Poor product
I’m only giving it a two since it is the only streaming service that provides NESN, PAC 12 LA and Red Zone. It’s programming weakness is not having ESPN. I’m borrowing a log in from a family member.
First off if you have a problem Fubo customer service is nonexistent. I waited on hold for an hour. I gave up and requested a call. Three days later no one has made contact via phone or email. I live in Boston. I’m getting Bay Area stations. No, I’m not on a VPN. Of course my trial went fine. The problems started the day after I paid. It also tells me I’m not connected to the internet when I am.
Tonight I watched my first sporting event on Fubo. Did you know most of the networks transmit at 30 fps. 60 FPS is normal. 30 is sub standard. 30 fps causes a fractured effect to the picture for fast moving objects like baseballs, football, pucks, etc.. Movement is faster than Fubo can process it. If it’s bad for following a football it must be brutal following a puck.
I’ve recorded three shows. Two of them were delayed and pushed back in time. Fubo recorded the time slot not the show. So I didn’t get my requested shows.
I used PS Vue until they dumped NESN. I used You Tube TV until I wanted to get Red Zone for the fall. Fubo s features are far inferior to PS Vue and You Tube TV.
Since I’ve paid for the month I’m hoping I can visually adjust to the inferior Fubo picture and make it through the football season. But, at worst after the football season I’m going back to You Tube TV.
Clever retro simulation of cable tv in the 90s
Update :
See developer response below. I don't agree with any of it.
Recording limits are still arbitrary and restrictive for no logical reason. Connection speed recommendations are not relevant. If I get great quality from Netflix, HBO and NBC Gold then it's fair to assume poor image quality is Fubo's problem not mine. The offer of a 7 day free trial says nothing about new members only, I was charged immediately without being advised of this.
This game has everything you remember from the bad days of cable and more.
expense - over $40 a month for basic package plus cycling.
random collection of channels you don't care about.
retro unsearchable program guide
no on demand viewing of sports events. Instead you must 'record' them on your 'virtual DVR'
baffling DVR limitations -
Subscribers are rationed 3 DVR slots. You can't even buy more if you want to.
Delete a program in a slot and it is instantly gone forever.
No time to watch your recording? Better hurry up, they expire after a few days.
No ability to watch recordings in progress.
No ability to watch DVR programs on the AppleTV or Roku apps.
want to watch cycling live instead? The video stream bit rate is so poor it is close to unwatchable.
7 day free trial? Maybe, but they billed my card on day 1.
All in all, an accurate simulation of how bad things got, unfortunately it's just not much fun. Unless you desperately want to watch their exclusive content stay away.
Poor quality, horrible billing management, but great marketing
I downloaded this app on the 12 of October because I wanted to watch soccer games from bein international. So I decided to give it a shot, and I started my "free trial", and if you decided to stick with it they would only charge you $19.99 for the first two months. Good deal right? ... The first two days the quality was great and I liked the other channels that it offered that were not aired on PS Vue. But when it came to game day and I was ready to watch my first match the quality tanked, and the feed froze mores times that I could count before the end of the first half. So I decided to cancel the subscription just two days after I downloaded it(keep in mind, I'm within the 7 day trial run period). Then I come to realize that I was billed $20 more than the advertised special, but the most important fact here is that I was BILLED WITHIN THEIR 7-DAY FREE TRIAL PERIOD!
Honestly, I'm happy to be back using Vue, cause it actually works! But I will never give this a try again
All in all, they're just too much hype behind this great concept. But it suffers from poor management. Honestly, they should consider allocating some of their funds away from the airtime advertisements and more into trying to fix the quality of their service, and maybe properly train some competent people to manage their billing department.
P.S: if you are considering upgrading your internet speed to fit their "requirements", please know that I have 100mbps internet service( the fastest internet quality I can get) and the feed was still horrible. So don't bother.
Garbage, but it’s the only app that streams NESN
I can’t wait to end my subscription the second the Stanley Cup is over.
The navigation is so unintuitive, and there’s no visual or skip-30-seconds or anything toguide you when fast-forwarding through commercial breaks. It’s like I went back to the days of recording shows on a VCR.
Also if you’re watching something live, you can pause it... but if you switch channels, it won’t remember where you paused and just brings you back to live. Other apps take the pause command as a hint to record, so you have the option to watch something else for a while and then resume from where you left off. Fubo’s pause function is only good for quick bathroom breaks.
The app only records “series” if they have an identical title every week, so for sports I can’t just say “record all the Bruins games” the way I can on YouTubeTV. Instead, I have to manually record every game, one at a time every few days as the TV guide schedule can only see about 2-4 games into the future.
I have missed the end of SO MANY GAMES because the DVR stops recording the second a game runs longer than the scheduled slot. Which happens ALL THE TIME. How do you not know how to record an entire game? And more importantly, what’s the point of even recording a game if I can’t see the ending?
Overall, this app is like a poor man’s YouTubeTv but for the same inflated price. I hate it every time I use it, and every time I hear my husband curse at the TV from the other room, I automatically know it was Fubo’s fault. I’m only here because there’s literally no other way to stream all the NHL games.
