Sweater
I purchased some clothes from Express online about a month ago. All of my items came with the exception of a sweater. After another week, Express emailed me and said they could not fulfill my order. I figured they oversold it since it was near the holiday. It was no big deal - I know these things happen. However, I was on Express' website a few days later and the sweater was available for purchase at full price (I had originally purchased it on sale for half price). I called Express because I felt that they cancelled my order because they figured the could sell the sweater for full price. The person helping me on the phone said that wasn't the case, but they would re-order the item at the sale price for me. Two weeks later I get the same email that my order could not be filled. I called again to express my disappointment and the person helping me had nothing to say, but "I'm sorry" and " I can re-order it for you." I have no interest in re-ordering and then getting cancelled on again. I am really saddened by this entire experience as I've been shopping at Express for many years. The majority of my clothes are from Express. I don't feel like they deserve my business anymore. I wanted to write this review so others can be aware of how they are currently operating.
$10 reward scam
I tried contacting Express customer service today. I had a $10 reward to use in my cart. When I went to apply the reward to my cart, the site told me that I had to re-login. I did so and when I returned to my cart moments later, the reward was suddenly gone, so I contacted Customer Service via their chat option on their website.
The customer service rep I spoke to proceeded to waste 45 minutes of my time making me repeat myself multiple times about the reward and how it had disappeared from my cart. Then they claimed for roughly 15 minutes that they were "working" on solving the issue for me, leading me to believe that I would simply receive a new $10 reward since my old one was somehow gone in the process, only to return to the Chat and accuse me of never having had the reward to begin with.
Horrible and deceptive customer service, ery delayed in responding to requests, and, ultimately, they were completely unhelpful. For the amount of money their clothes cost, you would think that their Customer Service would be exceptional. It's not. It's terrible and in desperate need of improvement.
All of over a $10 reward. Ridiculous.
Desired outcome: I think I deserve more than my $10 reward at this point, but I doubt I'll even get what I was asking for all along.
Men’s sweater online purchase
Purchased a men's sweater online and picked up at NYC 33rd mall. Only checked the size inside the bag. Once arriving home and trying it on... The sweater was really wrinkled and misshaped. The sweater had clearly been worn and returned. It even smelled of underarm odor! The nerve of passing that on to a customer. Complained and never heard back from the store. Will never shop there again. If that is not horrible customer service, I don't know what is!
Desired outcome: Want my money back...plain and simple!

racist employee on mother's day/ citrus park mall tampa fl
5/13/2018 worst mothers day my mother had, she walked inside the store to purchase a couple of gift for the family with some gift cards I gave her . In the process of purchasing this items she ask one of the employee a question, She looked at my mother with a discuss and told her I don't understand what your are asking me. My mother when and bought some staff and didn't pay attention to the bad service, When walking out the store before leaving the door the same lady stopped her, and accuse her of stealing and open her bag. when over all her personal and also the actual express bag. My mother was dead of embarrassment. My mother has never taken anything in her life from no one. She got home crying and full of anger cause she felt harassed and couldn't do nothing. I will be calling a lawyer and see what my options are so I can escalade the manner that way it doesn't happen to no else.

