Decluttr Decluttr.com Review: My Experience Selling Old Phones – Not Worth the Hassle

So, I was just going through my son's room after he moved out and found two old phones that he wasn't using anymore. I thought it would be a waste to just keep them lying around since they were still in good condition, so I decided to look for ways to sell them. That's when I came across Decluttr.com.

At first, I was apprehensive about the whole process, but then I saw that they offered a total purchase offer of $115 for both phones, and I thought that was a fair deal. I mean, it was better than the phones just ending up in a landfill somewhere, and my son would get a little bit of money back from what he paid for them.

So I followed Decluttr's instructions to ship the phones in any available box via UPS. I took them to a UPS store and gave them my open box, planning to have them pack my phones for me. However, the store staff said that federal law prohibited shipping cell phones containing batteries in regular boxes due to the risk of fire, and I had to use a protective box instead. I didn't know about this before, so I had to pay an additional $5 for the special box, but I guess it's for safety reasons, so I can't really complain.

After a week, the phones finally reached Decluttr, and they started processing my order. However, when they reviewed both phones, they informed me that the LCD screens were damaged, and they couldn't pay the full $115 for them. Instead, they reduced the offer to only $11.50 in total – one phone was worth $10, and the other was worth $1.50.

I was really confused and frustrated at this point because I powered up the phones at home to reset them to factory settings. I even checked on them again before shipping to ensure that they were in good condition. There was absolutely nothing wrong with either phone when I shipped them. They were always kept in Otterbox cases when they were in use, and had screen protectors on them – there weren't even any scuffs or scratches on the screens. How the screens suddenly became defective is beyond me. I watched the UPS staff pack the phones up in bubble wrap, so I know that they didn't break in shipment.

I didn't want to waste any more time arguing with Decluttr about the value of the phones, so I just went ahead and accepted their reduced offer. But I did send them an email asking what was wrong with the LCDs because their report only said that they were damaged without any explanation of what was wrong. Unfortunately, I haven't heard back from them yet.

In conclusion, I wouldn't recommend using Decluttr's service to sell your devices. They may find a way to devalue your phone from the original offer, and it's just not worth the hassle. I thought I was doing a favor for my son by getting some money back for his old phones, but it ended up being more trouble than it was worth.

Decluttr Decluttr Review: Terrible Customer Service and Accusations of Fraud when Returning Faulty Phone

My family had a horrid experience with Decluttr. They sent us a phone that didn't work and when we tried to return it, they accused us of fraud. Communicating with them was a complete nightmare, as it was all done over email with no human interaction. Save yourself the trouble and avoid this company if you want to buy a refurbished phone. We lost $200 and learned a hard lesson.

To give you the longer version of our ordeal, we decided to buy an iPhone from Decluttr as a Christmas present for our daughter. Unfortunately, when she tried to activate the SIM card it wouldn't work. We immediately contacted Decluttr and returned the phone on December 28th. It's important to note that we never used the phone and it never left our possession while we had it.

After almost two weeks of waiting, we finally got a response from Decluttr via email. They denied us a refund, saying that "the IMEI/serial number don't match what we recorded." We tried to reason with them and explain our situation, but the company wouldn't budge from their stance. It was frustrating and infuriating, and we couldn't believe that a company could treat its customers so poorly.

To give you a bit more detail, the phone looked fine at first glance. It was a silver iPhone 6s in good physical condition. When we discovered that the SIM card wouldn't work, we thought it was a simple mistake that could be easily remedied with an email. We were wrong. Decluttr sent us a return label on December 27th, and we promptly returned the phone the next day.

On January 10th, Decluttr emailed us saying that "Unfortunately the phone that was returned is different from the one originally purchased. The IMEIs/Serial No. Do not match." We were confused and started to help them by providing photographs of the phone we received, showing its IMEI and suggesting that maybe there was a mix-up with another phone that had the same appearance. But Decluttr refused to consider this possibility, and instead repeated that the IMEI they recorded didn't match the phone we returned.

In summary, Decluttr's customer service believes that their system is perfect and can't be mistaken. They refused to listen to us and accused us of being fraudulent. We are certain that the IMEI was recorded incorrectly, and they simply didn't want to admit a mistake. Our experience was terrible and it was a difficult lesson to learn. Do not trust this company, and save yourself the frustration of communicating with them via email only. Look for a reputable vendor with live human customer service that values their customers.