Best of the best
I’ve tried every notable streaming service imaginable. Sling Tv, DirecTV Now, Hulu Live, YouTubeTV, and even Philo.
SlingTV - The Ugliest UI of them all, wasn’t impressed. Had numerous issues with the DVR.
DirecTV Now - Constant price hikes and shuffling of the more interesting channels into upper tiers. DVR is limited, has been in beta for nearly 3 years, and is lackluster.
Hulu Live - Probably my second fav behind FuboTV. However there is an upcoming price hike and it offers less channels than FuboTV and less DVR time for a higher price. I also had to pay extra for Philo to supplement missing channels.
YoutubeTV - Missing too many channels I enjoy.
FuboTV - Offers the most channels for the best price. Enough that I was able to cancel Philo since I didn’t need to supplement it like other platforms. They provide hundreds more hours of DVR time for generally the same price as other platforms. Another thing to note is FuboTV hands down has the best AppleTV app by miles. Beautiful to look at, Easy dvr access, easy favorites, and one feature I love is to watch two shows at once side by side with the ability to quickly swap which channel outputs audio. Performance is also buttery smooth. Their design, development, and product teams have outdone themselves.
My one tip to the FuboTV team: You market yourself as the Streaming service for Sports lovers which is probably a disservice to all your hard work. I’m not a sports fan so I overlooked this service for a long time. I’d imagine I’m not the only one. I was pleasantly surprised to find that this was easily my favorite streaming tv provider.
Keep up the awesome work!
Do not sign up! Experienced client!
Ive had fubo for a few years now and i gotta say the longer i keep it The more i cringe my teeth in anger . I don’t know where to start . Maybe the fact that over the years they took channels away but never seemed to drop the price or at least reach out to let you know that these Channels will be no more..I had gotten this app for the way it promoted soccer ,i am a huge fan and i got a lot of games from a lot of teams i enjoy. But then slowly they started taking bien sports away, altitude sports ,tnt . These are just a few of the ones I’ve managed to catch. And what would upset me is that they would still advertise those games knowing they didn’t have access to them anymore. Channels gone but still have to pay the same amount for basically for me to be able to watch 1 out of my 3 personal fav teams that i specifically paid for the certain package for. Then at first the app was good fast everything loaded . But now its so hard to load anything sometimes . Wifi works the best obviously . But when you start to get the ‘looking for your video” captions while ON WIFI then your in for a whirl wind . It’s upsetting . I can run everything else .Netflix ,YouTube . Everything works fine! Now i know live tv is different but my other live tv app that i have committed too now works perfect on wifi!
And here i was staring endlessly on to my tv screen hoping to resume watching the first leg of Real Madrid vs man city that was abruptly ended at the start of the second half . And all i had to do was just leave fubo literally! I will not miss it! By the way the games about over and still nothing has loaded !Fubo with a capital F!
Flawed app. To many issues
Really want to like this app. But it’s got deal breaker issues. It hangs up. A lot. Every day multiple times a day. Does it on all tv in my house. We have a 1 g fiber optic internet service. Only have issues with this streaming app. Multiple other streaming apps run without issue. The guide is the worst part of the app. First off it’s dated looking and it uses like a dated guide. To many steps to do things. But the worst part of the guide is it hangs a lot and often returns a info not available error message. That’s unacceptable. Period. Every time I try to access the guide after being on any channel for a length of time it can’t locate any information. Blank guide with no info and it just sits there searching. Have to exit the app completely to get off the frozen guide that has no info. Unacceptable. Period. Live tv service without a working channel guide is a deal breaker. Unless support has a solution and I doubt they do I will have to seek another service. Also often when starting a program or starting to watch a recording the sound starts and it’s sometimes several minutes before the video starts. Sometimes the video dosent start at all and again I have to completely exit the app to get things to work. Again unacceptable. Period. It’s a daily struggle to use this app and the live tv service. It dosent matter if it’s cheaper than cable if it dosent work. And one other thing I personally don’t agree with is not stating that all 4K content is limited to sporting events. On the pages where one signs up and selects service the 4K plus option does not state it’s only on select sporting events. That should be clearly stated. I really hope there is a fix as I don’t want to go back to cable but it’s got to work when it’s asked to work.
In middle of hurricane and major fire, they still charge me even after contacting them via email
At this moment unless they "Pono" hawaiian for make right, I would not ever use this service even for free trial! I live Lahaina,Maui, Hawaii and in the midst of a Cat 4-5 hurricane hitting the islands in which I, in an email, explained to them on the 6-7th day of free trial since I thought had gone thru iTunes and hadn't, it was borderline trial ending period, what had transpired as well as what was happening and why delay on canceling a service that honestly was unwatchable anyway and if they could kindly rectify since I was in the middle of a cat 5 hurricane and still I tried to cancel properly. Might I add, as I was doing my part to correctly cancel service in required time limit my end, a fire had just started not far from where I stay and if haven't read/seen nor heard of the lahaina fire the other day, I was at the center of where it began and rapidly spread faster than I could blink an eye. I just finally checked bank account and to my utter amazement, these people actually took the money out of my account knowing what was happening and sent me some email about being happy to cancel my order at end of September! Ah hello, I asked for them to take into consideration that I may be just a few hours delayed on canceling the trial script and these people still charged me! Way to go Fubutv! In the midst of a major crisis nearly major devastating fire and you can't have enough compassion to not charge me.
