lost my display taxidermy mounts
>:(I put several mounts on display at Gander Mountain in Twinsburg Ohio and they have disappeared. They came to me looking for mounts to display. A lg life size black bear(B&C), Bearcub and porcupine. Fisher with a small porpupine and 3 ducks. Gander HQ says they are not respocible for the lose and offered me an insulting amout in gift cards. Like they have stuff I want! They have since located (won't tell me how or who) the bearcub/ porcupine which was destroyed and not in the condition I left it. They have not offered me any more than $3000.00 in gift cards for the lose of over $12000.00 worth of award winning mounts. All were entered in regional and state NTA OTTR and OAT competitions. If you have mounts or visit these Gander beware. I have been fighting them for 4 months with no end in sight. Just rude comments and insulting banter. BEWARE of Gander Mountain! pass the word on!.
no service for one whole hour!
I went to get some ammunition but couldn't find the right bullet. I waited for help, then looked around for help, then paced back and forth waiting for help. Finally someone comes out to the floor, sees me, and still chooses to ignore me. Then literally one hour later someone finally helped me. Extremely disappointed. I never really shopped there before to begin with, now I'm definitely not.

That is funny, only because this is the same reason I walked out of my local Gander Mountain in Woodbury, MN last Saturday. I needed to buy about $120 of black powder supplies and could not find anyone of the four clerks to help me, even though I was the only customer. Finally, the one that was told by another clerk I needed help, nodded to her, looked at me, then went into their back room and would not come out again. Maybe they forgot there are a lot more shops around than them...
not covering warranty
I bought a interstate deep cycle 24 battery from gander mountain in september of 2012. I used it twice in my camper on hunting trips. Battery wont hold charge and leaks acid from the top. I brought the battery back to gander mountain in forest lake, mn. The battery has the dates on the battery on the day purchased, a gander sticker on the battery and a card on the side of the battery with the date purchased. The store manager told me no returns with out a receipt. I just wanted to exchange under warranty.
deceptive sales advertising
Gander Mountain in Greenwood, Indiana practices deceptive sales advertising. Last Thursday, 26 Oct 2012, I bought two sweaters off what appeared to be a sale rack. I had bought other items so when they rang up, it seems high but I didn't look at the receipt until I got home. I discovered I paid full price for one of the sweaters. I went back today to check the rack closer, only one style was on sale. I told them there was a bunch of the same style of sweaters on the same rack as the sale sweaters. Their excuse was that they only have so many arms to put clothes on and insulted me by pointing to the sign for the style that was on sale. Really? This is practically a bait and switch. You just got on my no-shop list and I will be telling everyone I know not to shop in ANY of your stores.

wrong price on product
Tried to buy a Ruger SR-22 rifle which was priced at 279.99. Filled out all the paper work and was about to check out when they decided the gun was 549.99. They claimed the gun had been priced wrong and would not honor the price tag that was actually on the gun.
I will not do business with Gander Mountain anymore.

terrible customer service
A really nice hunting pack was bought for me by my mother-in-law for my birthday from Gander Mountain. The strap on it broke as I was hiking in the mountains on a hunting trip. My mother-in-law couldn't find the receipt for it. I thought, no big deal, I'm sure they'll still replace it. They wouldn't want to lose a lifetime customer over one backpack right?!?! WRONG! They told me they saw the purchase under my mother-in-law's name onlline so they would replace the pack... I had to pay for shipping to ship my broken pack to them (unacceptable) and they sent me an incorrect backpack to replace it that was much cheaper and lower quality. I called customer service and the woman (Heather Williams) was extremely rude and said there is nothing they can do unless I can get my mother-in-law to find a receipt for proof-of-purchase. So now I have NO RECEIPT AND THEY HAVE MY BROKEN BACKPACK! I had no proof that I owned this pack anymore so I wrote an email to customer service complaining about the mix-up and gave them 2 options 1) send me back my broken pack so i have proof that i own it 2) send me the CORRECT replacement backpack. THEY CHOSE OPTION 1! What kind of place sends a customer their broken item back instead of replacing it? In that email I also told Heather to forward it to her supervisor and I specifically requested confirmation from that supervisor that they were aware of the situation. It has been 2 days since I received a reply from Heather saying that she sent it to her supervisor, so two days since the supervisor got my email AND STILL NO RESPONSE! I used to shop there all the time, and just last year my father-in-law bought me a rifle from there that was $800. I can tell you that I'll never shop there again and this is just one of many stops on several blogs to share my experience.

