Depression Forums Anhedonia Subforum Review: Lack of Support and Misinformation on Depression Symptom

I remember posting something on that anhedonia subforum last year. It was a really tough time for me. I was feeling so down and I just needed someone to talk to. But the people on that forum were not very supportive. They said that anhedonia is not a part of depression because depressed people can still be happy. I knew that was wrong. I mean, just because someone is depressed doesn't mean they can't feel happy sometimes. But it's also true that anhedonia is a real symptom of depression and it can make it really hard to feel any joy at all.

What really bothered me was that some people on that forum would talk bad things about their own therapists. They thought that they knew more than their therapists and that the people on the forum were mental health experts. That's just not true. Therapists go through years of training and education to help people with mental health issues. They know what they're doing.

Overall, I didn't find the support I was looking for on that forum. It was relatively small and the forum mods were not very active. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who is looking for help with depression.

Instead, I've been going to 7cups.com. They have been a lifesaver for me. There are so many supportive people on there who are willing to listen and offer advice. It's not a promotion or anything, but I really think it's worth checking out if you're struggling with depression.

Depression Forums Toxic Environment: My Experience on Depression Forums

This website, Depression Forums (depressionforums.org), is a place where people can come together and talk about their struggles with depression. However, my experience on this site was not a good one. There is a lot of abuse that goes on here, from the site owner to the members to some of the site moderators. It's really sad to see a place that is supposed to be a safe haven for people dealing with depression turn into a toxic environment.

I had a really bad experience on this site and I won't be going back. I got in trouble for reacting to someone else's extremely rude and harsh comments towards me. The moderator who punished me seemed to be heavy-handed and inconsistent. I've seen her initially support a member who is getting abused, then punish that same member for not letting the conversation die. It's really confusing and frustrating.

I had been a member for a while and I experienced a lot of toxicity from many members. It made my mental health worse, not better. They also seem to ban members they simply don't like. It's really unfair treatment. They make up TOS that are not even written, which is really frustrating.

Overall, I would not recommend this site to anyone. It's a shame that a place that is supposed to be a safe haven for people dealing with depression has turned into a toxic environment. If you're looking for a place to talk about your struggles with depression, I would suggest looking elsewhere.

Depression Forums Beware of the Admin: My Experience with Depression Forums

Yo, listen up. I gotta tell you about this site called Depression Forums (depressionforums.org). Now, I ain't gonna lie, there's some good stuff on there. The members are mostly cool and the moderators do a decent job. But there's one big problem: the top admin, Lindsay. She's a real piece of work, let me tell you.

First of all, she's a mental psycho case herself. I mean, seriously, she's got some serious issues. And yet, she's running a site for mental health support? That's just messed up. She doesn't even follow the basic rules of mental health services, like compassion, understanding, and support. Instead, she's abusive towards members for the smallest things. Like, if you make a tiny mistake, she'll jump down your throat and make you feel like crap. And if there's any conflict, she overreacts like crazy. It's like she can't handle any kind of disagreement or criticism.

But the worst part is when someone is really struggling and needs help. You'd think the admin of a mental health site would be supportive and understanding, right? Nope. Lindsay is anything but. She's not objective at all and she doesn't seem to care about anyone's well-being. It's like she's just there to boss people around and make them feel bad.

Honestly, I don't know how this site is still up and running with someone like Lindsay in charge. She's a liability, plain and simple. So, if you're thinking about joining Depression Forums, just be careful. The members and moderators are great, but the admin is a real piece of work. I give it one star because of her.

Depression Forums Review of Depressionforums.org: A Supportive Community with Some Caveats

This website, depressionforums.org, is a really good place to go if you're feeling down and need some support. The way the site is set up is pretty easy to navigate, and there's a lot of content to explore. The community there is made up of a lot of different people, and you can do a lot of different things on the site.

One thing to keep in mind, though, is that the site has been around for a long time. There's a lot of information that's been posted over the years that hasn't been organized or edited very well. So if you're looking for something specific, it might be hard to find.

That being said, the users on the site are generally really helpful and supportive. They can be uplifting and sympathetic, which is really nice when you're feeling down. However, the people who run the site can be pretty irrational and verbally abusive. The volunteer moderators are the ones who are in charge, and they can be pretty heavy-handed. They abuse their power a lot, which can be frustrating.

While most of the users are pretty nice, there are some who can be manipulative and malicious. So it's important to be careful who you interact with on the site.

