Hi...well, I hope it's obvious this complaint isn't even about our company, We're not located in a mall, nor do we ship overseas.

Wow…I was personally on MY WAY, on a Saturday, to fix this woman’s game. This story is so bizarre I’m afraid folks won’t even believe it. Since she’s chosen to go public with this, I guess our texts back and forth are fair game. Anyone who reads this and thinks it’s too crazy to be true, and it is influencing your decision to order anything from us, please, contact me personally from our web site and I will send you a transcript of the text. I don’t want to just make it public here as she expressed that she wasn’t in good health, based on a treatment she told me she was on. I hope that is what’s going on, because nothing else really explains what happened. In 30 plus years, I have never experienced anything like this from a client. I am going to paraphrase it in a bullet point so that it’s easier to read:

She has an older system with the hard drive. Far and away out of warranty, but we always are willing to repair any game(s) bought from us, no matter how old it is. I ordered her a brand new hard drive, and paid for it.

I made an appointment to come out at her convenience, on a Saturday morning, to install it.

I called for her address, as I thought she had moved. She told me she wasn’t going to be home, and that I could come and her kids would be there. Nope. We don’t do that, and I would hope most parents would appreciate that we feel that’s just all around a bad idea.

She was angry I would not come if a parent wasn’t there, after telling me her kids were adults. Okay, but I still want parent home. It’s our policy, plus I think it’s better for an owner of the game to be present, and see it’s been repaired.

She then said she was home, but was recovering from treatment (I won’t say exactly what it was, to protect her privacy on this web site) and wanted me to instead meet her “kids” at a parking lot and give them the part. Getting sketchy. Also, experience tells me they would very likely need me to go into the game and do minor security coding once it was installed, so handing off a hard drive would likely not solve their issue. I told her I really needed to come myself.

I will not repeat the first part of her text (but will include it if anyone wants it forwarded prior to placing an order…incredibly inappropriate) but the second part was that we are not a “real” company if I won’t meet her kids in the parking lot.

Based on that, and her first really terrible comment, I made an assumption that perhaps whatever meds she was on could be what was doing the talking. I told her that I thought before we said something to each other we would later regret, she should contact me when she was feeling better, and that I would still come out. Isn’t that reasonable? I really didn’t know what the heck else to do, and I came back to our shop.

Instead, she writes a complaint about us. Really?

This past weekend I followed up and offered her an alternative, and I wish I had thought of it before but I was simply so floored it simply didn’t occur to me. I hate having any complaints about my company, even if there are very few (we’ve been in business for over 30 years….I’m aware of three complaints and none reflect how we actually handle service issues).

I offered to send her a new board, with the hard drive, for FREE. All she would have to do is remove the old one, simple enough, and plug the cables into the same holes as the new one. We had done this with her before, when she moved out of the area (which makes all this even more strange). I even told her she didn’t have to send the old one back! Guess what. No response, thank you, or reply. I can’t fix it if we aren’t allowed to! And, again, for those that don’t believe me (yes, it’s hard to believe!), I will forward the text. Geez, I even apologized, even though I see where we have done no wrong.

Please remember that we have not sold this system with the hard drive for many years; all our new systems use solid state memory! We get a lot of referral business, so whether or not I want to work on them, we really do have to! If this woman responds, and wants to take me up on our offer (just look at the text I sent you, but you sure got the other one’s), the offer stands! To any potential clients, I appreciate you taking the time to read this very long response.

I've been specializing in home game room arcade games since the 80's. I guess if we had a reputation that bad, and we serviced our clients the way it's implied, there would be an awful lot of bad reviews out there! There aren't. We work hard to make sure of that. So, I have no idea why this client wasn't serviced by us, or if that's even the case. We have three people including myself that does service so I will say there is no excuse for that if it was our fault. Frankly, I don't recall this but I certainly would not accuse a previous client of being disingenuous.

If he will reach out to me, I'll find out why this happened, and resolve it free of charge. And most of our clients actually want vintage games (or what he calls outdated) so that in and of itself is the point of us being here! However, in regards to our multi games, they are brand new. His system is now older, and uses a hard drive, but that was by far the best one in it's day. To this day we still service them despite being long out of warranty and if we didn't, I'm sure we would be long out of business for not doing so! We stopped selling anything with a hard drive a few years ago, but if he will contact us I will offer to have him send his board into us, and we'll fix it and return it free of charge. Why this wasn't done before I couldn't say, but my apologies if it was on our end.

And yes, we do sell older games...but they are restored, come with a warranty and we have many clients that want those! I'm sorry you feel that's not a good thing. They are certainly not "broken down." We spend hours and hours restoring games here!