Now should they actually return my funds like a decent company would, I'd change this review. Until then 1 star is too much. Now another hurricane heading towards Hawaiian islands and after the tourists have taken up lots of local supplies that money can surely be used for what's happening possibly yet again! Have a heart man.
DO NOT BUY
I thought this app would be great, and by all appearances it was. However, I tried to watch an entire NFL game and after 3 hours it stopped showing the game and began playing the next scheduled show, so I missed the best part of any game... the ending. I was extremely upset by this but cooled off and was going to give it another month because what the app offers is great.
Again though, i was extremely disappointed. I began watching one of the movies the app offers and it worked great...until there was 20 minutes left in the movie. It froze and then inexplicably started the movie over and I could not fast forward back to where I was. Again I was extremely upset and disappointed.
The third and final straw confirmed what I feared from the beginning. This app is a scam. I tried to watch a baseball game and in the bottom of the 8th inning the time allotted for this game ran out and it just froze. Again, I missed the ending to a very exciting game.
It might seem dramatic to say that this app is a scam. I however, I think the claim is appropriate considering that they market the app to people like me, claiming that I can watch all the sports I want. If FUBOTV were being honest with their customers they would say something like “watch NFL games to the middle of the 4th quarter” or “watch MLB games to the bottom of the 8th.” I could go on about terrible experiences I’ve had with the app. This seems to me to be borderline criminal to pay 45-50 dollars a month to watch TV only to have the things you want to watch cut short and you’re left hanging in your living room wondering how the game, show, or movie ended. A quick summary for potential customers don’t spend your money on this, it’s not the answer to expensive dish or direct tv. To FUBOTV earn my business back and fix this.
not good for what i need
i signed up for fubotv as a football (soccer) fan as a means to follow my favorite spanish team as they are exclusively shown in the U.S through BeinSports which i do not have included in my cable package. at the time, it was $17.99 a month thru the spanish plan, i was able to watch all the UCL matches, and had access to the french and german leagues as well. my experience with fubo during this time was decent. my only issue was connectivity, but that’ll be a topic i touch on in just a moment. once the great pandemic of 2020 hit, and thus paused all live sports, i canceled fubo in order to save some money. fast-forward a few months later and my favorite sport is set to return—but fubo has increased their price, for essentially the same package, to $29.99 with nothing to justify the price hike other than additional channels that i don’t even want/need/use. i took the offer up out of desperation but YIKES the connectivity this app has is unbearable. matches pause and infinitely buffer, never to resume. i often have to close the app, reopen, and then try to scroll to where i last remember being. i’ve had many match scores spoiled this way. and it’s like this app knows: if it’s a big match and there’s a player about to score a goal, the stream will pause to buffer or the quality will degrade so much it’ll look like a scene straight out of roblox, just as the player is about to score! very frustrating. by the time the stream resumes or clears up, all the players are hugging and celebrating and i’m trying to figure out what the hell just happened. oh and don’t blame this on my wifi or network. this happens whether i’m on a network, off of it, near the wifi modem or not. i WILL cancel fuboTV, but this time will opt for slingTV before i consider giving fubo another chance. not enough quality for the price i’m paying
Not worth $64 a month, lacks features!
— Every movie I’ve searched for, I haven’t found. Why bother with the search function if it doesn’t find anything?
— When I set it to download an entire series, including reruns, it downloaded nothing! Why offer if you can’t do it?
— I was able to find one show that I had searched for, but it did not have all seasons available just the third season. I wanted to see the earlier seasons that I hadn’t seen yet. Not possible. Why bother to offer the series if you can’t offer the WHOLE series? It’s time to let me download it but never did.
— It did download things that I had scheduled, but nothing that I had found.
— Closed captioning will not stay set, I constantly have to reset it every time I open the app, or come back to what I was watching.
— I require the ability to rewind within a show because I’m ADHD and miss things, I need to go back to find out what just happened or to verify WHO just changed clothes, because I also have prosopagnosia (face blindness) and have trouble following characters who look the same. Most of the shows do not allow this.
— Very frustrating to be watching a movie, or to request continue watching one, only to have it start a lot further back than where I left off, and I can’t fast forward past what I’ve already seen.
— Cannot skip advertisements. That’s why you record things! So you don’t have to sit through a half hour of timewasting stupidity!
— Cannot find any way to cancel the trial. There is no cancel option anywhere. I do not wish to continue with this, I’ve only been on it for 3 days and I am trying to cancel it before it charges me something I really cannot use, because I can’t find what I want, I can’t record what I want, and I can’t rewind or skip anything.
This app will piss you off. I’m sticking to my Amazon prime video. So far I’m not exhausted my watch list on that one. This one has only 3 items in my watchlist... and I’ll be done with that by tomorrow.
The app is simply not good
My one star review had nothing to do with the television content or customer service, but instead the functionality of the app and the price.