Overall, I found that spending time on the site wasn't great for my mental health. But that might not be the case for everyone. It's definitely worth checking out if you're feeling down and need some support. Just be careful who you interact with, and don't let the negative aspects of the site get to you.

Depression Forums Depression Forums Review: A Disappointing Experience for Those Seeking Real Support and Guidance

I gotta say, I'm not too impressed with this Depression Forums site. I mean, sure, the people seem nice enough and they're always there to lend a listening ear, but it doesn't really feel like a place where you can actually get better. I've been lurking around here for a few years now, and it seems like most people are just here to vent and complain, rather than actually work on their issues.

I've been on a bunch of other sites like this, and most of them have some sort of structure or guidelines in place to help people stay on track and hold themselves accountable. But here, it's just a free-for-all. I've seen people post some really concerning stuff, like talking about suicide or self-harm, and the responses they get are usually just a bunch of "hang in there" and "you're not alone" type of comments. It's like nobody wants to actually address the problem or offer any real solutions.

And don't even get me started on the admins and mods. There was one guy who had been posting for months about how he was planning to kill himself on a specific date, and nobody did anything about it. Even after he actually went through with it, the admins just shrugged it off like it was no big deal. That's not the kind of environment that's going to help anyone get better.

So yeah, I wouldn't really recommend this site to anyone who's actually looking to work on their mental health. If you just want a place to vent and complain, then sure, go ahead and check it out. But if you're looking for real support and guidance, you're probably better off looking elsewhere.

Depression Forums Depression Forums: A Toxic Community of Harassment and Abuse

I joined Depression Forums a few weeks ago, hoping to find some support and understanding from others who are going through similar struggles. At first, everything seemed fine. I read through some posts and even made a few of my own. However, things took a turn for the worse when I posted a question about a topic that I felt was relevant to the community.

To my surprise, a couple of people responded by telling me that discussions about the website itself were not allowed. I was a bit frustrated by this, and I made a comment to the effect that I thought it was silly. I then decided to delete my account and move on.

Unfortunately, things didn't end there. I received a series of long, abusive emails from the owner of the website. He went into great detail about why I was a terrible person and why I didn't belong on the site. I was shocked and hurt by his words, and I asked him to delete my account and leave me alone.

Instead of doing so, he banned me from the site and continued to send me abusive messages. I was at a loss for what to do. I had come to this site looking for support, and instead I had found nothing but harassment and abuse.

If you're struggling with depression, I would strongly advise against joining this website. The people who run it are clearly not interested in helping others or creating a supportive community. Instead, they seem to be more interested in bullying and harassing those who don't agree with them. Save yourself the trouble and look for support elsewhere.

Depression Forums Mixed Experience: Great Community, Poor Site Owner

I've been a member of Depression Forums since 2007, although I've been on and off the site over the years. I had an old account from 2013 to 2020, and I must say that the majority of the members are lovely people who help support each other. They have been a great source of comfort and advice for me throughout the years.

However, I had a negative experience with Lindsay, the site owner, that I feel I should share. I messaged her after being advised to by another moderator regarding a topic that was made last year. I wanted to know if she could delete it or possibly edit it. The next morning, I logged on after nicely asking if she could help, and she didn't seem to understand my message. I explained again, and she replied 12 hours later saying she was tired. I explained again, and she copy and pasted the 'TOS' terms of service. It didn't say anything about not editing posts out, so I asked her again.

I was then shocked when I received an inbox back from her accusing me of telling her how to run her website that she has been running for 15 years. She basically made me feel like I didn't matter and that she had other members to deal with. I replied at this point, telling her who she thinks she's talking to and that she must enjoy bullying people. I could tell that she was used to people being scared of her because she even invited her entire mod team to help back her up. The next day, after I told her what I thought of her, my account was banned.

I must say that Lindsay is a very strange lady, and I wouldn't recommend visiting the site because of her behavior. However, the community is lovely, and I even donated to the site at one point because of the support I received from the members. I have saved the print screen of our conversation, and I hope that she learns to treat her members with more respect in the future.

Depression Forums Mixed Feelings: My Experience with Depression Forums

I gotta say, my experience with Depression Forums (depressionforums.org) was a bit of a mixed bag. On the one hand, I was really excited to find a community of people who were going through similar struggles as me. It can be really isolating to deal with depression on your own, so I was hopeful that this forum would be a place where I could connect with others and find some support.