customer service
I ordered a firearm over the phone from them and was told I would be able to pick it up at one of their stores in four days. I provided my email address and phone number at the time of the order. First of all, I never received an email saying I had ordered something from them. Then, six days after I ordered, I contacted them and they said it would ship out the next day and I would receive an email the following day. They also told me they would charge my credit card when it ships out. Three days after they told me I would receive an email, I still did not hear anything from them and my card was not charged, so obviously the product was never shipped out. By this time I was fed up with waiting and finally contacted them to cancel the order. They told me they would contact me telling me when the order was officially canceled (what?). I never heard from them again. Buyer beware, do not order from Gander Mountain, all they do is steal your card information.
The customer service sucks! My husband and I were going to buy a Trijicon Acog Combat optic and could not get any service. I stepped away to see if just a man standing at the counter mattered and it didn't. Needless to say we spent that 1500.00 elsewhere. I called the store to complain and the firearms manager acted like he could give 2 cents less about what I was saying. Do not shop at this store. Its over priced and the customer service sucks.
I am a regular customer at the Somerville Coles supermarktet in Victoria. The problem is trying to purchase an international mobile recharge voucher. There are two ladies in particular who have always been rude to me because they can not process the voucher. For me the experience has made me feel very uncomfortable because they can easily identify me. I am a black African Austrlian thats' how. They just want to get rid of me instead of calling someone else to help. All the time I tell them that Coles is where I get that particular voucher but they just want me to go away. It's really sad because sometimes I find nice ladies who gladly sell the voucher tome. It's only two of them that have a problem with me. Yesterday at 17:49 I found a nice young lady who did not know how to process the voucher and the usual mean lady came to her rescue by yelling "We don't know!" Then I repeated to the young lady that I get it from Coles all the time. They called the assistant manager as if I was causing touble.
gander mountain policy re law enforcement
I tried to purchase a new gun with my Police ID card and was told Gander Mountain has a policy that it will not sell firearms to Law Enforcement personnel unless they also provide a letter from their agency that they have permission to purchase it. However if you are a civilian and have a permit it can be sold to you, no questions asked. How absurd of a policy is this ? I spoke to the manager and he couldn't give an answer as to how Gander Mountain is the only company that holds a Policy like this.
discrimination
I went to Gander Mountain Nov. 30, 2011 about 12 noon. Before I went, my brother had stopped up there that morning to find out what the laws were for me when trying to obtain a shot gun, because I didn't want to go take any classes to be able to obtain a regular firearm. My brother had told me all I had to do was go to the store with my drivers license and...

I ordered an item on July 12th and received an email confirmation of the order. Several weeks later after I had not received the order OR an email stating a delivery date I called Gander mtn. I was told at that point that the order was going to be shipped until August 9th. I asked why I had not received any notification of such and was not given an answer. August 9th came and went, so today, August 15th, I called again and spoke to a Kathryn. She was very pleasant, but informed me again that it was backordered now until September 6th! Once again, I asked why I had not received any notification of such. Once again, I was told she had no idea why. One last note, after my 1st call to Gander I sent an email asking for some answers and have yet to receive a response to that either. Today I cancellled the order. This was the 1st and last time we will ever order from this company and we will surely discuss with our friends and on Facebook. This is a perfect example of unacceptable customer service.
awful service, complete fail
We ordered a pair of Slippers from the website. They were on special for $10, regularly priced $60. We were elated to find this deal and rcvd order confirmation. A day later we rcvd an email that said they had made a mistake on the price and it was in fact not $10 it was $60. They cancelled our order so we emailed saying, how could this be? We ordered them for $10 already you have to honor that price, after all you advertised it. They never responded so a week later I called them and spoke with representatives. The first one said that they made a very big mistake and the price was wrong on the site but that they won't do anything about it except that she can give me 20% off. She then said if I spoke to a supervisor I could probably get an extra 10% off. The supervisor called me back and said we are sorry for our mistake do you want to order them at the $60 price? I said of course not because the product I bought was for $10. She THEN goes on to say that they never allow discounts on this PER the CEO and so she can't give me the $10 price. Then literally a minute later she offers me 10% off. I say forget it just give me the 20% off that the first representative offered me. She said I can't do that we can't offer more than 10%. I said, you just lied to me a couple times.
In the end we will not be ordering nor buying from them again, I was absolutely disgusted with their service and the fact that THEY MAKE THEIR CUSTOMERS PAY FOR THE COMPANY'S MISTAKES. They should've absorbed that cost and sold them to customers for the $10.
used gun price gauging
Guns and gold, my daddy told me you`ll never lose your money! Not at gander in brookfeild!I recently witnessed two cases of used gun gouging, as a matter of fact the appraiser never even showed his face.First a late model Remington model 700 synthetic stock two tone with rubberized forearm and pistol grip heavy barrel varmit model. The appraiser used the sales "kid"as go between offered $150.00 ! This is a$800 retail gun all day anywhere, so at 30% $400 is fair to sell @$525, but no rip him off @$150.Second a new in box AR Stag arms in 6.8 rem spc offered $300 an easy sell @ $600 for 100% profit.Gun sellers in Brookfeid area go to Cabelas you will get your gas money back and then some compared to gander. Gander is taking advatage of a bad economy and people in direstraights.

