cobra benefits
This outfit is sooooo discombobulated. That's not a good thing when they're handling other's money for insurance benefits! They can't get out of their own way with COBRA benefits (which they are collecting for ALL my insurers). Despite the fact that I pay for my benefits via a re-occurring payment from my bank (NFCU) for receipt by the end or the month for the benefits in the following month, they STILL MANAGE TO F UP and send erroneous information to the actual insurer that essentially leads the insurer to believe that I am terminated as of the last day of the current month. Now this is DESPITE the fact that the correspondence is to give that insurer the premium for the following month. DiscoveryBenefits HAS GOT to get it's systems in order so that this doesn't continue to happen. I've had physicians offices and dentists not want to take me because of their erroneous information given to the insurer. For example, DB rec'd my COBRA payment on 2/22 FOR MARCH COVERAGE and, whatever they sent to MetLife, indicated that my coverage was cancelled as of 2/28/17. They'd almost have to be TRYING to be this INCOMPETENT! I'm calling my contact at the EBSA and reporting them! You CANNOT F with people's COBRA benefits. ESPECIALLY when they've ALREADY paid you for them!
they steal premiums
STAY AWAY! Same story as everybody else: they have been taking my premiums for SIX month and have yet to forward my enrollment to the insurance company. Cobra is administered by THREE federal agencies: the U.S. Department of Labor [protected], the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (877) 267.2323 x61565, and the IRS [protected]. I have medical accounts going into collection because of their ineptitude, so I am suing them in small court under the FCRA. Texas small claims court limit is $10K, and it's an easy DIY process. DiscoveryBenefits messed with the wrong person!
insurance lapse
I paid nearly 900 on 10/28/16 to continue my coverage. I had alreadupy met my deductible & out of pocket so my remaining Drs visits should have been paid 100%. They have still not activated this policy & im about to be turned over for collections for dr bills I do not owe! How do I fix this! I am furious! Why should this process take so long? I want all my claims to be refined for payment like they would have been had someone informed my insurance if my continued coverage in a timely manner.
Contact the Department of Labor's Employee Benefits Security Administration at www.dol.gov/agencies/esba. They also have a "ask an attorney" section.
won't authorize rx refills
Left employer Feb 9. Signed up for COBRA in March - made payment for Feb / March. Made next payment on April 8th. Called Optum Rx for prescription refill and told they were showing coverage. Called [protected], but they weren't open on the weekend. Used voice response system to verify receipt of payment. God, I hate this company!
I have tried to contact them multiple times on the phone three times, different day & time. Each time I cancelled the call after being on hold for over 35+ minutes.
I tried the Live Chat. My browser pop up could not even connect to the Chat server...
I think the company is going broke. Get your funds out NOW!
I just hung up after 2 hours and 16 minutes on hold. They suck! Their charges of 20 bucks for every payment are ridiculous and you can't batch more than one. I even had to pay 20 bucks for their billing mistake. If you mail things in they take days and days to show your insurance effective for cobra. then you get ripped off to pay online.
Like a LOT of the rest of the reviewers, if I could give this outfit zero or even negative stars, I would. I have dealt with COBRA benefits before and most people do not realize that you need to pay 1 month in advance for coverage. It is possible you lost your benefits.
Good luck
