Computer service
I am writing for an employee
Their services were used one before, and everything was fine. Bought a service contract for close to $300. This entitled 24/7 service for a year.
Was about to Skype into a news program for expert testimony. Search engine wouldn't work due to a computer update that didn't take.
Called. I have a Mac, as the majority of people in the entertainment industry. This person was obviously reading a manual trying to figure out what to do. He couldn't figure it out, admitting that he didn't know Macs.
Transferred to another individual (Steven.). Steven picked up his manual and made the computer worse.
Was asked to call back tomorrow. Explained the computer was needed for work and there was a service contract purchased to be able to obtain 24/7 service. Was told you were transferred to me! He explained the person who knew Macs was not available.
Explained again, the computer was required for work. Steven spoke to his ‘supervisor' who said someone would call back in a half hour to fix the computer.
The call, of course, never came. Was unable to Skype into the news program and my appearance was cancelled.
Computer services
Terrible company! They'll promise anything to get an appointment and your credit card information. They sell grossly overpriced services and products. They have no employee technicians, they are Independent Contractor technicians and completely unvetted as to their competence and skill level, sent to solve computer problems. Headquarters are in the U.S. with terrible offshore phone tech support, mostly South America, who can't speak legible English. How is company still in business?!
computer repair
On or about March 25 2020 I called Geeks on Site (Yellow Pages San Francisco, CA tel: [protected]) about a computer problem. I was told to go my computer and follow their instructions. I did this and shortly after they locked my computer and a voice said they found a virus and I had to pay $299.00. I refused and asked they unlock my computer but they hung up. They did not unlock my computer.
unauthorized credit card charge
We are a small sign making company So we got a phone number from phone book.
Needed repair on our HP 24" wide format printer ASAP.
Geeks on Site was listed in our area I Called & arranged for on site service repair.
The phone receptionist took information from me then insisted I give a credit number
I told her I may pay cash depending on the cost of the repair
She then assured me the card information is only for $30.00 service call.
After the Service tech came to our on site location & worked on unit.
he did not fix it.
Bob the tec had (Geek on site )fax a invoice to him at our address.
I asked "if that is a bill"I not using the credit card she has "
Bob said No, this is not a bill The company will send us one.
My bank notified us They gave us a over draft charge $35.00 because the "Geek on Site"company unauthorized $232.65 charged my account.
I have been in touch with the company Sat Aug 31 then again Sept 13th
To resolute this issue We would like to have the company contact our bank and acknowledge their Unauthorized credit card charge & ask the Bank to reverse the overdraft fee which Geek on site caused on my account.

worked for them
Be aware of this company. They will hire you as a tech then let you go when you can't repair a customers machine, and telling the customer and them that they will fire you. Do not work for this company. They under pay their technicians arefor andthe jobs or travel time barely paid and they blame the technician for not submitting their contracts to them. I am a former employee for this company and they don't treat anyone correctly.
I think you might have saved me friend. I was looking through their "handbook" and it screamed scam tech service. Some News channel should do a show about them.
incompetent "tech" being billed for a fix he didn't accomplish
Do NOT use this service in Dallas. My machine would not boot to Windows, just to BIOS. Geeks On Site sent out a "tech" who immediately started fiddling with the BIOS settings, saw that the HD was not in the boot list (this means that the HD was inoperable), and - decided my machine wouldn't boot because the CMOS (internal clock) battery was dead. I'm not kidding. He insisted on sending us out for a replacement, even though I knew that incorrect time will only affect programs, which couldn't be accessed because the HD was dead. I should have known what was up when he asked me for a screwdriver to open the PC case with because he didn't have one with him.
I had expected him to boot from an external drive and try to run a repair and recovery on the HD. Didn't happen.
The "tech" talked / rambled incessantly the entire time he was here, to the point that I had to go to another part of the house to get away from the nonstop babble. I got the impression that he deals with people who know nothing at all about computers, as he continued to ramble about irrelevancies even after I told him I did software support for 15+ years.