And for the most part, that was true! I found a lot of really helpful threads and posts that gave me some new insights into my own mental health. But there were a few things that really frustrated me about the site, too.

For one thing, the auto-censoring on the site is really wonky. I tried to post a success story about a medication that had worked well for me, but when I mentioned that I got headaches from beer and wine, the words "beer" and "wine" got changed to "alcohol" for some reason. It was super confusing and made me feel like I was going crazy! And when I tried to edit my post to fix it, I found out that I couldn't because I had been put in the moderation queue for being a "troublemaker." What the heck?

I tried to reach out to the moderators for help, but I had a really hard time getting anyone to respond to me. I must have messaged at least seven different mods, and each time I got the same response: "Sure, I can help!" But then when I sent them my corrected text, they would just disappear and I wouldn't hear back from them again. It was really frustrating and made me feel like my contributions to the forum weren't valued.

I did eventually find out that the auto-censoring is actually a site policy meant to protect people who struggle with alcohol addiction. Apparently, the forum software is set up to replace the names of specific types of alcohol with the generic term "alcohol" to prevent people from being triggered by certain words. I can understand the reasoning behind that, but it still seems like a weird way to go about it.

Overall, I'm still glad that I found Depression Forums and I think it can be a really helpful resource for people who are struggling with depression. But I do wish that the moderators were a bit more responsive and that the site policies were a bit clearer. It can be really frustrating to feel like you're walking on eggshells all the time, and I think that takes away from the sense of community that the site is trying to foster.

Depression Forums Disappointing Website Experience: Moderation, Sketchy Rules, and Snarky Founder

This website ain't that great, which is a bummer because there are some really cool people on there who I'd like to chat with more.

On my first day, one of my posts got moderated. I replied to someone who said they wanted to stab themselves in the chest. They took out any mention I made about the act. I got it at first, because there ARE people who are feeling suicidal who might get triggered.

But it just kept happening. One nitpick after another.

Their rules about what you can and can't say are also pretty sketchy.
At one point, I spelled "post" as "pot" and saw that it got changed to "urn." I asked about it, and they said that talking about drugs is pretty much banned on the forums. I thought it was pretty funny because not only is a "pot" something you use in the kitchen (and a topic that could come up in everyday conversation,) but "urn" is not even close to being a good replacement for the word, and for some people, urns can be a reminder of death and a trigger.

I got a really snarky response back, this time from the founder of the site (meaning the person I talked to about it actually told on me, like I was some kind of problem member) telling me that no one is making me use the site, and that I'm lucky my username ("joshdammit" which she said she found offensive) wasn't changed, and that my "demands" are "unreasonable." She tried to explain why "urn" is a good word to use ("you can also pour water in an urn." REALLY?) and ended with a sarcastic "We hope you find this definition of the word suitable. We go out of our way to make sure you are 'comfortable.'"

This is not cool behavior from the owner of a site that wants people to pay for premium subscriptions.

On top of all that, the site is a mess to use, with ads and unnecessary coding everywhere, and it's hard to find what you're looking for.

I'm never going back to this site again.

Depression Forums Depressionforums.org Review: A Powerful Message of Support, But Beware of the Moderators

This forum is a place where people who are struggling with depression can come together and support each other. The motto of the forum is "No one should be alone in this. We can help." This message is very powerful and can even be life-saving. It lets people know that even if they feel isolated and alone, there are others out there who understand what they are going through and are willing to offer help and support.

However, I recently discovered that this message is not entirely true. My brother had been struggling with depression for years, and I only found out about it when I went through his emails. I discovered that he had joined depressionforums.org a couple of years ago. He had been posting comments and offering support to other members of the forum. He was the same kind, caring, and helpful big brother that I had always known and loved.

However, I also discovered that my brother had been banned from the forum. He had only posted three times before he was banned, and I couldn't find anything in his posts that violated the forum's rules. It was heartbreaking to see that my brother had been trying to reach out for help and support, only to be shut down by the very forum that was supposed to be there for him.

As a newly registered member of the forum myself, I read the rules and regulations carefully. I wanted to understand why my brother had been banned. However, I found that the moderators of the forum reserve the right to ban any member without warning and without explanation. Once a member has been banned, they can no longer access the site's functionality.