possible racism
Went to Gander Mountain today (10/19/10) to inquire and possibly buy a shotgun. I stood there as employee after employee passed me and then asked white customers if they needed help. I don't like pulling the race card unless it is truly racism, and I'm pretty sure this one was. I literally stood in front of an employees face and he turned away from me and asked someone else if they needed help.
I left so pissed that instead of inquiring about a shotgun at another store, I bought the gun because I was so mad. That was my first time in Gander Mountain and definitely my last. Ever!

I was in a Buffalo store, I went to the gun counter and asked for help. The guy came from behind the counter to show me were the item was. He realized that item was missing from the box. Another idiot from behind the counter made a comment implying that I must have taken it.. The funny thing is, He saw me come in and walk straight toward him- without going down the isle. I will never spend another penny with Gander mountain for as long as I live. I will make sure that I convince everyone I know not to go there. Buffalo is full of gun shops that do not hire KKK members,
I had the same problem at gander mountain in taylor michigan.
Ill keep my $1500 and shop somewhere else
false advertising
Gander Mountain ads are a huge lie. I got the Thanksgiving flier and noticed the Garmin Oregon 200 in there for a great price (too good to be true apparently). I read the ad making sure I could get the sale price on line-it seemed I could as there was an online item number and the flier stated "Can't make it to the store? Shop online 24/7 at GanderMtn.com" I even waited for the correct hours stated in the flier (between 3 and 9pm). I could not get the flier price to come up on the website so I called the 800 number. I was assured that if I ordered the item at the web price (369.99) and called at 8am Friday morning, the price would be adjusted to the sale price (199.99). Of course I called at 8am sharp this morning and have been getting the run around all day waiting for calls and repeatedly calling back.
After being told it was an in store only item (I guess one has to guess which items they offer online since they imply they are all available on line) for the last time (I have had enough wasting one whole day waiting for calls from GM reps that never come) I cancelled the order and assured the rep I would never be bothering Gander Mountain again because I will NEVER shop at the site or store again. My friend at work had me order a $100 gift card for a nephew with my order which I also cancelled. I will be advising him to get a Cabella's or Dick's card instead.
Gander Mountain is terrible and they should be ashamed of this Thanksgiving sale flier with all of the false promises. Nowhere in the ad did it state certain items are only available at the stores.

I too got screwed by Gander Mountain. It was to be available online, as stated in the flyer.
I monitored it all day Thanksgiving, and all morning on Black Friday.
First, the unit isn't $450 like Gander Mountain staes. That price is so inflated.
Anways, the unit was listed at $369.99 for the pervious weeks flyer,
So $369.99 all day Thurdays, and from midnight till 9am on Friday, and they it changed it to "Item sold Out" around 9am.
What a scam. The local Gander Mountain had 2 in stock, as told to me by the manager when I arrived at noon.
GANDER MOUNTAIN IS A JOKE, DO NOT SHOP AT GANDER MOUNTAIN.
CABELLA from now on for me.
no employee to help when needed
My husband and I went into the local Gander Mountain to purchase some ammo for our guns. We stood at their gun counter for over 30 mintues and there was no help to be seen. The only young man that we saw that worked there was talking to a buddy of his and just seem to ignore us and then when he finished talking to his friend, he just walked off. I worked for Sears for 2 years and I know that you are suppose to be helping the customer instead of talking to your friends, especially since we were standing there asking for help. We do not appreciate being treated this way. I can say that Gander Mountain in Sherwood, Arkansas has lost our business for good and I hope after you read this you also will think twice about giving them your business. Sincerely, Mr. and Mrs. Caves