Finally, after the CMOS battery was installed (two hours into the service call and counting), he admitted that he couldn't fix the issue, had me sign an invoice, and left. I signed the invoice just to get him to leave.
I called another computer service tech, who came in, booted the machine from his thumb drive (which I had asked the Geeks On Site "tech" to do as soon as he arrived, but he was too busy messing with the BIOS to listen), verified that the HD was fried by the simple expedient of disconnecting it from my machine's motherboard and hooking it to his laptop with an adapter.
He replaced my HD with a new SSD drive, and again (using his Win 10 bootable thumb drive) downloaded Windows 10 and used my existing Windows 7 Pro key to validate the new O/S.
Total elapsed time? Under an hour, including restoring my system / documents backups.
Now Geeks On Site is calling me and threatening to sue because I refuse to pay for their incompetent "tech"'s inability to do his job.
Good luck with that, fellas.
Geeks on Site is a scammer company. They also scammed the time on their own technicians too. One thing you have to understand that their technicians are not their actual employees, they are 1099 contractors and they don't get pay for travel to the customer sites unless the site is above 30 miles away from technician's home. They even charged customer money for the laptop or computer which is only 2 weeks old. Any customer called for hardware support for their new laptop, they should tell customer contact the manufacturer for support if the laptop or PC is under a year old. But Geeks on site just wants your money, they don't care about that. especially the elder person. That is Geeks on site's biggest targets. How do I know because I worked for them, that why I know.
ethernet cable installation
BEWARE! They charge by the hour and a simple installation of adding a ethernet cable to the ones we already have cost me $149 for first hour, $25 every 15 minutes after 1st hour = $449.00 USD The tech that came to our store wasted his time standing still and looking at the ceiling, then he went and took 33 minutes of lunch break and came back. I complained and I didn't get compensation refund for the time he stole from us. I just got smart remarks and WE DON'T' CARE WHAT YOU SAY ATTITUDE: Company said to me: " Online reviews do not hurt us because we depend on our hundreds of yellow page phone book ads in hundreds of cities, we do not depend on online. " Check out my picture to see whole video. I am assuming this review won't hurt you since you don't depend on hundreds of yellow pages.
computer service
I got a bad feeling about this outfit while discussing my computer issue on the phone. Stupidly, I gave them my credit card number before I fully realized that they didn't need it before making a service call and shouldn't be asking for it. So I cancelled the appointment we had just made and told them to forget about it. They charged my credit card $210 anyway. Did they think I wouldn't notice? This is a scam operation, set up to elicit credit card numbers from multitasking fools like me.
some customers awful feedbacks
well well well I am a current employee of Geeks on site and dealing with the public is never a piece of cake. as a CSR I get calls from customers who are polite and friendly, customers who are rude and think that they can mistreat people who are trying to help them only because they are paying some cash which is totally unfair. some customers will ill-treat you because you have an accent. I find this behaviour very close-minded we are all humans regardless of where we are and what language we speak. We always try our best to satisfy our customers. some of our customers will deliberately try to get their way and threaten us about reporting us to the BBB or FBI just to get their way. every company has their rules and policy, terms and conditions which of course are mentioned before we offer any service.