Order issue
I have purchased two items from this site Express (www.express.com) two weeks ago and about a week ago I received a notification saying one of the items was no longer available. They said they shipped only one item and promised I'll get a partial refund. It is now over a week since their so called promise and still no money. I'm not sure what to expect! As I know it takes few minutes to transfer money from one account to another. Recently when I tried to contact them they did not reply.
Customer service complaint
I ordered a blazer on 11/26 and I paid for 2-day shipping so that I could have the blazer for a wedding ONE WEEK LATER.I called after the 2 days and UPS said I didn't put an apartment number on there (fair enough) so I correct it and wasn't upset.
I called UPS & Express on DAY 4 and they both said the same thing...no apt number...so I corrected it yet again. I called UPS on Friday 12/02 and UPS said the package STILL didn't have an address...so I corrected it yet again...I'm not upset at Express about this, but you needed a back story. This is why I am never shopping at Express again: I called today 12/08 (12 DAYS AFTER I PAID FOR THE BLAZER) and wanted to know why they never corrected my address and why I STILL HAVEN'T gotten my blazer...the woman on the phone blamed me for not changing my address when I did with two different companies. She then said she is returning it to the store, I can have my money in 2-3 WEEKS!
I still wanted the blazer and only asked for my 2-day shipping money back because that seemed fair, she said no. I then asked to speak with a manager. The woman put me on hold, asked for my name/number and checked in with me the first 5 minutes. She left me on hold for 45 MINUTES.
When she came on the phone I did not scream or use any language (I'm in customer service and do not appreciate people who do that). I simply explained my stress and wanted my blazer and 2-day shipping money. She told me UPS LOST the package and no one can find it so I couldn't have my blazer (THE FIRST WOMAN LIED). She said I could have a refund in 3-5 days and then re-order the blazer if I wanted at the price now...
NOT OKAY...We spend a lot of money at this store and I felt like I was tossed from hand to hand. This is not what customer service is suppose to do. I understand it's the holiday season, however, I did not get upset until I was lied to. The amount of stress and worry this whole thing has caused has made me never want to shop at Express again.
I ordered Express clothes for a nice occasion...and elegant occasion because I thought highly of the clothes...this whole thing has caused pain and agony and I am appalled.I will not be lied to anymore.
Terrible service!
I have ordered some clothing from Express online store and receive my order in reasonable time and was very satisfied with the product and its quality. But then I noticed that they charged me twice for the same order and that's when it all started. I immediately contacted customer service and demanded my money back, They claimed that it was not their fault and tat they did not do anything. I said that I can call my bank and get some proofs. Finally they promised me a refund but I never received my money back and now they are ignoring all my messages and it seems like they decided to keep my money and that they do not care about anything!
Awful customer service!
Recently I made an order on Exprees, but that definitely was my last purchase from them! I bought a winter coat and wore it a few times. The description on the site stated that it was made of wool and was very warm, but those were lies and I almost freezed to death! I decided to return it, admitted I had worn it and their rep immediately said that they won’t accept it. Too bad for them! They just lost a customer. I have a large income and really love online shopping. And I was ready to spend thousands of dollars buying from them, but I’ve changed my mind. I would never recommend a purchase from a company that gives customer a hard time when returning.
Overcharged - Multiple Charges
I ordered one single order from www.express.com, they charged my credit card 3 separate times on 3 separate days. When emailed about it they told me there was a 4th pending! They have yet to reverse the charges, they have been given the proof they have over charged me all 3 times, none of the charges add up. DO NOT ORDER ONLINE! Absolutely absurd to be charged over $200 for a $70 order! I repeat, DO NOT ORDER ONLINE FROM EXPRESS!

Watch out for sales at Express. Original price for a sweater is 39.50. They tag it as 44 dollars and pull the 39.50 tag before posting a 50% off sign.
Quality of merchandise
My complaint seems to be different from everyone else's. I've always had pretty good customer service at multiple locations and I don't have their credit card. My issue with them is that they have changed. I have loved express forever and been a very loyal customer but their clothes suck now! They are so cheaply made. They were the only jeans I would buy because the quality was so fantastic, now the material is so thin but they still want to charge the same price. Also, every pair of jeans do not need to have so much stretch! People like variety in their wardrobe. I used to never have a problem going in an express and finding something I wanted. The problem would be trying to cut myself off because I wanted everything in the store! Now I find most of the clothes so cheap and some hideous I end up leaving disappointed, frustrated, and empty handed.
Today 4/30/11 I stoped to get gas at the Express gas station.The price was 3.99 and was charged 4.00 for .999 gallons.
When you pull up to the pump and it says 3.99 it should say 3.999 which is pretty much 4.00 a gal. I will say that it is 9ths of a cent more toward the next cent. Its not the cashiers fault and its not even the stores... ITs our goverment that had allowed us to get this far in debt.. THE PEOPLE THAT WORK AT THESE STORES SHOULD NOT BE TREATED LIKE WE ARE MAKING ANY MORE OFF THE PUBLIC...WE ALSO HAVE TO PAY WHAT YOU PAY...