Here is a list of just some of the issues:
- The DVR cannot be set to record a series
Example: You would have to manually set the app to record The Tonight Show every night
- The storage size of the cloud DVR is very small, greatly limiting the number of programs you can retain
- Further, programming which is going to be recorded in the future is included as a part of the DVR cloud storage, meaning your DVR could be completely full even if you have no recordings actually saved at the time.
- you cannot watch TV programs while you are recording them, meaning you cannot enjoy the benefits of the DVR with live programming
- The price is higher than competitors who have better software technology
- the schedules of future programming does not look forward far, only a week or so, which is below industry standard
- search results will not include items that should be included
Example: I searched "champion", looking for the UEFA football/soccer champions league, yet it did not return as a result. When I located it manually, the television program clearly had champion right in it's name, meaning it should have been returned as a result.
Ultimately, this app was forced into release when it shouldn't have been. The Fubo brand is ruined in my mind now and as a result I will likely never return to this service. I feel bad for the employees of this company, and maybe even the VCs finding the thing.
On a more positive note, once watching a program, the navigation was fairly easy and smooth, though I found myself have to click my Apple TV remote two or three times every time I jumped forward or back in a program. Also, streaming quality issues were minimal, but that may have more to do with Apple's app developer kit for the Apple TV than Fubo.
Lastly, my recommendation is to stay away. It is likely that most of these reviews are fake or paid (which Apple should be getting rid of), so just trust the facts above or you'll be thoroughly disappointed.
And if you're a Fubo employee, run for the hills! This venture is on the path of failure!
Fubo TV lying to customers in USA
When will Fubo TV fix their problem of being unable to live broadcast soccer games in English for customers in U.SA. ?
Fubo TV advertises their app that all live soccer games are in both English & Spanish … which is a lie. There are many many live soccer games ONLY in Spanish ! If you speaks Spanish, don’t even bother to pay extra $ for Latino or Spanish package because you can watch almost all the soccer games in Spanish for free !
We have called customer service many times for last 6 months. All the answers are standard like from a recording robot : Our games are in both English & Spanish. I said : No, why don’t you go check on this live game right now, where is the English channel ?! Then customer service agent answered : Oh, that’s right. There’s no English channel for this game. I will let my company know about this issue …which sounded like another standard recording reply from a robot. Nobody at Fubo TV really cares about your issue getting resolved or not. Nobody sent you the update or follow-up for the issue you told them. Nobody felt sorry about the bad service they offered from Fobo TV .
Why do they force customers in U.S.A. to watch live soccer games in Spanish ? Isn’t English supposed to be default setting for American customers ? What’s wrong with Fubo TV ? Fubo TV, do not pretend that you don’t know you have this issue. Stop emailing me this hypocritical reply : If you have any other question, please contact with our customer service. Your customer service agents are not well trained and cannot even give a reason why American customers are forced to watch many big soccer games in Spanish ?!
As far as my research, I guess Fubo TV is obviously too cheap to pay Bein Sport for broadcasting live soccer games in English. They lie to its customers “ you can watch all live soccer games in English.” All they need is your fee for subscription.
P.S. If you are a serious soccer fan, you need to pay extra for la Liga games (no guarantee they are in English) They don’t live broadcast all the games from English premium league. They don’t live broadcast all the games from French ligue 1. They have only a few games from serie A Italy. The bigger soccer game it is, the bigger chance they don’t live broadcast it in English. It must be something to do with the money they pay for the channel.
Almost there but, not yet
Fubo TV is a unique service that provide you with a multitude of channels for a very reasonable price per month. In addition, you also get 1000 hours of DVR. The sound and video quality are good, but it’s sometimes glitches, and produces a pixelated image. Also, sometimes you get a frozen picture, and a screen which is darkened. You then must restart the app in order to cure the problem. Additionally, the DVR lacks significant features which are very frustrating at best. There is no ability to extend the recording of a program, such as a sporting event, by any amount of time and the DVR app does not do so on its own. For instance, if you are recording a hockey game and it goes a little further than the normal time Period at the end of the game, you will wind up missing the end of the game each and every time. With every other service that I’ve ever had a DVR on, such as Optimum, the ability to extend the recording by 15, 30 or one hour for the series that you are recording, or for the individual program, is extraordinarily intelligent. This is a very frustrating lack of feature, which is completely lacking in this app. Furthermore, you can’t even give them feedback, because that doesn’t work either. Without the ability to extend a recording on a series or for a particular program, it makes the DVR practically useless, unless you record both the program you want to, and one or two programs after it just to make sure you can watch the whole game. Then, unfortunately, your game is in two different recordings, without continuity. Please It is a shortsighted app with a great product that needs to be addressed. You will always need to have the ability to extend the recording on a series for 15, 30 or even an hour, if it’s a sporting event with an overtime. Makes little to no sense, to have a DVR, and not be able to automatically have the program recorded in full. For instance, if you watch a hockey game, it always cut off the game with 3 to 5 minutes Left in the third Period. It almost makes you want to cancel the service and find another streaming service. Hopefully FUBO will review this and make the changes necessary, so that their service can get a five star rating. I definitely would recommend FUBO without any reservations and hope that they correct the app to make it accommodating to sports fans who DVR the game so we don’t miss the end of it.