1: 7 days warranty for the same issue we fixed but no customers will call for (Y) problem and after 2 or 3 weeks calls back to get free service or warranty and when we tell them that they are out of guarantee they will run to the social media to write bad reviews about us. we have a 2 hours window for the tech to arrive, it takes 24/48 hours to get a call back because we have thousands of customers in USA and Canada we are not perfect sometimes few new techs will mess up but we always make it up to our customers. all of our old techs take their Jobs seriously and personally they are so professional and they always look out for our customers. if we were posting recordings here or anywhere on the websites where we have a low rating, everyone will apologise to us for scandalizing our reputation. unfortunately, we are not able to satisfy everyone and the unsatisfied customers are the ones that will do this some of them called in saying that we messed up the computer but refused to show us what they are talking about and request refund that is so tricky. it's like buying a chicken take it home to cook it and go back to the supermarket the next day and tell them that they sold me a rotten chicken and I need my money back! where"s the chicken and the proof? aha! I wish I could explain so many scenarios here but it will take me years.. btw I love working with the older folks they are so much fun to work with some of them are deaf, some of them have health conditions, some makes me laugh on the phone, we have every kind of customers even the ones that cussed me up but we are still here providing services for everyone ... a little advice...social media is not the solution to our problems.. if there's a problem, let's fix it we have mouths to talk so why not talk about it ? will you be happy by seeing another business go down just because they did not live up to your expectation? the answer is NO nothing has changed even with all the negative posts and low ratings we still get new customers daily .. I would like to apologise to all those unsatisfied customers out there please know that it was never our intention to give you a bad experience give us a second chance to make it up to you no one is perfect and I am sure if you have given us the chance, we would have solved your problem. I love helping people and making sure their needs are met and their problems are solved. Peace and love from Geeks on Site :)
here we treat our customers like family, besides fixing your computer, we listen to your problems and offer you a shoulder to lean on and also some piece of advice. whenever you need someone to talk to, Geeks on site is here to listen isn't that wonderful? what are you waiting for pick up the phone now and get your computer fixed .
and thanks to all those that gave a low rating and negative feedbacks we are using that to improve our services and make Geeks On Site a better company for all our existing and future customers..
thanks to the customers that always call us to inform us about other companies pretending to be us love ya!
more stars for Geeks on-site I love this company and all my good and faithful customers
No matter what they say, Geeks on Site is a SCAM! I want a refund.

unethical behaviour/falsifying information
I was having some problems with my computer back in february. I kept getting a message that said something to the effect of "warning, your hard drive is about to fail, backup your files, etc." I suppose that should have been enough for me to heed the warning and take my computer to the local office depot to let them tell me what was going on, but not being tech savvy I decided to call geeks on site. I called them on 2/25 (I think) and they scheduled an appointment for 2/26/18 between 12 and 4. I was outside working in the yard and I came in at 3:20 pm, (still waiting on the tech) and I had a message from cs at geeks stating "your tech will be there between 11 am and 1 pm. I called cs back and told them that I had received a message stating the tech would be here between 11 and 1, it was now after 3 and he still had not come. Customer service said they would call the tech and find out what was going on. The tech called me around 3:30 and said he was"running late"but should be here by 4 pm. At 4:30 pm I received a call from my sister. I told her I was"waiting for the tech guy"and had been waiting for him all day. At about 4:45 he comes pulling into the driveway. He comes in, turns on my computer and says,"oh, I see what's wrong, you need a new hard drive". He sits here and looks at my computer and removes some things he said"I didn't need", we talk about everything from his new house to his daughter wanting a dog, etc. He has an invoice form in front of him. I see him scribbling stuff on it, he says,"here, just initial right here". I initialed the invoice and then he asks me if I have a copy machine so he can make a copy of the invoice to leave for me. I told him"no"I did not have a copy machine. He then said,"no problem, i'll e-mail you a copy as soon as I get home". He left at 4:25 pm. The next day someone from geeks calls me to discuss the service. He says something about the tech getting here at 3:00 pm and leaving at 5:30 pm. I stopped him right away and told him"that was not correct". He then proceeds to tell me,"well, look at your invoice, you initialed the times". I told him he did not leave me an invoice, he told me he would e-mail me a copy of the invoice but he did not. The guy then tells me,"i'll e-mail you a copy of the invoice". To this day I have not received an invoice from geeks and now I know why. When I disputed the $297.00 with my credit card company they received a reply from geeks, along with a copy of the invoice I never received. My credit card company in turn sent the copy of the invoice to me and it had the time of arrival"3:00 pm, my initials were next to this time and 5:30 pm as the time of departure, and the tech had forged my initials next to this time. They also stated "the customer has 1 hr. And 30 minutes left with us that she can use any time. This tech is a"contract"worker, he stated"when you get ready to put in a new hard drive, call me, I can do it for you and I am a lot cheaper than these guys". This guy was here less than 45 minutes, everything on the invoice was falsified plus he forged my signature. I did not understand why the tech or the geeks did not e-mail me an copy of the invoice, now I know why, it was all falsified. Of course my credit card company wants documentation from me before they will reverse the charges but I have none. I was given nothing in writing so I am stuck with a $297.00 charge. These people are crooks, [censored] and liars.
