sales
Gander mountain is falsely advertising "sales" as they are "going out of business" they have marked up all their prices and then offer 10%-50% off. Yet all these items that are on "sale" are still cheaper any where else and where cheaper at Gander mountains normal prices before they were "going out of business" this should be illegal and I hope they get sued for this!
red wing irish setter logger boots
I bought a pai of boots from your grandville store. Tried them for 3 weeks and found that I was really hating them. I decided to go return the boots, but I was told that all sales were final because of whatever is going on with the company. I was not told this when I purchased the boots. I don't have the box or the receipt. Would be happy get a different pair of boots that gander sells if I had to. Is there anyway I can return these or get a refund?
Thanks
ar15
I was waiting for almost two hour just standing (while the employee keep helping others all) when he finally came over I ask to see three different ar15. While we was talking there was a guy came up so the employee ask if he could check him out real fast. As he was checking him out the ask to go and look at some crossbow that took about 30 mins. After that he came back over and I decided on which one I was going to get. I paid and went the whole process for getting the gun. Then they said that they couldn't find the box or the clip so they put it in a different box and put a aftermarket clip in it then they told me it was going to be ten minutes. So I walk around looking as I came back they said I could get the gun cause the sold it yesterday. They have the guy the wrong yesterday and I had to wait till tomorrow for the guy to brang it back and exchange them out but I told them that I wanted my money back cause I live hour and a half away but i really wanted that ar so they lost a sale
shotgun
Went to Gander in Algonquin IL last night (5/24/2017) to buy a shotgun. The guns were marked with a price tag with two prices, first the original MSRP and then just under it was a reduced price. There were signs on every shelf (and directly in front of the guns) that read "Firearms 15% OFF LOWEST TICKETED PRICE". When I went to purchase the gun thinking I would get 15% off the lowest price marked (which was obviously silly of me), the clerk first said the price was already marked and represented the 15% already... ? I asked for a manager who was also pretty rude. explained to him the sign is pretty clear, 15% off the lowest price on the ticket is 15% off the "lowest price marked". He said "that's not how it works"... Not sure how anyone can argue with common sense but there you have it.
Clearly extremely false advertising, and most likely illegal.
manager at holland ohio location
We were in the store to purchase a new pole and reel tonight. The food we chose came with a free hat with purchase. The manager refused to give us the hat free. After already giving it go my son I had no choice but to purchase the hat. The manager was very rude and said he was not honoring any promotions end if they were posted. Even though they signs were clearly posted. Very dissatisfied and even though the store is closing we only purchased items that were 10% off. No great savings. I have never had a manager flat out refused to honor a posted sale.
myth baitcast combo rod and reel
I purchased this rod and reel 5/12/17 at a discount price because of the liquidation sale. Now I know all sales are final, by I expected paying almost $75 for a rod/reel that it would work. It took it fishing this morning 5/13/17 and it doesn't work. I took it back to Bowling Green, Ky store where I bought it to see if I could exchange it for one that works and the manager was too chicken to even come out and talk with me. I didn't want my money back, I wanted a pole combo that worked. I'll never buy anything from any gander mtn/ camping world ever again. I want this problem fixed!
gander mountain, opelika, alabama
I drove to Gander Mountain yesterday afternoon from Columbus, Georgia. May 11, 2017. I had approximately $210 in Gander Reward Certificates. I went to check out and started to hand the cashier my certificates, he told me that they could not be used. I started to return my items to the buggy, was not going to purchase these, the only reason I went was to take advantage of what I was offered. HE then told me, no, do not return the items, you can call your Gander credit card company and they will deduct these certificates from your statement. I called Gander and this was not true. I was lied too. I would not have purchased these items. I was told "I am sorry..." this was very wrong; I have talked to many people and all have agreed. this is totally unfair.
customer service
I was looking for a particular archery item (Genesis bow arrow rest, after finally finding an employee he told me he was in fishing and couldn't help. I found someone in archery finally and asked him. He said he didn't know but let him hang up a bow he had in his hand and he would be right back to help. I waited 10 minutes and he never returned. I just went to check out the other items I wanted. One item wouldn't scan and I was told that there was nothing they could do if they couldn't get a price. I had to go show someone where the item was. She yanked the pricing off the shelf to scan. Both of the cashiers I dealt with were rude to not only me but the customer in front of me. I know all the stores are closing but that is no way to treat customers. They was a guy behind me asking about returns and the cashier with me said all sales are final. She said it was posted all over the store and pointed down to the counter and said it's even right here. What she was pointing at was the no check only credit/debit card policy. I tried to point that out and she looked at me and rudely said have a nice day. This was my first experience in Gander Mtn and I was very disappointed.