It's sickening to think that a forum that is supposed to be a safe place for people who are struggling with depression would ban members without explanation. It's even more sickening to think that my brother was not the only one who had been banned from the forum. A quick Google search revealed that there are many others who have been banned from depressionforums.org.

In conclusion, while depressionforums.org may offer a powerful message of support and help, it's important to remember that this message may not always be true. The forum's moderators reserve the right to ban members without warning or explanation, which can be devastating for those who are struggling with depression and looking for support. It's important to be aware of this before joining the forum and to be cautious when posting comments or seeking help and support.

Depression Forums Review of Depression Forums: Supportive Community with Potential Biases

Depression Forums is a pretty good place to go if you're feeling down and need some support. They seem to really care about their members and want to help them feel better. However, I have some concerns about their funding sources. I've heard rumors that they might be getting money from drug companies, which could mean that they're biased towards medication as a treatment option. Additionally, I'm not sure if the head moderators are completely impartial. It's possible that they have their own agendas and might not always be looking out for the best interests of the members.

That being said, I do appreciate that Depression Forums is a free resource. I know that some other depression websites are sponsored by therapists or clinics, which can make it feel like they're just trying to get more customers. I would prefer to find a non-profit organization that isn't influenced by any outside interests. It would be great to have a place where people can go to get support without feeling like they're being sold something.

Overall, I think Depression Forums is a decent option for people who are struggling with depression. They have a lot of helpful resources and a supportive community. However, I would caution people to be aware of the potential biases and to do their own research before making any decisions about treatment.

Depression Forums Depression Forums: A Disappointing Experience - Try Beating the Beast Instead

Depression Forums (depressionforums.org) used to be alright, but lately they've been treating their members pretty poorly. If you're looking for some support for depression, anxiety, or any of the other issues they talk about on the site, you might want to check out a different website like http://www.beatingthebeast.com/.

The folks over at Beating the Beast seem to be a lot more caring and invested in their members. They really seem to care about helping people through their struggles. So if you're feeling down and need some support, I'd recommend giving them a try instead.

Depression Forums Depression Forums Review: A Community with Good Intentions but Room for Improvement

Depression Forums is a place where you can find a lot of folks who are nice and willing to lend an ear. However, the people who run the site, especially Lindsay, can be pretty mean and unpredictable. It's a shame because it takes away from the good vibes that the community tries to create.

One thing that really bugs me about the site is the ads. They're everywhere and they're always moving and flashing. It's clear that the site is making money off of them, but they still ask for donations. I don't like feeling like I'm being taken advantage of, so I found another site that doesn't have any ads at all. It's much more peaceful and I feel like I can focus on getting the help I need without being bombarded by distractions.

Overall, I think Depression Forums has some good things going for it, but there are definitely some issues that need to be addressed. If they could tone down the ads and make the site a little more user-friendly, I think it could be a great resource for people who are struggling with depression.

Depression Forums Toxic Atmosphere and Lack of Action: My Experience with Depression Forums

I gotta say, I'm not too happy with Depression Forums. It's just not a great place to be. There are some folks on there who just love to talk trash about other members, especially women. And the worst part is, nothing ever seems to get done about it. I had a really bad experience with one member who was just preying on people who were already feeling vulnerable. It was almost enough to push me over the edge. But when I tried to report him, nothing happened. It's like they just swept it all under the rug. And to make matters worse, they don't even allow links! But somehow, it's okay for a staff member to ask for money? That just seems really sketchy to me. Overall, I'd say the atmosphere on Depression Forums is pretty toxic. It's not a place I'd recommend to anyone who's struggling with depression.

Depression Forums Depression Forums: A Disappointing and Abusive Experience

This website, Depression Forums, ain't what it used to be. The person who runs it, Lindsay, ain't exactly the nicest person around. She can be downright abusive and unstable at times. It's like she's living in a different world or something. I mean, how can someone like that be in charge of a mental health forum? It just don't make no sense.

And don't even get me started on the misogyny. It's everywhere on these boards. Women get treated like dirt and nobody seems to care. But if you ask for something as simple as a name change, you get scolded like a child. It's ridiculous.

Back in the day, this place was a lot better. There were some mods who actually gave a damn about the people here. But now, it's just a hellhole. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who's struggling with mental illness. You're better off finding somewhere else to go.

