This review was chosen algorithmically as the most valued customer feedback.

In the span of 5 days, I ordered two different Wii systems from two different sellers/stores from ecrater.com I never received any product and when I contacted ecrater to file a complaint, they told me that neither seller nor store was an ecrater seller/store. However, I can still go to one of the sellers on ecrater. Instead of backing the sellers/stores, they pass the buck. So by saying that the seller is no longer there, they are allowing anyone to post a sale, take the money, and walk away from ecrater with no accountability. I will NEVER shop ecrater again and I will pass on my fraudulent transactions everywhere I can.

Ecrater is a market place just like ebay, or ioffer, or craigslist. You as the consumer have to do your homework and check the seller rep, just as you do on eBay. Bashing an entire website, is not the solution, it's the individual you need to deal with. If you use Google Checkout, or Paypal for all your payments you have no problems with the seller doesn't follow through, the payment system deals with you and refunds immediately if the seller doesn't respond, or doesn't follow through with the sale.

On the other hand, as a seller, if you accept Google Checkout, they have protection services that actually protect you, Paypal could careless.

Don't bash the site, Ecrater is a free market place that goes above and beyond to help maintain their initial vision of free enterprise for everyone. That is something very rare in this money greedy world. The site owner personally answers sellers emails, and goes above and beyond, and eCrater is the best selling experience we have ever had, and continue to have on the web.

Do your homework!

Sincerely, eCrater storefront user. We have 4 stores and are very happy with eCrater, and the members in the community of eCrater that help each other! WS1 GGG

I purchased...well tried to purchase a 60GB PS3 from a seller called "bankruptstock." I contacted the seller about his reputation and and how many products he has sold. His response was very timely and had acceptable information. I went ahead with the purchase through paypal, and it was denied. The seller contacted me and said he used the wrong address and to buy the item again. My payment was not credited back to my account until I told the seller about it. Once my money was refunded from the "mistake" I followed through with the purchase again. My money was accepted taken out and transferred to the seller. Everything good? Since then I have emailed the seller about shipping information if it is available and have not heard anything, and it's been four days. Through out the whole time the sellers name had been changing in email notifications from dale boughton, to daley bunton, then to bobby davyl! I tried emailing him on the "ask seller a question" from product page with a different email and name, and still no response. I am almost positive this is a scam. I would strongly suggest you DO NOT use eCrater as a way purchasing products. Selling may be a whole other experience, but I do not trust any seller from this site due to the high risk of scamers. BEWARE

I might point out that i had the same experience on Ebay. I purchased from some company in thailand, made my payment with paypal and never received my product. That's the great thing about Paypal though, within a few weeks they credited my account for the loss.

I don't understand why Jane would have to get a credit if the payment was "denied" in the first place.

I only hope that anyone taking the risk of purchasing ANYWHERE online would have the sense to use insured or otherwise guaranteed methods of payment... and not COD (since you post payment before you open the box) or money transfers, or even giving your credit card information to an unknown company.

Ecrater is just open to the public and a great place to be treated as you would in any public situation... there are as many scammers in the world as honest people, choose WISELY and CAREFULLY!

I purchased from a company called getagiftforanybody.ecrater.com . Total Scam! I have not received my products ordered nor was the phone number valid. The phone number was to some kids phone number.

The email isn't valid either. Just a word of advice: avoid public shopping sites all together. If the webmaster can't afford to have a paid hosting provider and domain name with a working shopping cart and be a valid merchant with reputable check out like paypal or google then avoid them all together.

I bought something on ecrater and never received the item, and paypal wouldn't refund my money. Now I am out $80. I would strongly suggest staying away from ecrater and paypal.

I ordered a birthday gift for my son from a seller called "basefootbasket" on ecrater. I ordered it in March to ensure delivery in April. I never recieved it and sent over 20 e-mails before I got a response, which said they did send it. After three months and 30-40 more e-mails, I finally got them to resend the item, which arrived in 4 pieces (mailed in a standard envelope). I've sent multiple more e-mails and they won't respond to me. I will never order anything from ecrater again. Paypal would not assist me as well.