customer service
I went to the Gander Mountain Store in Fort Gratiot, Michigan this afternoon on April 4, 2017 to buy a new 20 gauge Stoeger coach gun, and assumed that after the clerk behind the counter greeted his friends he would eventually wait on me but he never did acknowledge me. I waited several minutes and finally left. I was in customer service from the time that I was twelve years old until I retired at age fifty-seven so I know what good service is all about! It's no wonder that your company has declared bankruptcy! I wil buy my firearms elsewhere!
terrible
What a terrible site to deal with! I have ordered something from their store and didn't receive my item. Moreover, it was never actually shipped. According to what they said I was supposed to get my order within 5 days and when I contacted them about my order they said that they were not responsible for that I gave me manufacturers contact details. No matter how many times I tried I was not able to contact the manufacturer!
In the end I had to cancel my order! I simply wasted my time with these unprofessional clowns who were not able to assist me! Gander Mountain is the worst company I have ever dealt, they are terrible.
customer service
I was buying a firearm from a gentleman an hour away. He called the new hartford, ny store to verify they were able to do the transfer. The associate told him yes, all I need to bring is ID. I met him at the store 2/18 at 1130 am. We wen't in the store and waited at the firearms counter while the 3 men working ignored us. After 15 minutes of waiting, a man named Mark approached us and asked what we need. We stated we were looking to do a private transfer. He responded by telling us it would be at least 45 minutes because they were busy, and told us we should return during the week. I informed him that we both traveled to get there to which he suggested we return at night. We both left the stoor and went 10 minutes down the road to bass pro shops where they are friendly and appropriately staffed to do the transfer and purchase ammo and accessories.
This store specifically is ALWAYS understaffed esepecially in firearms and the staff clearly do not care about the customers. This is not a new occurance, it's virtually every time i go to this store the past 3-4 years.
I suggest you address this if you hope to compete with others in the area who are providing far superior prices and customer service i.e bass pro.
manager "caroline" accused my husband of being a thief/directed staff to "remember his face"
In August 2016, my husband and I purchased a snowsuit that was on clearance at the Gander Mountain in Middletown NY. The sales staff were very helpful and because it was a hot summer day were making jokes with us about wearing a snowsuit on such a hot day. I put the suit into the closet and did not look at it again until December time frame. It was then that I had noticed that the anti-theft device was not taken from the jacket portion of the suit. As it was time to wear the suit, I asked that my husband run into the store and request customer service to remove the tag. They said that they needed a receipt, for which we did not have, but we did have the visa statement which reflected the price of the jacket (we had in the jacket pocket) and when in August it was purchased. The managers were in a meeting at the time but my husband managed to speak with "Caroline". She outright accused my husband of being a thief and stated that she would call law enforcement. My husband stated that she might as well as he was not a thief. She then instructed the customer service staff to "remember his face". For reference, we are a military service couple... probably least likely to steal something and then return to a store with proof of purchase - minus a receipt. Suffice to say we will not return to Gander Mountain for any of our family needs. I would certainly like to have "Caroline" spoken to - in fact, dismissed from her position.
would not do a price match
I opened a Gander Mountain MasterCard a little over a year ago with plans to buy a gun safe or a GPS. After earning over $200 I shopped for a safe. I found a great price on one at a local store that Gander Mountain did not carry so bought it and planned on getting the GPS. They had a limited selection but I liked the Garmin Oregon 600T they had clearance priced at $399.94. I found the same exact model on sale at Cabela’s and another online retailer for $250 with free shipping. I called Gander Mt to price match and place my order. They first verified it being the identical item and the price then told me they could not price match. I spoke with a supervisor who told me the same thing and told me the best he could do is take $20 off. What good are $200 worth of credit if you are paying $130 plus tax more for the identical item. I sent letters to both the corporate office and sales office 3 weeks ago with printouts of both ads for comparison. No reply. I have no choice other than buying the GPS and basically losing $130 of my credit or buy other items. Either way, once I make my purchase I will close my account and never shop there again.
First, they do not match prices of other seller's clearance items, this was a sale price on both Cabela's and the other site. They stated the price was below their cost however refused to tell me what their cost was or be willing to bring the price down to their cost..
I believe you misunderstood what I said. Their policy means that any items that are on clearance at Gander Mountain cannot be price matched with the same item at any price at another store.
I would say the majority of companies, if not all of them, would not tell you their cost. Additionally, why would they want to sell an item at a 0% profit? If they sold items at no mark-up the company would close quickly.
