An overpriced and incomplete education that never seems to end with costs..
I've tried to complete the BS in Alternative Medicine degree at Everglades twice now; and I always have to stop attending over financial discrepancy, lies and lack of accountability of the school. I can rarely get any answers from EU, much less a straight answer; and have been shuffled around only to feel frustrated and disappointed. The first time I attended I had to drop out of the program because the school wanted to keep ALL my financial aid and I needed it in order to stay in school and afford not to have to work 2 jobs. The second time I attempted to finish my degree, not only did the number of classes I previously had left to complete more than double from 11 to 28 [never got any answer on that one] but my graduation date kept getting pushed back! I kept asking when I would be done and NEVER got a straight answer! I felt like I would never finish and was taking courses that I didn't need. A stimulus was sent to my home during Covid; and I had to repay the college the money after they kicked me out of my program for not returning early from an approved hiatus! No one ever knows what's going on or how to answer any questions. My advisor kept getting changed out; and I was sent a scathing letter about my failures as a student. I was harassed at my job for accrued absences in classes I didn't have. No one cared about me as an individual; only that I would be able to pay back the 1300.00 stimulus check that I should not have had to pay back. I cannot get this school to send me a transcript, tell me how many classes I have left or when my graduation date would actually be. I loved attending the classes and adore the professors; but I feel like EU took great advantage of me and left me empty handed, without any answers and a small debt. I would have loved to finish my degree; but I can't seem to find an honest and knowledgeable advisor. Not even the Dean was helpful. No wonder there is so much turnover and less than favorable retention rates..
Unethical money practices.
E.U. has reported to my credit report that I owe them $34, 079.00 to them! I was never told about this money they gave or loaned me. I never received any paperwork, or emails regarding it, so I have absolutely no clue what it is for! I had to withdraw from Everglades University in 2016 because I had reached the full amount I could borrow from student loans! I inquired if the school itself offered in-house financing to help me finish up the last semester of school so I could graduate, but they said they "Do not offer that option". Okay, fine. I get it. I'll just wait until I can secure a private loan. Over the next year E.U. would call me and offer all these "Specials" they are offering for individuals who wanted to finish their degree programs. None of which I ever took! So about 6 months ago I pulled my credit and my score was 537! Why I had no clue. After looking into I saw that Everglades University had reported I owe them $34, 079.00! This has damaged my credit severely. I'm not even sure where to start to resolve this, I do not have any of that paperwork, all of my E.U. files were destroyed when my basement was flooded. Any feed back would be greatly appreciated.
Desired outcome: Resolve Issue/Remove Debt
Over charged/unethical financial handlings
I attended E.U. over the course of several years online to obtain my degree in Alternative Medicine. I finally had to withdraw due to the fact that I had used all my financial aid, and I was not able to get any more aid due to a low credit score. I figured as soon as I was able to go back, maybe a few years later once I got my boys off into elementary school I would see what I can do to return and finish my degree. E.U. would call me EVERY month offering me some "deal" saying they would match this tuition cost or that cost- however I just couldn't do it at the time. So now I have $100, 000.00+ in student loans to pay back and NO degree! Thats absolutely fine, those are my responsibility!
However, I went to get a car not too long ago, and I noticed a charge from Everglades University for $34, 079.00! It says it for a personal loan? I NEVER applied for a personal loan through them. I never received any documentation or calls, nothing mailed to me. And this huge amount is reporting negative on my credit report. I need help, this school has predatory financial policies . All I show on my credit report is a phone # [protected] along with the amount owed.
Desired outcome: Remove debt

Driving my credit scores down with in accurracys
This University is really very good as far as their professors. I learned some very good things from every classs. My biggest problem with this University is that they often lie to students and they encourage students to seek out funding for school strictly based on companies that they control based on a tier schedule. (least likely to approve your student loan vs more likely to approve your application) I was told buy a finacial Aid counselor that the tiers are set up that if you get denied by the first tier loan programs you would automatically be approved by the second tier but you have to apply for three lenders (sallie mae, welssfargo, discover and etc.) and get denied.they will then send you to that next tier of loans. The school would cvvontiously each semester have a academic adviser call me as well as emails to see if they could help me to finish my last year. No i did not ever complete my last year at they school. as the cost was way too great for my pockets. I decided to transfeer my credits into a cheaper program . I then found out that my science credits were lacking labs . My chemistry class had a lab but for some reason the University decide to offer the course and made no mention of how we was supposed to take the labs. The degree I signed up for was Bachelors degree in Alternative medicine that would easily move a student into a Chiropratic degree . In any case the Everglades University show up on my credit report as me owing the University $67, 000
which clearly drives down my scores onmy credit report. When I called the school to verify the accuracy of this debt I was told that I do not owe any money to Everglades University and I was therefore not eligible for their amensty program because I had to owe the school money.