I have never ordered from eCrater, I've always been suspicious. Every seller I see for the items I am looking for, have never had any feedback "Feedback: n/a". They are always selling 1, maybe 10 items. On the other hand, I have ordered hundreds of items off eBay, and the one or two times I've had an issue, one being international, the company was forced to refund my money. A few other times, sellers refunded partially for lack of a good description. There was a few times in the past when I ordered from a store on ebay, three years ago or so, and never received the item, but I was young and had no clue how to go about getting my money back.

If anyone has dealt with PayPals system, you'd understand what a pain they are. If you have a debit card, you can't submit a fraudulent charge online, you have to file paperwork, and fax it to them. As a seller who sells thousands in online services a month, PayPal refuses to side with the seller if the item is virtual, as they have no proof. They won't even try to work with you to understand what you are selling, and verify the customer gets what they paid for. They force you go to through the process of replying to the customer and talking about what happened, and force you to provide shipping information to something that is stated as a Service in the paypal purchase, they do this even when you state there is no shipping required. In the end, they always refund the customer their money and the seller gets screwed. As for buying experiences with PayPal refunding my money, as long as the seller can provide proof of shipping, the buyer is pretty much screwed. AKA PayPal is the devil... avoid them at all costs... Maybe Amazon payments is better?

I was also ripped off on eCrater. They, unlike eBay, provide NO support for BUYERS. There is no recourse. I am in the process of recouping my money via PayPal. Stay off of there is my advice. Even read their "contact us" text. "You will be ignored" It says that. They don't care about the consumer at all.

Here's a little tip, on the bottom of the page is will say something like "Last Updated DATE "
I've seen stores that havent been updated for years and ppl still purchase from them and leave a negative saying something like "no response from seller". Make sure the site is updated routinely so at least you know someone is actually behind the website working on it and not away from there webstore in LALA land .

Just my 2 cents

I never ordered from ecreater.com, but am a merchant.

I can assure anyone that orders from my store that I except Paypal and Google Checkout. They will notify if you got an order. In today's world you have got to be careful, but I am a very real person and it is a shame that some people will find any way they can to screw people over.

I can not speak for other stores, but I am a Pixar Cars merchant and the merchandise I have for sell is in hand and owned. Dont judge everyone by one or two screwups.

If you are a Pixar Cars fan, stop by make an order and I will prove that there are still descent people. I only use Ecrater to avoid alot of the fees.

If you have any questions you can contact me squeeky04@gmail.com
I cant speak for the others, but I am 100% legit.

By the way, I have had the similar experiences with ebay that I never got item, as well as amazon receiving the wrong item then got a BS story about how amazon misposted the item. Fees on both are outrageous!
You hear it all. Best thing is if ecrater update is past 2 weeks do not order! Those that update daily or weekly probably are the ones that are still there. If you come to the store I prefer you to use Google checkout. It is stated that all my items will be shipped in 48 hours and if you dont recieve the item, contact the poster if you dont hear nothing back, then go to GC and get a refund. Dont wait a month. Cause if you didnt get any confirmation from seller it is shipped or order was received by seller within 48 hours, directly from the seller, then assume that they are not there. Best thing is to contact any seller prior to making order to confirm they are still there.
Just please be careful cause in the economy today, you need to be Aware!

I lost $80 by buying something from a seller on eCrater, never got the item. Owner/Management of eCrater just said 'go through proper channels' when I asked them for help. Now I will only buy from eBay or Amazon or legit sites.

This is not true.

eCrater is somewhere between craigslist amd eBay in that its a more open system, but it also goes further than craigslist to provide buyers and sellers with support systems. As others have said, do you homework, you can get some great deals on eCrater and meet some great people!

There's a difference though, ebay does provide good service.
Craiglist on the other hand is a completely free service, so you expect that you have to be cautious and protect yourself.
eCrater on the other hand, is a website for profit, therefor they should be more cautious who they let sell there, eCrater just sucks, flat out.

I ordered a "Mac Daddy" Bed Head Manipulator from haircandy on ecrater.com and have not received it 4 weeks later. I paid through google checkout, on 11/09/09 it was posted to my account. I have sent a number of e-mails through the website and additional contact e-mail addresses and haven't received any response whatsoever. I think they might be a scam and don't recommend this store to anyone as of right now.