I ordered 6 items from express.com and submitted my order on 1/6/11. Later on, I checked my email at 7:20am. I got a confirmation email from express.com. According to the email, it listed the detail of these 6 items; however, the total price was wrong. I wrote an email to express.com to check my order. I got two responses back from two different customer service specialists. Yes, two emails were exactly the same words except signatures. I was told me 4 out of 6 items had been cancelled. I decided to cancel my order. I wrote the email back and asked for help. Well, there were another two different customer service specialists worte to me. Unfortunately, I coundn't cancel my order. I called expess customer service. There was a lady named "Sharry" told me. The person left already. She would leave a note to cancel the order. Since I hadn't got cancel notification from express. I made a phone call to express customer service to check my order. I was really upset. I was told my order did not get cancel. It had been shipped out.
I'm really angry. It's the 2nd time happening. Many items had been sold out; however, the system still took the orders from customers. I tried to stop the order within 8 hours. Express didn't let me do it. Sigh! What is my customer rights? Who can help me?
I'm confused, 4 out of 6 items were cancelled, so 2 items shipped? Didn't you check the total price before accepting the charges. Why don't you just return the merchandise once you receive it, its self explanatory.
Treats SOME of their employees with NO RESPECT
I worked at an Express store in Cherry Hill, NJ from October 2008 until August of 2009. It was the absolute worst working experience I've ever had. From the very first day, the managers and other employees did a horrible job with training (even though it doesn't take much knowledge to do this job).
As far as management goes, they were condescending and did not treat everyone equally. You were only treated fairly if you looked like the Express models. Another issue I had was with a female manager. I was on register ringing up customers and she was next to me doing the same. She was talking to a customer and she said that it was "such a shame" that someone she knew bought size "large" shirts at Express. I found this incredibly offensive, ignorant and rude. I wear a large in most of Express's tops and she had the nerve to say this right next to me. How can somebody be so ignorant and judgmental and be in a management position?
Another major issue I had was with an employee meeting. I had told a manager as soon as the note was posted that we had a meeting (on a sunday) that I had a memorial mass for my grandmother that same day and that I would not be able to attend the meeting because of this mass. The manager told me that it was no excuse and that "other people are missing mass so you're no exception". I was appalled by this behavior and their expectations. When I was written up they had claimed that last minute I skipped the meeting and did not give enough notice or had a good enough excuse.
After a while the General Manager started harassing me. He told me that I didn't "look like" I should work there (although nearly all of my clothes came from the store), that I didn't "walk right", that I needed to "do something about my face", that customers find me "unattractive and unappealing to even ask for help or come up to me". I don't see why he had the right to say this because I have had 5 years experience working with customers (I worked at two different movie theaters where customer service was a huge part of my job and I was told by my superiors and customers that I did an excellent job with this). I feel that I made customers comfortable to approach me and I was very helpful and knowledgeable about the stores product (especially since I shopped there before I started working there). The GM eventually "demoted" me to work in the stockroom because I didn't "have the Express look", which is BS because I shop there for a lot of myclothes. Although, I didn't mind working in the stockroom until I found a new job. There were many times when he brought me to tears on the floor in front of customers because he was yelling at me when I was doing everything I could to do my job
As far as other employees go, like I said there were cliques and groups. I felt un-accepted and uncomfortable around my coworkers. There was one instance where an employee referred to me in front of customers and other employees as "that fat b****". There were many times when I was shopping for clothes for myself and certain coworkers in the dressing room told me that I looked horrible in what I was trying on.
I had a friend (who I have known since I was about 2 or 3 years old) who also got a job at Express a few weeks after me. I feel that the GM had targeted her and I as subjects of harassment. There have been times when my friend was sent home because her outfit "did not reflect the express look", when she was clearly wearing multiple pieces from the store. There were also multiple occasions where I had customers come up to complain to me, in the front of the store, because they had seen the GM yelling at her and making her cry in front of customers in the middle of the floor.
I dealt with this unfair treatment for 10 months until I found another job. I would never recommend for anyone to work here. Unless you look like an Express model, you will not be treated fairly or with respect.

I currently work at Express and I also must say that the Managers are very bias. The people whom they like get the best of everything and NEVER get written up. Another bad thing about working at Express are the hours. I NEVER LEAVE ON TIME! They schedule you basically no hours and then when you want to leave on time they get an attitude and get mad at you for following the schedule. I appreciate my job to the fullest, but theManagers really need some more training. I never had any formal training when I started either. They give you a board and tell you to find your way.

I'd also like to add that management, especially the GM, forced employees to bombard the customers as soon as they walked into the store. This makes customers feel uncomfortable and less willing to shop in the store again. I refused to treat customers this way and simply offered my help when they walked into the store, once more if they were browsing for a long time and when they left thanked them and said to have a nice day. This was not enough for the GM. He wanted us to follow the customers around, put together outfits for them without having them ask.
One time two young men (in their 20's) walked into the store. As soon as they walked in I said "Hi how are you guy's doing?" They smiled and responded and I let them shop in peace. They looked like they were having trouble picking out ties and button up shirts so I asked them if i could help with anything. I showed them some shirt and tie combinations with different colors, they thanked me for my help and they proceeded to choose one of the combos I helped them with. As soon as I walked over to the front to wait to greet more customers the GM comes over to me and yells loudly at me that I am not doing my job. He goes over to the two young men and says "Listen, SHE (points to me) isn't doing her job so if you need help make sure you ask me or someone else". It was extremely embarrassing and the customers looked like they were extremely uncomfortable. The customers even came up to me and said that I was doing a good job and thanks alot for my help
Disrespectful, egotistic, worsome, hypocritical managers