Desired outcome: I have been waiting for the school to resolve the issue with my lack of labs for my sciences and remove the incorrect information from the credit report .
private university
I hope someone will read this. I hope they will take this review very seriously. Do not attend this college. I recommend moving on right after you read this review. Their accreditation aside, Everglades is a complete insult to the many hard-working students out there pursuing a recognizable and worthy degree. I began the process at Everglades as a Construction Management student thinking that I would come out of the program learning something new and better prepared for the work force. This was not the case. Every test was open book with a time allowance that far exceeded that which was necessary to complete said test. You could go through the program never once cracking the book, do the very minimal discussion work, and take their mediocre exam and make straight A's. Let's be honest guys, as difficult as college can be at times... No one wants this. Why not just pay for a degree and call it a day? I eventually wrote a long letter to upper division faculty and was point blank in my accusations. I told them they should be ashamed to put themselves in the same ball park as well respected tenured teaching professionals across the globe.
sacs accredited icuf university
For students looking for a personalized education with small class sizes and innovative programs at a Regionally Accredited ICUF University, you will love Everglades University. The University is comprised of 5 campuses located throughout the state of Florida and each campus is beautiful! The facilities and the faculty are outstanding. The President, Kristi Mollis is a visionary and one of the most accessible Presidents I have ever met. She returns emails and calls to students, visits the campuses and has always been a tremendous leader to the institution. The faculty all have both exceptional credentials but also experience in their fields so the classroom learning is both educational as well as real life. Student satisfaction is very high and completion and graduation rates are positive. Nothing but good things to say about this University based upon facts that are accurate. Would highly recommend this University

financial billing fraud
I started attending Everglades University in May of 2010 with the hopes of receiving a bachelors degree in Alternative Medicine. The program started well but soon after I started to receive charges from the school's financial department for changes in educational fees to miscellaneous charges and fees. Soon, I became unable to continue with the courses because I am a single mother and my children need me first and foremost and I decided discontinue my enrollment at the school. At that time, I informed the administrators of the school and requested, by phone, a copy of my records so I could prepare a plan to pay them back for overdue charges. On October 1st, 2012, I signed and faxed a statement signed by myself and an official "online" signature by Debora Medici, University Registrar for the Online Division with Everglades University for the amount of $1257.00 as well as an official withdrawal letter. I received a phone call stating that the office had obtained my letter and forms and they wished me well. On February 22, 2013, I received an email from Pamela Peterson with the Bursar's Office, stating that my outstanding fee was $3309.45 and this was forwarded to me after I had made plans to begin a payment plan to begin diminishing the original charge of $1257.00. Let me add that this letter was signed by an "N. Davis", a person whom I've never spoken to or done any business with regarding my schooling there. On that same day, I got yet ANOTHER email from Pamela Peterson of the Bursar's Office, for a Ms. Muhummad(clearly not me) for $4400.58. Today I called the school after struggling to reach them for months by leaving phone messages and emails, none of them returned in a timely fashion, and after a 30 min. phone conversation with Tina Huelsman of the Online Bursar's Department, I still have not reached a resolve. She claims that I was sent a letter on November 19, 2012 with an 8 page itemized statement, stating that I now owed the school a total of $4602.00 and now have an outstanding balance of $5593.45! Every time I make an attempt to contact the school in regards to my situation the totals of what I owe for the months that I attended Everglades University has changed. Let me also mention that I have been receiving phone calls from FMS - Financial Management Services and when they call, I am told I owe a total of somewhere along the lines of $3300.00. There is something truly misinforming about this situation and I am making a complaint here and with the Better Business Bureau as well as the U.S. Department of Education in regards to this matter. I want to be done with Everglades University for good but I WILL NOT be swindled out of my hard earned finances to pay for a poorly contrived educational program. I am highly disappointed in the lack of customer service and general care for their students and their well being. I suggest that anyone looking to study with this school, turn and run in the opposite direction as you will most certainly be swindled too!
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
I began attending in 2009 and have a similar experience. I regret ever attending everglades university. Now i just have a lot of financial federal debt to show for my education there with no degree.
Did you ever get your issue resolved? They did the same thing to me and I need transcripts to start college somewhere else. They are refusing to give them to me. I took TWO CLASSES and they are saying I owe them $8000, they lied to me about student loans, would not unenroll me when I asked numerous times. I was in an abusive relationship and had to live in my car and they said I didn't qualify to drop out. wtf? ALSO had the audacity to drop my debt if I would reenroll and finish my degree with them. I would NEVER! They are disgusting.