DON'T USE ECRATER! I also never received the product that I paid for! Of course the money was taken the minute I made the "purchase" The very sad part is that I was purchasing a set of Strawberry Shortcake sheets for a little girl being given a Christmas by the Salvation Army - it was one of the items on her wish list. The ripoff artist on this particular experience was daisysclosets - I place the blame completely on the "seller" and ecrater - both completely lack integrity - what goes around comes around...

I have been selling on ecrater for a couple of years now. If you are interested in purchasing sterling silver jewelry at reasonable prices please check out my store - My Jewelry Box

If you purchase something on ecrater and pay for it with Paypal you do have protection. If the item you purchased isn't mailed or if you do receive it and it is significantly different than described you can file a complaint with paypal. However, you need to do it within a reasonable period of time. I have had a couple of problems with buyers who bought items from me, damaged them and then returned them demanding a refund. Unfortunately for me Paypal gave them refunds although I did nothing wrong. Also I had a buyer confuse my item with someone else's and gave me neutral feedback. So, bad things can work both ways.

I tried to buy 2 $100 keyboards from a store in ecrater and as most of you can guess, NOTHING. No email, no phone call, no conformation, absolutely nothing. I filed a claim with paypal, thank god i used paypal, so at least i have a chance of getting my money back. However i see people defending ecrater. Why is this? It is their responsibility as, i don't quite know what to call them, a third party store to perform background checks and other forms of customer protection or they have no business providing customer service. If they keep this up they will go under, because people, like myself, do not have the time or the money to waste. To everyone who is reading this i strongly urge you to NOT buy anything from ecrater. After posting this, I am going strait to the BBB (The Better Business Bureau) and filling out the forms there. I suggest anyone having a problem to do this as well.

DO NOT BUY from CandS Jerseys for less
Oak Lawn, US
Jan 21, 2010 11:15 am EST

eCrater has one of the worst businesses doing business on their site. Candsjerseyforless or C & S Jerseys for less is the worst business I have ever dealt with. They sent me, after over a month waiting to get my jersey and being completely mutilated in the mail, the wrong jersey. The owner insists that I ordered that jersey, even though I have record of what I purchased. He would not refund my money only exchange and then stated after receiving what I returned that the tags were missing and I might not get my exchange. The jersey never came with tags or any shipping material for that matter. The owner, on top of it all, was completely rude and never once apologized except told me that I should be grateful that I can return it. STAY AWAY FROM CANDSJERSEYFORLESS OR C & S JERSEYS FOR LESS ON ECRATER.

I have to say my friend and I have a store on eCrater and are honest sellers.

The reason there would be a n/a is because buyers have the option of leaving feedback. A lot of folks don't leave feedback and that is frustrating for sellers trying to gain a rep.

We try to have transparency when we sell, we link back to our ebay id's because, that shows we have a history of great transactions.

Google Checkout should protect buyers just as paypal does. There are also forums on eCrater to have discussions about concerns.

As a note, a lot of folks are moving to eCrater, because we do not currently like the environment with the eBay/Paypal monopoly. It makes it impossible to make any money for the occassional seller, and makes sellers have to raise prices for buyers.

I just wanted to defend ecrater a bit. It isn't perfect, but it isn't bad. Just like any other place there are a few bad apples that ruins it for everyone.

If you are looking for Disney, McDonalds, olympic, or any other random item, you can check us out at Ecclectic Collector on eCrater. We are also working on content for a collector's blog.

You can also email us with any questions.

ecrater.com is a terrible company to do any business with. I ordered inkcartridge from one of the stores there. Ended up, it was a scam artist in China, getting credit card information. I had a bunch of false charges on my credit card, had to put a lock on it. Complained to eCrater.com, but they just blew me off. Crap service with little regard for integrity and honor. I recommend shopping ebay or craigslist, and never using eScammers.com.

"Once again, the only people posting good things bout eCrater, are the ones posting links to their store, hoping for a sale or a back-link on a search engine... Which makes eCrater look even worse."
________________________________________________________________________

How can it make ecrater look worse? People are telling you they are ereputable sellers, and promoting thier store. I see no problem with it. I can see where it looks fishy to you, but you have to understand that we are just trying to say "Look I am reputable, come visit my store and see for yourself" I have tried that a couple of times as well. I thought it would give people a little trust in me.

