I have been a member of Crafters Choice Book Club for almost 3 years and have been generally happy with the products and service. However I decided for financial reasons I need to cancel my membership. In late September I ordered several 'free' books to redeem my bonus points, and then the next day went into the website to the cancellation section. Within about two days I received an email (which I kept) assuring me my last shipment was on the way and that while I might receive a mailing or two, I will not receive the regular monthly selection.
In October I received the September selection, which was identical to the items I redeemed my 'bonus' points with. I emailed the company and received no response.
Today (October 30) I received another package from them, presumably the October regular selection. I have not opened this package.
I went into the website and see that my account is still current. I can log in, and review all my shipment records. I clicked 'do not send' on next month's regular selections, then I emailed them and notified them that I regard these books I've received recently as unsolicited gifts, will not pay for them, and will donate them to charity. In the meantime I asked them to ensure my cancellation is complete, and to please stop sending me merchandise and mailings.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
Right now, they have all their books on sale for $10.99, when you have to pay over $13 for a book in order to meet your membership requirements. There are a few that don't qualify for the "discount", but they are all over $35. I am really tired of this way of doing business.
I ordered a book and with shipping the price was $15.02, when I received my credit card bill, Crafters Choice charged me twice for this book. My credit card company posted a complaint and Crafters Choice returned $15.02 (note: they still were paid in full). I received a bill from Crafters Choice stating I still owe them $15.02 and now they tack on a $3.00 late fee. After sending them documentation and calling them on the phone, they still insist that I owe them this money. My credit card company said that Crafters Choice must go to their Bank who will verify payment was made TWICE. This small amount of money has caused nothing but stress to me. I cannot find the address of their headquarters or the name of their CEO, who would get a letter from me on this.
Crater's Choice is in plain words a business set-up to trap consumers into buying their books. I didn't even sign up for there club and they sent me 2 books - seeing that they were only 4.20 i thought i'd pay for them and end the hassle of having to ship them back. However i didnt read the fin print that said : WE WOULD OWN YOUR SOUL AFTER THIS TRANSACTION! They have ruined my financial life as the kept sending me books - really expensive books too - 4 books totalling up to 140 - apparently theu had pre-determined which books i should buy and then sent them to me expecting a payment! NOw they have sent me into creditors. I spoke to them on the phone telling them i would return the books but they claim that either way I will have to buy other books in order to complete my membership - however they seem to have missed the part about ME NEVER HAVING SIGNED UP FOR THEIR MONEY SCAM OF A BOOK CLUB! BOOK CLUB MY ###!
Now I am getting my lawyer involved and he says that they are definitely in the worng! SO i will win my case - it just sucks that they'd put innocent people through this!
I hope this deters someone else from joinging the club!

The minimum amount that the books must cost in order to be considered bought for your agreement is ridiculous. I don't get book that I don't order anymore, but the best thing is to mark them return to sender. It works.
I am going thru the same thing with them. I have called several times to tell them not to send books, or I will not pay for them. The books kept coming, I would return them and finally I told them, Send me one more book and I will not pay for it or return it. I too have been contacted by a credit co.
To make a long story short...They have charged my debit card for books I didn't order. i have yet to get it all back. I told them to cancel my account only to find that they have charged me for more books and when I called the supervisor said that I had opened two accounts and only one had been closed! Now I have more books being mailed to me that I have to send back (they said they had not received all the books back from the money they charged my account previously even though all books were mailed back at the same time) and she told me that I had not full filled my membership!
These people do not care who they take money from and they take no accountability for anything. I've tried to delete bank account information from the website and it tells me I can't!
They do not try to make things right with you even if it caused an overdraft of $50 to my already low bank account. They tell you that you have to prove it was because of them !