For us.best live tv pkg
I rarely write reviews. But I have tried 3 streaming services now and like this one so much that I felt it worthy of a good review. We just cut cable and are now on g-bit fiber.
Tried YouTube TV first:
✅Great channel lineup
✅ amazing cloud DVR,
✅good device/platform availability
✅ Streaming quality
✅ UI is clean.
❌ But...Ads were all over!
✅ Bravo for the wife.
❌ No NFL network
❌ No Redzone option.
❌ No hallmark for wife. (Hallmark paid app stinks).
Then went to Hulu Live TV:
✅ probably the largest channel lineup
✅ Best (most) platform availability. Even had app for the nintendo switch
❌ But...clunky interface.
❌ Paid $61/mo for the no-ads. And every on demand title we fired up had tons of ads. Even stuff thought we watched before (we had $12/mo Hulu prior to going to Live TV) seemed to have ads now.
✅ streaming quality
✅ Bravo for wife.
✅ DVR is good. Limited storage unless you pay even more money for “enhanced” DVR (ugh).
❌ bad UI. The UI is not very simple or smooth. Basically give up on looking for shows/movies to record because it takes too long.
❌ No NFL network
❌ No Redzone option.
❌ No Hallmark channel for wife.
Then comes fuboTV:
✅ Bravo for wife
✅ Hallmark channel for wife
✅ NFL network for me
✅ Redzone option for me
✅ 500 hour cloud DVR
✅ great UI — simple. Easy. Clean.
✅ great platform support
✅ price competitive ($55/mo)
✅ streaming quality
✅ “seems” to have less ads — note this is subjective and dependent on the shows/movies you watch and the channels they are on. So your experience may vary.
A couple other points. My wife just picked up the remote and started using it without me ever having to show her or teach her the “algorithm” (like other apps) for finding her stuff. It just works like old-school cable tv. Also, for us, the channel lineup and options are perfect. FuboTV, I believe, was originally a sports-centric streaming service. So it seems to have a great sports channel lineup and even better add-on options.
Anyway, those are my thoughts. All streaming services now a days have fairly competitive features like large cloud DVR, channel lineup, on-demand, and great platform support. It’s really about which channels and ad-ons you want or think you might want. Regardless, streaming is the way to go for the simple fact that all services let you cancel, change, suspend, and manage your service and account all online and without ever having to talk to a person and to develop a thesis as to why you are cancelling or changing your service...good bye cable.
MYSTIFIED & ELATED
I got the app and signed up on 9/30. I wanted to watch the Presidents cup and since I don’t want to pay Comcast an additional ‘$75 above the $150 I’m already paying to get to the level with Golf Channel I stumbled on FUBO. I have four TV’s, three with Apple TV, plus iPad and 2 iPhones.
I was able to watch much of the tournament that weekend. The first three days there were a couple of times while watching on the Mac in Safari that the broadcast stopped and I had to hit stop then pay button again. The I ran it on my iPad the did Airplay to get it on my Apple TV. I had a few times when the broadcast was interrupted and when the sound was broken. At first I thought it was FUBO but then I was realized some were Apple TV problems, not FUBO as I was having the same problem with YouTube. But, I had 2nd and 3rd Generation Apple TVs. I then learned I could add it to the main screen if I had the 4th Gen or the 5th Gen boxes. So I bought a 4th Gen box, loaded FUBO. It has worked terrific. There were a couple of brief interruptions but nothing more than a couple of minutes.
So a week later I bought a 5th Gen AppleTV and loaded it with FUBO. I’ve had it on 4-6 hours during the day on Fox Business or CNBC. In the evening lots of Golf channel. The number of channel choices for the subscription price should just shame every other medium. I’ve watched it on my iPad sitting in a VA Outpatient center with a very slow. highly shared WiFI network. A couple of interruptions and drops, but I tried to switching to the FoxNews and CNN apps and was having the same problems there, plus it took having to enter ID and Password again each time it dropped. So another week has passed and NO ISSUES!
So why am I mystified. Before I got the app and signed up for the service I read lots of reviews, most of them 1 star. But I noticed many got the app to watch one thing, one sport, or one team and they had a difficult time, and not many talked about anything else! I got it any way and signed up. Yes it’s a start up, yes there have been some technology glitches, but given how old they are and the quality of service I’ve received I couldn’t be happier, but I’m 70 and I lived through kit computers, build you own transistor radios, the Apple II with not much software other than what I wrote and Visicalc. And, the early MONTHS/YEARS of Hulu. I don’t know what these people expected, but some of the reviews read like they were written by Luddites. I also noticed many of the reviews were posted late September early October. There may have been some problems but nothing now.
As I write this, I’ve got FoodNetwork on my big Mac, Soccer on my iPhone, CBS on the iPad and the Travel Channel on my 4th Gen Apple big screen Samsung. And they are running off my home WiFi network. They’ve been running more than an hour, no stops, no interruptions just high quality HD viewing. I’ve not turned on a a Comcast station in a week! Earlier today and called to cancel Comcast and have the four digital boxes they charge me $6 a month for in box to take back, and turning it off will save another $40 a month. All of that more than pays for FUBO and I have about 20 times as many sports channels. I’m Elated & Ecstatic!