Here's one for ya. I am a reputable seller. I am here to defend ecrater, and I will NOT post a link to my store. i started selling on ecrater a month ago, and I love it. I try to have as much dialouge on my store as I can to communicate to the buyer I am for real. I have my contact email address, so people can address me if there is a problem.

Many people are saying ecrater is bad because of the scammers that are on there. The sad thing is, scammers exsist all over the web, not just on a free ecommerce site. There are scammers on ebay, and on regular paid for web sites. If someone gets scammed by a person that has a site on Go Daddy, yahoo, or network solutions, you don't blame the hosting companies for that, you blame the seller. If someone had a store at a shopping center, and that store was terrible, you complain about the store, don't say the whole entire shopping center is bad. Same thing with ecrater. If you get scammed by ANY seller you have protection from your bank/credit card company, paypal, or Google Checkout.

There is another issue I would like to address. People say they don't trust someone who would ratther sell on a free site vs paying for thier own ecommerce site. Ecrater being a free e commerce site is not the only thing that attracts sellers to the store. I was attracted to selling on ebay because of the exposure. My ecrater store gets far more hits, and sales than my web site ever did. I was paying for a web site last year, and created my own store. My sales were nothing like they are now. People just werent finding my site, now they are. yes a free store is great, but the added benefit of great exposure is even greater.

So remember folks, online scammers exist everywhere, not just on ecrater, so always buy with caution!

Kelly, I appreciate that you actually took the time to address the problem rather then just promote your site.

I will agree that there are reputable sellers on eCrater, like yourself, who don't scam people. I however do believe that eBay takes many more precautions to prevent this, and therefor has less scammers.

I actually just had to set up an ebay store for my boss last week, and the amount of crap I had to go through to get it set up, was exhausting, but I'll tell you what, I wouldn't scam with all the information they have on me :|.

I do agree, scammers exist everywhere, I just think eCrater should do a better job preventing it, it seems they do almost nothing to prevent it, then you end up waisting money, time, and exhausting yourself just to get your $50 back...

I am a seller on eCrater and I have been with eCrater for about a year, I also have store on ebay and I have status of "top rated seller and power seller" with 100% positive feedback. My seller rating on eCrater is 100% positive too. I am not going to post links to my stores since some of you guys are so sensitive about it. Only I can tell you I deal with OEM remote controls. I do as much business on eCrater as on ebay. I am very happy with eCrater and I did never run to any problems with buyers. It happend, that the buyer purchased item and send me email to cancel transaction and I do if item has not been shipped yet. On the other hand I had not paying buyers on ebay and had to open unpeid item dispute. Anyway there is no perfect marketplace, not all sellers are perfect and not all buyers are perfect. Do not blame on eCrater. Ecrater is wonderfull place for honest sellers, which do not wone to to get ripped off by ebay fees. I am thinking to close my ebay store since they make more profit on my marchandise then I do. Advice for you buyers. Do not thing ebay or Amazon is the best place for all your shopping and you protected by them. You are not. You only protected by payment procesors like PayPal or Google checkout etc.
Good luck to all of you.

ECracter? this is big lie! Stay away from them. I don not know if some sellers want to do business but I recently bought a Iphone cover for $20. It took about 20 days for shipping and the iem was shipped from Hongkhong shown on its website only at $2.99. I thought the seller create a Ghost website accepted order and then made order from somewhere cheaper like Hongkong then shipped to the customers. Please be careful as buying products from this website .

A friend of mine has an Ecrater store. She is a working mother of two and opened her business to provide a better hand made product than she was finding on the market. She is also trying to save money for her kids education. Ecrater has given her the opportunity to make a little extra money and offer a good product to everyone. Her Ecrater store has been open for over a year, has a facebook site, is listed in several online forums and comes up quickly with Google. She is a reputable seller and a conscientious business woman. I think Ecrater is a great vehicle for entrepreneurs, and allows them to promote their business and make a decent profit!

Any online selling site you deal with poses some risk. I have ordered eBay merchandise that was never delivered or not what I ordered! Even some individual websites are like that. When you say things like "ECracter? this is big lie!", or "Ecrater is a scam" you are making a broad sweeping judgment against hundreds of honest merchants. If you have a complaint against a specific MERCHANT, make it. Contact the BBB about the MERCHANT. If you want to make prejudicial statements against a large group of mostly honest people, like my friend, who are just trying to make an honest living, you should reflect on your own motives. Maybe you are just a prejudiced judgmental individual who feels the need to lash out at anyone around you.

