Green Mountain Energy billing

Worst customer service ever! They are just a shadow company and at the mercy of reliant to do anything. I protested the horrendous billing post-ike and received empty promises from green mountain. Suddenly I am in collections and have had no communications from gm. I am going back to reliant who can actually do something as simple as checking my meter for errors. You would be better to install a generator and doing it yourself versus using gm. Use someone else - anyone! Oh and at least their energy is way expensive too. Nice.

Be careful when closing an account with Green Mountain. I had credit on the account and they purposely kept the account open so that each billing cycle, I would be charged the Advanced Metering Cost Recovery Factor. I called and aksed if they could close the account and they told me that they couldn't issue a check for the credit because it was below $10 and that their only option was to credit it to my checking account. I told them that I didn't have a checking account and they said there was no way to refund the money. I then threatened with a small claims suit and they quickly issued me a check.

In short: high energy prices, low customer service, storefront facade for Reliant -- I would avoid them.

I have been woth Green mountain energy for the last 2years. I previously never had a problem. My bills were always accurate and I was always satisfied with the customer that was given if i ever needed to call, which was very very rare. I recentlly moved to Austin this summer. My bills were fine, about the same as they were being recently. The problem started when winter got here. The first bill I got in Oct/Nov ws double what I usually pay. Which was strange because for me my bills are usually cheaper in the fall and winter than the summer, since in the summer we get 100 degree weather. I rarely run the ac or heater in fall bc the temp is rather perfect. I was pissed, they told me that it was because we had 2 days of freezing weather so it couldnt been read wrong and it would prob be an adjustment on my next bill. Next bill, it goes up another $70. Im really really pissed by now, once I again they say its bc we had a couple days of freezing weather, sounds like bs to me. Now im looking at my Dec/Jan bill, its 4TIMES MORE than what i pay in the summer time. The issue even further arises because, that was the time of the holidays and i was gone for more than half the month all I didnt leave on heater. So what the fck is going on? I call, they say maybe its my vents in my place or a shortage somewhere. Checked for shortages and wiring, changed out all the filters last month. Something is going on and Im not happy about it. Something need too be done about this. We are being scammed.

I would like everyone to know that Green NMountain is a buch of crooks. They cut my lights off for a balance of $40.00, that I paid, but they posted to another LaLa land account that they said I had. I never recieved a bill for this lala land account, and the payment was not authorized. They posted the payment to the other account, and then CUT my lights off for the exact same 40.00. Left my kids and I in the dark for all night Thursday and all day Friday. I am moving my services to TXU. If you want to provide this great service and not be wasteful make sure you know how much it cost you on the backend, and quit trying to get over on the customers.

This actually happened to me recently ... in January our bill was a little higher than normal, around 230 but we figured it was from using the heater so we paid whatever. February rolls around and the bill was even more with less energy used, so we said we'd give them one more month to straighten it out. March bill comes and it's 400 dollars with no heater on and even less electricity used! So we call, were on hold 45 minuted and finally hung up, right then we went online and switched to TXU. A full month with them, using more energy than we did in March was 150. So I don't know what the hell happened with GME but I just can't afford to go green with my energy right now.

actually, no, they aren't. and the same guy reads your meter that used to when your local coal plant was burning coal on your behalf. maybe your bill won't be cheap in the summer, or exactly what it was before, but perhaps it's worth it to not be a disgusting, wasteful person. oh, and i would bet $100000 that someone like you spends all their time complaining and doesn't realize when they are wrong.

Green Mountain is a bunch of crooks. I was overcharged at least $175! They also claim to be 100% renewable energy, but try to get any proof to back up that claim. All they are is a scam company with clever marketing.

GM sucks. My first bill should have been $35 and instead it was $155. They made up a meter reading for the start of my billing cycle. I have to get a meter reading from Reliant to call them on it. They are shady ###. Don't use them.

I had GME for a year and had a bill due on June 15th only to come home the night of June 6th to find no power. You can not contact GME after 8pm, so I and my 4 year old had no power in the middle of summer. I tried for hours to contact someone at GME but was not able to do so untill the following morning. I had planned on moving out and had put through a disconnect request 30 days in advance and the GME representative said there was a mix up and she would look into the problem but I still did not get my service reconnected till the following day. 48 hours with no service due to a mixup that has still yet to be explained to me.

I too am upset with GME. I received a bill pre-Ike for 10 days of service in an apartment that was unoccupied for the amount of about $250. This month (post-Ike), I received the same bill, adjusted for a "mistake" stating that the meter reading was wrong and we owe $600 for the 10 days of service in the apartment, which was UNOCCUPIED!

When I called to dispute the charge, they said they would investigate the problem. They called me back saying that they had resolved the dispute in their favor. Big surprise.

Green Mountain Energy terrible service

Before I begin this story, let my start off by thanking my mom for preparing me for times like this. My story is a sad one it starts off with me and my girlfriend living in a one bedroom apartment. Because I was having money problems and trying to rob Peter to pay Paul my creditors were demanding payment. Like any other blue collar family me being the man of the house it was my job to make sure these creditors got paid.

I was instructed by Green Mountain customer service that my account had to be paid at a payment location instead of over the phone. I must admit I had written two checks that did not clear this was my fault and I take full responsibility for it. After, about three months my girl friend had to pay the bill at a location known as Ace Check Cashing. Ace would take the payment and report to Greenmountain the bill was paid.

For about three months this system worked until November 04, 2008. My girlfreind paid our electric bill on time as usally. When we arrived to our apartment on November 12, 2008 we were shocked to find our lights were disconnected.

The first thing we did try to call the Green Mountain, It was past 8pm so the company was closed. The automated service said to call a different number after hours. I called the after hours number and was told my lights were turned off because of none payment.

I turned to my girlfriend and could not believe she did not pay this bill. I was in the middle of getting visitation of my child's for the holidays and all I could think about is what if this would have happen while my kids where here.

After, I took a walk my girlfriend showed me the receipt were she had paid the bill on November 04, 2008. The bill was paid and there was a balance that was not due until November 11, 2008. i waited until the next day to call the light company after sleeping my home and it was 42 degrees that night.

When I made it to work my girlfriend called me she said Green Mountain Had said the payment was not received and in order to get the lights turned on we had to pay another $154.00 dollars plus a re connect fee of up to $200.00 dollars.

I decided to call the company Green Mountain myself I spoke to and Manager she said that her company did not get the payment info from Ace so I had to pay all these fees. I was outraged because we had paid the bill. I told them ok and when I returned home that afternoon my lights where still off.

I know there are families out there who have issues worst than the one me and my family experience but who has the right to make any family suffer. It is time to make these big companies out there realize there are families who live from check to check and when they have to start wondering about the companies who promise to be understanding and ethical this country is in store for a major downfall.

When we complained we were told be Green Mountain it was Ace fault And Ace said it was Green Mountain fault.
