GateCrafters Buyer beware!!! Sales rep and manager lied and didn't return phone calls when promised - item yet to arrive and counting 3.5 weeks later.

On May 11th, 2023 ordered 1050 Control Board and was assured by Sales Rep Elvin it would arrive in 3-5 business days. This is the email I sent to them: I ordered a Nice/Apollo 1050 Gate Opener Smart Control Board for an elderly client with disabilities. I was assured that the board would be received in 3-5 days. Order was made on 5/11/2023. Board never arrived and I contacted your company 5/17/23 and was told it would be 2 weeks maximum by your rep Denise. I asked to speak to manager she said manager was out lunch. I left 3 messages and finally the next day at 10:51 am your manager Judy Luciano returned my call, no apology just excuses. Judy guaranteed that my order would arrive Friday, May 26th and if it did not she would call me personally to let me know status. Judy never called and in fact I have left messages on her direct line on the 28th, 31st and and now June 2nd.

This elderly lady with a disability that I am installing this for lives on hill in rural area that has both mountain lions and bears which is why she has an automatic gate system. Your reps and company are putting her health in danger. Not a good look for a company.

Stay away from this company.

GateCrafters Sold wrong parts, won’t refund

I have waited 2 years to write this review. The last year, I have been waiting for a resolution to a problem I experienced which has gone to pot. I ordered a complete set-up for a double-swing gate on my 20’ wide driveway, buried loop and all. Anthony was very helpful in getting what I thought I needed. It arrived timely and complete, but we waited to install due to winter weather and time constraints on our schedule. When we finally went to install 6 months later, we realized that we had 2 parts that wouldn’t work for our driveway. I was sold a single loop that wasn’t wide enough to properly fit my drive space. In working with Liftmaster and BD Loops directly, we realized that we needed to install a different loop and that the sensor bar I was sold was also insufficient. When I contacted Gatecrafters, and finally got in touch with the right person, who was VERY slow to respond, I was informed that they would not accept my 2 unopened items for return because it was out of the 30-day return period. So, after spending over $2,000, they wouldn’t exchange these parts for the parts I needed, which would have been about another $700 spent with them. In my opinion, this is not good customer service. Even Liftmaster expressed surprise at their unwillingness to stand behind product. Shameful. Take heed and don’t wait to install! Hope you don’t have any problems with your ordering. Maybe you will be fine. But I will never spend another cent with this company.

Desired outcome: Refund for two items

GateCrafters Sales lady issues

BE WARNED

I HATE TO SEE ANY COMPANY GET A NEGATIVE RATING OVER 1 SINGLE PERSON WHO IS THE ISSUE... BUT HERE WE GO

Before we get into the review for GateCrafters I want to say I love your website, marketing an prices... but have stop using you personally an professionally... I think its complete bs that 1 single person created such a negative experience... I know I am NOT thr only customer that has had this experience

I called gatecrafters an verified with sales lady that the parts I was looking at would work with ghost controls... before ordering them online... why not ask they are the experts RIGHT?.. she told me the parts would work with ghost controls she ordered them for me and I paid..

When I recieved the parts totally did NOT work. HERE IS WHERE IT REALLY GETS EVEN WORSE! I ordered parts, paid for fast delivery (which they didnt arrive until 2 days after when they were suppose to be here.. not gate craftera fault.. ut wqs post marked correctly) I get parts and go to install them... NOGO... but thats why I asked the experts right?

I called gate crafters an wouldnt you know same lady... I explained the parts were not universal with ghost controls... when I told her she was the one who I worked with... suddenly she didn't have anything to say...instead of waiting to see what she was going to try an say next... I told her these need to be refunded...

EVEN MORE INSULT TO INJURY... she stated I would have to

1. Pay to ship them back

2. Pay a restock fee

If they felt the parts were not damaged... lol wow right?

3. Already paid for expedieted delivery... I realize its not vate crafters fault but it sbould also be conidered in the decisio. To put the screws to yet anothet customer

I asked her to ask her manager if they would waive these fees etc... she put me on hold for like 30 second or so... she stated that the manager said no... I AM WILLING TO SAY SHE DIDNT TELL HER MANAGER... THAT SHE SAID THEY WOULD FIT... AND THE PARTS DIDN'T

I am positive I was not the first person that this has happened too an sure I wouldn't be the last...