My suggestion... grow up.

I'm don't know if I said it in my past messages, I don't believe eCrater is only theifs. I will agree with you, there are good sellers on it, what I don't agree with, is the fact that eCrater has more scammers then eBay and Amazon and probably any other major marketing site, combined! Why would we want to shop somewhere, where we constantly have to worry about being scammed.

Of the probably, [protected]+ things I have purchased off eBay, I have been scammed less then 5 times. I have had a bad experience with no more then 20 of those items, if that. Of those 20, eBay, and yes I mean eBay not PayPal or anyone else, fixed the issue personally (I buy a lot internationally). The majority of the issues, has been Internationally, and have mostly revolved around DOA products. The issues were not able to be solved by customer to seller contact mostly for the fact that we don't speak the same language (or they pretend they don't understand you)... But I have NEVER had an issue with eBay getting my money back on a product that didn't show up, or failed. Not to mention, I'm not afraid of buying from sellers with no feedback... On the other hand, I would NEVER buy on eCrater from a seller with little or no feedback. Then we have amazon, I have probably purchased 300+ items there, and I have NEVER had a single issue. I know of a few people who have had issues getting pirated software on amazon, but I have yet to run into that. I trust amazon so much, I don't even look at store feedback or customer responses most of the time.

I agree, there can be scammers on every site, but as I said eCrater does nothing to keep out the scammers, or so it seems by their high amount of scammers. As for ordering things from Hong Kong, what do you think, it takes 2 days to ship from all the way around the world? I order a lot internationally, and that's because I'm willing to wait the 2-4 weeks to get the item for 1/2 to 1/10th the price. With ordering from Hong Kong, I understand there's more chances items will be broken when they arrive (generally due to their lack of protecting the package, in which case I file a dispute). It also takes much longer for them to arrive (A lot of which is due to US Customs). If you have an issue, you can't understand the seller enough to fix it, and they always just tell you to "buy new one" or "I check before ship, not broken, you not using right.", you will always have to go through third party to get it fixed. And last but not least it's pretty much impossible to return the item if I don't like it. If you can't accept that, buy locally.

As for the guy above me, saying report the merchant to the BBB, you kind of people amaze me. Since when did "reporting someone to the BBB", become the answer to everything. The BBB is the Better Business Bureau, not the Better Scam Detection Bureau... I highly doubt the people scamming on eCrater have a business, and if they do, they aren't going to relate it with their scams, making that entirely pointless. They can just go create another store, even if the BBB managed to do something about it, which I HIGHLY believe they would.

Noting that, I had someone a few weeks ago threaten to report my website to the BBB because he thought he could lash out at me and cuss me out, and I would respond by doing whatever he wanted. This was all because of a little downtime on my site, something I can't control. I obviously didn't give him what I wanted, instead I lectured him about how he should treat fellow human beings, that obviously pushed his buttons, so he threatened to report me to the BBB. Boy'o'boy was that a laugh, now he is completely banned from my site. If you want to threaten reporting me to the BBB, to try and get your way, you're just going to get laughed at. I do agree the BBB can be helpful, but people try to abuse it by sending empty threats to get what they want. If that's the case, I say go for it, you send your bs report to the BBB and I'll make sure to supply them with your threats and reasoning for it. Regardless, this paragraph has nothing to do with the subject, just branching off to my views on the BBB... You can't just report every little thing to the BBB, what are you going to do, report the girl scouts if one of your cookies is broken? Maybe a lemonade stand, because some little girl accidentally gave you a dirty glass of lemonade? What a joke!

On an ending note, I appreciate that you guys have not posted links to your stores recently, as that tells me you truly want to change our views on eCrater and not just try to make a sale.