Depression Forums Poor Customer Service and Lack of Support on Depression Forums Website

Depression Forums (depressionforums.org) is a website that is supposed to help people who are struggling with depression. However, my experience with this website was not a good one. I had a problem with one of the admins and when I tried to discuss it with them, I was given a "warning". I didn't think I had done anything wrong, so I tried to message another admin about it. But instead of getting any help, I was sent a "ROFL smiley" and told not to waste their time.

I was really disappointed with the way I was treated. I thought that a website that is supposed to help people with depression would be more understanding and supportive. But instead, I was banned from the website altogether without any explanation or discussion. It was really poor customer service.

I wouldn't recommend this website to anyone who is struggling with depression. If you need help, there are other websites out there that are much more supportive and understanding. Don't waste your time with Depression Forums.

Depression Forums Review of Depression Forums: Helpful Resource with Some Issues

This forum, Depression Forums, is a place where people can come together to talk about their struggles with depression and find support from others who understand what they are going through. I have been a member of this forum for a number of years, and while there are some wonderful people there who have helped me through some rough times, I have also noticed some issues with the site.

One of the biggest issues I have with Depression Forums is the amount of advertisements that are present on the site. It seems like every time I log in, there are more and more ads popping up. While I understand that the site needs to make money to stay afloat, I don't think it's fair to bombard users with ads and then try to coerce them into donating with the promise of an ad-free site. I post on many other sites that are ad-free and donating is strictly voluntary, so it's frustrating to feel like I'm being forced to pay for something that should be free.

Another issue I have with Depression Forums is the fact that it is run as a for-profit business. Mental health support shouldn't be a commodity, and it's disheartening to see a site that is supposed to be helping people turn into a money-making venture. I understand that the site needs to make money to stay afloat, but I think there are better ways to do it than by charging users for access to support.

Finally, I have noticed that the moderation on Depression Forums can be quite draconian at times. There have been instances where posts have been deleted or users have been banned for seemingly minor infractions. While I understand the need to maintain a certain level of decorum on the site, I think the moderators could be a bit more lenient and understanding of the fact that people who are struggling with depression may not always be in the best frame of mind.

Overall, while Depression Forums can be a helpful resource for people who are struggling with depression, I think there are some issues with the site that need to be addressed. The amount of advertisements and the fact that the site is run as a for-profit business are both concerning, and the moderation could be a bit more understanding. That being said, there are still some wonderful people on the site who are willing to offer support and advice, and for that, I am grateful.

Depression Forums Depression Forums Review: Lack of Responsiveness and Inconvenient Features

Depression Forums is a website that claims to offer support and help to those who are struggling with depression. However, my experience with this website has been less than satisfactory. The Terms of Service state that you can report any issues or problems to the administrators, but in reality, they do not respond to any reports. This can be frustrating and discouraging for those who are seeking help and support.

One major issue with Depression Forums is the lack of a "delete account" button or any way to deactivate your account without reporting it to an admin. This can be a major inconvenience for those who no longer wish to use the website or want to protect their privacy. Unfortunately, the admins do not respond to these requests, leaving users stuck with their accounts indefinitely.

Another issue is the inability to edit or delete posts. This can be problematic if a user makes a mistake or wants to remove a post for personal reasons. Additionally, users cannot change their usernames without contacting an admin or moderator, who may or may not respond to the request.

Overall, my experience with Depression Forums has been disappointing. The lack of responsiveness from the admins and moderators makes it difficult to use the website effectively. I have been waiting for over a year for a response to my request, and I have yet to receive one. If you are looking for a supportive and helpful community, I would recommend looking elsewhere.

Depression Forums Depression Forums: A Toxic Environment Run by a Power-Hungry Moderator

This website, Depression Forums, is run by a person named Lindsay who seems to be quite strict. I have been on many forums before, some about mental health and some about other topics, but I have never seen anything like this. Lindsay has a lot of rules that are hard to keep track of, and if you break them, you will be punished without any explanation. Sometimes your account will be suspended, and if you don't show enough respect to Lindsay, you might even get banned from the site altogether. It's no wonder that there aren't many posts on this forum.

I think that Lindsay might be a bit crazy. She seems to be on a power trip and enjoys being in control. I don't think that this is a good way to run a forum. People should be able to express themselves freely without fear of being punished. I think that Lindsay's approach is toxic and is driving people away from the site.

Overall, I would not recommend this forum to anyone. If you are looking for a place to talk about your mental health, there are many other forums out there that are more welcoming and less strict. I think that Lindsay needs to take a step back and reevaluate her approach to running this site.