GateCrafters service is unacceptable for any reputable company.

Was just informed that the order I placed 6 month ago has not been placed (for the second time) and additionally I will need to pay an extra $1000 before the order can be placed and then wait 3 more months. Additionally since the gate operator I ordered and was shipped separately I can not be refunded even though it is has not been opened and is in the original packing and also the screw ups were the company's not mine.

Both Web Direct and Gate Crafters are terrible company and should be avoided. They have tied up my "total payment" for 6 months and now want more. Totally irresponsible behavior for a company with no attempt to satisfy the customer. They just don't give a rip.

Again do not use these guy.

GateCrafters wrong remotes for transmittor in CBOX 936 gate opener kit

Have purchased a CBOX 936 gate opener kit from gate crafters..They send me the wrong remotes (6) for the transmitter. Have attenpted 6 times to program the new remotes, i have failed. I called NICE tech help. They told me the remotes will not work with the transmitter Gate Crafters send me. The picture in th instructions in the "Installation & Programming Manual" show a different remote than was sent to me.

Desired outcome: I need the correct 6 remotes for transmitter OX/1BD-A

GateCrafters Liftmaster el1ss. Sent back to gatecrafters for warranty service, but never returned

Followed the warranty process to the letter (return authorization directly from Liftmaster, telephone and email correspondence with Gatecrafters), returned to gatecrafters for refurbishment using their mailing process) then nothing. Frustrated calls, emails, etc were met with excuses (eg, "factory was between model runs, etc", or "we will get to it right away"), then no responses at all. Calls go unanswered. Beyond frustrating. I would have pursued local repair if I knew they were not going to return the product I sent. So, now I'm out the money ($700) AND dont even have the option of getting someone to fix it. All while under Liftmaster's warranty window. This company may be the most disorganized mess I've done business with.

GateCrafters estate swing es 1600/1602

From the 1st shipment of my estate swing es1602 I should have known something was not quite right and just gotten my $2000 back. The 1st shipment was an assortment of 1-off pieces. Nothing was in an original box, plus it was missing parts. It went back. The next shipment looked a lot better although not everything was in an original box. It still looked like someone took parts off a shelf and tossed them into a shipping box. That was in evidence because it took another 5 shipments over several months for me to get all the needed parts. That included replacing some of the parts sent to me in error. Then, periodically an issue would arise and the gates would stop working. I would call. either they sent me a new part or explained how to 'repair' the issue. I kept records, I know who I spoke to and when. Now after year 3 the motherboard is fried. They want ~ $180 from me to get me gate working. I will probably put the parts on E-bay as I'm going to another company to get a better quality gate opener.

GateCrafters Cheap products that will break

I purchased an expensive gate system from Gate Crafters who is a subsidiary of Web Direct Brands. The product they sold me was an Estate Swing gate system which includes the motors, brackets and control board. Estate Swing is a subsidiary company to Gate Crafters and Web Direct Brands. When talking to anyone at any of these three companies you are dealing and talking with Web Direct Brands. Now that this information is out there, they sold me a gate for top dollar compared to any other system on the market for my needs. They assured me that it would work perfect for my setup and shipped me the product. Day one the control board had an issue, So I shipped it back for repair. Once I received it, I got everything hooked up, then the motor on the control arm stopped working. I shipped it back and they repaired it. Then the second motor (dual gate system) broke. The casing of the motor cracked and the repaired one they sent back cracked as well. I talked to the company for weeks trying to get a refund for these low quality items. But they will not stand behind the products and have no interest in helping me. They have horrible customer service and very cheap products you would expect from a Chinese knockoff with a price you would expect from a high quality item. The system did not work and now I’m stuck with an “expensive” gate system that is complete garbage. Their staff is even worse than their products as 3 managers I was dealing with throughout this process had left the company. Web Direct Brands is a scam and I would never recommend them for anything.