Really? You and your husband stood at the counter for " over 30 minutes" and never once asked anyone to help yoo? You two just stood there even when you saw an employees? Really?
That's terrible service. I had a similar situation happen to me at the local Gander in my town. I know at my job too, we are supposed to drop what we're doing to help the customer let alone be talking to a friend! Completely Unacceptable! This company should focus more on there customer service.
gift card fraud
Beware gander mountain gift cards! I had a $100 gift card, made $75 of purchases, and when I went back a week later to use the rest they told me the card had zero $ left on it. I asked them what was bought with the last $25 because I didn't buy anything, but the store refused to prove me wrong. They just said you must have used it, and if you have a problem to call their customer service. I called the number but again they said they were not able to pull up what was bought with the fictitious $25 charge. I will never shop at gander mountain again... I'll use academy, bass pro shops, or cabelas before I ever use a store with such horrendous customer service.

I found two shirts that were a great bargain online. I ordered the shirts feeling happy to have found such a bargain. Deals like that help a lot toward making Christmas gifts more affordable. It takes time invested to find some of these deals. My order went through, then a few days later I get an email which in part reads:
" ...We apologize that the items you purchased have sold out. We have canceled your order and there were no charges to your card. We apologize for the inconvenience and are working on improvements to avoid this in the future..." There was no effort to compensate me me for my time and lost bargain. A coupon or similar clothing items for the same price would have gone a long way with me. The technology to prevent the kind of error they made is been available and I favor sites that use it. Once the purchase has been made online, it's a deal. It is not OK to reverse the deal on the customer who is counting on that great bargain without offering at a minimum a discount for their next order. I do realize these things happen and Gander Mountain did not purposely mean to let me down. I forgive the mistake although I am highly unlikely to shop there again.
I dropped my rifle off to have it drilled for a scope mount which I included.I was told 2 weeks which was fine with me.I waited a month and a half and went in was told it hadnt been done but would be don by next tuesday.I went in & it hadnt been touched & it took 15 minutes for him to find the mount when I asked for the gun back.I dont wast to hear its been busy if you are not going to service people on a timely basis quit wasting your customers time & stick to selling polar fleece !
GMTN of FLA DM steals boat trailer
Since this is the "District manager" I assume it will be overlooked or swept aside since other things have gone on in this particular store and no one was disciplined, maybe because they had people involved or with things to hide "looking" into them. This trailer issue is (blatant theft), when notified they need to count for inventory in January, District manager Esposito instructed the store manager to just count it as if it were there, (fraud). District manager Esposito told store he would have it transferred to another store as they were losing boat and trailer business, but would not tell which store to transfer it to. As of this date, district manager Esposito, has not paid for it (theft), nor had store transfer it, Chris Duffy, operations ASM, was told and said he would turn it over to store manager, Dan Engen. The powersports manager was laid off prior to March 1st, so who knows what else is going on at this location and other stores throughout the district that district manager Esposito oversees. In order to run ethical and profitable store's for stockholders and business in general, this behavior is a detrement to success. You might also wish to look into the reason(s) district manager Esposito has left his previous three jobs after only short periods of time. I am not sure if others are complicit in these illegal acts of just afraid to cross the district manager for fear of retaliation, but I am sure that the district manger has stolen this Gander mountain property, and after 5 months, does not intend to pay for it. I have considered contacting the state attorney's office to investigate as I believe it is a conspiracy to defraud the stockholders and a violation of state law.

boat motor has never worked right
I purchased a Crestliner Tritoon Pontoon boat from Gander Mountain in Spring, TX . The 150 Mercury Verado has never worked right and Gander Mountain does not service the motor anymore. We have been told the warranty and Mercury must deal with the problem. After being stranded on the lake several times in dangerous circumstances with my family, we are faced with few options. I owe the finance company $35, 000.00 and cannot just buy a new motor. if I give boat back my credit is trashed. If Gander Mountain won't replace the $12, 000.00 motor(we know from a former employee that they have replaced entire boats) then we are at the mercy of the warranty and stuck in limbo. My wife refuses to get on the boat anymore. I have had $500.00 boats that have performed better. Mercury sings the same tune. We are sick of it and will probably go to the local media soon.

