Called Utilebill April 6, 2023 requesting help as hot water tank leaked 200 liters of water in basement. Customer Service said they couldn't help me as contract expired Feb. 2023 and call a plumber. I said I would renew contract and send me an email. CS said it would take 1 to 2 weeks to get new contract approved. I verbally cancelled my service but I keep getting monthly invoices and harrasing phone calls to pay for monthly tank rental of a tank that stopped working April 6th! Utilebill provides bad service. Do not use them as you will regret it in the end.
Desired outcome: Close my account. Not pay closing account fees.

Water heater

I became Utilebill customer with a water heater after they acquired the previous service provider in 2021 (the heater is still the same, installed in 2016). The heater started leaking in August 2022. I called the number from the sticker on the heater several times. I left several voice messages on number [protected]. Nobody called me back. Now the heater also creates crazy noise when working. I tried to contact Utilebill for the replacement with zero results. The only calls I received from the company recently were calls from billing. And the only reason for the calls was they can't get money from my credit card as it is changed in November. When I checked the Internet, I realized I am not alone in complaining about various issues. It seems Utilebill only exists to collect money but not to provide service.
Desired outcome: The change of service provider, water heater replacement. I would also consider some penalty to compensate for the damages from the leak.
Monthly billing for my electric air filter
I have been paying for my Electric air filter system for last 5 years and they missed charging me for one of the month, 8 months back. They are threatening me now and making it a collection issue and spoiling my credit report.
However, this is an ERROR on their part for the billing.
Moreover, they have put a lien on my property, which has to be removed
I am going to lodge an official complaint with BBB and other agencies about this now.
Water heater
I purchased this property back on January 2020 and I moved in with no knowledge of this company. So I have a rental water heater installed at my property by this company back in 2017. I don't know what kind of contract the company has with the previous owner. Now I have getting harassed my these people on daily basis forcing me to give them my banking details so that can charge my account which I don't trust this company at all and I refused to give up my banking details. And I asked them to provide me with the contact agreement, but i got nothing from them at all. I don't know what to do next? Please help 🙏
Air Filtration, water softener, & water filter.
UtilEbill is making life for my disabled step father difficult. Enbridge has removed UtilEbill from their billing and since making it impossible for my stepfather to pay his bill.
They will only accept PAP from his bank account, check or credit card. All of which mean disclosing his bank account information. When going to the bank, the teller could not even legitimately find an account to pay either.
UtilEbill was also supposed to email us a buy out option weeks ago and there hasn't been such email.
We will not be paying through PAP and they are not getting his credit card number either. I have red flags going off all around me.
Desired outcome: Take back your equipment and stop this bill
Furnace
I purchased a furnace from Energywise. Prior to signing to contract, i had email confirmations from (1) the sales rep, Anthony Pillay, and (2)the corporate head office of Energywise confirming the price of the furnace should i decide to purchase it after two years. Two months prior to the 2nd anniversary date, i tried calling energywise only to find out they are no longer in business (possibly operating under a different name) and had sold my contract to Utilebill. When i contracted utilebill, they refused to honour the agreement. I went into medical depression due to my dealings with utilebill which is still not resolved. Recently, they sent me letters and emails stating that enbridge no longer wants to collect on their behalf and they are requesting for pre-authorized payment. I am willing to pay monthly but NOT with any pre-authorized payments. I was told there is no other option.
When i called recently, i was told my contract has now been sent to another finance firm, VERTTAG. Unfortunately, this company also requires pre-authorized payment and has not set themselves up with reputable financial institutions for online banking. I was told that should i not sign up for pre-authorized payment, i will be charged additional $5 for paper invoice. I requested for email invoice (which is free) and was told NOT possible as they do not send out emails.
At this point, i have no idea who owns my contract as i still get mails from utilebills requesting for pre-authorized payment but the phone call states otherwise.
Desired outcome: payment thru online banking and honouring the buyout cost of the equipment i had with energywise.
Furnace and a/c unit
I PURCHASED a new furnace and A/C unit for the house in July 2017. I then had heart by-pass surgery in August and was incapacitated for some time after that. A few weeks later I discovered I was being charged a monthly fee thru Enbridge of $90 for the furnace and $90 for the A/C. I mistakenly thought these were payments for the purchase of these items. These payments eventually increased to $93.14 and most recently to $96.40 for each item. In February of this year, a reference was added to the fees as RENTAL furnace and RENTAL Air Conditioner. Since I did not rent theses items but purchased them, I set out to find the original invoice which had been misplaced while I was in hospital for my surgery back in 2017. I finally located the info a few days ago. While there is no bill of sale there is a completed for title Ontario Residential Energy Assessment which was to generate a $2, 100 rebate which I never received. The form also references a 10-year warranty which would not be given unless I PURCHASED these items . I also have a receipt from 2019 for a service call which also indicates no charge because the furnace is still under warranty. Now these crooks at UtilEbill are telling me that Enbridge will no longer collect for them and they want me to set up pre-authorized payments or else my service will be discontinued. Given that I have been paying about $200 a month for over 4 years, I have certainly long ago finished paying for my purchase and I want nothing more to do with these crooks. I have read about the scams they have been perpetrating and I hope someone can help me in this matter. Getting back my overpayments would also be nice. Thank you.

as the house is sold the buyers requested a inspection, inspection found air conditioner was blowing warm air. so phoned utilebil to fix it .its a rental
and was told i did not qualify. yet on november 17 after 17 phone calls from myself and the closing lawyer they asked for over 12, 000 dollars for a buyout
so either they should have fixed the ac or they are not entitled to a buyout
so i had ita report done $129.00 and now in the process of having it fixed