I am also going through the same thing with that place they call a "school". I withdrew because of all the charges and now they are telling me I owed them 4000 dollars for two courses I did not even take. Their other explanation is that they had to return all the financial aid back to the board of education so now they need to charge me that money. Everglades is the only place that charges students money that had to be returned to the board of education. Greedy much? Did anybody find a way to solve this issue with this "university"?
financial aid
This is an awful way to get educated I attended online at Everglades University for one month, withdrew, which was one class, and now being charged for a whole semester, the financial aid told me it was in the paperwork that if quit I would be billed for the whole semester, I have been since noted permanetly disabled through my doctor, and state and found to be unable to return to school or work. They dont care they still put me in collections for 1200 and all the grant money and loans have been returned to the Department of Education, but they say I owe the school for the whole semester. This is very confusing to me they try to make you sign in online so they get paid, they dont tell you about all the charges a monthly fee of $25 to attend their school online. What a joke. Now I am in collections with them, I dont advise anyone to attend their school as they are only out for the money. The teacher passed me with a D- and that is not passing. I was having problems and no one would help only say I had to finish the semester, but being unable to do that I with-drawled with doctors consent. Now in more debt if anyone can tell me how to fight this please let me know.
all around liars! this school is a scam
Do not go to everglades university unless you want a worthless degree!!! I was in the alternative medicine program at eu for 1 1/2 years. I was lied to from day one by almost everyone at the school, including the former president herself, they are completely money driven and care nothing for the wellbeing of the students. I finally made the choice to...

Everglades University, a.k.a. Keiser University is an online scam pretending to be a revolutionary online college. They are a for-profit school, and are not accredited. They represent to you on the phone that you can pay as you go and set your own schedule, but actually will bill you for an entire semester regardless of how many classes you actually take. This can be around $6, 000 dollars. Even if you withdraw from a class, they will continue to bill you for the remaining classes that you do not take, and then turn your account over for collection years later ruining your credit history.
Don't even consider taking classes here.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
I unfortunately can related to so much of what you have written here. Mirrors parts of my own experience. Especially the financial aid team seemingly working their "magic," to get you a comfortable monthly payment.
I would like to join as well
I'm in... These people are criminals. Period.
I will like to start a class action.
Does anyone want to join to start class action against Everglades University tor finacial aid abuse and over billing? I would love to have enough people to start one against these scam artist! I am sure they can be sued for many more issues as well.
Lets start a class action.
This is a sales organization that happens to sell classes instead of blenders or penny stocks, or any other scam.
It operates with the same ethical standards as you would expect a place that is basically a call center to operate, which is none.
The head guy gets paid millions, yet it is "non-profit, " as is their private jet, of course.
If they call you, hang up and call your local community college, please.
Do yourself a favor and do not even bother applying to Everglades. Learning online is a fine idea, but it’s not something you should pay to do. There is nothing you can learn online from Everglades that you can’t learn for free by simply reading and watching videos. If you’re heart and mind are set on earning a degree online, then find someplace better. Everglades is not good. I worked there for a long time and I know first-hand that it’s not a good place. It is run by the most greedy people you could ever imagine. The faculty members are just ok, but they’re not the best-of-the-best like your admissions adviser will try to tell you. Believe me on that; I hired a bunch of them and I know most of them. They’re mostly great folks, but no better than the faculty of any other school. Heck, most of them teach for other schools too because they’re not paid enough to actually make a living from Everglades.
Why that is the case might make you scratch your head when you consider that a freshman entering Everglades will spend more than $80, 000 just in tuition and fees to earn a degree. That’s online! No dorm. No food. No gym. No classrooms.
It will take 41 months to earn a degree. It’s not an accelerated program and it’s not part-time. It’s all the frickin’ time, year-round for 41 months. You are not permitted to take a semester off, or even a month or two without being “dropped” from the program and having to reapply for admissions. No summer vacation. If you do take time off, you will be hounded by phone calls, emails, and letters telling you that you must come back. That’s when you will truly learn about all the different fees that Everglades has.
It is my sincere hope that you prosper and do well in life. Please know that the statement, “You must have a college degree to get ahead in life.” is one of the biggest myths perpetuated in American Society. You are a child of the most-high God and you are destined for greatness. Don’t get yourself bogged down in the quagmires of the Everglades.
We are all part of the same thing, hurling through the cosmos together, our beginnings and ends well hidden from view. Let's live in peace and stop trying to rip off each other. It is a time of abundance regardless of what you are told. There is plenty for everyone. Peace.
First let me dispel any rumors about accreditation. Everglades is and always has been accredited. As of January 2010 it is SACS accredited. That’s the good part. So don’t let that be an issue for you.
Having been an employee for many years and having recently been fired, or let go as they so eloquently put it… I will now give my opinion of the place. Please understand that much of what I am about to write is indeed my own opinion and based solely on my own observations and experience.
It seems to me that every policy and every decision made by upper management is based on greed and ego, and it seems to me that they want to take as much of your time and money as they can possibly get away with, and then they will still want more… lots more… and when you give them more, it’s not going to be enough… ever.