computer repair
I spoke with the Geeks onsite office and the guy told me there are located in Florida and have a good rating with the BBB. I looked up the Florida BBB online and they are not listed with the BBB anywhere in Florida. I then googled them and saw that they are located in Peru and are lying to their potential customers about their location and being in the BBB. I am not going to use them due to their lying and misrepresentation. I also googled the reviews from their employees. Lots of negative reviews about working for them and how they try to get out of paying, low pay, no reimbursement, etc. Customer reviews include being ripped off, over charges, no refunds, etc.
computer repair
I was on vacation when my computer ceased to function for me. In the middle of what I was doing the screen went blank and I got a notice saying error with the cooling system. After researching it online I discovered that the cause for this is usually dust and dirt on the fan. Not being familiar with the local area I called a national Computer Service which was Geeks on site. A very nice gentleman by the name of Andre came to my vacation rental home to fix the computer. I was quoted a price of $297 for 4 hours service. I was told that if they did not utilize the full 4 hours that the additional hours would go into a bank for me and I could use it for future computer repairs. When the tech arrived at my apartment he began to work on the computer. He was unable to remove all the parts from the back of the computer two get to the cooling system. He said he was not familiar with my model compute rand as a result, did not know how to remove all the panels on the back of my computer. He also did not have the compressed air that he needed to clean the fan and he said he did not have all the proper tools. After an hour of attempting to fix a computer he told me that he would have to look up the serial number on my computer and figure out how to open it. And that he would have to come back the following day. When I questioned him as to whether or not I would be charged the full amount if he were unable to fix it he said "yes." After fruitlessly trying to get the entire back of the computer off he replaced the parts he had taken off and attempted to turn the computer back on. It was at this time the computer did not work. It would not even turn on. So, no only was my problem not fixed my computer was now broken. Based on the information that he had given me and telling me that even if he could not fix the computer I would still be charged I decided to purchase a new computer. Which, by the way, cost the same as the total amount Geeks On Site wanted to repair original computer. I then called them and told them I wanted a refund of my money and they told me that since the tech spent an hour at my residence and diagnosed the problem with the computer that they would not give me a full refund. That they would be charging me $99 for the hour of his service. I spoke to several people and waited on hold for long periods of time over the course of 2 days before I was told I would not get my money refunded 100%. After going round and round with a woman over the phone by the name of Martha she hung up on me. Stating that since I could not keep a moderate tone that she what is no longer required to continue our conversation. Do not do business with this company! I wish I had read the reviews before I called them. Being on vacation and unfamiliar with the local businesses was the reason for my poor choice in contacting geeks on site.
computer repair
I called this company after my computer crashed. I paid $297.00 for 4 hours of service. The technician came out and spent about 3.5 hours "fixing" my computer. After he left I discovered several problems that hadn't been fixed. Couldn't open any Office files, couldn't connect to the printer, continued to get error messages on multiple applications. Called again and was told I'd have to pay again. Reminded that person the computer had a 7 day warranty. Remote technician worked on the computer another 4 hours. 2 days later more error messages, Office no longer worked, so they installed Open Office, not a Microsoft product. Told me if I wanted Microsoft Office I'd have to purchase from a retailer. Still getting error messages. Each technician told me the warranty was extended because the computer hadn't been properly repaired. Had to call again 5 days later, more problems. This time I was told the warranty had expired 7 days after the first call. I explained that each of the technicians had told me the warranty was extended and was told that was not the company policy. They said they would listen to the recordings and call me back. Called back the next day and said none of the technicians had extended the warranty. I was basically being called a liar. I didn't pick the warranty date out of thin air. As of today my computer still isn't working properly and still giving error messages. They don't honor their warranty and all they really want is more of your money. After 2 weeks I finally had to purchase a new computer. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.
