I am in need of emergency assistance:

I’ve been put into a horrible situation and have had some extreme set backs and difficulties recently leading me to seek the only refuge I could at an extended stay hotel in Long Beach, California. Yesterday I was assaulted by the manager of this location and locked out of my room. This led to law enforcement becoming involved who explicitly stated it was unlawful to lock me out, this morning I am once again locked out and all morning after being up all night long in fear the staff banged on my door. I’ve written a notice and report and sent it to all corporate and district managers of this location as I’ve also spent all day trying to obtain the correct telephonic contacts for said person to no avail. I have also not received any type of response from anyone I’ve written to which is over 7 people in charge of Extended Stay America. Yesterday was ergrregious and I suffered assault, humilation, intimidation at the handsd of a Manager Patricia Obert here at the Long Beach Extended stay.. This is in addition to the extreme misconduct and negligence exhibited by the staff, the unsafe inhabitable living conditions, the negligence to exercise reasonable care, failure to properly maintain the property and facilities, unlawful evictions, threats, harrasment, building code violations, intimidation, the negligent use of hazardous chemicals, lack of security, unsafe premises, dangerous and illegal activity and ADA violations that have directly impacted me and my family and has resulted in irreparable harm and damage. I am medically diagnosed with both PTSD and C PTSD which is complex post traumatic disorder, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Debilitating Anxiety, and Panic Disorder. I have suffered great, severe and unforeseeable hardships recently and what I've experienced at my short but seemingly too lengthy stay here at the Long Beach Extended Stay America has created and caused additional irreparable harm, I have reached out seeking immediate intervention and remedy to no avail.

Due to the fact I lost my home of a near decade and have been financially drained from the legal process I’ve had to use this hotel to store many of my most important belongings. I am currently in the room however once I leave I am locked out and my belongings are trapped. I also have two dogs.

STATEMENT OF FACTS:

On December 11, 2023, Ms. Obert launched a vicious verbal, emotional, and mental attack and aggressively attempted to illegally force me out of the Long Beach Extended Stay location. I am appalled at the treatment I received and the clear negligence this corporation exhibits in hiring its staff. Although I had already aimed to contact the corporation for a few days in regards to the many unhabitable, dangerous and illegal conditions and activity at the property, I now unfortunately bring this forth with the addition of the incident yesterday evening. When I merely asked for assistance getting into my room, Ms. Obert began screaming at me and denied me entry and didn’t even disclose what the issue was for sometime. She stated a payment had not been made however she didn’t ask for payment, she didn’t explain why my card was not charged whether it was declined or if I was to bring a new card, she didn’t give me an opportunity to remedy any issue or discrepancy, she simply and immediately began her intimidation campaign willfully aware of my previous traumatic experiences and fears. She simpy and willfully proceeded with her abusive tirade in the lobby, threatening me with eviction and hurling false accusations. I was utterly humiliated as other guests stared. Additionally with a great deal of recent harassment and stalking, she hurled personal information throughout the hotel for all to hear in complete violation of my right to privacy.

Ms. Obert menacingly hollered false allegations at me, jabbing yelling derogatory and defamatory things at me. I tried to reason with her and get her to communicate as a professional for what felt like forever as she continued to berate and threaten me.

I could have not foreseen a woman of that professional capacity assaultig me in such a manner. I was shaking and felt physically threatened when she blocked me from entering my room. Her assault continued even after I was reduced to tears and obvious fear. She triggered my CPTSD, I feared for my safety, my dogs, my property, and my life.

Upon asking for the corporate number to file a complaint Ms. Obert spitefully laughed in my face. She continued to refuse entry. I had no choice but to suggest I’d be contactign law enforcement. She then maliciously called law enforcement herself and lied to police in an attempt to have me arrested or physically removed from the property, treating me like a crimninal when it is evident by way of my body language I had absolutely no intent of harm. My life and family is far more valuable than any retaliation against this egregious behavior however I was absolutely terrified of this woman. I still am. Her vicious attacks have left me traumatized, anxious, and afraid for my safety. I ran to the room of a long term guest in tears. She came out to speak to Ms. Obert which resulted in yet another screaming battle. I myself have the interaction recorded both on audio and video.

This womans’ harassment, defamation, discrimination, and outright assault constitutes multiple civil offenses. Her abusive misconduct is completely unacceptable for someone charged with overseeing hotel operations and staff. This woman was assaulting me and as a woman myself who worked at the Marriott for many, many years, the negligence in hiring this woman is nothing short of appalling. This was not my first incident with this woman and it’s by far not the first I've witnessed with others.

Upon speaking to the officer that showed up at the scene he acknowledged Ms. Obert falsely represented the situation. He was wearing a body camera and I've already requested the footage through the Freedom of Informaiton Act.