If you are considering working there, I do not recommend it, even if you are desperate for work. I consider it to be not a happy place. It is a culture of condescending intimidation, ridiculous demands, awful hours, and stupid... really stupid bosses making really stupid decisions daily. The turnover of employees is, well, indescribable. Ask them for yourself. If you’re an academic person, ask who the Dean is. Ask to speak with the Dean. Ask how long the Dean has been there. Ask about the previous Deans (there have been many… many!). Ask how long they stayed. Ask who your Department Chairs will be. Ask how long they’ve been there. Ask what happened to the last one. If you’re applying for a staff position, ask some of the same questions about DoAs and VPs… again, many, many have come and gone. If, when asked, your interviewers are not forthcoming with the information, or if you’re told something that differs from what I’ve just described, then think about it. Make up your own mind about what it might mean.
If you are considering attending, I recommend you to look elsewhere. Again, this is just my opinion; Everglades is not worth its high tuition and outrageous fees. It’s way too expensive. I think the education is mediocre at best, and most classes are really bad.
And now the facts about the tuition and fees:
Tuition: $6, 060 per semester (four classes; no discount for more classes) Soon to go up by 5%
Ed Fees: $800 per semester (what they are for is still a mystery to me and I worked there a long time!)
Books: ~$400-600 per semester (30% markup over list price + $5 per book “handling” + shipping)
There are several other fees involved and they are too numerous to mention here. See page 62 of the EU catalog, which is available at www.evergladesuniversity.edu/catalog
By the way, to my knowledge a link to the catalog is not to be found on the EU website. But now you have it.
So, that brings us to well over seven thousand dollars per 12 credit hour (four class) semester. This is, in my opinion, way too expensive for what you will get. There is nothing offered at the school that you can’t find somewhere else better and for less money.
Have a nice life.
That dean issue is REAL. When i first signed up in 2021 or2020 the Dean at the school was leaving but another one was already inside the door.
I am just now learning of ALL of these things after being with Everglades as an online alternative med student for the past year. I just took a leave of absence due to my work load in REAL LIFE ... Like the work that makes the money to pay my tuition bills which turn out to have not been paying anything. Since taking my leave of absence, EIGHT seperate Federal Student Loan inquiries just showed up on my credit report. Confused, I called the school to ask if they recognized the name or knew what this was about. They say I signed off to this & that I will have to pay them back after I graduate. All along I was lead to believe that I was paying for my tuition out of pocket and getting a great deal. Turns out to be a great STEAL on their part instead. If you total what I have paid out of pocket, "grants," and the fed loans, the classes come out to cost significantly more than my previous bachelors degree at a PRIVATE LIBERAL ARTS COLLEGE.
I can assure you that NO ONE before now/today explained ANYTHING About this to me prior to now. Hence my suspicions rising even further enough to go searching the web and finding these threads...
Once my leave of absence was finalized I was sent odd messages and received an unusually long voicemail from the financial aid dept informing me that if I did not return to school when expected from my leave, I would have a balance due of 7k. Lol excuse me, WHAT?!?!
As others have mentioned, they don't feel like a real school, and I am one of those students whose intention was to go on to a Naturopathic Medicine School.
I was so shook today when I called to see what was up; I learned way more than I wanted to, but God's divine timing and protection are always real and at work.
LESSON LEARNED.
I just dropped out of Everglades University becasue I got accepted to a better school with a better aviation program. Now I am stuck with paying over three thousand dollars in classes I did not take(two classes). The reason being is becauase I have the GI Bill and the way it works is if I don't take the classes then the goverment makes the school pay back the money for the classes I did not take. So my question is if the goverment finds it fair to take money back for classes that I didn't take, then why do I have to pay for them?! This school is a scam! Since I have been attending Everglades we have been through 3 or 4 deans and staff is constantly quiting or resigning. I'm glad that I fianlly opened my eyes and got out of there and decided to go to a school that is actually accredited and has a good reputation. Another point I want to make is that Everglades University is always getting audited so they can keep their accredetation. Also of 54 credits only 10 transfered to my new school. This school is a joke and waste of money. Trust me and go to a school that is well known in your particular industry. So in a nutshell Everglades University is super expensive for the quality of classes you are getting, they are for profit, all they care about is making money! FYI, I use to go to the Everglades University in Sarasota majoring in B.S. Avaition Technology. Which by the way the staff at Everglades compare closely to their other aviation degree Aviation Management.

Same here, minus i didnt have to pay the stimulus back. However, they are refusing to give me my transcript claiming they cannot find my record. Even though they call all the time to harass me to come back. They definitely doing something shady when it comes to financial stuff because I know nothing about that but i can tell you they took out so many loans under my name under the guise that it was "financial aid" and that i will need it in order to pay for the tuition. Luckily, i only did a year or so and my student loan is not as much,
