Unprofessional and Doesn’t Care
DOES NOT CARE ABOUT REPEAT CUSTOMERS!
A week before the Chicago flooding in July 2023, I set up an appointment. My guest bathroom was leaking water into the condo below and causing damage. It needed repaired quickly. Waited a week for the appointment.
On the night before the appointment I missed a call from DRF. Called back and they said I was still on schedule. The morning of the appointment (A weekday where I took off work!) they cancelled on me.
Despite being a repeat customer, having an appointment for a week, and a leak that was causing water damage, apparently I wasn’t as important as the “profitable” flood customers. They said I couldn’t have an appointment for another 3 weeks. Manager talked to the “Bosses” and said it was coming from the top.
If you want a company who doesn’t care about repeat business, doesn’t give a crap (pun intended) about their customers, or keeping their word or appointments, is only interested in chasing the bigger buck, then go to this crappy place.
WILL NEVER CALL BACK AGAIN and I WILL TELL OTHERS!
Recommendation: Go somewhere else!

They quoted a price of installation of a water heater at $1089- and scrolled thru the documents where they charges are totally different - I ended up with an $1,800 ***.

Incompetent, lazy, dishonest company from top to bottom. Water heater is garbage. Unit is less than 6 months old and has already needed to be replaced once, but they come up with excuse after excuse for why they will not replace it. They're saying it isn't up to code so they will not touch it. They installed it less than 6 months ago, AND the inspector has cleared it. Apparently they don't install things up to code. Did you know water heaters condensate a gallon+ of water into your floor per day? I've not found another plumber yet who supports their claim. They insisted the first time it needed to be replaced that or wasn't up to code, and insisted that they talked to me about it which is why they're not responsible for repairs while it's under warranty- the strange thing is, I was at an appointment with our daughter until right before they left... My husband was here, not me. They are the worst company to do business with. Now it's broken again and they're unwilling to fix it AGAIN because even though we clarified with the inspector that it is in deed up to code, they still will not touch it. *** management has been zero help in resolving the issue with this company either. "
Would not recommend doing business. Moved into a home spring 2020 that has a sprinkler system. *** was the sticker on the box in our garage so we called them. Signed a $450 contract for *** certification, turn on and turn off services. A *** employee was to fix 2 sprinkler heads for us - 1 that didnt work at all and the other that would get stuck and we had to manually unstick it. In the process of winterizing, 1 of the sprinkler heads that a *** employee fixed shot up out of the ground (we contacted them immediately when it happened) and the other never properly turned the whole season even after they fixed it which we had also called about. While we were compensated for the cost of a service call, we still sit with our 2 sprinkler heads not fixed. We were ghosted in November trying to get this settled for this years turn on service and now a month of us contacting them again, going back and forth for this spring, theyre only willing to fix what they never fixed in the first place IF we sign another contract with them for $450. The maintenance and customer services they provide are definitely not worth a $450 contract for a residential sprinkler system.
DFR is a rip off they charge you anywhere from 5 to $600 per hour They also do not do the price match guarantee like they say needless to say this company is a complete rip off they do work for *** lows and a bunch of other places don't ever ever use these people they are Thieves there are many plumbers who are licenced who will do it for half the price I got a "for $995 to install the same water heater that they charge me for $1702 they will not do the price match guarantee so now I am going to be taking them to court . Because I refuse to pay a $1000 more than what it should be

DRF negligently installed a water heater in my home which caused a water leak that damaged my neighbor's unit. DRF has refused to take any steps to remedy the problem. It has been over a month since the water leak occurred.

I wish I would have reviewed their reviews before selecting this company for what it looks to be a trend in their lack of ownership or open mindedness to resolving failed water heater installations After installing my water heater in 2017, I called this company to fix an unrelated piping issue however; this tech noticed that I was experiencing a back draft with the recently installed water heater and he recommended to have the chimney inspected. Short time after that, I had caps installed and the chimney checked out fine. During our recent few days of frigid temps, I noticed steam back drafting into the bsmt from the water heater exhaust pipe so I called yet another chimney company however; they determined that what was causing the back draft all these years, wasn't my chimney. It appears to be that DRF's install tech failed to address few key factors . 1- My furnace was no longer using the chimney as it has been switched to a high efficiency venting system leaving the exhaust from the water heater having to fight it's way up by itself. 2- The difference in diameter between the chimney and the 4 inch pipe he used to connect the water heater to the chimney. This should have had the tech pause and assess the install as well but instead, he proceeded by installing a reducer from the 8 inch chimney to 4 inch. After calling the company several times, they declined offering any ownership and or resolution, as a matter of fact Chris ( a supervisor there) made it clear that he will not even attempt to show any empathy or concern. Same answer after escalating the issue to his manager Kyle. It took me watching some youtube videos and reading few articles about how a difference in size between the chimney and exhaust pipes changes the dynamic and instead of sending the carbon monoxide out, it pushes it back in. Sadly, I did my research too late but then again, I guess MY BIGGEST MISTAKE WAS TO ASSUME THAT THEIR INSTALLER WOULD HAVE KNOWN THESE FACTS AND DONE THE RIGHT THING by delaying the install until either a 4 inch liner was installed in the chimney or recommend a high efficiency water heater instead of the one he brought. DRF failed to acknowledge the lazy wrongfulness of his actions and instead made me feel like I was at fault for waiting so long to call. My suggestion to potential customers is to please do your research and educate yourself about the work you are about to have done, don't assume that they have your best interest in mind and don't be afraid to stand up to the installer or cancel the job on the spot because one their leave your house, DRF washes their hands and you are pretty much on your own.
They replaced our water heater and badly damaged our floors. Refused to accept any responsibility and left us having to fix/pay for it ourselves. The lack of professionalism and fairness is what I am so concerned with. Basically put all of the blame and cost on our shoulders after we paid them well over $3k for the job. Shocked a company like Home Depot would put their reputation on the line with a company like this. Was in utter disbelief they could treat a customer this way. I assume it is because something like a water heater does not need to be replaced every 10-15 years therefore they do not care about repeat business. A sad way of conducting business.
DRF is a fraudulent company. They significantly damaged my brand new hardwood floor and wouldn't do anything to fix it. A good company would own their mistake and make every effort to fix it. They being a crappy company offered a $25 Home Depot gift card which is offensive. Additionally, their installation technicians were extremely rude the whole time. They also left the empty box right in the middle of the alley. I would never work with them or trust them.

My water heater installation experience has been a nightmare and continues to be unresolved to this day
My water heater installation experience has been a nightmare and continues to be unresolved to this day. I went days without water because the fake installer sent out to do the job forgot to turn all the valves on as part of the completed project. It took over 2 days for someone to come out. I have talked to 20 DRF reps for the last 5 days trying to get adjustment on my bill. Everyone tried to make seem like it was my fault that I didn't have water for 2 days. They feel like they don't owe me an apology or credit on my account. I have asked for a supervisor several times and was told everyone was out to lunch at 3:45 pm. Then I asked for owner of the company's name or person over the supervisors and this rep told me he was new to the company and don't know anyone because it's 150 people in the office. But for some reason all of the supervisors & managers take lunch at the same time.