Update, I have now used the app for two more months. I absolutely can’t be happier, I may have had one afternoon when the app seem to have stumbled and I had to restart it, but that was when I was playing on my iPad and transferred it to my Apple TV. I’m not raising my rating to five stars!
Technical Issues / Horrendous Customer Service
ORIGINAL REVIEW:
DVR has terrible playback issues which they will acknowledge if pressed, but have left unfixed. (Notably, playback will go through extended periods where the playback jumps backwards and forwards in 5 to 15 second chunks before resolving —
this will happen several times in a single match.—it is worse on a “non-supported” device like the android TV app, but getting an Apple TV to specifically address this issue has only partially improved matters.)
During the World Cup, playback issues and full outages of both playback and live viewing issues have been constant. I have opened 3 technical tickets in two days. Similar issues occur during classicos and other big events. Most recently, I was unable to watch ANY of my DVR recordings (the recording would “play”, but the screen would be black with no sounds starting a few seconds after starting playback) from early evening until the following morning. (I resolved this issue myself by starting a Sling trial. When I heard back the following morning, I was told they couldn’t duplicate the issue—it had self-corrected by the time they got around to looking at it, but I still missed an entire evening of being able to use their service at all during the World Cup.)
They neither have the bandwidth to operate their service for high demand events, nor the technical competence to have their service run with sufficiently infrequent bugs and playback issues at normal times.
Customer service is completely unhelpful regarding any of these issues. I have contacted them many times regarding skipping issues alone, and I have contacted them about other issues as they have arisen. They always open by trying to blame your internet speed or the device you are using. They do not take responsibility for their buggy software, and once forced to acknowledge the problem is on their side, they are rarely ever able to resolve issues. Whether they do or not, the same issues always come back later. They still have the same unresolved bugs they had a year ago.
I wanted to like this service more because their offerings are great, but their technical team and customer service kill it. If only PlayStation Vue hadn’t dropped BeIN, I would have be spared all of this frustration.
UPDATE:
I posted the review above during the World Cup. I received a developer response (the same copy-and-paste response you will see under all of the one star reviews). Of course, the response says I should contact them to resolve the issue, but if they had read my review carefully, it would be clear that their inability to do just that after being contacted numerous times is why I wrote a 1 star review in the first place. Also, inexplicably, they opened the reply with "Hi Phil." I have no idea why. My name is not Phil, and I don't know where they got that idea. Anyhow, months later, I received another identical developer reply via email and found that my review has been removed from the App Store. (Again, opening with "Hi Phil" ?!?!) I am left to wonder if Fubo somehow successfully petitioned to have my review removed. There is no valid reason for it to have been, so I am reposting it below (fortunately I had a copy of it elsewhere). Be warned: for all the 1 star reviews, there may be more that have been removed without justifiable cause.
2ND UPDATE:
They have responded again to my re-posted review. Their reply is once again irrelevant (read the review guys!), and they once again are calling me Phil?!?! If it weren’t clear they weren’t reading the review, I would think they were trolling me (I have ridiculed them repeatedly for addressing me as Phil).
3RD UPDATE:
I received a new developer response which (1) seems to have been written by someone who actually read my review this time, and (2) finally dropped the weird insistence of addressing me as Phil (though this is a corollary to 1, since I mocked them for this). They indicate they will forward the issues I've raised to their tech team. I have heard this from them on a couple of occasions in the past--the first of which was nearly a year ago--when I pressed customer service about streaming issues (they had to be pressed to say they would forward feedback to where something could actually be done about it, rather than just deflecting at the customer service level). So far, these past instances of forwarding issues to their tech team has not done anything to resolve these issues. Instead, their tech team prefers to spend time revamping UI elements in their app, quite often (but not always) in ways that are a downgrade from how things were before (e.g., you used to be able to fast forward with Siri commands on apple TV, but they killed that feature months ago and have not brought it back in the several updates since they killed it, and also now fast forward and rewind does not include a mini-image of the stream so that you can see where you are, making it difficult to fast forward through commercials or to the beginning of a match). They have also claimed they do not attempt to have reviews removed--I acknowledge this hear, and note that all I can say is mine disappeared and had to be rewritten on the second occasion they submitted a reply to it; this could have been an odd glitch on Apple's end. The timing was suspicious, but I have no reason to doubt Fubo on this point. For now, I am still with them as I hope for massive improvements (I am very skeptical) or for someone to come along with better technical abilities and adequate programming (this used to be PS Vue before they dropped BeIN). If I am pleasantly surprised to find that these long persistent issues are actually resolved, I will be happy to update this review.

Read full review of fuboTVAndroid app is buggy on landscape
When the app is opened on landscape, whether on phone or tablet:
1) user selection screen won't render.
2) menu options will not work or not show.
To work around both issues, it requires to minimize and reopen the application. For #2, you have to reopen on portrait.
On Android phones, opening on landscape stays on that screen orientation for a second and then will switch to portrait regardless how the phone is being held. On Pixel Tablet specifically, these issues are very annoying for me because I watched content while in hub mode.