i posted the original complaint and contacted Geeks on Site as requested by their respons to my complaint. The response from this company was the same as before. Yes, you have a .5 hour credit, but you will need to purchae additional repair time, the warranty was only good for 7 days from the original repair date, a supervixor can listen to the tapes and confirm that no additional warranty was offered. .
I told Darrin (Darwin?) I wanted a refund . Refunds are not an option. After this company failed to fix my computer there is no way I would ever let them work on it again. So as far as I'm concerned, my complaint has not been resolved. People should not use this company. Their customer service is a joke, they don't honor their warranty and their repair work is shabby at best (and that's being kind).
computer services
They never fixed my computer and took over 1800$ from me and the 149$ fee to start the diagnosis! ! These guys are the real deal scam artists and will take you for everything they could! Do NOT use these guys for anything ! They said they would deposit 2000$ into my bank account and that I needed to purchase 2000$ in iTunes gift cards to make the repairs to my computer that was needed to fix it. After I purchased the cards nothing was repaired and they even locked my computer so that even I could not use it after which I brought the pc to geek squad to be repaired which in turn cost me another 210$!
they don't provide help, but they ask for money in advance
OMG. It was real scam. I contacted the techs from the company www.geeksonsite.com. I explained the situation, which happened with my computer. These jerks promised to help, but they needed some money in advance. I really trusted them and provided money, but after that the tech stopped to communicate with me. These people are scammers and liars, who take money and provide nothing. Please post your comments about this company.
overcharging
After a power outage i started having some big issues with my computer so i called GEEKS ON SITE the man i spoke with asked me some questions and assured me that he would have me up and running for $150 and it would be fixed on line. They kept doing the same thing over and over to no avail ! Then they sent a tech out and he did the same thing over n over ! He said he needed to take my computer home with him and he called back alil while later to say my hard drive had crashed...that it would cost me another couple hundred to fix it ! IDK ? red flags went up...Today i notice they charged my acct $25 for some maintenance i never authorized ! WHY WOULD I HAVE THIS COVERAGE ON A COMPUTER I DON'T EVEN HAVE ? I remember them talking to me about the coverage but not authorizing the debit. So i called and told them to stop debiting my acct and give me my money back. She said no you had 30 days to cancel, I said ok let me speak to your superior...She said NO i'm the manager and my word is the final word ? So i went to my bank and the money is supposed to be back in my acct in 12 hours...Lesson learned, never again ! Also, the tech offered to buy mu computer for $150 ? Suspicious...
poor service, overcharging
Called Geeks on Site in Whiteville, NC 12-23-14 a.m. and telephone person stated a tech would come out between 4 and 7pm. The charge would be a special rate of $297 which would cover 4 hours of work. I told the guy that it probably wouldn't take 4 hours, and he said any time left over would be credited to my account. So, I raced home after taking off work early to wait on the repairman. He never showed, never called.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
Geeks On Site is horrible! They stated that they would remove Microsoft Edge form my computer, and didn't. I can't sign in to most of my websites that I am a member of, they are a fraud. I have multiple issues that they screwed up my computer, and I can't access a lot of my sites. Do not use them!
repair service
I bought a new windows 8 after much teeth knawing i decided i needed some professionall help in the functions, etc. Well by my own mistake, i called geeks, i thought i was getting the geek squad from best buy. Well i was wrong, ma culpa, to make this short, they came out and prior too this i put
297. 00 on my credit card for 4 hours of service. Well tech. Took my hard drive out of my old computer with the explanation of retrieving information. They called 2 days later, after my call to them, telling me they couldn't retrieve information, called anther 2 days saying wanted i wanted my hard drive back. Up till now haven;t heard from them. Buyer beware, i think i;ve been scamed. P. S. I had a tech nician from hewellet packard, and they told me the same thing,
Please help me, want my money back. I;m a sr. And my funds are limited. Anything you can do
I also want to warn people do not call for service from geeks on site.