I can not agree with Tibursio comments. He must be blind. Like I stated few days ago on my comment ebay is the rip off place. I am most the time seller not buyer, but I do buy things occasionally. I bought on ebay camera bag (Sony). It was described as original Sony and item is located in California. I am getting package from Hong Kong with very bad replica of Sony bag. Did not even fit the camera, lens cover was on opposite side of it. Just junk made by same guy in garage. Left the negative feedback for seller. Guess what, she still selling the same item. On another hand since I am ebay power seller and preferred seller I have buyers not paying for items they purchased. I had buyer doing it for three times. Every time to get item back on stock takes 8 days. Guess what? I had to block him from purchasing in my store. He still on ebay and doing the same thing to others. Is this fair? No. He should be sanctioned and restricted by ebay to purchase items with immediate payment only. He does not. So, what is great about ebay? Bunch of drop shippers. On the other hand I did never had problem with international buyers. I had buyer in US which purchased item in mid of December last year and send me email in end of February stating he never use the item and he does not like something about it. He is treating me with negative feedback at this point. The funny thing about it before he bought the item he try to bargain the price few times. More ebay seller will go to ecrater and bonanzle. You can not blame anything on ecrater. I think there is a wonderful site and owners of it a keeping hand on it. If they will find you are using copy rated images or sale fake merchandise they will shuts you down immedietly. And they do that.
I can tell you only is not ebay is ebafia. I am glad you happy with your 2000 purchases on ebay. Bad the bad news ebay is going down the hill so you will have to look for another place to shop.
Bedebe you left wonderful comments. Great job.

Haha wow, well, there are so many flaws in your last message it's not even funny.

First: Judging by your English, I'm guessing that you misread the auction where you bought the so called "Sony" camera bag, it was probably a camera bag meant to fit a Sony camera, not a camera bag made by Sony.

Second: If this was the case, the camera bag was most likely made in Hong Kong, you yourself said the package came from Hong Kong, and you also said that you are an international seller in an indirect way, almost every international seller I encounter on eBay is from Hong Kong or Australia, and going off your English and the words you do and don't use, I'm guessing you are from Hong Kong. Anyways, That's besides the point... You state that you simply "left negative feedback for the seller" and that she is still selling the same item... You never said you filed for a dispute or tried to get your money back, you also know as a power seller, (I was one as well) that you don't just get shut down for one negative feedback. But none of that even matters, because you didn't report them or file a dispute with eBay for the issue, so they didn't even get a chance to look into it.

Third: You say you have issues with buyers, purchasing and not paying... You lose all of what... 10 seconds of your time, to go and file a dispute to get your what $0.40 listing fee back. But, regardless, as a powerseller, you also know that you can just require immediate payment upon purchase and prevent this problem altogether.

Fourth: You state that "you can't blame anything on eCrater", you are so wrong there, I can blame so much on eCrater... I do find it very ironic how you blame eBay for all your problems as a seller and buyer, when you can easily have fixed those problems yourself, with the tools eBay has provided for you!

As for saying I'm blind, I believe you were naive in stating that to begin with. The whole point of argument is each party stating their opinion in the matter, that is what we are doing, if you want to call names, go for it, but it will only make me think less of you and eCrater.

Last note, I do agree with one thing you said, the one buyer is threatening you with negative feedback if you don't do what he said... I personally agree that ebay screwed up by not allowing sellers to leave buyers negative feedback anymore...

On that note, I'm sorry to hear about your one bad buying experience, in which you most likely misread what the auction said, and I'm sorry you blamed it on eBay when you yourself said that you can't blame anything on eCrater for similar situations...

I just found a store on eCrater that is selling counterfeit copies of my products. This company has gone as far as using my photos to sell the items! Don't buy from HELLOPROMO!
THIS IS A SCAM!

I have sold on both Ebay and Ecrater. I have also bought on both of them. Ecrater is a very good site to sell on. I sell vintage glass and that is kind of hard to fake. I personally do NOT believe any of these fake stories about Ecrater. What I believe is that someone is going on a "SMEAR CAMPAIGN" to smear Ecrater. If you buy something through Paypal or Google Checkout..you are REFUNDED if you don't get the item, period! When I sell something and someone pays with Google checkout, there are checks in place to insure that I do what merchants do..ship the item. If the person doesn't get it, they notify Google and are refunded with no questions asked. Maybe some of these supposed "buyers" were actually scammers who wanted the merchandise and didn't want to pay and found out they weren't dealing with dummies. I love Google checkout and ECRATER! As for Ecrater, the site is easy to navigate, the product pictures are large and tasteful, and the community works very hard policing itself. If someone is selling items that are questionable, their store is suspended immediately; unlike Ebay that will let the person sell their junk until they run out.