I beg to differ; When they refer to clearance items they are talking about items the other retailer is having a clearance on as it is frequently below their cost and not a true "sale" price. The fact that GM has it as a clearance item would have no bearing as it does not effect their cost. As for not telling me their cost or selling an item for zero profit, if they are making the offer to match price unless below their cost, they are agreeing to match the price even at their cost, just not a loss. They cannot stand behind this offer and use the reason they will not match is due to their cost without revealing the cost. Otherwise, they could always say "we can't because it's below our price" and never price match.
I suppose I cannot speak for Gander Mountain, but every retailer I have worked at is referring to their own clearance items.
Their policy states "We reserve the right to make final judgment calls on all price matches under this policy. " Essentially they are able to refuse whatever they want at the end.
plano extreme angler
Ordered the plano extreme angler during a holiday sale. Showed up broken in two places. The front side doors were both broken. One cracked through the cover, the other had a broken hinge. Thin cardboard box and no packing material like bubble wrap. Customer service was great in ordering a replacement.
Showed up again broken. Top side panel broke. Now a return for good. Customer service is great but shipping lacks quality material, pride in their company or care for their products. Customer service were great, especially Hannah and Ron. But your shipping department needs reprimanded, provided proper shipping material. Take some pride
customer service - manager
This is a delay in writing about my experience with Preston and Jeremy at the Round Rock, Texas store in August; however, I feel it needs to be communicated. I went in to exchange a white Guide Series Womens LS Quick Dry Trophy VPN 18W-WV561 code [protected] I had purchased in Michigan. I returned it because after two wearing, I had three small snags in the sleeve and in the front part of the shirt. I looked up on line and other people had the same comments/complaints. Jeremy was new to the store and asked Preston, the new manager, for assistance. After a thorough look at the shirt, Preston agreed to exchange it. His comment was that this shirt was not made for day bag packing and only for fishing! I have never heard of a more ridiculous excuse. This coming from a man who clearly has never fly fished so he wouldn't know we use day packs when we fish! I had to ask for my receipt and was told Gander Mountain policy is not to give receipts back to their customers upon exchanges or returns! What? Then Preston's comment was - why so you can return more items! He then made a copy of the receipt and gave it to me. First, I was in compliance on Gander Mountains return/exchange policy. I presented the original receipt and was within the time frame. His lack of knowledge of the womens wear and who wears it is obvious. Then to make a comment like this when I had purchased well over $500 between the Michigan and Texas Stores. Point forward, I will continue to shop only at ORVIS and Bass Pro.
delivery of discovery canoe
I want to tell someone who is looking for a canoe about a bad experience we are having with Gander Mountain. We purchased a canoe for my son who has been planning a Mississippi River Trip for 2 years. After purchasing the Canoe on July 21st, 2016, we were told shipping from vender would happen in 7-to- 10 days. After checking with Gander about a week later they said we had to confirm the shipping address. They said they had sent an email. No emails, they said they had called, no calls. They then went on to explain how it would really be late august before it would be delivered to the location. In the meantime, my son is camping in minnesota waiting for a canoe that will never arrive in time for his trip. thousands spent and a big waste of time. We could have purchased the canoe at several locations but picked Gander because of the reputation. We have called the customer service only to be hung up on twice and very rude people making light of our situation. Even heard laughing. In our opinion we made a terrible mistake buying anything from Gander and will try to spread the word on every social forum with the hope that nobody ever has to go through what we are going through. Needless to say they will take your money quick but after that, it is a long waiting game and you are at the mercy of the big corporation sitting back not caring when or if you get what you needed and when you needed it.
My question is this: Why in the world would someone planning a trip for 2 years wait til the last minute to buy an integral piece of equipment they needed for that trip?
shipping charges
Purchased two shakespeare casting rods and two zebco 33's from gander during a period when the shipping was supposed to be free. Upon checking out I learned that gander added an additional freight charge of $20 but under shipping and handeling it say free. So what's with the addtional freight charge?
new (defective) firearm
Purchased a new Sig Sauer P938 from the local Gander Mountain store. Was told there was a one year manufacturers warranty when I purchased. They attempted to sell me their extended warranty plan but I declined. Approx. two week after picking the gun up, I took it to the range only to realize it was defective. Returned to the Gander Mountain store to get the...

At 7:27pm 9/29/14 I stopped by the local Gander Mountain to pick up a trail cam and a pocket knife. I have been in the market for a new rifle for a few years now and after talking to a co worker, who is a retired police officer, about the gun laws in Michigan I decided to go ahead and do some shopping while I was there. Now I'm a pretty clean cut guy and...
