I am currently attending CTU online. I have been going to this school since Feb. 19, 2007 and I am supposed to graduate Feb. 10, 2009. My mom has been on me for a while to do some checking up on this school. Which I should have done before I enrolled.
I decided to give a local Community college a call to see if my degree would get me a job in Florida after a graduate. So he did some checking up on my school and called back a few minutes later and told me that my school was not accredited by anyone that Florida accepts.
He also asked me if they had any kind of sit down standardized test prior graduation. I called them and asked and they said no. So I pretty much just found out that the degree I have been working on for the last year and supposed to serve one more year in will not be worth anything.
I already owe them a good 8 to 9 thousand dollars or more on student loans that I dont feel i should have to pay.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
If you are paying with student loans from federal money it is aaccredited. If it is acceptable by military GI bill it is accredited. I have checked both of their accreditations out through deparment of Education and it checks out. It is the same accredditation that my "traditional" "brick and mortar" University that I frist stared out at uses. It is for people, like me who have a family and a job and do not have time to sit and listen to the professor use a monotone voice for about and hour. I did all of my checking before hand and found this out from the Government.
I did some checking myself and you have been severily misinformed...the government only funds accredited schools...and i have never heard of an employer checking on the accredidation of the school you attended...I have heard of them checking to see if the school is legit and that you infact did earn the degree but not on the accredidation of the school...you can't do your initial nursing online because you have to have the clinical hours and therefore most states will not accept a first time nurse online classes for initial certificaiton so if you have to sit for boards or liscensure then you would have to check the laws for that state with the board you will have to test with to obtain certificaiton...however the government will not fund these classes so you got some bad info.
CTU Online is part of Colorado Technicial University with it's first Brick and Mortar school in Colorado Springs. It is ineeded accredited:

CTU has the same accreditation as the university of phoenix and I have been researcing for a while.
The school is in fact accredited by the government. The only program in that school which is not accredited is the nursing program. The school will let you know ahead of time if you ask. If you ask not them you get not. So instead of blaming the school. Look to see what accreditations they have for specific programs.
Yeah, and who is teaching would-be students the RIGHT Qs to ask? Not the Admissions "Advisors." We were sale$people, pure and simple: to meet a Quota each month and meet a minimum of THOSE to actually Start THEN ... a number of those to actually Finish. Come On. Really. Whatever.
As a former part time student, I have to truly say, by the end of the semester, that I finally decided to withdraw and transfer to another school, I was fed up. They almost had me convinced to re-enroll if it wasn't for two things: the PBS special, College Inc. and they had me down to enroll full time, when I specifically told the woman part time and the fact that they knew I was unemployed. One of my biggest concerns was the ethics of some of the instructors and that there were some who were reading from a book. My last instructor and I had a disagreement with one of my grades. Well, one day, I went into the live chat archives and she was actually telling another student about our conversation, with some exaggeration to make herself look good. Everything that her and I discussed was recorded in that live chat with the other student. I guess she didn't think that I would go in; I rarely did.
I decided to enroll in an online course with a local college, here in Upstate NY, that has been around since 1865 and has a good reputation. When I gave them my CTU class schedule so that they could see how many credits would be transfered, only 6 credits could be transfered., out of 36. What a waste of time and CTU degrees are worthless here. It is better for me to attend a SUNY college. Thank God I only owe $733.00. It looks like I won't get my 6 credits transfered until I pay what I owe, but I don't care about 6 credits. I'm just glad I got out when did. I believe other students who have complaints about the school. The same type of treatment was broadcasted on PBS, concerning some of the tactics used with these online schools. People experience what they experience. I sure did. It only take one bad incident for a company to look bad. The saying goes, one bad apple spoils the whole bunch.
The government will give you a loan for a non accredited school. Check out College Inc on PBS.org. Online is for profit. This was a great deal of what they discussed.

CTU is a degree mill.
Pass this video along to other CTU past and current students via Facebook. It's time the word gets out regarding CTU deceiving business practices and acreditation issues. CEC the corporation that owns CTU is under Federal Investigation for many unlawful practices.
I 'am a former student of Colorado Technical University, I chose to attend due to the long hours that I worked at my job. They are accredited and my former community college which is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools which is a regional accreditation in my part of the U.S. accepted my CTU credits. As far as I know CTU is regionally accredited by North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. For further information before looking into any school one should check out the US department of education web page.
