Cymri bulldogs selling sick puppies!
I purchased a puppy from Jim/Judy Claytor of Cymri Bulldogs. Bought on contract as a show/breeding ### and guaranteed in good health. A month after bringing her home to live with me in Canada she was diagnosed with 3 severe inherited defects which make her lucky to be alive. She can not be shown or bred. When I contacted Jim/Judy Claytor they initially denied the puppy was sick and said our vet must be lying. We then had specialists reports done from radiologists at Washington State university to confirm the diagnosis. The breeder still denied the puppy was sick and again we repeated the tests and had the head of radiology at WSU provide us with a written report to confirm the diagnosis. Jim/Judy Claytor of Cymri Bulldogs have refused to refund our purchase price on return of the sick puppy. Instead they state "we owe you nothing" (despite a sales contract). After multiple requests to resolve this matter, they agreed "out of the goodness of their hearts" to replace the sick puppy. Although they still had 3 puppies which they could have replaced our sick puppy with - and instead lied stating they had no more puppies. They had already told us they held back several puppies and were showing them at puppy matches, along with their website evidencing the held back puppies, along with yet another "JR" they were trying to sell. When we asked Cymri bulldogs (Jim/Judy Claytor) to provide us with a deadline as to when they would replace our sick puppy they refused to provide a deadline and stated they did not know when they would be breeding again. Instead, they demanded we return the sick puppy to them in Texas (a 4 day drive as the puppy is too sick to fly) and sign over all registration to them. We continue to have the puppy in our care months later, as given their comments that they owe us "nothing"... we are fearful that they will only resell the sick puppy should we return her - and never provide us with a replacement puppy. It appears they have no intention over ever replacing our sick puppy and in fact told us to stop contacting them that by contacting them to try to resolve matters fairly we were "harrassing" them! CYMRI bulldogs (Jim/Judy Claytor) are unethical, uncaring breeders. The puppies they are producing have severe inherited defects possibly from the dam or the sire. They should be honouring their sales contracts and should be concerned about the product (puppies) they produce. We have incurred thousands in medical care costs in keeping this puppy alive. Cymri bulldogs only cares that they received a heafty purchase price for this sick puppy! Looking back, it was clear there was something wrong with the puppy when we initially picked her up, however Judy Claytor stated that the puppy was just "tired". Had she done a simple chest xray on the "tired" puppy, should would have been aware of these defects before selling her. People need to be aware of the way Jim/Judy Claytor treat purchasers and fellow bulldoggers! Unfair, unethical, and uncaring! We are now incurring medical bills for this sick puppy ongoing, out our heafty purchase price, out our flights to Texas to personally accompany the puppy back to Canada on purchase ~ while Jim/Judy Claytor take no responsibility for producing such a sick puppy. And while it was not their intention to produce a sick puppy, any reputable breeder would have taken back such a sick puppy and gladly refuned the purchase price (having the expert reports to confirm the inherited defects)!

Deaf
Be careful! My daughter paid $1800 to Robert McBride for a dog who turned out to be stone deaf. He takes a very legalistic approach (for example, hsi guarantee requires getting particular vitamins he pushes). I sent him the vet's assessment and he kept asking for more documentation and kept changing his promises - he was not willing to make even a 50% refund. I would highly recommend looking somewhere else.