P. S. The c0mputer still did not work, and in the end it cost me over $500, 00 to get it in working order.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
You need to dispute the fraudulent charge with your bank, to see if they can at least investigate and get your money back for you. As far as your hard drive, unless the computer company you bought it from is going to give you a new one, you may be out of luck unfortunately.
unauthorized credit card charges
I got a second hand pc that needed service. They advertise a ONE TIME SERVICE for $149.95. I specifically requested this then later in the phone call he said something about a free month and after that $29.95/mo. I remember telling the guy I only wanted the one time service. They actually fixed the pc! :) and billed me the $149.95 to my credit card.
Buuuut! After a few months I was late balancing my card account and I noticed a $29.95 charge from Geeks On Site for the past two months. I called and spoke to Maria and told her I did not ask for the monthly service and wanted the charges reversed and removed from the service. I was upset but polite. She immediately copped an attitude and started talking disrespectful to me. I have notified them by certified mail, e-mail, customer complaint line, and phone to get something done about this. They have promised that there will be no more monthly charges and my credit card number has been deleted (right) from their system.
This practice of automatically charging is a total scam. When you catch it they will cancel it but forget about getting your money back. There needs to be some type of system in place to prevent this from happening. I feel like I opened my wallet and paid them and then every month they feel entitled to just pull out my wallet and take money out until you notice it, then they say oh, I thought you said it was ok for us to tap your wallet every month.
.
maintenance service
DO NOT use this company...not if you value your computer or your sanity. They crashed my computer while doing routine maintenance. Spent almost three hours with their "recovery" team until they finally determined the computer had crashed.
Denied any responsibility. They could send a repairman to my home for a minimum of 2 hours @ $99.00 per hour. I said I could find someone else for less and I did. I called back and told them I was absolutely fed up with their service and wanted my membership for monthly maintenance service CANCELLED and the automatic deductions from my checking account stopped immediately. Tonight I checked my bank account...you guessed it, they charged me for another month
Had the gall to say I had not cancelled my account. We'll see if they credit my account. Also said they had no record of previous complaints. Just two months before I insisted on receiving a credit for service. Two months before that it was another problem with one of their "Expert" technicians.
Same thing happened to me. I had a contract after they fixed a problem with printing. the next month they called to do check up, My computer was working fine. They had taken original protection off and substitute another that had 3 month trial period, they ran many scans over three days, during that time I could only boot up in safe form. after three days of constant work on my computer it crashed. they admitted that they could not fix it, sent tech to my home free for one hour. He said hard drive shot, gave me invoice 0 amount due. Geeks took the $99 service house fee out of my checking account, and also charged my account for the next month, after I contacted them numerous times to stop my contract since I no longer had a computer. I wrote the Florida Better Business Bureau, they have several complaints, also wrote George the owner, and Attorney General of Florida and sent copies of the letters to my credit card company fighting the charges. They were finally reversed. Geeks said I had a lot of virus, but that was because they took off my security protection they are a scam, don't ever deal with them!

Apropos of the prior gentleman's comment, I do not think all techs are created equally. I bought a new printer; after hours (10 am-4:15 pm), the reason for which I called never was accomplished. I am not a novice, and have never had a problem installing a printer.
Now printers are expendable, no installation disks, no instructions, etc. All I wanted was to print from my laptop. In all those hours, that objective was never completed. Because of CoVid, I did not want to be in the room while he was working. He uninstalled Windows, re-installed Windows; After, I bought an installation cable. Now my PC is barely recognizable and creating problems with my service provider as to security. I am supposed to call another tech Monday, but feel cheated. The tech who spent all the hours was a very nice man. But I f
am not paying for nice, but for knowledge and competence.