Why is that no one is able to get a hold of someone in these companies and your company in regards to their issues and problems? Utilebill works with ontario home services. They bill people for Ontario Home Services. So Ontario Home Services used to knock on people's door and pressured and lied to them to sign the papers. Once signed then poor consumer is on the hook for 10 upto 15 years. Only way out if the buyout the contract not the device. Which is insane. People got scammed for upto 40k$
ac and furnace
I have been calling CS for over a month now to check Ac and recently about furnace. But no one is getting back to me. CS hangs up my phone calls and when I call back it get disconnected quickly or I'm on hold for an hour and still no answer. Everytime I talk to some the bunce me to different phone number or just say ok we will leave a message to our manager.
This is not acceptable.
I'm very disappointed.
ontario home services rental agreement / hwisel
Utilebill called approved and paid Sevice plus work started on 1st call in Dec 2019 on our Combi Boiler System NTI 85168 with holding tank & pressure and have not completed servicing unit but have no further approval from your company to work needed. This HVAC agreement was through Ontario Home Services which is no longer available to contact any service through them only a service called Hwisel which wants to cost us a service agreement? and cant help. We need help and direction to able to have a rental serviced for our brother who is ill with dementia and has NO HEAT!. The furnace itself has been red-tagged by the last serviceman Service plus sent out as the unit was never installed correctly their # is 705-431-2822 ask for Sandy or Robin they have tried to help us but can't continue until further service is approved by you as you were 1st to contact to them. Was to be a buy out and provided a deposit that did not go to my account. Equipment did not run properly 3 days after installed. A new thermostat was part of agreement and did not happen. Yearly visit to mai tain and contact 24/7 if needed is not available. Requested service to fix on day 3 and day 5 of equipment being in my home wirhout anyone coming to fix...just agreed to send someone. Was told energywise was in good standings and Enbridge partnership etc...all witnessed by 2 other individuals. Sent register letters to have contract revoked and letters sent back...phone numbers not available...continue to be threaten etc...sent letter to utelibill explaining mt position and have repeatively askedto have equipment removed from my home.
Still want it out!
Not interested in discussing my poor service and fraudulent experience with Energywise or Utelibill ...lets take this to court
PS...filed complaints with both Better Business and Ministry of Consumer Protection.
Do not want to deal with individuals or company that are scammers and crooks...completely fraudulent and have kept all records...etc

2015 hired the above noted company they did installation of a furnace and water heater payments continue to rise every month plus they continue to take payments without advising me they're doing so it's not just once a month now over $100 a month between the furnace on the water heater. I recently had a break-in lost all of my paperwork so in order for me to get more paperwork I have to once again get it from this farce of a company. The above company installed a " rent to own" equipment that was to be maintained by them for one year before I paid outstanding balance on a deferr program. The equipment states along with contract " 247 emergency service" and Energywise " does not consent to others" servicing equipment. Energywise misinformed me that they were in " good standings" with Enbridge gas etc. It seems there are numerous complaints and lawsuits pending ; many dissatified customers with both Energwise and yourself . I have sent letters, phone calls, emails to Energywise in the beginning ( cooling off period) that went unanswered or letter returned. Currently phone numbers ( are disengaged) and emails cannot be put forward. I want the equipment removed from my home immediately. Breach of contract and so forth. I no longer want to do business with so much dishonesty present regarding this matter. If I cannot close my account swiftly I too will move forward with a lawsuit.Please contact Tina # [protected] to make arrangment to disolve my contract.
Purchased under duress. Four days last February 2017 without heat. Came to house and stated " good standings with Enbridge" and " rent to own agreement" with " buyout" option after one year. The equipment was to be serviced yearly (" 12 visits") and the contract and equipment both state "247 service". Noticed after installed a few discrepencies and I did not provide Enbridge account number so questioned how this came to be". The cooling off period was ignored by salesman; cell was not in serviced shortly after. Letters, emails ignored or returned to me over a 6 month period. Continue to send out calls, emails and letters to the address or number on my contract. The contract states "247 service" but number is disengaged ( busy signal/ taken off the hook).This contract is breached as I cannot reach for service and as such want to disolve immediately. I want equipment removed and to walk away from this bad dishonest company/ service. I am aware there are numerous complaints and lawsuits and will follow suit if we cannot come to an agreement immediately. Return equipment and walk away. As equipment cannot be serviced by another company as per contract and sticker on equipment it is a safety issue as well; dont want a misadventure such as a fire or blow up cause not serviced/ cleaned or maintained by Energywise. We have to make and file a compliant with this companies, reliance home comfort, viva financial, and utilebill. Because, we got on scam. We are a victim of fraud. This companies are the door to door seller, that lied to us. They came in to our house, they said, they just want to check our furnace. But then they installed their products into our furnace, they said its free, and its ontario law. We signed the pappers without cost. But then, all of a sadden they charges into our enbridge bill. We are shocked! We tried to contact them to cancel their product, since january 2018. But they said, they cannot cancel it. We already file a complaint to the comsumers protection, against of these companies. We already advised by the lawyers of probono onatrio. (legal adviser of ontario) that, we have to file a complaint to enbridge, against of these companies, to stop them/ stop the payments to them, and to remove in our enbridge acct. Please help us, please remove this companies that changes in our enbridge bill acct. As soon as possible. We really need your help.