GateCrafters Solar Powered Gate Opener

Ordered a solar-powered gate opener two years ago. It has worked about one month in that whole time. I don't have time to list all the problems, and you don't want to read them. Just stay away from GateCrafters. I WASTED over $2, 000 of my hard-earned money on this poorly-engineered, cheap junk. They sent me new arms, that didn't help. They sent me a new control board, that didn't help. The remote receiver is broken now. And multiple times they have sent me the wrong parts. Sent in the second control board for assessment 6 weeks ago, still no reply. Their service department tries, but ultimately nothing they suggest ever works and the years go on with a bunch of non-working junk attached to my gate. I've given up and am having a professional install a quality system. Do yourself a favor. Don't buy a cheap junk gate opener like this. Either do without or buy quality. If you really want to waste $2, 000, go burn it in your fireplace because at least it will warm up your house.

GateCrafters This company refused to take responsibility for the broken gates

We hired the company www.gatecrafters.com. They worked 5 days and installed the gates. The gates looked terrible and scratched, so we told the rep that it wasn’t ok. But the rep told me that it was fine and these scratches would influence on the work of the gates. But these gates worked 5 months and now we couldn’t close them. But the company refused to take the responsibility for the work.

GateCrafters Service, detail to design

I guess I should have read reviews here before getting my gate through gatecrafters. Service was very poor and unapologetic. Initial email request for quote received no response, had to follow up with call directing them to please "read their mail". Mails afterwards were generally not returned - required follow up calls, and then got conflicting answers on my order. Finally order was placed and was completed within estimated 2 weeks. Wrong tracking order was sent by email, so I spent 4 confusing days with FedEx trying to arrange a delivery they claimed had not been shipped yet. Called gatecrafters, then they then sent the right tracking number (no apology). Gate arrives and one set of hinge barrels were 6" away from specification location on posts, and one set of hinge bolts on gate were not welded on at all. Errors were not critical for my application - I'm lucky I could work around it. Save yourself frustration and continue looking elsewhere.

GateCrafters Bad service, Bad product, poor shipping

From the first moment I dealt with this company, I knew I should have been more careful. Customer service at the beginning was very poor. They forgot my order and failed to call back after an inquiry. Eventually when they realized I was goinf to spend about $5000 with them, they paid some attention. I ordered the DIY gate and it came with pitiful instructions. The instructions did not go into the detail necessary for a DIY installation. This ended up costing me two weekends of work and hiring a welder to come out and reposition the hinges of the gate because they were installed on the wrong side of the post. Additionally, the brackets to hang the gate had the wrong size hole drilled in them. The instructions never mentioned which side to have the hinges facing. They failed to send some of the products that I paid for and the gate once unpacked had huge gouges out of the aluminum. The gouges were covered by the shipping cardboard. My advice...do not buy from Gatecrafters.com. They say they have excellent technical support but the yahoos on the other end of the phone really don't seem like they know what they are doing. My biggest complaint however, is that if you are planning to do this yourself, think twice. The instructions are seriously lacking in detail and schematics.

GateCrafters POOR SERVICE

First off I should have read the previous complaints before buying from GateCrafters so I could save myself the drama of no service after you buy. Once they have your money they don't care. We had to make a return and replace a part, they said they would send out the new one and deduct the cost from what we were returning, after three calls and the new part not being mailed out they said it had to be paid for first before mailing, not a problem but that is not what they said. I returned the item and after 5 days of their receipt of the item I had to call because there was no credit issued. Judy said she received the item"today" and is issueing the credit today. Four days later I called and Judy was off and no credit issued. Supposedly it has been handles and the credit was issued today. They also do not know how to hook lights to a solar panel in which they sell. It has been a lot of extra unnecessary calls to their company

this company is NOT worth the headaches

Buyer beware! Purchased a thousand dollar aluminum gate which is now peeling after only two years. The peeling is so excessive that we will need to sand/paint the whole gate. Company now states that warranty for paint is only one year.

GateCrafters poor technical support

Very poor technical support.I had several issues including the return of infrared sensors.They sent me a new set but problem still persisted.Followup call was totally useless as is the info sheet provided by the mfr.It was written in english but as would be spoken in chinese.made no sense whatsoever.I resolved this issue by calling a competitor.Several other things required speaking with them but I discovered they are VERY poorly trained despite their so called certifications.
Fortunately I am an engineer and only wanted their input in order to avoid damaging equipment.In other words, confirmation from the seller.Quite a normal procedure in business.

