My son in law own(s/ed ?) a 5 week time share at Island Links Resort in Hilton Head, SC. He purchased from previous individual owner 10 years ago. He wanted to sell it, and in the process, we wanted to buy our own t. s. there. In January of 2016 the corporate resort staff told us they would buy his time share and, at a discount, use it as down payment on our purchase. They never followed through. Now we are trying to solve this problem.
Palmera (Coral Resorts) are totally uncooperative. They do not return phone calls, ignore mailings, and otherwise to deal with us. Because we are not signatories on the contract in question, the State of South Carolina will not work on our legal complaint through them.
People should realize that the tourist / vacation business drives the economy of South Carolina, and the state government will do NOTHING to solve this sort of fraud in favor of the victim. They are in the pockets of the resort businesses.
DO NOT EVER BUY A TIME SHARE !
ALTHOUGH MANY NATIONALLY KNOWN BRANDS, REPUTABLE HOSPITALTY RESORTS WHICH SELL THEM ARE NOT FRAUDULENT, MOST LOCALLY BASED RESORTS ARE.
YOU CAN ALWAYS FIND SPACE IN YOUR CHOSEN VACATION PLACE TO RENT. JUST RENT BY THE WEEK AND AVOID THE FRAUDSTERS !
Coral Resorts lived up to their original agreement to buy back our time share at an agreed on negotiated price. Paperwork completed, notarized, and "the check's in the mail." We'll see in 60-90 days.
palmera is a scam do not purchase from them they show you a book with prices and point system that after you purchase you find out it is not true, example we rented a time share with points from another time share, and when we arrived they asked us to come to a meeting to review our time share and see what they offer and you get a free gift, no pressure and you will be out in 1 hr. salesman was nice and showed us what they had to offer, , He offered to purchase our 3 time shares from other companies, and sell us theres and that with theres we could stay at the same resort and only use 970 points or we could rent it for 168. dollars for one week.. to good to be true... he showed us a book with different resorts same thing. we fell for it signed over our resorts and bought theres.. we tried to get in the system to review he said we should after 5 days .. it took 14 days and when we logged in to book a vacation in New Orleans, we found out it cost 30000 points and there was a fee. we called them and they were rude and hung up on us... called again this woman said learn how to us the book. we filed a complaint with florida and south Carolina and the response back was again learn how to us the book... we have since filed a suit. So beware of this scam... also they have changed there business name to Palmera however on file there is other names also being investigated...
Has anything happened with your law suit? We are meeting with a lawyer soon about them
I think we may have fallen for the same scam. How do we get our money back and our other time-share that we agreed to give them?
We fallen for the same plan with Palmera and know they have sent us to a collection agency Pinnicle. Not sure how to handle being held hostage with our credit report. Can you provide the outcome of your investigation?

This company just resells timeshare for points you can’t use unless you let it accumulate for years. It absolutely useless.