In contrast, your app for Roku works perfectly since it is obviously designed for TV screens which are primarily oriented in landscape.
Desired outcome: Apps like YouTube, Amazon Video, etc, work perfectly regardless of screen orientation and adjust the display seamlessly when devices are rotated. Your app should behave the same way.
Fubo refuses to let us subscribe
Over the past few months, we tried to subscribe to Fubo. They kept saying we were trying to get a second free trial, but in reality we were trying to start our subscription. We thought something was wrong, but no matter how we tried, we were not allowed to subscribe--they would not take our money.
We are very disappointed, after many phone calls and emails, they will not let us subscribe. We just want to pay for a subscription.
Desired outcome: Pay and start our subscription to Fubo.
You got lucky. Once they have your payment information, it is stored and used as they see fit. Canceling is hard, a refund is impossible.
Reactivate my Fubo account
Return customer. I’m trying to reactivate my account after not using it for two years. I keep getting an error online. I’ve been on the phone with customer service three times today. No one can help. They want me to wait 24-48 hours for a specialist to look at my account. When I nicely tell them I would like to speak to a supervisor they decline and won’t let me. When I tell them I would rather get another streaming service than wait 24-48 hours they don’t care. Interesting business model
Please I will to know you decided cut the above money from account without my authority and what is the reason for that cut.
Please consider yourself lucky. It's even harder to get your money back.
Not a fan
First we don’t watch a ton of regular season sports so it’s $60/MO just to watch censored movies and local tv and news. As far as news goes, No CNN no MSNBC but lucky you, they carry neoconservative loony conspiracy takes from NewsMax and OAN, etc. Their splash screen even features Hannity and Tucker. Something’s foul here. customer service is awful. Sent two emails to the customer service email got back not one but two form automatic responses for each. Needless to say Canceled before the next month but in time for super bowl. All of a sudden my saved email and password is no good. Well needless to say found another way to stream the big game. Save your money even cable is better than this. At least cable company will get back to you about your issues and they generally don’t billboard garbage pail Q spiracy friendly stations and “personalities”. So many reasons to earn a 1 star. Good only if you’re addicted to sports and baseless conspiracy claims. Peace out FUBO (for us by other?)EDIT: Don’t bother replying to this review. Put that manpower on the email machine replying to customers Conscerns before it comes to this.

TvOS app is unintuitive and frustrating
The tvOS app is difficult to use and confusing. It doesn’t behave like any other streaming app on Apple TV, and it feels as if the developers of this app haven’t ever actually used it or even own an Apple TV of their own.
For example, there are gestures that access top menu bars by swiping up instead of pulling the menu bar down, or bottom menus by swiping down instead of pulling the menu up.
Sometimes pressing “menu” on the remote takes you back one UI navigation step (as it should) but other times the menu button has a special and unexpected function.
Further, the app insists on starting a live stream of whatever channel is at the top of your list, whether you want it or not (I rarely do). So I have to pause that stream then return to the navigation UI to choose my programming in peace.
Additionally, audio output selection seems to be broken. In the tvOS UI I can select an AirPlay destination such as a HomePod and have audio from every app go there instead of the TV’s speakers. Except for Fubo, which for some reason does not respect this setting.
I love the FuboTV service; it’s a great value. But the tvOS app is a dumpster fire.

DVR needs improved quality
I buy FuboTV for its Cycling Raod Race coverage. It allows me to watch races no one else broadcasts in the USA. I also use it for NHL San Jose Sharks games. I love the fact I can record programs that air during inconvenient times using Fubo’s server as the DVR recorder as I do not own a DVR. However, the DVR recordings have many bugs that need fixing that lead me to a lot of anger and frustration especially when I’m paying $55 a month for these recording. 1) Recordings go out of focus over and over again. It takes 30 seconds for the image to become sharp again and when watching a sporting event that is a huge amount of time 2) The recordings jump all over the place. And I miss big chunks of my program. Sometimes it jumps to the end of the event and I see who won! Yikes! 3) The playback tools of Pause/Play, RR, FF are large and placed right in the center of the screen covering up what I’m trying to examine. They should be placed in the center but at THE BOTTOM of the screen like all my other apps do. These problems exist whether I am using the desktop version on my laptop or the mobile app on my iPad. Hopefully these bugs will be fixed someday

They want me to pay $65 for this?
I don’t have the app on my TV, but I didn’t think that would be a problem since I can use my Macbook’s airplay feature on it. Turns out I can’t. Fubo won’t let me. Whenever I try to cast to the TV, the stream cuts out and says that my method of playback is not supported.
Listen guys, that feature is a must if I’m going to pay ANY amount of money, let alone $65/month.
So now we’re watching the game on my 17” laptop rather than my 55” curved 4k TV. Great party
And it’s not even streaming in HD. It’s like 480p
On top of that, the audio cuts out sometimes, or the stream will outright crash and the home screen will say that I have no content available. Then I have to refresh the page. It takes some time to get back on the stream of the game and of course we missed something.