While on vacation we stopped at Gander Mountain and purchused four pairs of Ignite camo Under Armor sandals . I called and complained to the Charmbersburg, PA. Not even two weeks later " ALL FOUR PAIRS WERE FALLING APART." They set me a despite form and I filled it out and sent it back. I was told I would have to return the sandals to the store where I bought them to get my money back. I am not driving eight hours . So I am out over two hundred dollars !
I took my 30/30 Winchester, which I received from my husband 45 years ago for a first anniversary, to Gander mt. to have it re-blued on 9/27/2008. After several calls to the Coldwater Mi. store, I was told in March it had been sent to Saginaw to be re-blued, then I was informed that parts had been lost while in Saginaw and had to be ordered. I was assured it was only a couple of screws. Yesterday I received a call that it was ready to be picked up, the cost was $190.00, that amount was lowered to $125.00 during a Phone call before I picked it. Now this gun was not new when when I received it, but it was valued at over $1500 two years ago and I knew it would be lower after having the work done . I just wanted it to be passed down in the family, not to sell it. The gun had not been cleaned well before bluing and the site and lever had not been re-blued., Holes from a scope were to be filled with brazed metal, they put screws in them instead, part of the hammer/firing plate was replaced with a white metal .They did a very poor job which took 3 days short of 7 months to finish. Now I have a gun which doesn't look much better with parts that are not part of the gun I took to them, there were more than a couple screws were lost. I am thinking about court action if this is not resolved.
If you purchased a Mercury motor with your boat, why don't you simply take the motor to a Mercury Authorized Service Center and get the thing fixed? Your Gander Mountain no longer providing service has nothing to do with the fact that the motor is covered by Mercury's Manufacturer's Warranty. And what mercy do you speak of? If there is a defect in the motor since the very beginning as you state, what cost will there be to you? Lastly, what makes it Gander Mountain's fault that your Mercury motor has a defect?

ad
They refuse to post an online ad. When I contacted customer service I never got a reply. I think they're going out of business and they hope everyone with gift cards is oblivious. I will never shop there again, they are rude and do not care about their customers.

I work at the Gander Mountain in Corsicana, TX as a customer service associate. And I have to say most firearms associates are going to think they are better than anyone else, I don't know why but they do; we have a guy in our firearms dept. that thinks he is God, go figure. But the posting online ads thing is that the operations manager does that stuff and customer service would not know anything about the online ads. I'm sorry your experiences with Gander Mountain were not happy ones.
I was in the green bay gander mountain store, where an employee in the gun department cut down my sport of hunting with hounds. He was very rude, and had not reason to say what he did. if he feels that way aboout hunting, maybe he should go and work for PETA. i will never walk into another Gander Mountain again, and i hope all houndsman do the same if that is how they feel about our sport.. I will not give them another dollar. This is at least the third time they have been rude and unhelpful-but this was the last straw.
I have nothing but luck every time I go into the Gander Mountain located in Indianapolis. The staff is extremely friendly. I can tell the place is well managed because everyone seems so happy.
poor website design
Ad my son not been adamant that he wanted something from Gander Mountain, the experience I had with your web site would have sent me directly to Bass Pro Shops. Their web site does not work with Firefox or other non-Internet Explorer browsers. This means that around 15-17% of your customers cannot use the checkout process - more than 1 out of 8!
#2 When I finally figured out that problem, when I finally finished the process, when I submitted my CC info and checked out, I got a database error. I reentered my info and got the same error. In this day in age there is no reason at ALL to have a web site that is specific to a web browser, particularly one that is so prone to security attacks and poor web standards compliance.
Finally, when I tried to use the feedback form (the ONLY way to provide feedback) it would not let me do so unless I specified what store I used, which did not apply to a web purchase. I tried to email all the normal email addresses [protected]@gand... [protected]@gan... [protected]@gan... and none of them were valid.
When I tried to talk to customer service, all I could get was a recorded message to leave a message. Yeah right. Stupid web design - poor customer service. I wish I had had the option to go to Bass Pro Shops web site to make this purchase.
I find this complaint to be pretty hard to believe considering Gander Mountain had no e-commerce options on their website until August 3rd, 2008, meaning there was not product available for purchase on their site until over 2 months after you wrote this. I'd love to know what you were trying to purchase as you simply did not have that option until 4 days ago.