In summary, I would say stay away from gatecrafters.They aren't worth the heartburn.

We are the ONLY Company in the US with live 7 day a week technical support designed specifically for the Do-it-Yourself Homeowner/installer. We have sold over 45, 000 gate openers directly to home owners. Our support is second to none, I wish we had the opportunity to make this customer happy, we surly would have!

GateCrafters communication/shipping

This company sucks at shipping items and communicating to customers. I ordered $1200 worth of accessories and a gate opener for my house on March 9th. It is now March 23rd. I have no gate opener and I have no tracking number. On their website it states they provide a tracking number on all orders. Not true.

I did get a few things I ordered, last week. After a nasty email to them they provided me a tracking number to another part of my order that shipped on the 20th. The order should have shipped sooner than 11 days after I ordered it.

The gate opener I still don't know about but I recommend that you pursue another company when ordering. It appears that this company simply drop ships all items and really has no vested interest in customer support

What the customer above said about the time frames is correct. We fully acknowledge we dropped the ball on the order above and it is a mistake we do not regularly make. We ran out of stock and had to ship direct from the manufacturer and it took much longer than we like for our shipments to take. The customer had/has our sincerest apologies and we do try to keep a large stock so issues like this do not happen.

This is the point we wanted to write to refute about his statement above. We are not a company that drop ships most items. We stock the majority of our products in our facility in Florida. We can show our facilities to anyone that wants to see them through pictures, video tour or if you are in the area - in person. Local customers come to pick up product daily. Just let us know.

We also wanted to refute that we don't have a commitment to customer support. We have phone support hours for installation assistance 7 days/week, 9am - 9pm eastern. We have the largest staff of factory trained technicians in the US. All of our phone support is done in the US, not outsourced to other countries like other companies. Many of our reps and technicians have been with our company for over 3 years and a few for almost a decade. E-mails are sent with every order when the label is created, the customers' e-mail address is imported directly into the UPS or Fed Ex label creator from our database to avoid human error, and the tracking is then sent automatically from Fed Ex or UPS. The customer above not receiving a tracking e-mail was because of the out of stock delay and we normally do send e-mails and/or phone calls notifying of delays; but like we said above, in this individual situation the ball was dropped and we do apologize.

GateCrafters Lousy Product|Terrible Customer Service

The worst product I have ever bought in my life. The gate is spray painted and not even well. The gate opener is non-workable and is a worthless unit as far as quality. I called customer service and was put on endless hold, spoke to someone who can't speak the english language & received no response to my emails. I asked for the owner, some melon head named Tony who proceeded to sound as educated as the donkeys and horses I bought the gate for. I spent nearly $3000.00 for this scrap heap pile of junk. Oh and trying to get a refund, , , impossible. Just another internet company stealing $$$ and not being ashamed of doing so. DO NOT buy anything from this so called gatecrafter! You'll be sorry you did...

GateCrafters Wrong items shipped / no service

I ordered a gate and opener from these guys, only to find out they shipped the wrong posts, making installation impossible. I called to tell them the problem and they said they would take care of it right away and send me the correct posts. Three weeks later and they have done nothing. When I call, their standard reply is that the guy in charge is aware from his desk. There's never a call back. Emails are never returned. Once they have your money, you'll never hear from them again.

I bought a set of gates and agree that the finish (spray paint) is rather chincy but for $159 what do you expect. The gates look good and were $1500 cheaper than anadized one's so I can touch them up with a $2.99 can of spray enamel once a year. Since gatecrafters subcontracts the gate manufacture they have to wait for replacement parts and have to order everything in for replacements. In their defense, when I broke the pins on the gate arms I bought them from them for $18.00 and they shipped right away. I would buy from these guys again but they are a bit slow on new gates but no slower then the other guys . The gates look good from the street, but they need to weld a flat plate to the gates to install the arm bracket. This is left for the installer to jury rig and only 3 of the 4 mounting holes.