So, yeah, at $65 there’s really no justification for getting this. I can get Sling for half the price, or I could upgrade my Hulu for the same price per month (plus already paying a little bit for Hulu anyway) or I could get Youtube TV, again for the same price. And all of these services allow me to watch from my TV, in HD. Not an unreliable, pixelated stream on my laptop

DONT BUY! TERRIBLE APP
This app is clunky and has a terrible interface. Starting with the iPad version, all you get is a list of channels that don't tell you what's playing on each. So you'll have to click through them and hit play for each to find out. If you're looking for a specific game and it hasn't yet started well then good luck finding it. The iPhone app shows some of the channels with what's currently playing but not all. There is no way for you to see a schedule of games and where to watch even the day of. They send you an email during the week to tell you what's scheduled but it's unreliable. You'll think your game is on but you try and it's not. I've also had multiple technical issues on all platforms including directly through their site. I have a string of emails with them as long as Delaware. Their customer service is responsive I'll give them that, however don't expect more than an apology. I asked for a refund for their failure to provide what they promised and I paid for but instead they cancelled my membership and refunded me the remaining balance. So expect to be ripped off if you aren't satisfied. I hope you find this helpful and steer away from this app.

Way overpriced for inferior service
I currently have their best package and pay about $85 monthly but I’m done. The service constantly locks up to the point you have to exit the app several times a day. Very frustrating when your watching something and end up missing parts so when you finally get back to it you have no idea what happened and are left in the dark. If you are fortunate enough to be able to watch something for a period of time and want to rewind you just have to guess how long to rewind because it doesn’t show what’s going on as you rewind/fast forward you literally just get a bar shown on the bottom for reference on where you were. Don’t get me started on the serious lag when you try to look through the guide. No more shooting up 20 channels in a second. It’s so SLOW. I laugh now at the fact I actually pay more between my internet and this crappy service than when I had actual cable and internet in a package and the cable was FAR superior to this. This is my first streaming service so I’m gonna try another company first but I’m really thinking about just going back to cable. I should also note I have xfinity blast upgraded to the fastest service available so it’s definitely not my internet.

“NOT RECOMMENDED FOR SOCCER”
I first subscribed to Fubotv in 2015 to watch soccer when it started streaming and was extremely disappointed because most of the soccer games like the Premier League, Champions League and other European league games weren’t on their subscription and I unsubscribed. A month ago I saw FuboTV ads and promotions every where so I thought they must have upgraded the channels so I subscribed. And it was a “HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT” because it was the same old story. They still don’t have the rights to stream the major soccer channels so it was the same old NBCsports(which you can stream for free online). Right now when you subscribe and sign in they ask you to pick your favorite channels like skySports, Beinsports and foxsports and it’s very misguiding because they don’t have access and rights to show those channels. Still very disappointment and very gutted and i wasted my money subscribing this whole month. If you love GOLF and Baseball this is the right app but for soccer never ever please subscribe to FUBOTV! Their advertisement and promotions about soccer is very impressive but I will not recommend it if you want to watch soccer. Very upset and disappointed! They don’t even deserve one star but I can’t send my review if I don’t give them the minimum rating.

Cloud DVR is so buggy
I have been a customer of Fubo for over a year and patiently waiting for them to work out their kinks and bugs. I signed up for FUBO because they have a great soccer lineup (NBCSN for premier league and BeingSports for La Liga).
HOWEVER...every once in a while their software retrieving my recordings picks up the wrong video or starts at the wrong point or all together loses the video! For soccer getting a video started at minute 90 means I just found out the result.
This morning at 4:30am there was a Premier League game of Arsenal v Aston Villa and when I tried to retrieve my recording at 8:30 am, it started the video on the point that the game is over and they are doing the final interviews with the coaches! Well for sports this doesn’t work!
This isn’t the first time! Their cloud DVR is so buggy and unreliable!
Other times the recording is in the list but the video is simply not available!
Other times if you fast forward 15 seconds it jumps 60 minutes ahead!
I am turning off my FUBO service in a week or two after I try SLINGTV and YouTube TV. Too bad because FuBO has a nice soccer lineup!
I am sure some developer will post here “sorry we are working to improve our service” but a year is long enough! Not worth it with a buggy cloud DVR!

Too many things too difficult
Calling for support is useless. They tell you to open a support ticket and then hang up. Poor customer service.
I thought fubo would be much better than directv and other than price I was wrong. The help system isn’t useful and if I have to call them every time I have a question that I can’t find in help, then it might just become too much of a hassle. I use this on my iPad 90% of the time.
Here’s what is frustrating:
1) there is no way to delete a recording schedule without opening the schedule and deleting each future recording. What a pain. I’m not sure the schedule is gone but maybe only the future events it currently displayed. On directv you select the schedule, delete it and it’s gone. I don’t have to select every individual event it’ll record. How hard can this be on ios? A slide to the left or right and select delete.
2) I thought about transitioning my parents from directv to this but I’m not sure they’d make it with the interface. The directv guide interface is great but this interface on appleTV for them might be so confusing they’d give up. If they tried to delete a scheduled recording they’ve never figure it out.
They need to beef up the interface. Needing to select 20-30 episodes to possibly delete a recording schedule is too much.