I’ve been a guest at the Long Beach property since on or around November 4, 2023. Not by choice, As a single mother with a special needs child and having just lost my home, this hotel was my only refuge. I’m a professional photographer and am lucky and grateful enough to have had a client assist me in securing this temporary refuge as I navigate this situation. As I have been at this property, I have gone above and beyond to improve the dismal state of this property, including extensive planting and gardening and cleaning none of which is in my scope or duties, and all of which your staff negligently ignored therefore I felt compelled to address.

By now around this hotel it is well known Ms. Obert is predjudiced and discriminaroy. Upon research I've found this location was one that provided homelessness assistance. I do understand that can bring upon many issues but not all those who are protected under the ADA or the past Covid moritoriums are participating in illegal behavior nor are bad and are owed fair and equal access and opportunity. I indeed have had a fair share of difficulties however I am an established wedding photographer of nearly 15 years in a very lucrative professional field, I am ethical, a hard worker, dedicated and simply navigating a difficult situation that has also left me severely traumatized. I have disabilities that fall under the americans with disabilities act, I have an ADA certified service dog (i’ve been being charged for) the beautiful 3 bedroom home I lived in for a near decade was being foreclosed on for my landlord which created and abrupt move and a 20k check was stolen from my mailbox. All issues are under investigation by the county of Los Angeles or are in litigation. I am consistently at my computer in my room here at the extended stay working on legal matters keeping to myself.

Instead of assistance and compassion, Ms. Obert chose to unleash her rage and engage in an illegal, traumatic campaign to have me forcefully removed. I believe this is in retaliation to me asking for the number to corporate weeks ago and when she asked if she could assist me I stated, “ You could have and I tried but you were rude to me”. Her actions along with the forgoing have left me experiencing severe anxiety, loss of sleep, trauma symptoms, and living in constant fear for my safety. I was rendered homeless and panicked at the prospect of losing everything I own and I now face that again due to the negligence of staff of this property.

Despite the severe inhabitable conditions at this property I have been left with very few options and was simply trying to get through the holidays in attempts at spending the first Christmas with my son in 3 years. I had no intention of not providing payment. In fact, last week I went to the front desk to speak to Madeline due to fraud on my account. The bank stated they’d mail me a new card but keep the current one open until it was received. I notified Madeline there may be an issue with my card but to notify me I can pull out cash. She stated everything was fine. Ms. Obert wouldn’t hear anything I had to say. She is not fit to be in the general public let alone in the position she is in in Customer Service. My understanding is the corporation is more than aware and the negligence in any intervention is causing not only myself and other guests harm but this entire corpoartion.

In addition to the unlawful eviction attempts, I experienced direct harm from Extended Stay's negligent use of hazardous chemicals. On multiple occasions, I was exposed to the toxic pesticide Raid being sprayed in excessive amounts. The overpowering chemical fumes caused me to suffer headaches, nausea, breathing difficulties, and other symptoms. My dogs too have difficulties breathing due to this.

Raid contains dangerous chemicals like cypermethrin, prallethrin, and imiprothrin that are known to be toxic with prolonged exposure. As a guest, I have a right to accommodations free from dangerous toxic pesticide levels. Extended Stay showed willful disregard for my health and safety by saturating the premises with Raid instead of safer pest control methods. The Hotel's negligent chemical exposure can cause lasting health impacts. I myself have had to purchase my own industrial bug spray to avoid the toxic chemicals and the disgusting infestations that will cause severe damage for time to come.

Upon finally getting a working key card, I proceeded to my room and took my dogs out. Thereafter we simply sat in my car in tears for hours, fearful of entering the hotel. I contacted the number provided to me weeks prior alleged to be the district manager and it connected to another location where I spoke to a kind front desk receptionist that took my information.

When I arrived back in the room after knowing Ms. Obert would have left by that time, my internet was cut off. Again, this is unlawful and unacceptable. I fear being in this room, I fear taking my dogs out for a walk. I am a respectful human and it is beyond me she chose me to threaten, harass, and harm. I’ve been through enough. I have been through hell and back due to the pandemic and or enforced fulls and situations due to it.

Ms. Obert and the hotel are in willful and clear violation of multiple laws, codes, building codes and ordinances including but not limited to:

California Civil Code 1940.1 - requiring 60 days notice for guests after 30 days

Assault/Threats - California Penal Code 240 PC

Furthermore, the unsafe and unlivable conditions at this property constitute negligence and breach of habitability laws. I have evidence of cockroaches, bed bug, and other insect infestations, non-working appliances, ADA violations, rampant crime, and an insecure facility.

I am seeking immediate remedy, mediation, intervention or just compensation to immediately relocate.