Decluttr Beware of Decluttr: Dishonest Practices and Misleading Advertising

So, I had a bad experience with Decluttr and here is the long story about it. I sent them my MacBook, which was in perfect condition as far as I knew. They gave me an offer of $210 for it, which I thought was fair. However, when they received it, they claimed that there was "casing damage" and lowered their offer to a measly $21. I was confused by this, as I knew for a fact that the laptop had no physical damage when I shipped it. I tried to get some proof from them to back up their claim, but it took them two days to reply and all they provided was a photo of clear damage to the casing. This made me even more suspicious, as the damage seemed to have been inflicted from inside the casing.

I received my laptop back and inspected the damage myself and it was clear to me that Decluttr had probably damaged the casing intentionally to justify their initial claim. I didn't take any photos of the laptop before sending it, which was foolish of me, but I urge anyone considering using this company to take multiple, dated photos before sending in their product.

I was upset by this whole situation and requested that Decluttr own up to their mistake and honor our original agreement, but they denied any responsibility and refused to pay me anything for my laptop. I felt like they were holding all the cards and there was nothing I could do about it.

In addition to this site, I would recommend that anyone looking to use Decluttr to read the complaints on the Better Business Bureau's website before sending in their product. I actually found that their claim of BBB Accreditation on their site is misleading at best.

So, all in all, I wouldn't recommend using Decluttr and I encourage anyone who has fallen victim to them to file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission. Hopefully, if enough people do this, they will launch an investigation into the company's practices.

Decluttr Decluttr Review: Poor Customer Service and Lack of Compassion in Resolving Order Mistake

So, let me tell you about Decluttr. I decided to order a 2-disc limited edition of Mission Impossible 2: Original Soundtrack from their website through the Amazon.com marketplace. It was a beautiful day, I was sitting in my backyard, and I felt like some good tunes. I got offered an item for Metal Gear Solid: Greatest Hits instead. What a disappointment! I contacted the customer service and asked for a solution. They did apologize, but that was all the compassion they had to offer. They asked me to return the item to them, paying for the postage, mind you. Then, and only then, they said that they would return my money. During a pandemic, I wasn't excited about going to the post office for what amounts to $3.99 in postage. I offered them to return the item myself if they would just ship me the item I paid for. However, they refused and demanded their item back before they would refund me. I tried to find a solution and suggested they refund me, and I would keep the useless video game they wrongfully sent me. I explained that I didn't even own a compatible video game console, but they declined that solution as well. It seems that all they care about is reselling the item they mistakenly sold, and they aren't willing to go out of their way to make it right for me. All in all, Decluttr demonstrated their lack of willingness to keep a customer happy and made it clear they care less about compassion than making money.

Decluttr Decluttr Review: Fraudulent Company with Poor Service and Unfulfilled Payments

Decluttr is a company that claims it can help you get rid of your unwanted tech items. However, in my experience, it would be much easier to just throw your things in the trash. I sent a package filled with tech items, including used DVDs, a PS2, an iPhone SE, a Galaxy J3, and Blu-Rays. I received payment for my items, but it was not close to what I was quoted. On the other hand, my fianc? did not receive any payment or even a confirmation email that his package was received. We waited the customary 7-10 business days before contacting them, but we regretted it instantly. The customer service rep was rude and unhelpful, and we were unable to speak to a supervisor/manager despite requesting to do so. We eventually emailed them, but the response we received was not helpful.

According to the UPS tracking number, his package was received by Decluttr on the same day as mine and signed by an employee named Coleman. However, when we spoke to the customer service rep, they claimed that they did not receive it. We have continued to email and call, but no one has gotten back to us. They keep claiming that their managers are in a meeting or gone for the day, but we have not received any response. In fact, every time we call, we are met with unhelpful customer service reps who do not provide any solutions. We have left our number and fianc?'s name, but no one has called back.

Sadly, we are now out the almost $100 this company originally quoted, as well as my fianc?'s items which we can no longer sell elsewhere. To make matters worse, we were only selling our things in order to afford medical treatment for our 9-month-old daughter who was recently diagnosed with Juvenile Leukemia, white blood cell therapy. It's clear to me that this company is fraudulent and untrustworthy. I would not recommend sending them anything of value as you will be disappointed.

In conclusion, Decluttr is a company that is not worth your time or money. Even worse, their customer service is rude and unhelpful. We are extremely disappointed and hope that others will avoid doing business with them. It is important to be cautious and do your research when dealing with any business, especially one that is so clearly fraudulent.
