and take the debits before the credits and charge you the NSF charges even though you deposited the money the same day. Today, I just was charged $250.00 in NSF because I transfered funds to cover payroll checks on the 28th, 3 checks hit on the 28th, they charged me, then on the 29th they charged me 4 more charges because the checks were deposited on the 28th at different banks by my employees, did not clear my bank till 29th, I had ample monies to cover the checks, because I made that transfer on the 28th and it was posted on the 28th, they did not have to pay these items until they got to my bank on the 29th, however they charged my account NSF charges. Better yet, there was never any charge pending prior to that under their pending charges block on the online banking page. This is Robbery!
And something needs to be done about this.

hello i am still trying to get the bbva ceo's to check into a firing of a long time employee. it is at the granbury branch of compass bank on hwy 377. this employee was fired because she was doing her job. hey compass looks pretty bad. she told the truth about her bank manager. the tellers complained bitterly . nothing was done. becuase she told the truth they fired her. truth is important.

I agree with you totally...I am a customer on Compass now and hav had these SAME ISSUES with them over the last few months. I have almost 700.00 in NSF due to the Credit/Debits coming at the end of the day. I will put money in and nothing will be showing on the account and then all the sudden the debits show before the credits and I have racked up a ton of fees. They have on some occasions SPLIT the costs with me, however I called and even asked the teller on occasion about my deposits adn is there anything pending, etc. I was told no by the teller on Friday afternoon when I deposited CASH into the account, which it showed the deposits that same day on the online. Thinking I was in the clear, Moday afternoon, everything I had done on Friday Night was NSF because the deposit didn't "ACTUALLY HIT THE ACCOUNT" until Monday at Midnight since the deposit was made. I told the Mgr. that I asked the teller is there was anything pending such as checks coming through, etc adn he said that she does not have access to see things like that on her computers, so she thought all was good. There did not even show on the online banking. I was told that you can not trust the totals since they are noe always correct. NOT ALWAYS CORRECT? Isn;t this a bank, HELLO! I really feel that they STEEL your money with the fees that they charge, it is absurd!

why do the top people of ddva compass refuse to investigate the granbury branch of compass. one has been fired and 3 have left becuase of the poor management of the branch manager. if you want her name call me at [protected]

I feel your pain! My account was overdrawn by 3 cents with a pending deposit. The next day, I noticed that all was well with my online checking since everything displayed as paid. No overdrafts. The third day brought quite a surprise to notice those nasty red lines in my report. The manipulation was obvious. Between the second and third day, a bank employee decided to reorder the sequence of processing my items and to maximize NSF charges. 3 cents overdraft resulted in 3 NSF charges of $38 each!

If you want to do something to stop these monsters, I suggest:

1. Contact the Better Business Bureau in Phoenix (the BBVA Compass headquarters in the U.S.) and launch a complaint. The institution will be forced to respond and research your claim; and this will at least cost them the amount they have charged you, instead of the pennies that are required to actually process an overdraft. You see, the entire process is automated, virtual, and cost them far, far less than what they charge you.
2. Contact your Congressional representatives and tell them that these unfair laws must be changed. This is the only longterm solution to such unscrupulous practices. Point out the fact that a huge chunk of taxes have just been applied to bailout institutions which exercise these malicious practices.
3. If your employer, like mine, has a business partnership with Compass offering incentives for employee participation, express your dissatisfaction as a reason to discontinue that partnership. This will hit them where it hurts. If possible, state your problem to your Human Resources department and request that a partnership be established with a more customer-friendly bank.
4. Contact the media with your story. Remember, your issue resonates with millions of others around the country. This isn't a problem unique to you; and it certainly isn't reserved for people who can't balance a checkbook! You should relieve the burden of that myth from anyone who shoves that in your face.
5. Last, but certainly not least, move your business away from Compass as soon as possible and discourage friends and family from becoming victims.

Within twenty (20) business days we are launching www.CompassBankWarning.com -- with accompanying marketing to ensure sufficient online exposure. This is a concerted effort on behalf of a number of current BBVA Compass Bank verified personal and small business account holders dedicated to exposing the predatory and extortionist policies of Compass Bank (now BBVA Compass). Enough of us HAVE taken notice and refuse to quietly acquiesce to their unethical practices any longer.

Additionally, we have received input from current (verified) employees as well that confirms what any reasonable person already suspects regarding said practices. This will NOT be a "sucks" site in the traditional sense of being a magnet for everyone with an axe to grind, even when it is as the result of a wholly self-inflicted wound. We're seeking level-headed, professionally-minded people and small businesses to share their stories sans hyperbole.

Compass is not alone, and is only acting in accord with accepted industry guidelines, but we'll leave the customers of the other institutions to follow suit.

WORST most unethical bank out there! I tried your link you said you were launching and it didnt show anything? I am very interested in pursing a class action lawsuit against Compass Bank and their predatory practices. I hope they are robbed at every single branch at gun point and the employees are all tied up and tortured. I hope every single street gang targets BBVA Compass bank to consider robbing them just like they do their customers/victims. They will soon go under because you cannot go through life without reaping what you have sewn!

They are aweful and I will never do business with Compass Bank again. I had a line of credit, they charged late fees when things weren't late, had to make several trips to local brank to finally have it resolved. The got fed up, paid the entire line of credit off. Still had one eft going to make payment and couldn't stop it. They would not give me my money back, they charged interest even though I had paid the line and all interest fees off, then said they needed to charge me 3% to give me my own money back. Argued with staff for over an hour and they still would not give me money back. Now I have to wait until their next billing cycle to get a check from their main office. It is unbelievable that this is allowed to continue. Predatory practice and unscrupulous business practices. Never ever again.
